Pregnant woman problems: I'm hungry an hour after lunch - of a cheeseburger and fries. I have a 1/2 bagel/cream cheese left to hold me over until dinner. There are 2 1/2 hours left to work. When do I eat the bagel???
I'm going to say in about an hour. It'll be tough but then you'll only have an hour and a half before you can leave, drive to the nearest food source and buy all of the food! I understand how you feel. I ate like a horse today but somehow my stomach is rumbling...wtf??
Another completely random thought I've had today, and I've kind of brought this up before...but is anyone else just having a hard time picturing adding another member to the family - like what does that +1 even look like in our family mix? I know I had that when we added DS2 - and I can't imagine life without DS2. A family of 5 just seems so unreal to me.

Random aside, my OB casually dropped that I may be hungrier more due to the testosterone because I'm carrying a boy...anyone heard of this? I can't compare because my first was a boy (and I ate all the things). I'm not saying I don't trust her, I do, I'm just hoping it's real so I can be like "Oh, I'm this hungry because it's a boy...it's science and stuff. Omm nom nom nom."

I have no idea because I can't compare a girl pregnancy at all. But yeah I have days where it's eat all the food and nothing fills me and then I've only gained 25/26 lbs max.

@skruhmin Just picture a family of 8 and sigh a big breath of relief lol! The only aspect I'm slowly starting to freak out about is when mine are 6, 8, 9, 14, 16, & 17 what exactly is my grocery bill going to look like?! I cook breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. That. Is. Scary!!! @-)

We have been trying for a long time to have our first child so now that I have been finding myself worrying about how it will affect my relationship with DH and our lives in general a little part of me feels so guilty. Obviously I knew that things were going to change, but now that it is actually happening I find myself having little bouts of anxiety over how we will manage, how dynamics will change, how we won't just be able to go to the movies (we are basically teens and "double feature" quite often lol), etc.
I should reiterate that I am very excited and happy to be having a child, but shit's getting real.

@skruhmin my son only eats vegetables if he can dip them into ketchup. I figure it's more lycopene and we use an organic ketchup with very little sugar so I'm not worried about it.

Yes, this is totally possible. I'll be completely honest here. At the current moment we actually budget $1000 a month for groceries. We haven't gone over that yet but that's what scares me. Kids only get bigger!

The change in dynamics is definitely different - and takes a lot to get used to. And I don't know how you feel about this but when you have a newborn, it's actually pretty easy to go to a movie - they sleep/nurse. When they get older and more aware, it's pretty impossible. But that's when you find someone you trust to be able to take baby for a few hours so that you can have that time to reconnect. I'm not going to sugar coat it - those first few months are the hardest of your life. You will be sleep deprived. You will want to kill each other. You think you're on a hormonal rollercoaster now? Ha! Post partum rollercoasters are crazy! But as long as you hang on to each other and know that the end of the craziness is in sight, you will make it. Your husband is your biggest advocate - LET him do things. Let him change diapers. Let him give bottles. Let him make the mistakes that new parents make and try not to get on his case because he's not doing it "right". Let him pamper you in the way you need. Let him give you an hour so you can leave the house and just walk through the aisles of the grocery store baby-less. Let him fall in love with the baby he helped create. Let him blast music if that's the only thing that helps baby sleep or calm down. He will do things that will drive you crazy, but try to hang on to how you fell in love with him. And fall in love with him again and again as he learns to become a daddy. It's actually a beautiful thing to watch.

Man oh man I am having wedding vendor selection déjà vu looking for a newborn photographer. I think I may have to reevaluate my career path!
(And to those that NEED to justify the prices of this stuff, I am well aware that professional photographers have to buy very very expensive equipment, are self-insured, etc etc and I know they are worth it. Still doesn't mean I can't think it's a small fortune.)
I am totally with you on this! I loved our photographer from our first but I called to tell her about my pregnancy and she told me she had just raised her rates from $500 to $700. I almost peed my pants. I could barely justify the $500 last time. Luckily it was a maternity plus a newborn session. We are looking for someone new now.
@SarahFoley725 I am so happy to hear you got great news!
@cmerribury I went through that with ds1. I was absolutely ravenous. I could never get full. This time I am having a girl and can tell a huge difference in my appetite.
Thanks for the encouraging words @oceanchild- it makes me feel better
But for now- Owie Owie owies!!! I've been getting these shots for 7 weeks now, and today is the first one that hurts like like a mo-fo! My butt is on fire and I can barely sit on my left (this week was left cheek week).

@flowerpower5838 try sites like livingsocial and groupon to see if there are any maternity/newborn packages. Or adopt a photographer sibling - being related to one has it's perks.

