@mclorn - thanks for stopping by. I've been lurking on the Sept/Oct thread and I'm so very happy for your BFP.
@rachd110, I highly recommend the Vitamix. My hubby bought it and surprised me with it. It is SO worth the money. I do smoothies now, but I add protein powder, almond butter, coconut oil at times. I was wondering if you just do veggies and fruit. Interesting on the smoothing vs juicing. I'm guessing my smoothies are maybe 60/40 veggies to fruit, but when I started, I had to do TONS of fruit to mask the veggie taste!
@twomommiestobe - I'm starting stims at the very end of November, so I'll probably be joining another month thread too. I learned so much from lurking on the Sept/Oct thread though, I thought I'd intro and participate here in the mean time.

Hey ladies... just lurking from the September/October board. Wanted to say HI and offer my support! Here's hoping you all have successful stimulation, great ER numbers and BFP's!!! I'll pop in from time to time... I already had my ER but my transfer got pushed back to November due to fibroids!
Lots of LOVE ladies!!!

I think it is twins!!! Nurses haven't said anything one way or another, just that everything looks good. I guess I will find out at my ultrasound, hopefully by the end of next week! I know they want your #s to double every 48-72 hours and I have tripled, so regardless it should be a strong pregnancy! All along I have known that a singleton is safe and best, but now that we put 2 in, it would be so sad to lose one... it would make the ultrasound better-sweet, you know?
Been lerking this bored. I looking at retrieval this Friday !! I'm so so so nervous my clinic does Mac monitoring anesthesia care but I am having major anxiety about this procedure. Can anyway whose had it advise please !! Did you get sick from the anesthesia?? Do you remember anything ?? Help!!!
@erinscaren I'm feeling pretty good . The other day I kinda felt like my insides were a bit bruised. The dr said that's probably because I had just done my injections on that side and I aperently have double the follicles on that side. But it's fine today. Ready for my first ultrasound tomorrow morning to see how things are coming along
Hello ladies! I was in the sept/oct group but my transfer got pushed to nov because the genetic testing is taking a few weeks. I am about to start the patches. I think the waiting is the worst part! I had to quit my job because my boss didn't want to work with my time off. Anyone else having a hard time keeping their minds busy?? Also after egg retrieval I'm having a hard time getting the weight off, I might try some juicing!
If you all have not seen the picture of the IVF baby from Sher Fertility clinic, take a look because it is beautiful! Google Sher Fertility baby photo!
@erinscaren I saw the photo yesterday. It is beautiful!
@ashleywillemsen so sorry you had to quit your job. Some people just don't get it. I'm lucky enough to have a boss that also has an infertility diagnosis.
@ShayLatrice sorry about the fibroids. It really sucks that we have no control over our body. Hopefully, the time will go by fast for you.
@emsmama15 I'm going to try adding coconut oil to my smoothies. I also want to try flax or chia seeds. Need to look into which is better for you.
@Rachd110 - I was just reading about flax and chia seeds. I think I may add some chia just because I've heard it can help with glucose control. With PCOS, every little bit helps! I love the coconut oil because it gives the smoothie a really light coconut flavor - masks some of the "green" taste.

@ashlee314@comcast.net Remember that your anxiety is making it seem 100x worse than what it will be. I HATE NEEDLES SO I WAS WORRIED TOO, BUT I KEPT MYSELF DISTRACTED WHEN THEY SET UP MY IV AND THEN DIDN'T LOOK AT MY HAND ONCE IN THE PROCEDURE ROOM I JUST CLOSED MY EYES, LISTENED TO WHAT THEY SAID, AND ONCE THEY PUT ON THE OXYGEN AND YOU BREATH A COUPLE DEEP BREATHS AND THEY PUSH THE anesthetic IN YOUR IV YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW OR FEEL ANYTHING! JUST THINK POSITIVE THOUGHTS (CALMING BEACH WAVES, BABBLING BROOK WHILE YOU DRIFT INTO LA-LA LAND) AND GO TO SLEEP. WHEN YOU WAKE UP, AT LEAST FOR ME, I HAD NO SICKNESS FROM THE MEDS AND ONLY MILD CRAMPING WHICH THE NURSES HELPED BY LOADING UP THE HEATING PAD FOR ME. IT ENDED UP BEING SO MUCH EASIER THAN I THOUGHT! All in all...think about the end game! I hope this helps
@EWBauer29 Do you know why you are doing the "long protocol?" I am starting with Lupron first, too, which seems weird to give BC hormones and then Lupron to stop hormone production? Seems counterintuitive to me, but this is all new!
