Feeling a little guilty for just how done I am with the super powerful/painful kicks. Can we somehow magically get to the so-squished-he-can-only-squirm stage soon please? Movement = nice but this waking me up he's kicking so hard is no fun.

I feel you, especially the bladder kicks. I had a dream the other night that I was suddenly peeing the bed only to rush to the bathroom and not have to pee, not even a little. Kid's a jerk.

The kicking is also starting to startle me, specially when he kicks in the bladder and my ribs. Yesterday I was chilling on the couch and I saw him pushing my belly from the inside, that was pretty surreal :o

  • I'm 25 weeks tomorrow with my first and as strange as this sounds, I find the kicking and moving comforting. I love to watch my belly move when I'm laying down. On occasion I can grab DH's hand fast enough for him to feel a movement or two.

My 13 year old says she's never having babies, and it's partially because she's heard me liken movement to the movie Alien one too many times, haha!
  • @mojomama6 that is adorable haha, DHs reaction was hilarious. He was amazed but freaked out at the same time.

  • Feeling my little princess so much @24 weeks first felt her at 18 but now so strong and funny when my stomach moves
  • I feel my little Girl all the time! My DH keeps touching my belly waiting to feel her on the outside but nothing yet. If you were a little heavier before pregnancy when did you start feeling LO move from the outside? DH is anxious to join in on the fun of me feeling her all the time.

  • DS is moving so much now that I can easily get video of my belly moving at different times during the day. It's both fascinating and hilarious, but so...weird. I don't find it very uncomfortable yet; maybe in a few weeks!
  • LO keeps punching me at his future exit... Stop it, child... That's incredibly uncomfortable and makes me paranoid that you're trying to get out way too early.

  • My LO isn't really kicking hard. Everyone is talking about strong kicks, but he's just lying around in there barely moving half the time. The last ultrasound said he was at the correct size, so I'm not sure why he isn't kicking much. When he does kick, I can feel it, but they are still soft. No one outside can feel them yet. It's making me extremely paranoid.
  • My placenta is low lying so all I'm getting are bladder kicks. I'm kind of jealous of the rib kickers.

Same here, which is why it surprised me when I suddenly started feeling him kicking my ribs :#

  • So at 25 weeks I read that baby's heartbeat could be heard from outsidea the tummy, so I had dh try to hear it, and right when he put his head on my belly, baby boy kicked him HARD!!! So funny :)
  • Hey guys, I'm probably just paranoid but I'm getting really worried. I'm 25+5 now and yesterday LO was very calm and I barely felt him. I haven't felt him at all today and I am starting to freak out. Should I be worried? :/

There have been days when I have felt a lot less kicks and movements then others. During my US this week i noted that there are tons of times when he moves and I don't feel a thing. He literally needs to be touching the wall of the uterus for me to feel. Try drinking some cold cranberry or orange juice then laying quietly on your Left or right (or try both) to see if that helps you feel. It worked during my US and he moved a ton after we did that.
  • I ended up calling L&D as I was having a panic attack and they asked me to come in to make sure everything is fine. Will let you guys know what happens, hopefully it's just me worrying about nothing.

I'm sure it will be alright! Good vibes sent your way! Do update us!
  • @thaisac1 they immediately found his heartbeat and told me everything sounded fine but they found it weird that I haven't felt him kick. I was asked to give it until tomorrow and then call again in case I don't feel him so I can get an u/s.

This was my first time at this hospital which is also the hospital I am planning on giving birth in if we move back to Denmark in March and it was so overwhelming. I started crying immediately at the thought of being there to give birth. Damn these hormones.

  • How do you know if it's braxton hicks contractions or weird things the baby is doing in there?
  • Oh! It should be fine! I hope! I've noticed that if my little guy has been REALLY active for several days straight, he'll have one or two days where he'll barely move at all. Well... It's more like he sleeping a ton more... Or something... It's what it feels like. It's like he gets so excited he wears himself out, then he just decides he needs to take a siesta for a couple days.
I can't say I blame him. We're in the process of moving and packing and I feel the exact same way!

Try a very sweet cold juice and then lay on your side for a while. See if that helps :) depending on his position you may not be feeling his movements even though he is moving . I've had a couple of days like that (I calmed myself down as I have a Doppler at home), then the next day he would resume his usual soccer practice again. :)

Glad everything is ok and they found the HB quickly! Maybe baby is just resting after your late night last night? Wasn't it you who was up late? I'm sure everything is ok and agree with others to try the cold juice and laying down. :)

I was woken up for the first time by hard kicks way too early this am and I realized my stomach was growling with hunger. I imagine baby being like, "feed meeee, Seymour!!"

