Just trying to get a word in before the hundreds of posts! Hope all is well with y'all.
Today is my last weekday with my baby before going back to work. It's been incredibly emotional for me. I'm change averse and finally got in the groove of being home with DS and now...change!
My recent stress has been that I have been on a waiting list for a wonderful day care closer to my house for a year and they called saying they have a spot for me yesterday. This should be great news, but I had finally come to terms with the day care closer to my work and spent a lot of time there getting to know the teachers and feeling comfortable. I know it's better to choose the day care closer to my house so my DH can help with drop off/pick up but it's been really difficult to make this change just days before returning to work.
Hope everyone out there is doing well. Kiss those babies!
Morning lady's! Today is my birthday and I was blessed with a 2 am wake up (but unicorn dh went and gave dd her paci and put her arm back in her swaddle), a sinus infection, and my dog is creepy staring and barking into our empty hallway.
I never added the weaky pizza because I missed that story. I think it's a nice pizza though. Just don't let @Kaylajade8911 near it or the pizza will be fed to a baby.
Today we have to drive to lake havasu. Az to visit my dad for the weekend. It's like a 4 hour drive and I'm worried about the baby since she hates her car seat. It's also long stretch of highway without exits and only 1 lane each way. I'm worried about needing to feed her. Any tips for those of you who went on road trips? I know @windwithfingers has survived a couple. It's the hot air balloon festival though, so I'm hoping shell enjoy the colors a little.
We took a 5.5 hour road trip over the holidays with DD. DD has been fighting the car seat lately, too, so I sat in the back with her with some toys and was able to keep giving her the paci. She actually fell asleep for most of the car ride there and back.
As far as feeding her, since she slept so much it wasn't a big deal, but I did bring my pump and pumped a couple of times in the car since she wasn't waking up hungry.
I would just check out a road map and make sure you can find places to safely pull off the road to feed your baby or change the diaper. If there is a long stretch that has no place to stop (not even a side road to pull off on) then maybe plan to stop right before that stretch and check your LOs diaper and feed them. Just give yourself extra time, because when we travelled with dd it would take her 10-15 minutes to really wake up and want to eat.
Overall, it took us about 2-3 stops and an extra hour to travel with DD.
We are putting an offer in on a house today. It's our first. I'm both excited and nervous! Cross your fingers that we get it. It is absolutely perfect and under our budget.

Definitely give yourself extra time. My mom and I did a 12.5 hr drive with dd and it took 15 hours. I sat in the back with her. When we stopped I'd feed her and then pass her to the front seat and my mom would change her diaper while I put myself back together. Each stop took about 30 minutes. Good luck.
I had a dream that DH said it was a mistake to marry me, and when I woke, DH was gone. I thought it was legit and called his cell, and turns out he just went to work early. I needed a hug and he wasn't there to hug me, so I snuggled the baby.
DH is coming home from his 2 day business trip tonight and I am making fajitas and salted caramel apple pie bars. Considering starting the bars now so I can eat one for a late breakfast. They need to be tested before he gets home, right?

I refuse to let it dampen my spirits.
My first night alone with DS while working was overall a success.
I left work 10 minutes early and still didn't get to daycare until 6:10. The night teacher didn't recognize me because DH had done all pick ups but one. When I got there, she said she didn't know me as mom and demanded I leave the room. I started crying. She confirmed with the director that I was in fact his mom. I got to pick him up.
Got home, let the dogs out and fed them. DS cried. I gave him a bath and put on his pjs. He proceeded to keep lifting his shirt and laughing at me. Dang kid loves being naked. One dog puked. Other dog came in from the backyard with a cut on his nose that is bleeding. He tried to lick DS's face. I got both dogs cleaned up and got DS to quit trying to be a male stripper.
Finally sat down at 8:30 to eat dinner. DS went to bed at 9 and then up every hour with a daycare cold. Up for the day today at 3:45am.
Can I just say that I feel like a badass?! I survived and didn't bitch and I look damn good at work today, too.
Soooo I got trashed and had pre-marriage type sex last night, lingerie and all. It's the first time I've really enjoyed sex since before I got pregnant. It was a great night and I feel so close with my h again right now. Im happy

@alfibet DS hates his carseat too. He also hates the paci, so I always am anxious before a road trip. However, he's done a 10-hour and a 6-hour and all has been well. Basically I try to leave when I know he'll be tired (morning, after he's been awake a few hours). I'll feed him, load him into the seat, and go. He always fusses a little before he falls asleep, but he'll usually take a paci after awhile. Then I just sort of stroke his head and hold the paci in his mouth while saying "shhhhhh" and he falls asleep. As long as the car is moving, he'll stay asleep for 3-4 hours. When we went to Arkansas, there was a stretch of winding, one-lane roads that we couldn't pull over on and he was screaming, so I used a bottle while we were driving. I know that's like a motherhood cardinal sin, but it couldn't be avoided and it was truly a last resort. That was in early November and it was the only time I ever had to do that.

We just got back from a vacation to Disney World. LO was a rock star on the airplane, both ways. He was not a big fan of any of the parks. If my parents and brother hadn't gone along too, it would have been a miserable trip.
On my way to pedi office with two sick LO in tow. Drew had a fever of 101.2 at 5am. Fx it's nothing major! Catch up with you all later!
I feel like all of my parent friends have sick babies right now That time of year I guess. Hope he's feeling better soon!
Side note: I called the nurse line to see if there was anything more I could do for LO's cold. We chit chatted about sick babes for a bit and she told me that, on average, kids get 6 colds a year. That seems crazy to me! Every other month?!
@Sweetadeline31 - Glad your first day back wasn't too bad! I felt the same way and I know others did as well - it felt nice to have a little bit of a break. I am not going to lie it is nice to work in quiet and pump/pee when you need to without having to worry about a fussy/crying baby to attend too. It really does make coming home that much sweeter at the end of the day as well!
I was almost 30 minutes late for work today but whatever - just got a late start today. Thankfully no one relies on me to be here at exactly 8. I am never usually late, but still appreciate the flexibility I have at work. Our nanny is coming to our house for the first time tomorrow to meet H for the first time and for us to show her around. She starts the first week in Feb. and I am very much considering hiring a cleaning person to do a good once through before she starts. She is also going to be helping out with household cleaning (light cleaning) so that is going to help a ton, I am very excited for this.
Re: Friday Randos
Oh and yay to a 3 day weekend (I seem to usually get stuck working them).
I refuse to let it dampen my spirits.
