Re: Feeling kicks thread

  • I've felt little flutters for about a week but today was the first time I felt distinct kicks and DH actually felt them too! I swear she was having a fit in there earlier - or maybe it was hiccups but for about 10 mins I felt constant little bumps. I'm sure it will get uncomfortable at some point but right now I'm loving it!

  • I am 19+3 today and he has been super active all day. I started to feel bubbles around week 16 and full on kicks week 17. I can see his kicks now. I try to record them but hes camera shy. He always stops when its recording lol. I usually only feel him when i am laying down or sitting but I felt him while standing up today and moving around. I think hes learning karate in there too because by bladder is getting it. Makes me smile everything I fell him.
  • I'm at 21 weeks now. I've been feeling him since week 16 (it felt like being tickled from the inside then). 18 weeks I felt the first "kick". And now it's been getting sorta fun. I can feel him squirm and kick and press up against the side of me. I notice that he has REALLY active days... And then days when I barely feel him at all. It's soooo much fun! I can't wait for the rest of you ladies to feel it!!! It will be soon! Don't worry!
  • I think that maybe I might have possibly felt something yesterday! I was sitting at my desk leaning forward and felt 3-4 soft sort of twitches with a minute or two. I sat back, adjusted my low panel (I hate low panel by the way... full panel for the win!) and it stopped... I was hoping maybe I'd intuitively know what a kick felt like... but I have no idea.
  • I've been feeling pretty strong kicks for the past couple weeks now, and finally DH is able to feel them from the outside too. I have to say that all this morning the baby feels like it is kicking me in my vagina...which is pretty uncomfortable. It almost feels similar to when you get a pap smear and they swab your cervix. I'm thinking that it probably isn't anything to worry about, but was curious if anyone else has had this feeling?

Lightening crotch, I hear it lasts until delivery. Totally normal but rather annoying.
  • @kalanieileen Typical boy. Already showing you his butt. ;-) We had the same problem at first where the baby wasn't really wanting to cooperate, and now he won't stop moving. At the ultrasound he gave us a very clear shot of what he is working with, so much so that our doc actually laughed a little bit. I don't think I've ever seen my husband so happy. Best of luck, I'm sure he's gonna start moving around soon.

This is exactly what it felt like and how it happened for me! A twitch is exactly how I would describe it too (not sure what a "flutter" is supposed to feel like lol). That was two weeks ago and it still feels like a twitch just happens more often with each passing day and gets a little stronger. Twice over the weekend I thought I felt it from the outside but I haven't since so who knows..

@allaire314 Yup! I think you did! I would describe my first for-sure sensations as twitchings and were most common when I leaned forward too.  YAY FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!
  • This has been bothering me for 2 days now. I was trying to just be patient, but I have to ask you all about it.

I've felt what I'm almosy certain are flutters since about week 18. I even felt more prominent movements like my baby was flipping. Now I'm almost at 21 weeks and I have not felt anything the past 2 days. I even tried to lay still in a quiet room.

I do want to mention that I'm overweight and I realize that it sometimes is harder for overweight women to feel kicks. But if I thought I've been feeling them all along, was I totally wrong or could something else be going on?

I really don't want to be that nervous Nancy who freaks out only to have my baby kick at a random moment. I'm just hoping some of you have had this experience or can explain why the flutters/movements would stop for days!

Everything is alright....no worries! I've been feeling my little guy since about 16 weeks (currently 21 weeks) and there are days when he is really active and then there are days at a time that I do not feel him at all. Feeling movement will not be consistent until a little later in the pregnancy!

I just went through the exact same thing a few days ago and I was starting to really freak out. I ended up going to my midwife because I was very worried and she found the heartbeat immediately. Two hours later he was kicking like a madman. It's very normal to not feel regular movement yet, so don't worry yourself sick :)

  • @kaitlyn592 I am almost 23 weeks and still haven't felt a kick. I'm also overweight and have been feeling irregular flutters every few days, so I get concerned when I don't feel anything for a few days. From what I've gathered from everyone else, it's normal.
  • I am 21 weeks and found out this week I have an anterior placenta. I was overweight when I got pregnant so the cards are all lined up for me not to feel much for awhile. I've heard with the anterior placenta you may not really feel much at all during the pregnancy or not until the very end. I've been feeling flutters for a week or two but they feel a lot like gas/digestion so I have no idea. I'm getting tired of people asking me all the time if I'm feeling baby yet! I know if I was feeling baby I would love to tell them all about it so he question isn't rude to me, just frustrating because I want to feel so bad!
  • I was so sad because I felt flutters for the first time and I couldn't post because the app is crap right now! But then I remembered I could go on the website on safari on my
Phone. So it is official ladies, I have felt my baby boy for the first time and I'm in luuurrrrrve!! :D

    Yay!!!

Yay so exciting! It's funny because I was sitting today and feeling him move like crazy and I was like "I wonder if @kalanieileen can feel her boy yet" :D

  • @amadorrose Lightening crotch, even if it is annoying the term makes me smile. :-) Thanks for answering!
  • So I know that I have felt some fluttering in the past few weeks, but I've been patiently waiting to feel an actual kick. Well tonight I finished a small set of exercises and went to lay in bed, and I think I felt kicking. They were tiny, but profound, something I hadn't yet felt. However, it stayed right on my bladder, like an irregular pulsing. Did I actually feel kicking? Or is my bladder reacting to the exercising? I'm not sure, but I really hope it was kicking.

