Well, finally saw the OB and all is well! Phew! HB was a strong 144 and now I am at my desk trying to get up the nerve to speak with my manager. I wish someone else could do this for me!
@AnnaS930 - You're too funny. Also, you had me cracking up at "These are great boobs". I feel it's definitely a plus side of pregnancy!
A plus side for sure! Especially now when they aren't leaking or aching... They make me feel better about my body, and feeling good about my body/sexy even while pregnant is a huge plus for me. There's plenty of chances to feel down about a growing body that you can't quite dress right to look flattering, might as well look for the silver linings! Excellent boobs, dressed or nudie!
I hate Tarantino. Every movie. We went with a group of friends to see Inglorious Basterds in college.. I left the theater and just sat in the hallway waiting for it to be over. I've never hated a movie so much in my life.. and I've seen some pretty terrible movies.
SADS.
I'm also very anti-Tim Burton. Is that an issue?
OH GAAAHHHDDD. Staaaahp!
You are breaking my heart. J/k. In all seriousness, I think Tim burton films have lost a lot in the last 10 years. I love Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Big Fish, but his more recent stuff is a bit over the top and also self indulgent.

@runningisrad- I actually love Big Fish - but I feel like that one is the least twisted of his movies? I did like Edward Scissorhands as a kid... maybe I'm more against his animated movies which all just look like a lot of the same to me. I really want to like his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - and I do like aspects of it that line up with the book, but other parts are just far too Burton-ized for me.
I think "Kill Bill" is the only Tarantino movie I've seen. I love it, but have never been inclined to watch any of his others.
@geminigirl16 I have an OB appt today as well. I always did early appts during my first pregnancy, but had to do afternoon appts this time so DH doesn't have to take any vacation time to go along. I miss the earlier appts, but they actually seem to get me in faster in the afternoon. *knocks on wood*
No, but seriously. I was at home watching TV when I suddenly got really hot (it was a whopping 74F indoors) and nauseous. DH got home from work and found me all warm and sweaty lying like a fatigued pig on the couch. Then I started shaking and felt like I was going to pass out. I was so hot and dizzy that I got ice cream and downed way more than I should've, all in an effort to cool down. My BP was high too but it all got better after ice cream and sitting in front of the fan for a few minutes. I'm chalking it up to being overheated: I guess another pregnancy thing?
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom- The symptoms paired with getting better with ice cream lead me to think that it also could have been low blood sugar? Might be worth keeping an eye on what you eat to try to keep your levels well.. level. Also, keep some hard candy (obviously not sugar-free) or real juice/non-diet soda on you if you start to feel shaky again.
Could be completely unrelated, but thought I might throw that out there as a possibility!
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom Let me preface by saying that I'm no expert, but that sounds like your blood sugar could have dropped. It might be worth mentioning to the OB at your next appt if you find it happens again.
@AnnaS930 I thought of that as a possibility too. Probably was low blood sugar. I've passed out before being pregnant but from low BP, I don't think I've ever had low blood sugar but I know it can happen with pregnancy. I'll make sure to keep juice in my fridge in case it happens again. I stopped drinking juice and sodas a few days ago because of heartburn but it's better than passing out! I had some fruit a couple of hours before it happened so I thought I would be fine.
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom- Ok! That makes me feel better to know you'll be prepared Some fruits have pretty simple sugars to them so can bring up your blood sugar quickly, then it'll crash right back down. Just a 1/2 cup of juice or soda would bring you right back up, at least enough to see if it made you feel better. Sounds like you're on it! Hope it was just a weird moment and doesn't happen again!
@camichael84 Well, my appointment was at 8:40 and I saw the doctor at 9:30 and was out the door just after 10 AM. Lucky I really like my OB as I am not a huge fan of waiting (who is though?). My next appointment is an afternoon so we will see which one rolls better!
@AnnaS930 hope so too! I will mention it to the OB and will drink juice I bought a huge bottle of Naked juice yesterday since it's less acidic than the lemonade and OJ my DH loves.

I appreciate that he stuck a little closer to the source material, but the original Willy Wonka is so iconic and perfect, I felt that the remake tried too hard. I really wanted to like it, too, but I just didn't.

That happens to me a lot, even when I'm not pregnant. I think it's a blood sugar thing.

