So I'm in real labor this time

Over the past 24 hours I've been having progressively more painful contractions, that felt totally different from BH. I had to call the on call doctor 3 times today before they gave me the thumbs up to come in to get checked. They told me it wasn't real labor and to just drink water and take a nap. X(

I'm 100% effaced, 3-4cm dilated, contracting every 3-4 minutes. They wanted to give me terbutaline, but my heart rate and blood pressure are too high to tolerate it. So they're going to put me on magnesium for the next 24 hours to see if we can stop this. I'm 35.3 and we'd all prefer that she stay in until at least 37 weeks, but we'll just have to see.

Good luck. I've heard they don't really stop labor after 35 weeks though. Or so I've been told.

That's what the on call nurse told me too, but the doctor said he felt "obligated" to try to reduce the chance she'd have respiratory distress. I dont care for this guys bedside manner very much.

35 weeks is still pretty great though! You've had such a rough ride with this whole pregnancy, I hope whatever the outcome is that it's easy for you, and baby is okay! Keep us posted!

@naturelovers You're having a c-section, right? At what point will they decide if the labor is slowing down and prep you for surgery? 3-4 cm dilated and 100% effaced sounds pretty progressed to me.

I wonder the same thing. I tried to ask the doc but he brushed me off, said "one thing at a time". I'm not real fond of the guy, cant wait for the new on call person.

Aw hell no. I would not have appreciated that answer. Even if he can't say for sure, he could have said it in a way that wasn't so dismissive.

Hopefully you'll have a new doctor on call soon.

When they start asking the last time you ate....that's when they're getting serious about prepping for the csection. At least that's how it came down to me having DS2 after my 38-wk checkup & ultrasound showed reaaaallllyy how fluids.