Hi Ladies! I was hoping that I wouldn't need to be joining this board, but I am! I know you all are wonderful group of ladies as I lurked in your Sept/Oct thread. My IUI was cancelled today as it wouldn't have been successful since my right tube is being blocked by a polyp and all my follicles seem to only want to really grow on the right side.
I'll mostly be lurking still the next few weeks as I have to wait for this cycle to finish. My period should start around November 1st. I got the whole big packet of information about the process and financing (I'll be OOP) today. I'm excited to have a plan and am hoping it is what works for us.
Right now the biggest thing I need to figure out is the difference between PGD and PGS and if PGD is something that we should do... It's an extra cost but I'm not sure if it takes extra time, causes extra stress, or extra anything else.
Started my third shot today . Since my MIL has been doing them for me I'm so glad she was home when called. They said I had to do it within 15 mins (yikes) I have never driven so fast in my life lol . I made it within the time asked of me . I just hope everything is still good . Next dr appt is Friday
@piperella Sorry to hear that, but at least you now have a definite plan to lead you toward your baby! We are doing this OOP, too, it is such a huge financial undertaking, but just think of it as a jumpstart on how much you will spend on your precious little love throughout life! PGD tests for a specific genetic condition in the embryo (like cystic fibrosis) while PGS screens for chromosomal abnormalities (like down syndrome). I did a genetic screening panel, it was a simple blood draw. All of mine came back negative, but had I shown any concerning positives, my RE would have tested DH, and if we both had the same positives, then it would have been on to PGD. Hope that helps and welcome to the group!
Yes erinscaren I had my baseline labs and U/S yesterday and start stims Saturday! I'm actually really excited! E2 and progesterone were normal and endo lining was 4 mm, seems thin to me but who knows. Now I've stopped my BC pills and Saturday I start Gonal-F 100 mcg twice a day and dexamethasone (just a tablet) once a day. Then I go in next Weds and then every other day after that for more blood and U/S. That link for the PGS/PGD video was really helpful! Good luck to all those in this process and hope the time flies for those in their tww!
@villacis811 I started acupuncture January 2015 and did it once per week until I got frustrated at the lack of benefit and took a break for August. I still did it a week before, day of, and week after my September FET but I just never really liked it. I was always cold, uncomfortable, and I felt like I was wasting time and money! I just love the doctor so much that it was almost like a therapy session, which is why I still stuck with it! I think I am in the minority as a lot of people love it and it is really relaxing. There is research showing the benefits of acupuncture with IVF, but you really need to do it weekly....
Thanks for the info on pgd and pgs. Right now the only qualification I think I have for those options is my age. I am going to go through a blood work panel on myself first to see if we would even need to venture further in that direction.
@villacis811, I scheduled my very first acupuncture appointment for next Friday. I am also going to schedule appointments for before my transfer and the day of and possibly during my TWW. I have trouble sleeping, so I'm hoping these sessions will not only help with a successful IVF cycle, but to relax as well.
Anyone else tired of all this waiting? I don't start stims until 10/25. I'm get pretty anxious to get this going already. I think the BCP they put me on is getting me really emotional. I've cried almost every day since being on them.
My husband is trying to plan our trip during Thanksgiving weekend and I'm so focused on my IVF cycle right now that I don't even care what we do on the trip. I'll have my beta either the day we leave or 2 days prior.
@Rachd110 Yes, I am with you! I am so tired of waiting. I start Lupron the 21st, but then have wait til the 29th to start Gonal-F. I am getting tired of waiting, too. And I hate this bc I'm on, I have had bleeding now for 15 straight days. Waiting for a call back from the nurse to be reassured it's still normal. We will get there though. Just a little longer.
