I'm 21.3 weeks and I can feel her kicking from the outside at this point.. Hoping the DH will be lucky enough to have his hand on my belly at just the right time, because feeling it outside is still pretty rare, and I'd love to have him share it ^.^ I feel her moving around a lot on the inside nowadays too, although she's got the opposite sleep schedule of me. I only really feel her in the evening, and when she wakes me up between 4-7a.

I've been feeling baby for 2 weeks now, but his kicks have been getting more frequent and stronger. Today he gave me such a strong kick that it startled me and I jumped! Was pretty funny. I was laying in bed and hubby witnessed it. So awesome. :D
  • I just felt him on the outside, this is so crazy. It felt like he was turning around and now he's having a party apparently! This is so exciting! <3 </p>

So by the time your husband arrives, he should be feeling lots of kicks! DH has been very impatiently waiting, and he got to feel the first ones tonight. I thought the kicks were gross before I got pregnant, but as soon as I felt one I was like, "Mike! Mike! Get your butt over here, I can feel it!"
Hahaha yes I am so excited for him to come soon because by then I am hoping the kicks will be stronger! I was worried it would take longer with an anterior placenta, but I remained completely calm on my back while pushing gently on my belly and he started flipping around, it was really crazy and surreal :D

  • Haha, LO was doing Kung fu this afternoon; kicking me in the crotch whilst bouncing on my bladder. I've honestly never had to think so hard about whether I honestly needed to pee!

@thaisac1 I was just talking to DH about how amazing it is that they're getting so strong so fast! I can only imagine what it'll be like once they really put some meat on their bones, though.
  • Guys, I have a question. Im at 16+4 and since Sunday (16+2) I've been feeling tiny little nudges and almost like little popping bubbles in the area where I can feel my uterus. My question is can it be the baby this early as a ftm? Or should I assume they're gas or little spasms? I just feel like they're so random and perfectly placed to be where baby should be, but because it's so early, I feel like LO shouldn't be this strong yet, you know? Opinions?
  • @forthebest it definately could be the baby, especially if you have a posterior placenta. Its more difficult to feel with an anterior placenta. Everyone is a little different, some women can feel movement much earlier.
  • Finally started feeling some movement at 18w! Definitely skipped over the flutters and went straight to kicks and rolls this time.

  • I have an anterior placenta, so I feel like it may take H a little longer to feel it. He is so eager and basically pounces on me every time I say the baby is on the move. I can't wait for him to actually feel it.

I felt around 17 or 17.5 weeks with my first... so I'd say possible! If it's baby you'll know because it will keep getting stronger.

Mine too. Any time I sit I'm way distracted by all the movement, and my midwife couldn't get a clear shot of his or her business today because it was time to do flips and stuff. Annoying when LO is kicking me in the crotch, otherwise still pretty cool.
  • I have an anterior placenta, but at almost 19 weeks I still can feel my little guy nearly every day, regardless of if I'm standing or laying down! I've actually been feeling him for over a month. He's just extremely active!

He's just getting all his energy out now so he'll be ready to sleep through the night as soon as you bring him home from the hospital.  I mean, that's the only logical explanation that I can see.
bahahah... I won't hold my breath on that one! My son didn't STTN until he was 9 months old, and he still wakes up a few times a week.

  • @forthebest I'd guess it's your baby that you're feeling. I'm a FTM too and I felt the first flutters at 15 weeks and kicks from outside at 17. That seemed crazy early to me too, so I always added a disclaimer when telling people I felt it move they it could have just been a muscle twitch or something. However, now at 18 weeks, I have no doubt that what I've been feeling is the baby. I guess some of us just get to experience baby moving early.
  • @mccartra Im glad Im not alone! Im pretty sure its baby but i can't feel it on the outside yet. Im just hesitant to tell people because of the earliness, like you said. I guess we'll see if it gets stronger as LO grows! Thanks!
  • Been feeling flutters for about a week (ftm, just turned week 20!) But just NOW my lo did a full out SUMMERSAULT in there!!! No mistaking that Baby is awake and active now! Baby must know that Mommy is awake and at work and wants to show support;) I just had to share since this is definitely the COOLEST miracle I have felt!!
  • Today I'm 19 weeks and my mom just felt the baby while I was eating a sandwich!!!!! Yes I know odd breakfast choice but OMG!!
  • @elasticheart13 you have an anterior placenta too correct? When did you first feel your kick? I don't want to sift through these pages lol

