I'd like to get snarky with the doctor, but I'm distracted by the back labor, headache, and nausea. The mag has me feeling like I was dropped into a hot bath, with the flu. But it's gotten a little better since the initial 4mg bolus has been toned down to 2mg.
I just lost my mucous plug and am having a bit of bloody show, and the contrax have yet to slow down. Ideally she will stay in for a little while longer, but I know if she has to come out she's far enough along that she'll be okay. However, the current doctor is the one that wanted to pressure me into a vag delivery, because he feels the risks to me are more important than the risks to the baby, so I can't wait for him to go off call so I can get one of the doctors that respects my wishes.
Wow that sucks so much and doesn't sound like things are slowing down. Can you advocate for yourself (or have your husband advocate for you) or get a second opinion. I'd at least like to have a clear plan laid out (at what pout they'll stop mag and prep for surgery) and feel like you're entitled to that much! Sorry your Dr is a dick!

I really think once the new doc comes on it'll be better. Unless it's the female doctor I don't like, but the universe can't be that mean, right?

Ahhh! From all the PP I say we punch this doctors lights out through the internet!!! I'm sorry that this pregnancy totally went the negative route but FXed, good vibes and prayers! Hopefully she can at least stay put until a legit doctor comes and respects what YOU want since HELLO you're the one going through all this! It's easy to say sleep it off when nothing's happening to you. Ugh. But anyways! I hope everything works our whether she comes today, tomorrow or in 4 weeks
Good luck and I am thinking of you!! The magnesium drained the life out of me but it does seem to help a little! I hope that they can slow things down and give your LO some more time on the inside! I know you'll both be fine! T&Ps coming your way!
T&P to you and baby! I'm sorry your having such a time dealing with your dr! I'm not sure if this has been asked but could you share some of these concerns with your nurse? Its also your nurses job to advocate for you and make sure your concerns/fears/questions are answered. :-)
Actually my nurse just came in and said that I'm on clear liquids only (I asked for a snack) in case things progress and I need to have my c-section, so it appears everyone else is on board even if that doctor isn't.

I'm just hanging out on the monitors for now. I got a dose of morphine which has helped take the edge off the pain and back labor. My contractions have spaced out from every 3-4 minutes to about every 6-8 minutes, so that's progress I guess. I don't know when they're going to check my cervix again. The other concern is my BP, which is staying a bit high, so they're checking it every 30 minutes, and they're having me lay on my left side. The baby looks great, her heart rate has stayed in the 150-160bpm range. Thanks for asking.

My hospital won't stop labor this far into the pregnancy so maybe they are using the Mag just until you are clear of food for 12 hours? Hopefully you get more information at 7AM. Hang in there! The good news is that even though it is early 35 plus 4 is not terrible although I know you want every day inside for your little one. Thoughts and prayers to you and your little one.

The highest my BP has been in 151/108, and the lowest is 135/99. I have actually been cleared of food for 12 hours since 10pm, so I don't think that's it. I think it's the agenda of this particular doctor.

LOL @ tough bitch. The mag isn't too bad once they lowered the dose. I just feel hot and have a headache. I can't sleep between the pain, blood pressure cuff, baby's monitor whooshing away, etc.
So it appears the mag has been effective in halting the contractions. But I take back what I said about it not being that bad. It's given me a pounding headache and body aches. But it's worth it since it's stopped the contrax. I'm assuming they're going to keep me on it for 24 hours, but I won't know for sure until the doctor does rounds.
Good luck! My mom was one of the early labor stories with me as well, they stopped it multiple times beginning around 5 or 6 months and I ended up only 3wks early. Hope LO holds off a bit longer for you!
So, interesting update. I was just seen by my favorite doctor in the practice. I scheduled my c-section to make sure she would be the one to do the delivery. I genuinely trust her and her advice.
One, she apologized for the jerk male doctor, and said that I should never have been put on magnesium to begin with. At 35+ weeks I should have been let go to labor. So she's stopping the magnesium now, and wants to see if labor starts back up.
Two, she doesn't recommend a c-section. She asked me why I wanted one. I explained that at my very first prenatal appt I had been told that the location of my fibroids puts me at a higher risk for an abruption during labor. She told me that that was not really true, that the "higher risk" was like a tenth of a point...very very small increased risk, and that the doctor who told me that was reaching. She said the risks of the c-section were much higher, especially when compared to my prior history of a TIA/complicated migraines and family history of blood clot issues, she is not comfortable recommending an elective surgery. The chance of an abruption are very small but if it happened, the overall prognosis is good, compared to the potential prognosis of having a blood clot or stroke due to surgery. She told me to really think hard about this, but if I was her sister she would tell me not to have the surgery. She also stressed that the baby has looked perfect on the monitors and clearly has tolerated labor like a champ.
So now I'm thrown for a loop. I really do believe her and trust her judgment.....but it's a complete 180 from where my mind and plans have been for the birth so far.
