@mhilpisch10 Yeah, I'd somehow completely forgotten about the fact that they need to have the safety belt between their legs, so a gown isn't going to work too well, I don't think.
I imagine we'll either end up going with a one-piece sleeper or onesie of some sort, since they'll be covered with a blanket and it'll still be summer when they're born. Luckily, I've got plenty of time to look for something cute that will work. Or we'll just bring them home in whatever we have and make their first full day home clothes their "special" newborn outfits.
I just wish I knew what their birth weight is going to be, so I could shop more easily. I assume that since I'm having twins, newborn size is a pretty safe bet (unless they come early enough that they need preemie size clothes, which I'm obviously hoping won't happen). Big babies run in my family (my brother and I were both about 10 pounds), but I'm not expecting them to be too big, being multiples.
@MojieJo I wouldn't worry about getting preemie size. If that's what they need you can have somebody stop somewhere and pick up a couple outfits. My second daughter was 4lb1oz when we left the hospital and she needed preemie clothes. But she only wore them for 2, maybe 3, weeks. During that time we did not leave the house (except to go to the dr) and I was able to do a small load of just her clothes every couple days.
@LeahKnits That's what I figured. I know Babies 'R' Us has preemie sizes and there's one maybe 10 minutes from the hospital, so at least I know where to send someone to grab something in a hurry if it comes to it.
I wasn't really planning on getting anything smaller than newborn sized, but if I was having a single baby I'd be very concerned about whether I needed 0-3 month size instead of newborn. As it is, I'm slightly concerned that they might be too chunky for newborn clothes, but only because my brother and I were heavy and long and these little ones have been measuring big so far. I really don't think it's going to be an issue, though.
DH was only 6.5 pounds or so at birth and his sister was a little smaller, so I'm hoping his genes will balance out my Butterball turkey-sized baby genes when it comes to our kiddos (plus the whole multiples being smaller thing).
Just catching up on this thread and I must say you ladies had me laughing with all of the dream and "baby head" talk!! First of all, NO I would not want to touch the babies head in that moment, just get that thing out of me thank you very much.
Also, in regard to dreams, I haven't been having them about exes at all but I have been having super steamy/realistic dreams about just about ALL of my coworkers/other people at work. It is always so mortifying to go into work the next day, because even though I know it's silly I feel like they know they were in my dream! I hate seeing someone for the first time after a dream like that -- always super uncomfortable in my own head.
@MojieJo my sisters twins came by planned c section at 38 weeks, ultrasounds measured them larger than they ended up being. There was a walmart down the street so while they were in the hospital my mom and I went and bought tons of preemie clothes... it was no big deal
We also only brought a take home outfit last time, didn't realize people dress their babies in hospital so emmett wore a diaper and kimono t-shirt the whole time we were there (2 days). Woops!!
I've never heard of being able to dress your baby at the hospital!! That being said I've only been there for my nephews and nieces and all those times the babies wore the same outfits. Hospital cap, white onesie, and the hospital blue and pink stripped blanket. I wonder if that was their rule, or if my siblings just didn't care what they wore until they went home. However, the babies always went home in their parent specified outfit and looked utterly adorable!!!

I did the same for both of my girls. The kimono tee and the diaper made life easy for those couple of days.
We didn't dress Reese in the hospital. Skin-to-skin time and working on breastfeeding were so important to me that it was easier to just pull her swaddle and t-shirt off of her.
So my random for the day...I was having dinner with my DH at work last night (he works in taxes so if we don't do work dinner dates i'd never see him until after April 15th), and began to detail the 'touch the baby's head as it comes out scenario' that was being so lovingly described here. I wish I had taken a picture of the uncontrolled horror look on his face when he understood what I was saying. I seriously thought he might have passed out right then and there. He also double checked (multiple times) that I wasn't going to do that as he may not be able to remain standing if I did. Lol. I love this man and he cracks me up so much, but I'm seriously taking bets in my own head as to how long he lasts in the delivery room before the nurses start worrying more about him than me. :-p
We are starting to look at houses and the market for anything decent is insane. We gave the realtor a list of 4 houses to see that have been listed since Monday and 3 of them have accepted offers. And the other one I hate and was just humoring my husband. Fml. This is going to blow.
@AnnaS930 -- you were right about those bras! My boobs look better in this than they ever did in one of my regular bras! Gonna have to go back for more....

I've been looking at houses online for a while. Anything decent seems to go very quickly. We're still waiting to hear back about our loan, but I think house hunting is going to be very stressful. Because almost anything would be better than where we are now, but I don't want something that we're going to outgrow in a couple years.
I took several outfits to the hospital for McKenna, but only because, being a September baby, I didn't know if it'd be warm or cool the day we went home. I ended up putting her in one on her second day, and having a friend bring us a Colts onsie because there was a game that night. It was huge on her, but we went with it. Then she was diagnosed with jaundice, and she didn't wear anything but a blanket until we went home because she had to be under the bili lights, and we did skin to skin when I got her to breastfeed.
I have to admit the idea of feeling my babys head while their body is still inside of me totally made me do a full-body shake at my desk. For me that's a whole-lotta nope!!! That also goes for a mirror down there during the process and one checking out the 'carnage' (love the description) after the fact. I may take a look when the 6-8 weeks are up and we're no longer restricted sexually, but that's more so I know my DH doesn't get traumatized from seeing what happened down there, than for me.
As to dreams - has anyone had one where they started batting for the same team? I did this past weekend and it was weird! I woke up and mentioned it to DH and he was all 'Yea? Details!' and really, all I could say was that 'I was just not into it.' Lol. It was so strange. It was an intense dream but even in the intense dream I just couldn't get into it, and trust me I was trying. That so far takes the cake even above the ex-bf dreams.
Yep. That's happened to me (batting for the same team dreams). In my dreams stuff is always being done to me, but when it's my turn to reciprocate I'm always like "Wait, no, I don't like this. No thank you."

