Randoms!

Re: Randoms!

  • @virginiaunicorn11 So sorry to hear that news. Losing a parent is hard, losing two at once, can't imagine

I am so behind on this board. All I have time to read is randoms and I'm not even keeping up here. I miss being a part of June15. When I do get here I feel really jealous because I am away from LO so much now with work and it seems like others are never seperated. Trying to make the time I do have with him count and rearranging priorities so it can be more time soon, I hope.

@Sammy K sorry to leave you hanging. Just checking back in. I did cut all dairy including trace for a few weeks. I've been cheating a little now, having a little chocolate with milk in it or a snickers bar every once in a while. And next week I am going to add in some tiny servings of cheese or milk every few days to try to reintroduce the casein to him. Its not an allergy (my niece had that) just a sensitivity because he's ok when I cheat with trace dairy. So yes I cut all the trace dairy but i think if I had just cut out cheese, milk, yogurt etc it would have worked. I was eating a lot of cereal and cheese.

My best advice is focus on what you CAN eat. Make a list to choose from and don't think about what you are missing. Corn chips and avocado, rice bowls with egg or meat and veggies, oatmeal cookies made without butter, fruit, and pb&j are my go to options. If it works it will be easy to stay in the diet because you'll know that LO will revert to angry if you don't.

I really hate having to pump when I could be napping. I'm a slave to this damn machine.
  • I cannot find a good nursing bra to save my life. Maybe it's because I'm busty or still trying to hold on to some aspect of having cute underwear... I dont know. Trying to get dressed to leave the house is a nightmare because of it.
    So frustrated.
  • 2 month appt yesterday. LO is 97th percentile for height! No wonder I can't get him to fit on my lap well. Just avg for weight though
  • So DH has poison ivy from clearing out a section by our propane tanks. Now I have a few spots under my boobs and on my stomach that itchy like crazy. I know it's not contagious from person to person, but I'm still nervous when I bf. I'm hoping it's not really poison ivy on me, and I'm just hallucinating the itch. Like when someone says their kid has lice and instantly your head itches.

someone before mentioned a store turning regular bras into nursing bras. i cant recall what the store was though.
  • Ok, my parents are here for the weekend and my aunt is coming tomorrow. We have to get out of the house. What are some activities that are
    -indoor
    -fun for little kids
-not completely terrible for 50 year olds

    I got nothing.
  • At the airport waiting to board. Guess what I forgot? All the milk I pumped for the trip in the fridge! I have my boobs and formula just in case, but I still feel like such. A. Failure. Boo. : (
  • @ChardeeMacDennis bowling. And it's not likely indoors, but something like batting cages and mini golf would be fun.

  • Ooh, bowling's an idea. It's my oldest birthday too so even if it's not the most fun for our visitors I could suggest it as a treat for him. At least they can sit and drink if they want.

It's supposed to be high 90s all weekend so I'm trying not to make everyone go outside. The county fair is this weekend and if it weren't for our guests we'd be there.
  • Also: breastfeeding is great for introverts with house guests. I'm hiding in the baby's room and my husband is down there entertaining his in laws.

I totally just did this the other day when my hubs had people over. I hid for an hour in the bedroom with LO nursing. It was cool and quiet in there, and away from a living room full of rowdy men (boys) playing rock band and drinking beer

  • @mcknzzee I'm sure you spent a lot of time preparing everything for your trip and I know I would probably be crying about that pumped milk. But it sounds like your boobs and formula should get you through the trip just fine. You're certainly not a failure! Sometimes life happens..

Yes yes yes! My husband's grandparents are coming to visit. They're staying with my FIL but they're spendings all day at our place. I'm excited to meet them finally, but also excited I can use breastfeeding as an excuse for when I need a break.

  • Any good recommendations on swings? My lil guy decides he hates the rock n play now and doesn't like his vibrating bouncy chair either. He just wants me all the time! A swing is my last hope to get anything done around the house... Or eat more than a cliff bar when my fiancé is working.
  • What's up with the percentile thing?? Dr. gave me mine... The thing is that his weight percentile doesn't match the CDC, WHO or preterm info on my ap. I know it really doesn't matter but a difference of 3% to 50% seems big

We have the Fisher Price my little lamb cradle and swing. Our LO loves it so I do too as a result lol.
  • @dancegurl1118 oh my gosh! Is this going to effect your pumping/freezer stash? I would be so mad!
  • Remember that time we moved into our new house and the power was shut off and they won't have someone come until Monday to turn it on? Kill me. Oh and they said "between 8-4". Thanks asshats.

What?! That's bs! Wtf is their problem? Also, PP is right - will this affect your milk stash? Oh no...

I bought a Graco swing on Craigslist for $30! It's been great!

@dancegurl1118 how annoying! Just like the pp I'm thinking about your freezer stash. I'd be freaking out. Our fridge broke down a month ago and all I could think about was my milk. Luckily DH was able to store it for me at his workplace since it was close by.

That one has really great reviews! Ordering it now! Thank you for the advice!

What about a baby wrap? Have you tried that yet?
  • @jesshrou I just have a baby bjorn which I'm not in love with
  • Ah oh my god no if this was effecting my stash I wouldn't have time to post because I'd be in jail after having a violent outburst at the power company. We're trying to use this weekend to paint the whole house but it's a little hard without power...and working toilets because we're on a well. We still have our apartment to sleep in (and all my milk). Thank you guys for reminding me it could be worse.

Our LO loves the jungle safari swing. The mobile keeps her occupied forever.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • @dancegurl1118 oh good! I had a panic attack for you when I read your post.

Is yours fisher price too? I'm waiting for my fiancé to get home so we can scope out the swings at target.
  • @rrcameron21 yes! It's called "Safari dreams". It was super pricy $165 but it was the best purchase we have made...she really only sleeps there during the day. We returned the mamaroo for it!

  • I have maybe a weird question related to the swing recommendations.

We do not currently have a swing but I'm considering getting one as sort of another "station" to have around the house and also as a tool to hopefully help keep LO content and entertained when DH and I are both rushing around getting ready for work in the mornings once I start again. My question is does anyone know in general up to what age/size most swings can be used?

I already feel like she'll be pushing the limits of a Rock n Play in the coming months and I'm wondering if a swing would be the same or if it'd be worth buying one because it'll be used long into the future (relatively speaking...I know I won't send it to college with her :)) )
  • I second the Fisher Price Lil Lamb swing, it's awesome! LO has been really fussy this morning but he's asleep in the swing right now. I think you can use them up to 6 months or until the kid tries to climb out.

I was just thinking to myself last night that they should make adult sized swings - they look so relaxing!
  • @mvargas12 I love that tone/color! You look amazing!!!

Oh awesome! I hope your LO (and you!) enjoy as much as we do. Keep me posted