@flowerpower5838 I feel you. I sent my husband an article today about how love is a choice and you have to choose that person every day. I really liked it and agreed with what it said. This is our first baby too but I know things are going to be different. They already are different just with me being pregnant. It's hard to hold a conversation that isn't centered around the baby because that's the most exciting thing we have going on, but it's not fair to him to do that. Honestly I think all couples have to trial and error their way to successful relationship management when big things like this happen. It's going to suck some days and it's going to be hard but it's also going to be awesome.
I am craving all of the thing buffalo. I have already had wings 3 times this week. DH is working late downtown and DS and I stayed in pjs all day. I really don't want to have to go out but this craving is serious. The struggle is real. Plus that cake on @skruhmin 's final post. Killing me.

@cmerribury this is my second boy and I am ravenous right now too! There is seriously not enough food. Life has also been super stressful and that is not helping either.
So we brought Ds back to the pediatrician today. He has not eaten one morsel of food since Saturday morning. He is tiny to begin with (5th percentile) and has lost almost 2 pounds since we were there on Thursday. The doctor said it was normal given the medication and sore throat but I am an emotional and exhausted wreck. We have tried everything to get him to eat and Even taking the medication involves me holding him down and 30 minutes of crying. Dh isn't home much because he is in season and so it is just me trying to deal with it all. The doctor said as long as he is drinking (thank God for Apple juice and fruit punch) that we shouldn't worry unless he hasn't eaten by Friday. Easier said than done!
@stormiewinter I'm so sorry! Sick babies that refuse food are the saddest Did they say what's wrong with him? Was it strep or HFM? If his throat is super sore, I've found those Pedialyte freezer pops are so great, and really, anything cold (milk, cold water, cold pouches) are the easiest to swallow.
Finally getting to catch up (on the ketchup lol). I shudder anytime anyone mentions ranch dressing on TB though. On my last BMB (@maelic may remember this) someone talked about tipping in a UO thread, and it was like we had summoned the beast troll of the 9th realm of hell. This 'person' was KNOWN throughout the internet for bursting into random forums and talking about how she didn't tip some waiter who wouldn't bring her ranch with her meal............
It was torture.
Oh, and because someone mentioned it in a thread awhile back... I found Swiss Miss chocolate pudding at the grocery store today. I picked some up because I remembered that discussion.

Poor thing! Does he have a favorite food? DS got a little bug not long ago. He is also in the 5th percentile for weight so when he started feeling better we took him to Ihop because pancakes are his favorite. He ate all 5 silver dollar pancakes! I hope he feels better soon. That is so worrisome.

That sounds like when ds1 got herpangina (a relative of hfm). Scared us to death because he got up to 106* fever and wouldn't eat or drink. We had to bring him in for fluids. Hope he snaps out of it soon.

Traumatic night for ds2. First his foot was shut in a recliner going down. It's a little red and bruising a little on his ankle but he's putting weight on it and running around like normal. Then ds1 accidentally slammed ds2's arm in an antique trunk we have toys in. It's swollen but almost in a superficial way - like just a welt but no bruising and he's using his arm no problem. Any reason to be concerned about either of those? He's a tough cookie so I worry he's more hurt than he let's on buy I don't want to be one of those parents who brings kids in for a scrape.

Uh I'd wait til tomorrow. Even if something is wrong, which it doesn't really sound like is the case, waiting a few hours won't affect it in this case.
Awww I don't think the LO's are doing so hot!I hope they all get well soon...
My booty is STILL SORE from earlier! I bet it's going to bruise.
We are kind of excited tonight. We had elections, and one of our close friends was elected to City Council! It makes me happy
Omg my DH is being quite the woman tonight lol! I love him dearly and in some aspects like how sensitive he can be. But tonight all I have heard is "I can't wait for next Wednesday" (our follow-up a/s), "I can't wait for March" and all talk about how we are finally getting our baby, and because I'm on here bumping he then says, "it's not fair- why don't they make a discussion board for men with pregnant wives?" Really? And I'm over here thinking "I want sleep", "I got bad gas", and "my ass hurts". We have definitely switched roles tonight lol...

Well he could technically make a profile and get on here too...
@Stormiewinter sorry to hear your little one still isn't feeling good. Does your son like marshmallows?? I know it's weird but I got strep all the time as a kid and marshmallows helped with the pain of a sore throat maybe he'll eat if his throat doesn't hurt as bad. Hoping he feels better soon. My son's fever finally broke last night so he'll be heading back to school tomorrow.

As long as he's using both extremities I wouldn't be concerned. If he can't walk on his foot or he starts favoring his other arm, so much that he won't even reach for a special treat with his hurt arm- then it's something to get checked out. If he's sore try alternating Children's Tylenol and Motrin.