@AmadorRose , define lightening crotch pls. :) I had this crazy feeling of pelvic vibration/ buzzing last night; the best comparison is having a cell phone vibrate under your skin in your pelvis, or if your uterus drank a carbonated drink. Is this what you call lightening crotch?

For me, it's sharp, quick jabs like she's kicking me in the cervix or vagina, and the pain shoots to my labia, usually making me jump a little because it's a very strange sensation. I've heard of the vibrating but haven't yet experienced it - though my belly looks like it vibrating sometimes when she's somersaulting. Does Luca ride low? DD rides pretty high so maybe it's something along those lines.

And now I'm imagining feeding my uterus Coke and hot dogs, because I'm tired and delirious!
  • Confession time: baby has spent all evening flipping around in there, and I feel like a bad mom for saying it, but... I'm over it. Her movements feel weird, and not in a good way. I don't necessarily want her to stop, because I do appreciate the reminder that she's in there and still trucking along, but I'm definitely not enjoying it anymore. Surely I can't be the only one.

You're not alone!! I don't mind the kicks or nudges (even though they feel very weird), but when baby flips or rolls, it makes me feel nauseous! It makes my stomach turn, like I have motion sickness, and that's not fun.

I tried explaining to DH that it's like being on a roller coaster when you go over a hill and it tickles your stomach.

Sometimes I want to tell her to settle down. Yet, I freak out when I actually don't feel her move for a while. ;-)

Yes he sits low, I think. A bit less low now then before, but I still feel his kicks low in my abdomen.
The vibration freaked me out the other day!

I feel the same. Sometimes it hurts and makes me feel like I am going to throw up. She kicks so hard sometimes if my little dog is sleeping on my lap it makes him jump.
I'm 21 weeks and kinda concerned about the intensity of her kicking getting to be too much to handle in the next few months

  • @AGK2015 I feel ya. Two weeks ago, I was begging him to kick.. And now, he's REALLY good at it.. And he likes to wake up early.
My husband loves to remind me of that every time I cring when he kicks now.
  • I'm 22 weeks, and my little one loves to dance on my bladder and kick my cervix. She also gets hiccups a lot, which is adorable. DH felt her do a good kick the other day and he was so excited. :)

  • Anyone else's husband complete disinterested in feeling the kicks from the outside? I've been feeling them for a couple weeks from the outside, and my husband has felt them ONCE, but is too impatient to keep his hand on my stomach for more than 3 seconds to feel it. When I finally called him out, he basically told me that he doesn't really feel a connection with the baby at all or care about (although he didn't sue that language) feeling kicks. It kind of hurt my feelings.

I know I'm being crazy because we already have a son and he is the most amazing and hands-on and loving dad... and I know scientifically men don't connect with babies in pregnancy in the same way that women do... but it still made me sort of sad. And ragey. haha.

DH is in the "eh, that's cool" camp. He could live without feeling the kicks and definitely won't wait with his hand in my belly to feel one. He's already a GREAT dad to our daughter, so I'm not too worried about his connection with this baby.

Thanks :) I know this logically, but he almost seemed more into the pregnancy last time. Bah!

I agree that this was kind of an annoying response...
Although my husband is incredibly connected with our baby already, he also doesn't have much patience waiting to feel kicks. He felt it a few times and loved it, but 99% of the time the baby stops moving as soon as he puts his hand in my belly. So while he does try to feel it still, he only waits for a few seconds - he's equally happy with me telling him what I feel instead.
  • Guys, I have a question-- I'm 24.4 weeks and normally feel my bunny kicking me hard, hard enough that I've actually caught it on camera already. Yesterday I was on my feet for eight hours in the sun (yes, I look like a lobster now) for work and almost passed put twice despite drinking water all day. Since then, her kicks have been light and far between. I'm worried that my core got way too hot yesterday and hurt the baby, but I can't visit my doctor until next week.
    Should I be worried? Or..?

You probably don't have to worry. The sunburn won't directly affect your pregnancy. A higher body temperature *can* cause birth defects, but I would think that's only for early development. If you were dehydrated, that may cause a problem, but you said you stayed hydrated? You yourself could have suffered from minor heat stroke (hinted at by saying you almost passed out). If you're worried, call a nurse at the nurse's station of the ob-gyn office and see if she can find an answer for you on whether or not it would hurt the baby. The fact that you still felt her move even though they are lighter is a good sign. Perhaps she just moved into a position that made it harder for you to feel.

Also want to add to @Bubbles3592 comment, everytime I'm sick I don't feel my LO as much. I think he just stays asleep because my body is stressed. Lord knows I wish I could sleep right now!
  • I'm 21 weeks and just starting to feel him move more and feel stronger movements! I started feeling it at 16 weeks but it was very rarely and hard to tell it was baby! I can't wait for the full on kicks and movements!
