Ultrasound Thread

Hey May Moms, I think we're ready for an ultrasound thread! Post pics here!

As a reminder, be sure to crop out any personal/identifying information - Internet safety is important.

I had my first ultrasound last week, I measured 6 weeks 4 days. Seeing the heartbeat flicker was one of the best moments of my life!

I was pleasantly surprised by an ultrasound at my appointment today! Measuring right on track and he said everything looks good with our little tadpole!

At 6 weeks today, we got to see our little peanut and the heartbeat : )

Had my first ultrasound on Saturday and everything looks good! Confirmed edd of May 1. What an amazing sight to see the tiny little heartbeat. Counting down the days until I get to see this little buttercup again :x

This was at 6 weeks. Our due date is May 4th! We got to see the heart fluttering away!

Twins! Ultrasound at 7 weeks. Got to see both heartbeats and hear twin B's. Twin A is about 4 days behind but we should get to see them and gear both heartbeats next week

We were able to see and hear the heartbeat yesterday! According to LMP I thought I was 7 weeks but baby is measuring 6w3d with heart rate of 120 bpm. Dr said it's less than a week difference so we'll keep the same due date. Going back in two weeks for another ultrasound just to make sure growth is on track. That makes me a little nervous but I don't know when I ovulated so I'm probably just not as far along as I thought.

Me too. My office does obviously check the heartbeat with a Doppler so I will get to hear the heartbeat but I won't get to see anything until 20 weeks. I want to see my baby! By 20 weeks I'll be crazy.

I'm right there with you ladies! I don't think i'll even get in for an appointment till around 14ish weeks due to insurance issues. But as long as the belly starts growing, then i'll probably calm down some.

OMG I would die if I had to wait until 20 weeks! Why???? There is usually one by 12 weeks at the latest. Typically you can tell if there is an indication for genetic abnormalities at that point and determine if an amino is needed.

I love seeing all these pics! I am jealous too, I can't go until 8 weeks to have the transvaginal ultrasound. Counting down the days.

My midwife will do one before if anything in the blood testing comes back abnormal, if you are older, or if there is family history of issues. But if everything looks ok then they wait.

I won't even hear the heartbeat until 12 weeks.

I won't even hear the heartbeat until 12 weeks.

Yeah... I'll be pretty close to 11 by the time I go for the heartbeat. The only reason it's that early even is bc the next week I'll be out of town. Glad to know I'm not the only one who will be going nuts.

This was taken 2 days ago, and measured 7w4d, which is 2 days ahead of where I thought I was, but I guess bigger is better, right? lol. The tech said everything looked perfect, and the heartbeat was at 134 bpm. I can't wait until my next appointment on Oct 6!

Had my first U.S. today and saw the little heartbeat due to late ovulation I'm measuring at 6 weeks (instead of LMP's estimated 7.5 weeks). Heart rate was 114 and they like to see it over 120 so I'll go back in a week for another U.S. They say it's nothing to worry about but allows me for another U.S.

I have my first doctor's appointment today! These have made me so excited...and nervous! I think I'm 6 weeks + x days, so I'm hoping my ultrasound shows some great things!

Not the clearest of picures but there is a baby with a heartbeat beating at 140 bpm!! I am dating 6w4d...told all looks great!

We have 4 days more to go before our 7 week ultrasound at the RE's office. Can't wait, seriously it seems like one of the biggest moments in our life.

Thanks...We want to go together, too, but I wasn't sure if the first visit if that was appropriate. I don't know the rules!

@vinerie DH came with me to the basic appointment and then to my US yesterday. I think anything is appropriate based on what you want! I know I wanted to see the heartbeat with him

However, he was a bit uncomfortable when he found out what a Pap smear/swabbing for testing entails. Welcome to being a woman and doing this every year haha!

@vinerie - I wasn't planning on bringing mine bc of his work schedule, but he decided to come anyway since I'm only getting one this early bc of spotting/cramping. In general, it's totally fine to bring SO!! It's a big moment!

ETA: I told myself I wasn't going to look at this thread until after my US this afternoon, but I did anyway, and I have to say I'm super excited for all you ladies who have had successful ultrasounds and who have gotten to see your little nuggets!!!

DH came with me to this first U/S appointment and went to all of the appointments with DS. This time I expect that he'll come to the U/S appointments, but not necessarily every appointment.

Army OB clinic won't even see me until I'm eight weeks, and definitely won't take an US for awhile, unless there's something wrong. So, I'm with all the waiting ladies.

@vinerie I always try to schedule appointments when DH and I are both free. He went to almost all of my appointments with me with DD. I think it helped him to understand everything that was going on when he heard it from the Dr.

I have to wait till next tues for my sonogram as my progesterone levels are dropping but my hcg is quadrupleing. By my lmp I should be a little over 6 weeks right now but due to weird cycles since still nursing not sure of when i ovulated! So exciting yet nerve racking to wait this long! Love seeing all you ladies sonograms congrats again:)

I had the ultrasound today but there's only a gestational sac. They are checking my hcg levels so I'm hoping for the best. Good luck to all of you.

I went to the dr today for excessive vomiting. I don't have my first prenatal appt until the 28th. But I had a surprise ultrasound and I'm measuring 6w5d. I thought I was over 7 but I heard and saw the heartbeat! I started crying. Can't attach the u/s pic from my phone. But we go back on the 28th for the actual appt where we'll get another u/s . They'll measure and date me then!

Had my first U/S yesterday. Saw a heartbeat and measured exactly where I thought I was.
I'm glad things are on track and I'm trying to stay positive that they will continue to do so. Part of me doesn't want to get my hopes up too much just to have the heartache of another loss.
I have my milestone U/S in two weeks.

Had my first U/S today.  Heard the heartbeat (which was completely surreal) and saw my little blip.  Due date is the same, May 1st.   >-

I'm also going to an army OB clinic, but they told me to expect a dating U/S for my first appt., which is during the 8 week mark if my math is right. If you're active duty I don't know how they handle it, but if you're a dependent you should ask. I know it was a chore just getting fit into the schedule at the OB clinic, but I hope you get in and get to see your little bean soon!

I'm super jealous of all the awesome U/S pics! @khgahol I've got my FX for you!

I also noticed everyone has a different name for the baby right now - I've seen a lot, including gummy bear, tadpole, peanut, buttercup, blip, nugget and heard a couple others. I use bean. Lol. It's interesting to see how everyone else sees it!

In Ireland we don't get Ultrasound scans until we are atleast 12 weeks, currently at 6 weeks and 3 days so Im patiently waiting!!
