I don't feel an attachment yet to this pregnancy or this baby but after looking at other peoples ultrasound shots I think having mine will change that. My appointment is for Oct 21st...2 weeks of waiting to go!
I'm headed for an US next week. According to the fire date calculator I'm supposed to be 8 weeks 5 days now, but I'll put up a pic next week when i get one. My doctor didn't have me get an early US for my second baby, so i feel the pain of all the ladies who have to wait until 20 weeks!!!!
Had our first appointment yesterday. Baby measured right on track at 9w1d with a due date of May 10th! Very grateful that everything is going well so far.
Just curious... does anyone know why in some US pics the baby takes up way more space than in others, where it looks like the baby is floating in a black sea lol? Is that just the size of the uterus? Will the larger uterus just shoe a bump earlier?
I just found out yesterday I am carrying fraternal twins. One heart beat is not visible at 8weeks. They said I could be earlier than we think. They said there is hope and to wait another week and see if it developed. Anyone have experience or advice with this? I have had a previous mc and I had bleeding a couple weeks ago. It was about a small tampon full, but it stopped pretty quickly. I'm trying not to be emotional either way, but you know.
New discussion button is missing for me on my laptop. I had my first appt today expecting to be 8 weeks based on LMP. They did a transvaginal ultrasound because they were worried about a possible cyst and the sac was measuring at only 5w4d. You couldn't see anything in it yet. Based on when I think I ovulated, this would make sense... my cycles are usually long... but that didn't stop me from bursting into tears. Neither the tech or the doctor were worried and they want me to come back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound, but I'm freaking out. Is 5w4d just too early to see anything? Did anyone else have their EDD completely wrong when they went for an ultrasound?
If your cycles are unusually long, you shouldn't have based how far along you thought you'd be on your LMP. So, if you are only 5w4d, seeing the gestational sac sounds fine. I only saw the gestational sac at 5w2d, saw the yolk sac four days after that and saw the heartbeat at my 7w appointment. I know it's really hard (especially when so many other women see things a lot earlier), but try to remain calm and think positively.
Gah! I go for my first ultrasound in two hours and I'm a nervous wreck. I'm so distracted with my toddler, work, being in two weddings the last few weeks, and my DH being out of state the last two weeks that I've barely payed attention to how I'm feeling. I hope our little bean is hanging in there! Morning sickness is still lingering at 9.5 weeks, but I know that doesn't mean everything is ok with baby. Symptoms haven't been bad this time around, but I have heard that could be due to having my kids just a couple years apart. So anxious!
Can I just ask other mamas who had recent CS (within the last three years) if the external US felt like your insides were being ripped apart? When the tech pushed down (fairly gently too) I almost kicked her in pain. I have a ridiculously high pain tolerance, but the pressure of the US wand right on my scar was probably the worst pain I have ever felt. I swore my uterus was being torn asunder. Can I just always get a transvaginal? It is sooooo much more comfortable! And aparently now I am a wuss when it comes to pain.

She only tried external for a sec because I'm not very far along but no pain or issues here. I don't see any problem with asking for transvaginal going forward! All they can do is say no, doesn't hurt to ask.
Im 8wks today and went for my first ever ultrasound after 2 mc. It was great. I was measuring around 9wks though, which is also a plus! We got to hear the strong heart beat and see it wiggle around! It is just so amazingwhat our bodies do!
Got my first ultra sound today. She told me my doctor would tell me how far along I measured and stuff but we saw a heartbeat! Best news after a loss in May.
8 week ultrasound and there's twins! We were only able to see one heart beat and they thought I'm a week behind where I thought I was so please send good growing thoughts my way. Headed back in a week to hear Baby B. also if anyone has had experience in this area, please advise.
Had my first appointment yesterday and got to meat Bean! (That's what the husband and I call the baby!) We even heard a strong heartbeat!! Today makes 8 weeks!!! Very excited as this is our first!
Here's my LO... with my cat! This will be our social media announcement. Funny, but when I was taking these pics last night she kept swatting at the sonogram. Sibling rivalry already ?!
Hey all! I am kind of freaked out, but didn't want to start a whole new thread.
I just got a call from my OB office that they want me to get another US on Monday, but this time at the hospital. I asked if anything was wrong (at my last appointment, I am not sure if the OB was able to look at the US before seeing me since I had the appt with her right after the US), but the receptionist was all cheerful and peppy and said "Oh, I think they just want to have another set of eyes on the baby." I asked who it was and she said the maternal-fetal health specialist from Tufts (big hospital in Boston). I knew I would be consulting with them because of my HR status and weight, but I had an appt with them for a consultation and US for November 30th at 8am in the city, so I am still confused why I now have this last minute US so close to my last one. This will be the 3rd US in a month!
Of course, in my mind, I am 100% sure EVERYTHING is wrong. I don't want to keep bugging my OB and am trying to talk myself off the ledge, but just wondering if anyone else had a F/U US so close to their first and if it seems like just a precaution or if I should prepare for...something else? I just told everyone at church and work and my son is so excited about the baby. It would absolutely break my heart if something is wrong.
@laurenmdrn16 I'm so sorry, not because I assume anything is wrong but because I can totally understand how worried you are. Could you call them and ask for more information about the appointment? Or email your doctor? My OB is very responsive on email. Please, please keep us posted! FX for you!!!
Thanks ladies. I never thought about email @ladysamlady ! That would be best because I can easily write an email at work, but calling when I have kiddos coming into the clinic is tough, especially if the news isn't so great. My tear ducts are on a hair trigger as of late and it really freaks the students out to see the nurse blubbering.
@laurenmdrn16 - I hope everything is ok, sending all the positive thoughts your way. With DD something similar happened to me after my NT scan and I had to make a number of MFM specialist visits before they were confident that everything was ok. Not exactly the same as what you're going through, but sometimes DRs just like to be extra cautious. I know this is the scariest thing. Hang in there, and please keep us posted.
@laurenmdrn16 ::hugs:: Sending positive thoughts, prayers, and vibes your way for your Monday u/s. Hopefully they're just being cautious because of HR status. I'd definitely call or email for more information if you can.

Headed in this am to have second ultrasound. I need all the strength and good energy that's possible now. Definitely very nervous.