My midwife practically made me touch DS1 head when I was pushing. I told her "no!" And she asked at least once more maybe even twice so I did it just to shut her up and there was about a quarter size of his head I could feel. I just about started crying and gave up then and there. I had already been pushing for well over and hour!! And that was my progress!?! It was so depressing. Turns out he was sunny side up which is why it took so long. I still don't know how no one knew that until his head was fully out?! I've heard of them trying to rotate the baby as you are in full labor for sunny side up babies. I'm so glad they didn't do that. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise no one knew.
My daughter was sunnyside up. I'd already had an epidural at that point, so them trying to move her consisted of them rolling me from side to side. I couldn't help much, so I felt like a useless sack of big fat whale carcass. So awkward. They ended up vaccuuming her out.

We rented "The Hateful Eight" from Redbox last night. We were both so excited, because we didn't get to see it in the theater and are huge Tarantino fans.
... We ended up turning it off about an hour and a half in. So disappointing! Almost 3 hours of constant "n-bombs" and dialogue. Which normally is my favorite thing about Tarantino movies, but this one felt so bloated and self-indulgent. Blah.

This mightbe an UO but I hate Tarantino and can't stand any of his movies. I used to work in the film industry before I moved to where I live now and people couldn't believe it (don't know why, he's not exactly considered one of the greats) and I would roll my eyes in film class when he was used as an example. The last movie of his that I gave a shot to was Inglorious Basterds and I turned it off 30 minutes in. Nope, nope, nope!
DD is taking an extremely long nap (no complaints here), and I'm too lazy to do anything but Bump right now. However, our board is slow, and I can't get into lurking on the others. This is a time where I'm missing the birth stories on other boards. I did enjoy seeing all the bumps on April16, and it got me all excited for September again.
@camichael84 - After reading that, I had to go over and see all the bump pictures. Yep, totally feeling the same way now! I can't wait to get to that point. Loving all the bump pics everywhere!
I always get so nervous before ob appointments which I never do before gp visits. I hope my blood pressure doesn't spike.
Edit to add. When they checked me in the lady said the nurse will get you eventually then corrected to she will get you when they are ready. Only been waiting for 15m and all of a sudden a person goes into the reception office and the closed all the windows and started talking. I wonder what happened and what this means for my appt.
@UnwritteN12 I love all bump pictures, too! Especially on our board. But seeing the full term/almost full term bumps reminded me of all the excitement at the end! Of course, I was conveniently forgetting the heatburn, swelling, difficulty sleeping...
And DD is still sleeping, and now I want her to wake up so I can get myself some Arby's!
I loved watching A Baby Story on TLC when I was pregnant with DD, but now it's only on a channel we don't get (I almost doubled our cable package price just to get that channel but was able to restrain myself) so I'm watching them on YouTube during my lunch breaks. Since they're all pretty old episodes I'm amusing myself by looking up the couples and seeing if they're still married, etc. Anyone else do that with older reality tv shows?
@camichael84& @UnwritteN12 Yup! Just had to go see the bumps on April 2016! They all look so excited and ready to go! Can't wait until we're all there and get to share in each others excitement during that time!
Did the quick check up and said my uterus feels a little bigger than 14 weeks and if I can wait she will do a quick u/s. Another peek at baby of course I have time, work will wait.
@Steephers123 - I completely forgot about A Baby Story! I don't watch TLC as much as I used to (back before - IMO - Kate from Jon and Kate + 8 went a little nuts and the world discovered that the Duggars were complete dillholes) but that was one of my favorites.
Sounds like a good way to pass the time! I'm thinking anything that keeps me from what I'm actually supposed to be doing right now sounds amusing. Thank you S16 moms for helping me accomplish that!
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom Awww! I know a lot of people who don't like Tarantino. I've always been a fan, and IB is actually one of my favorites. Christoph Waltz is so damn good. I love his dialogue (normally), and his choice of music in scenes ("Son of a Preacher Man" in Pulp Fiction, "Stuck In the Middle With You" in Res. Dogs) is A+.
I wasn't crazy about Django, but the acting on Christoph Waltz & Leonardo DiCaprio's part kept me from hating it too much. This, however... I just couldn't get into it. Too much.

I loved A Baby Story and A Wedding Story when I was in middle and high school! I actually watched a couple episodes of it when I was pregnant with DD, but it was so changed from the late 90s/early naughties that I couldn't really get into it. I should see if I can find the older ones on You Tube...
I forgot to drink water in the last two days (we were on vacation, a mini baby moon!) and today I had the most excruciatingly painful headache ever (it even woke me up at 3am). I had to call in sick to work, even though I really wanted to come in and get things done. Moral of the story: don't forget to drink water.
So happy to get the surprise u/s! She said she didn't have time as it turns out but still did a super quick 45 second one and didn't say anything more about my bigger uterus. The baby was so active, just wiggling those arms and legs around! H was a bit jealous he didn't get to see but I got a couple pics.