Haha yes I do! I started feeling him roll and move when I was 19+4 but not while standing up. I have to be on my back and be completely still. The movement is getting stronger for every day though and I can feel him on the outside too!

  • 17.1 weeks and no kicks yet! I sit on my couch all awkwardly and very, very quiet (to concentrate lol) to see if I can feel something but nothing yet! I'm hoping soon. I'm ready to experience baby's first kicks already!
  • I flew DC to MN on Wednesday and LO was all excited!  Lots of movement (I'm at 18+3)...and now we're past the flutters/muscle spasm feeling into more firm nudges/what feel like flips.  I first felt baby move at 15+1 (posterior placenta and sitting very still).

I agree with @AmadorRose--I've never been keen on touching other people's bellies to feel baby kick (it's weird!), but it's so fun to feel it in my own belly!  (And yeah, the only person I'll invite to feel this is DH.)
  • I'm week 19 and still nothing.... Hope it's ok.

Urggg I want to feel him/her already! I'm barely 17 weeks though haha I feel like I'm always the lagger waiting to experience what you all are going through! *sits back down and (im)patiently waits turn*

I have a posterior placenta and I didn't feel anything until 17+4. Baby has been getting exponentially stronger and DH felt movement at 19 weeks to the day.

I'm anterior, and though I've been feeling movement for a while, we didn't feel him kick from the outside until last night at 19 weeks. :)

Mine is also anterior. I've been feeling a ton of movement for about 2 weeks now. Notably when I drank too much Dr Pepper the other day..... H has yet to feel it. He threatened to tie me to a chair and force feed me Dr. Pepper this weekend so he could feel it already!
  • I have an anterior placenta, and I'm really not sure if I've felt him or not.  He was literally swimming on the AS, but I'm not feeling him.  He's still pretty deep in the pelvis though.

  • Bumpity bumping this back to the first page, since I notice we've got a couple folks posting kick-related questions. And in response to those questions: yup, sounds like possible kicks to me! And 17 weeks and change as a FTM.
  • I'm 21 weeks pregnant and this is my first pregnancy, so I have no idea what it feels like. I'm overweight, so I was told it may take longer for me to feel anything. At the last ultrasound, the baby measured about six days smaller than it should be, so I may only be 20 weeks; I have 31 day cycles but they still measured conception on the 28 day cycle. This morning while I was driving, I felt a jab on the right side of my abdomen, almost like a pinch. It was very sudden and just as fleeting. It happened twice while I was driving and about four more times while I was sitting at church, and then it stopped. It was in the same spot each time. Can someone tell me if this was a kick or if it was something else?

Definitely could be! Tough to say for sure, but it's definitely right around the right time. I know for me, it took a couple of days feeling the same sensation to know for sure what I was feeling. Assuming it is baby kicks, you'll probably be feeling them more in the coming days, though, and any doubts will disappear!

Following-up my previous question, it's definitely baby! Baby's daddy felt him for the first time last night(17+1) while cuddling with my belly (kicked in the face!). He got the biggest smile and he's completely in love. Amazing..
  • I've been feeling baby since 13.5 weeks, but haven't felt it on the outside yet. However, this evening I laid down to check a heartbeat, and I guess it didn't like the fetoscope, because it kicked and I *saw* my belly move. I've definitely never seen movement this early before!
  • I'm 17+2 and i've only felt jabs in the lower tummy near down there, then jabs right under the ribs. Most of the time it seems to be pains from gas  Still waiting for clear flutters and signs of kicks/flips.