In-laws are arriving for an extended weekend stay in about 3-4 hours...DH is pretty sure he has the flu and has been feverish and out of commission all day yesterday and today. I still need to clean the guest bathroom and bedroom, finish cleaning the kitchen, vacuum the house, and grocery shop. All I want to do is Bump and watch Fixer Upper reruns.
@Jabreen - I swear someone always gets sick when my in-laws are coming over. It's just a curse we can't avoid. I hope he gets better soon and you aren't left to entertain all weekend. BLAH!
@runningisrad Thanks. He's really good about keeping distance when sick, though with other people in the house there is no option to sleep apart if he gets worse.
@AnnaS930 I am a little worried about that. Not because I don't love my MIL, but she usually never wants to be away from the house for more than an hour or so anyway. In fact, I'm a bit surprised they made the 10 hr drive to see us! I am honestly more worried about her deciding to scrub all activities and just stay home to nurse DH!
I think I'll do my Friday confession early...while I know of Tarantino by name, I don't think I could tell you the names of any of his movies and I definitely have not seen any of the ones named in this post.
I've never been a big movie person. So maybe the bigger confession is that so many classic movies that people talk about, I have never seen.
I love movies. I love everything about them. I love talking about them, watching them, watching them again, and watching them again. My favorite movie is Jurassic Park. Loves me some velociraptors.
Now Jurassic Park I've seen and liked. Most recently, I watched Jurassic World with my husband and hated it. Before that, I'd struggle to tell you a movie I watched other than Disney or Pixar with my girls. I just get antsy watching movies and feel like I should be doing something else.
Dear 1:30pm, You are like running into a brick wall. Super tired, Super unmotivated, still so far to go to get to 5pm when I'm free from here. Already had a Twizzler pull n peel, another might give me a belly ache. Tempted to head to the cafeteria for a soda and some chips, but wanting to hold out for another hour before I give in to that. Wahhhh.
@geminigirl16- dang!! That usually worked well for me in my last pregnancy, though a couple times I'd be sitting there for 10 minutes and see my OB rush into the office with her coffee and give me a smile saying "Let me settle in and we'll be right with you!" Ugh.
I've heard that the best time to schedule appointments is right after lunch.
My husband just told me he has to work late tonight. Usually, that's no big deal. But tonight, he's supposed to watch LO while I teach a night class. Blergh. Scrambling to find a sitter. Really wish we had family nearby. Ugh ugh.
ETA: I seriously want to cry right now. Normally I handle this stuff well, but today, not so much.
@Sporty1216 I'm so sorry! I can understand wanting to cry about this, it's such an inconvenience! I hope you find a sitter and it all works out tonight. Good luck!
I was waiting to announce my pregnancy at work until I had a chance to tell my boss. Today after I told her I mentioned that I wouldn't mind announcing at the all staff meeting since I could get it all done with in one go. She made it seem like she didn't want to say anything but then at the meeting she said "I heard a rumor we have fall babies coming, anyone want to out themselves?" It was fun to hear the room react and cheer for me when I raised my hand.
Thanks, @AlwaysAuntNeverMom ! I did finally find someone. I just hate imposing on people and that is what I am having to do tonight. I'm hoping that bringing treats for the kids will help. I need to remember to look at the bright side of these situations--I had a lot of people I could reach out to for help, and folks came through. Without family nearby, I can feel kind of alone in this. But I have friends who are like family and for that I am so grateful.
@Jabreen My in-laws JUST left this afternoon after a four day visit. I feel like I can finally exhale! I spent SO much time trying to get the house ready...Ugh.
So I have to share this thing I just learned. I read a Buzzfeed post about a weird trick to free up space on your iPhone. I'm forever running out, so I tried it and it flipping worked. The basic process is go to the iTunes store and try to rent a really long movie—like Lord of the Rings. If you have less than 6 or so MB, it will not let you rent it. It'll bring up a popup that says you don't have enough storage, manage your storage, blah blah. If you click "Settings," and then look at your available storage, it should've increased. I did this 4x and it took me from 400 MB to 2.0 GB! You don't have to worry about accidentally renting the movie once your space increases, just make sure you have password protect for purchases and unless you enter your password for a final confirmation, you won't rent the movie for real.
I finally managed to speak my manager and gave him the news this afternoon. He took it quite well, told me that having kids was the most amazing experience and acknowledged that I must have felt nervous considering all the restructuring that had been done recently. I feel sooo relieved - next step is to tell my whole team next week when we are all together.
@pdxmamatobe I am so happy to read that your announcement went well today!
I am cracking up at all of the April Fool's Day siggys so far! Ya'll are bringing the heat this month! *Scurries off to find one that will make you smile in return.* Thanks for the giggles!
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
So I was wondering if ya'll can help me with something. DH will be having his 40th birthday 19 days before our due date. He didn't want a surprise party (not that I would have listened) but I would have taken us on a surprise vacation since I know he would have loved that. So now I am not sure what to do for his birthday this year with the baby's impending arrival. Any ideas on how to make his 40th a day to remember being 37 weeks pregnant?
Give birth! J/K Does he have a gaggle of guy friends? Maybe send him on a day outing with the guys, a last hurrah before the baby comes. Think of what he's into- if it's a sport send him to a game with his friends (or you can take him), something like that. Two years for DH's bday I got him a Yankee jersey, bought tickets to the game (cheap ones lol), and made a little certificate that said we were going to the game, and we made a day out of it. If you're up for it, tag along! If not, send him with a friend or a few!
You guys, I got to go to the gym for the first time in like two years. Went crazy and did two classes. It's a shame I'm going to need to walk tomorrow. Because that might be hard.
(No judgment to those who don't have the energy/time/care to workout. It's important to me and I think staying active was a big part in an easy L&D with my daughter.)
I work with a foster parent who is due two months before me and she has a beautiful glow, no zits, and a tiny bump without the fat belly. I have to admit I was jealous the entire time I was talking with her...
