I just talked to my clinic it looks like my little embies are doing better today . They told me I had four yesterday because one of them wasn't really growing. But it cought up so now I have 5 again. Hope they make it through the night. Transfer on Sunday
@smitty18 I just had my first acupuncture appointment. I totally feel asleep for about 15-20 minutes. I feel very relaxed. I have another appointment scheduled for next Friday. Good luck on your retrieval!
My medication is still not ready for delivery. The pharmacy has been great at keeping me updated. My friend who is now 5 months pregnant after her 4th IVF cycle gave me her leftover Follistim and a brand new pen. It will hold me over until I get my meds. It expires next month...is should still be good, right?
@Rachd110 as long as the vial containing the liquid hasn't been punctured yet (a needed used), it should be good. Once you use a needle, it expires in 28 days. From, what I've heard, the concern in that case is more about getting an infection in case bacteria was introduced into the vial. A lot of clinics have samples they can give out to hold you over. Maybe call your clinic and see, especially since the mistake was on their end. A sample from my doctor saved me when a fraud alert was triggered and my credit card declined the charge preventing on time shipment.

I have to use Prime Theraputics in order for my insurance to cover partial medication costs. My meds are not ready! My insurance needs to review the case because of the large order of follistim. They are asking for at least 72 hours. I called my clinic and they said I can use my friend's leftover follistim. They gave me 4 new cartridges and a brand new pen with four or five unused needles. My clinic did say they have a supply as well, but I definitely won't make it there before they close. My friend is a lifesaver. I love how IVFers stick together.
@Rachd110 should be good- meds are good for a year - if it was opened it should have been refrigerated. But at this point, it's lucky you have that to fill in the gap! I just scheduled my implantation acupuncture. I have it in the RE's office one hour prior to my implantation, and for 15 minutes after the implantation. Studies have shown a 50% higher rate of successful implantation if done. So if you liked the experience, I'm all about anything that helps!!!
@poeface, I'm pulling for you! I feel like every day until implantation will be stressful! Good luck on Sunday. Keep us posted!
@Rachd110 Yes, those new cartridges will be perfect. I'm so happy you had a friend to help out!! Good luck with everything!
@smitty18 once it is punctured, it's 28 days even if refrigerated. I asked my RE and doctor family members why 28 days since I had 3/4 of a pen left from a prior cycle that gave me cysts and delayed the start of my next cycle. I ultimately decided the risk of infection wasn't worth it. If I was in a pinch I would have risked it just after 28 days, but not 5 months later.

@rachd110 Ugh just what you need, MORE stress to accompany this process, right?
Finished the bc today and almost time for my nightly Lupron injection! I am pretty good at self injecting, I must say! I am working this weekend, so goodnight all you mamas to be, baby dust to us all!
@smitty18 , @rachd110 I was able to fall asleep and relax during my acupuncture appointments. Are you ladies going seeing someone that specialize in fertility?
I was told today I will probably be doing the trigger shot tomorrow and retrieval will be on Monday. I have to add Lupron bc of my estrogen level. I'm not sure what I am supposed to be feeling at the moment. At times I feel very optimistic and other times I feel like I shouldn't get my hopes up because I don't know if this first cycle is going to work. How do you ladies handle these emotions?
@erinscaren - I'm thinking singleton. We only transferred one embryo, and although identical twins is possible, I think it unlikely! I guess we won't know for sure until my first ultrasound, which I think won't be for another two weeks or so.
My ER was yesterday 15 eggs and 9 fertilized. I was hoping for a day 5 transfer, but my clinic does do them for anything under 10. :-S ET is set for monday. Then the dreaded 2ww...
Thanks @BriiFigueroa I will be crossing my figurative for your as well on Monday. Looks like we will be doing our 2ww together. Have any plans to pass the time?
I'm on the long Lupron plan and this morning was my fourth injection plus I have been taking BC since last week. I noticed that I'm starting to get terrible acne and very dry flaky skin. I don't see the dry skin as a side effect on my Lupron sheet. Have any of you experienced this? I've always had good skin and now here is one more thing to stress about
@villacis811 I go to an acupuncturist affiliated with my clinic. They specialize in fertility, but my therapist told me any one can treat for fertility and she treats all diagnoses- allergies migraines, pain, etc. I don't think that part is as important as the day of ET. Talk to your clinic and see if they'll let the acupuncturist come in.
@poeface not really. I'm maybe a massage after my transfer. I'll also try to bury myself into my knitting and work. Do plan to test early? I'm tempted to. I did a Lupron trigger so I don't have to test out.
@villacis811 Great news! Hoping for an awesome retrieval!
@BriiFigueroa sounds like you had great fertilization results! FX for you on Monday!
@thejessicanicol I have done 3 lupron injections and the only thing I have noticed from it is a very slight headache right after I take it, but I take it at 9pm and go to sleep around 10 so it hasn't been too problematic. Thinking skin issues may be because of the bc though. When do you start stims?
@poeface will be thinking good thoughts for you tomorrow!
@villacis811 yes, I'm seeing an acupuncturist that specializes in fertility among other things. I found some places that only do fertility, but they were much more expensive than the place I decided on. She about one mile from my home, so pretty convenient.
Hi Ladies, we are going to do our first IVF cycle in Jan. Were due to start in Dec but alas the doc goes on vacation [-( lookomg forward to prepping my body and mind with some gymming, great eating and pottery classes. I see some of you are starting a cycle in Oct/Nov? Have a blessed day all!
@Carlaisy very exciting time. I started my priming on oct.8th and hope to have ER this coming wed or thur. I had a very hard time getting my brain to relax, specially at bedtime. I started listening to meditation videos on YouTube and i love it. I totally recommend it to help get get your mind focused on the positive...you can search for "guided ferlity meditation" and just plug in your earphones. You will wake up ready to take on the crazyness. Good luck to you!!
@amos1417 when is your ER? I had my u/s and labs on Fri but was not ready yet (womp womp wooomp) good thing us that my follies are all growing at the same pace going back on Monday so FX that i am ready to trigger [-O<
Hello all needs some reassurance. Tomorrow I go in for my egg transfer. I had my ER this past Wed 10/20..had 28 retrieved got a call Sat with 16 still kicking. Only thing is I have a mild case of OHSS....I cannot get over this bloating. I am miserable...cant wear normal clothes, cant get a good work out, cant each much. I was doing great this round with IVF and being positive and healthy. I feel like I lost it. Need a pick me up before tomorrow. Anyone ever had mild OHSS....how long will I feel this way? TTC-16months 3IUIs unsuccessful 1 IVF Age 31
@picare88 hi! Dealing with that right now myself. Had my retrieval this morning and have been in pain and bloated now for 3 days. What meds did they put you on? Ps congrats on all the eggs!! Just keep your head up and listen to the docs. If you can't do a live transfer bc of the ohss it's because it won't implant. It's for the best. Sending warm thoughts your way!
Hey ladies, I'm transferring over from Sept/Oct board. I need to play catch up lol
I started IVF this cycle, tonight will be day 4 of injections. First 3 nights went well. Night one was interesting (to say the least), but now that we have the hang of it, it's getting easier.
I went for US this morning. I have 8 follicles; it's a good number, but I was expecting higher. I know all I need is 1, but I worry about fertization.
My doctor started on a low dose of meds. Each night (1-3): Menopur= 1CC of liquid to 2 powders Follistim= 150ml
He may increase me tonight, we shall see.
I need to be caught up, anyone else stinking right now?! Anyone waiting on Beta?
Fingers crossed for everyone!

