Re: January Randoms

  • My OB told me that my IBS would be amplified by pregnancy and she really wasn't kidding. I am in a world of stomach pain at the moment and am getting really tired of being in the bathroom. I should be thankful since I hadn't gone in days, but this is way more painful than the constipation!!!

I have IBS also. Do you know what triggers it? Depression and anxiety were making mine worse. I'm on Zoloft now and it's a little better. Caffeine, diary and coffee hurt my stomach the most. Also over eating, so I try to eat little meals. My doc also said to try a probiotic. Sorry your dealing with this! Mine is so bad, I can't work or leave my house much.

@ButterMyBiscuit I never got a reply for my appeal either. I wish I could write an appeal for you because that is dumb they did anything about that crazy lady!

What on earth did you get a warning for?!

  • @juliagulia38 hope those cramps get better, sounds awful. Keep us posted please!
  • @BioTeach84 I have UC and agree with @juliagulia38 on knowing your triggers. Caffeine, dairy, coffee, (alcohol), spicy foods, oily foods and stress kill me. I also second the probiotic- if I take one before and after eating trigger foods sometimes I can avoid a flare and still enjoy. The refrigerated probiotics from health food stores tend to be more effective in my experience than the shelf-stable kind, although all the different brands have different strains so it takes some trial and error to find the one that's most effective for your specific gut flora imbalance. Good luck and I'm sorry you're dealing with flares on top of being pregnant. Hope you find some relief soon.

  • Thank you @dolewhipper I will look into that. It's never been severe enough to be medicated, so I've always just dealt with it, but pregnancy sure has enhanced it. Maybe a change in diet will make it bearable again. @juliagulia38 Anxiety is usually one of my triggers, but I haven't been especially anxious lately. I started eating the activia yogurt to help with the constipation and maybe it helped a little too much......I'm sorry that yours is so debilitating! That is awful! Thank you for the advice!

I can't remember which one (I think it was 2 weeks ago) my UO included a naughty word... I walk the line what can I say!
  • @xc1148 Mine had hiccups during my ultrasound, too!  SO cute! :)
  • What the hell sleeping body??? I am normally a side sleeper, so I thought it would be no biggie to sleep pregnant. Lies! If I side sleep my hips hurt (can't wait for my pillow to be delivered today) or I will wake up on my back with my boobs choking me! I never used to wake up on my back!!!
  • @randimt16 you live in Utah too?!? I though I was the only one!!
  • @jlgriff11 at 15 weeks and with two of 'em in there, I'll believe you. Enjoy the feeling either way!

  • @jlgriff11 I think that we are all going to start feeling babies move soon, and that is awesome. I was just annoyed when people were 11 weeks and saying baby was moving. I don't think 15 weeks is outlandish, especially with twins! Enjoy!
  • That's super exciting. And makes sense to me! My first I felt at 17 weeks. And my boys I felt at 12-13. So twins at 15 weeks is TOTALLY in the realm of possibility IMHO.
  • Ok, so there've been several mentions of accidents peeing while sneezing/coughing/puking, but I don't think I've seen this one anywhere. Has anyone cut the cheese accidentally? Seriously, two different times today, I randomly passed gas. No warning, no chance to hold it in... I guess I'm just THAT bloated?? If it were at home, it'd be fine, because I'm sure my husband and son would just think it's funny, but during the work day has the potential for extreme embarrassment.
  • @soberkfell I've done this every since DD was born (not all the time, but it definitely happens!)

Also, pretty sure I felt this Baby move yesterday @13 weeks. I don't think I felt with DD until 18 weeks. Weird!!!
  • @soberkfell this is my several times a week. Especially if I have to cough or sneeze.

  • I am an adjunct instructor and have decided once baby comes to take off at least the first semsester (starts in August) if not the first whole year. Of course, now that I have experiance under my belt and have been able to teach a good variety of classes, there are a good 3-4 full time tenure track positions open, but they all start in August! I am so bummed that these are open now, and probably will not be any positions come next year when I am ready to jump back in the game.
  • Peed my pants while barfing tonight. Awesome

  • My skin hates winter. It feels like I might scratch my skin off. I hate you, too, winter. Dick.

Totally read this as your skin hates WATER and i had a mild freak out that this was a new pregnancy symptom and i wouldn't be able to take baths anymore.

In a more sane mindset I also hate Winter and it's going to be below zero here all weekend so hibernate I shall!

my thighs were itching like crazy last night and I lathered myself up with coconut oil. That seemed to help!
  • I tried doing a search to see if this has been a topic of discussion, but I didn't find anything - anyone else have the same problem I do? I seem to pee myself everytime I cough or sneeze; each and every friggin' time - not a whole lot, just a trickle but I find it completely annoying as heck. I've never had this problem before giving birth to my first. Seems as though my muscles have weakened ever since. I addressed this with my OB and she suggested doing kegals to work out those muscles to make them stronger or 2nd option was to have surgery. Definitely no thanks to the surgery option but just wondering if others have found ways to address this issue other than doing kegals.

You're not alone, I pee myself almost every time I sneeze, and definitely when I throw up. And this is my first pregnancy! My doctor didn't tell me anything to do for it, just that it's pretty normal. So, I have no real advice :/ I should probably do kegals more often.

Another random (because this is the place), anyone else feel like they are drooling like a basset hound lately?! Where is all of this saliva coming from?

Ha! Yes!! I feel like I'm always catching myself drooling. My younger sister thinks I'm so gross haha. Maybe she'll understand when it's her turn!

I had this especially in the evenings for a while. I associate extra saliva with puking, so even if I didn't have to puke, I wanted to.

  • TMI warning!
Has anyone ever had "gas pain" I woke up in the night with a huge stomach ache I thought I had to pee but that didn't ease it and later when I was finally able to fart at least several times but it took a long time, hours, to be able to finally ease this. Apparently it's thing after trying to figure out if it is a UTI symptom but it seems it's due to progesterone maybes I'm going to ask my dr about it on Monday and the weird thing is I'm not constipated as I'm having bm's fairly frequently.

    My random.

Ever since I found out I was pregnant I have had a Phoebe from Friends song stuck in my head.

"Are you in there little fetus?
In 9 months will you come greet us?
I will... buy you some Adidas"

I sing it to myself (and my stomach) subbing in the current amount of months and my husband thinks I am a nutball. (I might be)

    I love this! Lol