That's strange, it cut off the rest of my message! The acupuncture weirds me out but some people swear by it, so it's probably worth looking into. @Rachd110 yes the BC pills made me really emotional and hungry, and my boobs got huge and were sore! I know the wait is awful but just think, it's already halfway through October and it seems like October just started!!
Me: 38, DH: 38. Trying since February, 2013, no luck. HX of one MC at the age of 30, with different partner. Diagnosis: Unexplained Infertility.
OB/GYN tried me on un-monitored Clomid from March 2014-August 2014 (6 Trials). No BFP. First RE: 1 IUI Trial with injectables December 2014, 1 injectable only Jan 2015, IUI Feb, IUI Mar 2015. No BFP. Between April and October, struggled HARD to work on DH to agree to IVF.
But HE AGREED on the condition we go to a new RE. I liked my old one, but whatever gets us to baby!! I'm in the Oct Nov IVF club too - Finished BCPs on Monday, taking baby aspirin and CoQ10 in evenings. I begin Lupron tomorrow, which means retrieval in 10-14 days. This is my first go round with IVF.
My new RE Clinic is great. They offer free yoga, and laser acupuncture, which I am signing up for.
I spy on the board a lot, but this is so emotionally draining and stressful that I feel the need for camaraderie and support and to get involved! I'm so NERVOUS!!!! I don't have the acronyms down yet, but I will! Good luck to everyone!!!
@villacis811 i did accupuncture cor my first cycle and the fet! I had a bfn! So obviouy it did t help! I prefered doi g it to destress and that helped a little. I guess you should try it and see if it helps you to relax! You should do whatever makes you feel less stressed!
Is anyone else having issues with the app?I can't reload the boards, and i dont get alerted when some mentions me. Just caught up on things.Welcome, to all the new ladies. I hope everyone is feeling great.
@erinscaren I'm a mess. I cry over everything and I'm always hot. Last night's injections were really tough. I had to have my husband do them for the first time. I also feel like a cow. I've gain 4.5lbs. However, at least I have 7 follies growing. So dispite all the bad, everything seems to be working. My ER is tenitively scheduled for the 22nd.
@smitty18 welcome to the group. I've found this community to be very supportive. We are all going through similar situations and understand the infertility struggle. I've also been diagnosed with unexplained. I've never seen a BFP. This process is very frustrating, but the end result makes it all worth it. Good luck on your ER!
@twomommiestobe I hear you. I'm very grateful that my insurance covers almost everything, but my copay for meds are ridiculous. It doesnt have to be anything crazy to pass time. I took up knitting because it keeps me off of Google. Lol
Hi ladies! Just joining! had my second IVF transfer this morning. Anyone else in their 9 day wait? Any experiences with frozen transfer? Look forward to hearing!
Thank you for the advice on the acupuncture. I think even if it just helps with the stress and anxiety throughout this whole process it would be a big win. I think I will give it a shot.
@rach110 , @erinscaren I stopped BCP this Tuesday and I am still bleeding!! I am supposed to start Gonal F and Menopur tom evening. I'm not sure if I am supposed to still be bleeding its a lil heavier than it was while taking BCP but its not as heavy as a period. I think I will call my RE tom to make sure its normal. I feel like Ive had my period for over a month and it really stinks. The worst part like you guys said is that my emotions are all over the place. I try to remain positive but sometimes very trivial things upset me. I find myself crying over commercials. I hope these medications don''t make me even more sensitive.
@becks0143 welcome! Hopefully soon you will get your good news!
@villacis811 I had my period when I started stimming, an my follis are seemingly ok. My nurse said some women have a period when they start some don't. It is usually expected because you are just coming off the bcp, which causes a withdrawal bleed.
@villacis811 I also was bleeding when starting stims. Nurse told me that was totally fine, that as my hormone level was rising, I would stop and did. Surprisingly the stims gave me no emotional or moody side effects . Just extreme bloat to the point where all I could wear was elastic waist jeggings/ good luck!!!!

@claire1884 are you set to start stims soon ?
@BriiFigueroa are you still feeling ok?
I've heard, from women on this board, that it's best to go with chromosome testing if you're older than 35.
That link for the PGS/PGD video was really helpful!
Good luck to all those in this process and hope the time flies for those in their tww!
