Re: October/November IVF

  • **warning BFP mentioned**

@villacis811 Sorry! Totally lurking from oct/sep board. While it's bothersome, the bleeding will not impact your success! I bled the first few days on stims after OCPs and during OCPs grrrr!

But... I had 26 eggs retrieved and ended up with 10 embryos, so, definitely didn't cause issues although I remember at the time being concerned. If it bothers you, I strongly recommend drinking red raspberry leaf tea every day up to implantation. It will help shed the lining quickly and grow in a fabulous new one. I had more than 9mm at my ET despite the initial bleeding and ended up with a BFP. :) GL! I hope you have a fabulous cycle and your own BFP!!!

  • I concur.  Been having spotting for 2 weeks on BC which I assumed was normal, but called the IVF nurse yesterday and she confirmed it was normal.  Said to just try and bear with it until it's finished.  Sounds like the stims bring a whole new round of fun with bloating and weight gain.  Think anyone will notice if I wear sweats to work? Lol!

Anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend to try and keep the mind off hormones and needles?  DH and I are attending a navy ball tomorrow, but I also need to sit down this weekend and organize my meds for the next couple weeks!  Both DH and I have to start 10 days of Doxycycline on Wednesday, blech.
  • Hello ladies!! The hubs (35) and I (30) have been TTC for 4 years now with 2 MC. My suppression check is set for the 28th this month and I start the lupron injections on Monday. My husband and I are in disagreement over how many embryos to transfer (1 or 2). Anyone else? Nervous and excited. Good luck everyone!
  • @briifigueroa, @tatkat54,  @HBamama2B thank you its good to know Im not the only one. I will go pick up that tea ASAP. Congrats on your BFP.

@erinscaren. we will be celebrating my brother- in -laws b-day tomorrow and apple and pumpkin picking on Sunday! Looking forward to some fun distractions. Feeling a lil nervous about my stims tonight.

  • @kflick85 we are only doing 1 no matter what. I am a nanny for (ivf) twins that just turned 1 but were born at 26 weeks. The mom (as most mom's of multiples) had a super hard pregnancy and we are still dealing with the after effects of low birth weight (again, very common in multiples). I have a friend who transferred 2 and one split, so now they are pregnant with triplets!!!! That is very dangerous for both mom and babies. Most clinics are worried about their success rate and are less concerned with if you end up with multiples or a singleton. We would rather do more tries and end with a healthier baby and safer pregnancy than take the risk to increase our odds. :) just my thoughts and I am sure everyone has their own opinions and reasons for what they choose.

  • @Hbamama2b which tea brand did you buy?

    Thanks
  • I am Cassie, The hubs and I are both 30 and will have our first round of IVF! After many IUI's and 2 heavenly babies this was our next step! I am excited and nervous both!! Scheduled to start Gonal-F on the 21st also and my ER is around 11/5!! So hopefully we'll be right there together!!
Thanks for starting this group!! We all need the support of each other!!!
  • @mrsgeorge66 Welcome to the group! You, @Rachd110 and I should all be around the same time as far as ER.  Mine is supposed to happen around 11/9.  We got a good group of supportive ladies here to help us through!
  • I'm feeling down and out tonight.  I'm 8dp5dt and started spotting.  I'm thinking I'm not even going to make it to my beta on 10/21.  :((
    <a href="http://www.thebump.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Ovulation Calculator"><img src="http://global.thebump.com/tickers/tt1d1ea1" alt=" Pregnancy Ticker" border="0"  /></a>
  • @2mommiesforbaby dont worry yet! I had redish/brownish spotting on 8dp5dt too. I was freaking out. I havent had any symptoms all the time at all.. I mean maybe some but i had to look for them... Went in formly beta on day9 and its a bfp. My second beta was friday and still great numbers.. Dont worry yet. Might only be spotting from implanting. I also had spotting on d9
  • @2mommiesforbaby I know it's scary! But, it could be a very good thing, are you on PIO? What was your day 21 progesterone level? If you are on PIO and your cd21 pg count was over 20.... :)
  • @Christiniv - thanks for the encouraging words! The spotting is almost non-existent today! I'm planning to test at home tomorrow so I'll keep you posted.

@HBamama2B - I'm actually doing the progesterone suppositories three times a day instead of PIO.  I know my RE has some people on PIO, but I haven't yet discovered how he makes the choice between the two.  It's on my list of questions to ask if this cycle doesn't work out for us.  He doesn't have us doing a progesterone level - just the beta on 10/21.
    <a href="http://www.thebump.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Ovulation Calculator"><img src="http://global.thebump.com/tickers/tt1d1ea1" alt=" Pregnancy Ticker" border="0"  /></a>
  • Progesterone supplement or PIO is good, either should prevent AF from coming which means the spotting is most likely related to something fabulous going on in there. GL!!
  • @2mommiesforbaby that sounds great! So i guess implamentation! FX!!!!! I wanted to make a HPT so bad but i chose not to do it and that was a good choice for me.
I am on supplements 3 times a day top!!! I took pio during my forst cycle- very happy i have supplements now !! Good luck
  • @2mommiesforbaby congratulations!!!! Hooray! So happy for you mamas 2 :bz ! I thought that was the case given your spotting on progesterone. So glad you got your BFP, keep us updated on your betas!

Hope to see many more for this group!!

  • Hello ladies! I'm new to the forum and this whole confusing infertility thing. I apologize in advance for not having all of the acronyms down just yet lol.