@colleen0516 I have been following the sep/Oct group and saw the story of the needle in your leg and saw the bruise! Ouch! We have a couple people in their 2ww (@poeface@BriiFigueroa). There are a few ladies already stimming and getting ready for their ER.
Hi @colleen0516! Good luck with your follicle development! If it gives you any hope my first ultra sound only showed 6 follies >10, and 6 <10. I didn't think I'd have enough and now I'm bordering on OHSS.
Happy hopeful update: I had my ER yesterday, and had 18 eggs retrieved! I did go early (day 9 of injections), so I was concerned as to how many of those would be mature. The nurse called today and said 8 were mature and 8/8 fertilized! I am so happy I could float away, as this was always the big question mark for me and my husband - since i never even had a BFP with him before.
Now I know I have a few days to go here, but with that question answered, I am so hopeful for my ET on Friday- how is everybody else doing? I hope you all had a nice weekend -
@smitty18 your numbers were great! 8 fertilized would be awesoem! I would be so happy, but I'm nervous that since I only have 8 follicles... Will the all be mature? Will they all fertilize? No clue, and no control. Eek! Just gonna have to wait and see!
So here's a question: There's only one egg in each follicle right? So 8 follicles will mean 8 eggs? Maybe not all mature but the numbers correlate, right?

@colleen0516 - you have time to grow more! I thought 6 mature and 6 small follicles was it for me but I ended up with over 24 follicles 5 days later, and 18 eggs in my ER. I found out today that only 8 of those were mature. Fear not -all it takes is 1 egg. My dear friend had a cycle with only 3 eggs, and only one fertilized. She just had that baby, so the numbers aren't always indicators of the result. I totally agree, the waiting and lack of control is the hardest part. Theoretically one egg = one follicle but not every follicle always has an egg. They can't tell which follicles have eggs via US, and can only tell which follicles has an egg when they do the ER.
The best judge of which have eggs are the size of the follicle. By the time they trigger you, your doctor is looking for a certain number of follicles to be >21.
This same friend told me some good advice in going thru this process... just when everything seems to be running smoothly, there is usually a new bump in the road. Take it as it comes, because the stress of worrying about what might be or what could happen is not good for your body. Easier said than done I know!
I learned that lesson today when the nurse called and said URGENT your husband's blood work is not on file and we can't do the live transfer until we have that! was not expecting that call at all! Out of left field too since I had all our files transferred when I changed clinics!
@smitty18 expect the unexpected is my motto! But it's usually to prepare myself for the bad curveballs... I guess I never thought to apply it to this situation! Thank you! Now I'm gonna hope for the unexpected (for once lol) and pray more follies grow!