Aww don't be sad. Mine kicks far less when I don't drink enough water, I guess he dehydrates with me? I would try that.

Also a fetal HR monitor at home is really amazing. They are like $35 and alleviate so many worries. You can often hear kicks that you can't feel, they sound like a little interruption in the regular heartbeat. So if the baby is in a funky position and kicking towards the back, you'll still know it's happening.

  • @thaisac1 I've been lying down since I got back home and I finally felt a little fluttering <3 he's still not kicking as much as he usually does but I'm very relieved to feel him again.

@emgee27 yep it was me! I was crying and blaming myself for staying up late while DH was comforting me. The midwife I spoke to also told me that it shouldn't have been a problem that I stayed up late. Just really happy to know he's fine, it was terrifying when I thought something was wrong.

@Missingchampagne I did consider getting one but when I started feeling regular movement I figured it was unnecessary. I might look into getting one now :#

  • @elasticheart13 oh my gosh I'm glad everything is ok! That would definitely scare me. I know you have an anterior placenta like me, the tech told me it allows for the baby to face towards our back more often. So maybe he was just facing away and that's why you couldn't feel him. I know mine loves to show his butt off.

Yeah it was a pretty shitty day haha. What lacked in kicks all day he just made up for the past half hour. He kicked me so hard I thought I was going into labor. So yeah, he was definitely showing off his butt all day and preventing me from feeling him. :#

  • 26 weeks and ive been feeling movement since 16 weeks,, but she loves kicking my bladder,, ouch,, i can already see all the movement from the outside,, i am pretty small for 26 weeks
  • I swear this kid has zero room... Any little shift he makes hurts and moves my entire stomach. I am so uncomfortable... I can't sleep because LO keeps me up all night with kicks, punches, hiccups, and rolls. The only relief I get is when I walk.

  • How do you know if it's braxton hicks contractions or weird things the baby is doing in there?

I had trouble telling at first! But now I get Braxton hicks ALL the time! Especially towards the end of the day. It's like my entire lower abdomen is hardening. It's like a creating feeling that starts usually on one side, then the whole thing... And it lasts for at least 30 seconds. When it's the baby, it's just against one side or the other and it doesn't feel as weird and creepy.
But that's only for me. I think it's weird that I have so many some times.
  • I ended up going back to L&D around midnight as I didn't feel him all day yesterday so I was getting worried.

The doctor decided to scan me to make sure LO was doing fine. She measured him to be around 930g (around 2 pounds) which gives him a gestational age of 26 weeks (which I am today) and measured the blood flow in the umbilical cord and level of amniotic fluid where everything seemed perfectly fine. She found it really strange that his activity level had gone down like that and told me to bring it up with my midwife at my appointment tomorrow.

Today he is definitely making up for it as he's been kicking like crazy. She showed me that his feet were currently more on the right side of my ribs and I've been feeling activity there all day so I know he's fine <3
I'm so tired of constantly being worried for him and I just want to deliver him healthy and safe :( </p>

Sorry this is happening to you. Stress does horrible things to the mind, and you should be chilling out right now. I'm very glad to know he's ok.
  • @elasticheart13 Good to hear that LO is doing well! I hate it when baby decides to go from kicking like crazy to nothing. For me, usually lulls in activity mean growth spurt! The bump usually "pops" right after the lull.

  • Thanks girls, I'm tired of driving myself crazy with this. I'll talk to my midwife about it, as I know they offer something called comfort scans for mothers with anxiety every two-three weeks. They're supposed to scan me soon anyway to check if my placenta has moved, so perhaps she'll agree to get me scanned more often. I'll relax when we finally get back home and eat more ice cream <3

Just remember he is supposed to be sleeping in giant shifts of time, he may just be awake while you're sleeping or distracted and you're not even realizing it.
  • @elasticheart13 ugh! Glad to know LO is alright!!

That might be the case, combined with an anterior placenta and him shifting upside down which I felt him do the day before I stopped feeling him move a lot. The kicking has also changed as he is kicking my ribs most of the time now, so this might be the explanation. Thanks for all the comfort ladies :)

    Thanks boo <3

  • Over the past 4-5 days I have also shifted from feeling distinct kicks to just feeling movement. I feel him roll and move around several times a day, but haven't felt actual belly-deforming kicks for a few days. I have a Doppler and his heart rate has been same as usual -around 140bpm. I have just attributed it to position and haven't worried about it, but should I?