A little about us.. Hubs had two forms of lymphoma as a child and part of his treatment was radiation to his groin. I have a two year old little girl from a previous marriage. We tried to conceive naturally for about 8 months but he was worried that as he gets older our chances won't look so good. (He's 29 I'm 24 so we're actually babies ourselves but he worries) Went in for a semen analysis and doctor said there are very few living sperm and that in a few years there could be none at all. IVF with ICSY is our only option. We kind of knew going in that IVF would be our answer (before we started dating he gave me a heads up about possibly not being able to have kids.)

We have chosen to not tell friends and family as we don't want people asking how we're doing constantly so I have no one to talk to which sucks but I've been stalking this page for a few days lol. I'm on the BC pills and start Lupron this Wednesday!

    Baby dust to us all!!

  • @thejessicanicol Welcome! It sounds like we have very similar situations. I am also here because of male infertility (plumbing issue with DH, vasectomy was unsuccessfully reversed). We are also going to be doing IVF with ICSI. Sounds like we are on almost identical schedules, I am on the BC now and also starting Lupron on Wednesday. I have learned a lot by lurking the Sept/Oct board and by being on this board. It's nice to have people to talk to about it all. Our families know what's going on, but we have left most of our friends out of the loop because we don't want to have to answer too many questions. FX for us all!
  • @HBamama2B @emsmama15 @erinscaren - Thanks for the support! I can't wait to see what's ahead!

@jessicanicol welcome! It really is great to have some extra support and although we don't know each other its always nice to be surrounded by others going through the same process.

Hi ladies, new to the board but longtime lurker :) My story is similar to some of the others. I'm 29, my husband is 32. My husband had to undergo chemotherapy in 2008 which resulted in a zero sperm count. Thankfully, he banked a sample and we're undergoing IVF with ICSI and I'm currently on birth control with stimulation starting in early November. I'm not nervous about the physical aspect of IVF (I'm a Type 1 diabetic so I rely on giving myself insulin injections everyday so the needles dont scare me), but how do you handle the emotional aspect of it? I don't know if its better to be hopeful and positive, or just assume it's not going to work so I can be pleasantly surprised if it does? How do you all balance it?!
  • Took a HPT this morning. It's been 10 days since the transfer and it was a BFN. Still hoping but not so sure. Beta Thursday. Trying not to be bummed yet.
  • Hi Everyone

My FET is set up for Nov 4th but two days prior to that I will have a cervical dilation.
Has anyone had one done before a FET and how you feel after

Thanks and GL to all of you ladies
  • Congratulations, @2mommiesforbaby

Welcome thejessicanicol. You'll find that everyone on this board is very supportive.

So how was everyone's weekend? I was offline all weekend and it felt good. We went to a pumpkin patch that had a huge corn maze, ate some delicious fall donuts and drank apple cider. I can't wait to have a little one to bring along on these outings.

Thanks for the warm welcome @rachd110!

So I'm on day 3 of injectables. Anyone else feeling like crap on them? I woke up with a massive migraine and was out for the count all day Sunday - :(

I keep reminding myself that it's all worth it in the end ....

@BriiFigueroa- I've been laying low.  been wanting to do yoga, but these meds are wiping me out.  I am getting weekly massages, and have my first acupuncture this week just to see... I can't do anything i used to do to pass the time because the RN scared me about working out and the potential for ovarian tortion.... She said no abdominal work, no twisting. I like to golf and kayak, which are heavy in the abs... I'm bored to be honest!
  • @smitty18 oh man no working out while stimming? This is good to know. I start my stims on Sunday.

@smitty18 I think it's great you and DH could come to a compromise, no matter what it had to be.  Now you can move on to the next step in the journey to little one!  Plus, it sounds like your clinic is pretty awesome!  Which state are you in?

@becks0143 congrats on your FET!  Sending you good baby vibes for a BFP!

@laneke3 This board has been helpful for the emotional part.  It's been nice to read messages and talk to other women going through it, too.  It's kind of the safe zone where you can talk about every worry that pops into your head without wondering if you are driving your friends/family crazy about it.

@rachd110 We had a good weekend, too.  Stayed busy with fun stuff so didn't think too much about needles, ultrasounds and bloodwork for once! :)  My RE also said no strenuous activity by day 2 or 3 of stims.  Fragile little follies and concern for ovarian torsion (ouchie).

@teridanielle Yay!  FX that your little snowflake is growing away in there!
  • @smitty18  I understand how you feel. Today is day 4 for me and although the first two days seemed easier last night was a little rough on me. I am hoping this time goes by quickly. I went for my first acupuncture session last Friday my first day of injections and I really felt much better after. I felt a little more at peace and I tried not to think too much about this whole situation the whole weekend.

Ladies my gonal F dosage was decreased today.... has anyone else had their dosage decreased?

  • Hubs and I meet with our nurse tomorrow so she can show him how to do my injections. We can do either my lower stomach or upper thigh. Have any of you found one to be better than the other? I'm nervous about the pain because I hate needles but I really want to do whichever area will give us better chances!

  • @thejessicanicol I've been told abdomen for mine, but just speaking in general as a PA, a subcutaneous injection is a subcutaneous injection either way, so I can't see why it would make much of a difference.

@thejessicanicol I always did anywhere on my stomach just over an inch from navel. They were painless. And did them myself every time. I am nervous about starting the PIO though.
