I did it! I finally caught up!! Thank you, ds, for falling asleep on the way to Target so I could read in the parking lot. Apparently nap time today is 8:45. Should make for an interesting rest of the day, but who cares.
@steamboat123 I know you posted this like 2 days (see I was way behind) but I first saw trunk or treat when I worked in a really real area. The houses were too spread out for standard trick or treating, so everyone would meet at the school on Halloween evening and the kids would go car to car. It seemed like a really good solution to me.
Happy Birthday @ColieAnn31! Is it super awesome to have a Halloween birthday? It seems like it would be seriously awesome.
I'm bummed that LO's school is in the anti-Halloween camp. I guess enough parents don't like it? I don't get it. It's a Montessori school, but I can't imagine what that has to do with it.
Last year (at a different place) I got to dress LO up in his cute little candy corn costume and show him off at daycare (and they did a little parade), this year, nada. I still made him a costume though - I'll be toting him around the neighborhood to a couple houses to show him off. My cute little hobbit *will* be appreciated today dammit!
A lot of cultures are really against Halloween. Many of the schools I have worked at don't allow anything to do with the holiday because it is against students' religious or cultural beliefs. This might be why so many day cares aren't doing Halloween or are doing something else (like pj day) instead. My schools have typically done something like crazy hat day on Halloween so that there's something fun, but not exactly connected to the holiday.
@musicalsilver it has its pros and cons for sure. When I was younger it was hard to plan a party for the day of Halloween but now that I'm older it's a lot easier to plan things since we aren't trick or treating anymore. Well I guess now we are but we have babies so it's different lol Grayson and I are going trick or treating with my friend, cousin, and their LO's. I'm hoping Alex makes it off early enough to join us. Then we are going out!
Without fail every year when I turn the heater on for the first time I run around like a crazy woman for a few minutes trying to figure out what is on fire in my house. Only to remember, after nearly having a panic attack that I can't find the source, that it's the stupid heater!
So my mom and stepdad are supposed to take M for a sleepover tonight after ToTing. She had a pretty rough night last night (a bit of a runny nose, but mostly teething related I think). WWJD? Keep her home? Tell grandma about last night and let her make the call? Keep your mouth shut since she usually sleeps well and send her anyways? We've had a tough week and I'm feeling pretty run down and just need a break. It might be clouding my judgement...
@DoodleTwins I know that's the right thing to do, I was just so tempted to just drop her off. I called my mom and work and am just waiting for her to call me back. Hopefully she says it's fine.
Aw, @subliminalrabbit I'm sorry you're having another rough day. Wanna share my mom? She's taking my clingy grumps tonight and I'm sure she'd take another . We can binge on Halloween candy and you can drink wine
She said she would!! I hate feeling relieved for getting a night away from my kid, but I've had a tough couple weeks with her and my patience is really wearing thin. I'm no being a great mom the last few days and I really need to recoup.
That's so sweet of you to say @mcbush! I am really starting to realize after over a year of SAH that I need to start to take a break for myself once in a while. Even though my mom is nearby, her job is pretty demanding, so she isn't available all that much to help me out. I had a long talk with DH last night. Since he is going to have steadier, more predictable hours now he is going to make a point to take DD out of the house one morning or afternoon on the weekends so that I can catch up on housework or just relax. He didn't really get that what I was needing was a little time away from everyone, not just for him to be around to help when he was off work. I'm so happy that we've now got this sorted out.
I know exactly what you mean, @subliminalrabbit . I'm doing the exact same thing as we speak. But she was up for hours last night and I know she needs a nap now. Going in there just has her begging to get out.
In other news, Kathie Lee and Hoda are dressed up and doing the show as Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World. I can't decide if it's actually funny, or just really ridiculous.

I would give you big boogie squishing hugs right now @subliminalrabbit but my bump now interferes with that. So I'm sending you big squish my bump hugs your way!!
@subliminalrabbit can your H take over for you for a little bit? Even if E doesn't nap, maybe he can just entertain him for a while so you can recoup? I know exactly where you're coming from and I am feeling like I am at my breaking point today, so from the girl who was prepared to drop her kid off at grandmas without so much as a warning as far as teething and bad sleep goes, see if you can get a bit of time to yourself before you drive yourself mad. Big hugs mama!!

I would send her anyway. Just tell grandma about the runny nose and what helps. They will be fine. Enjoy your break!
One of the places I'm interviewing with sent me a confirmation e-mail and it said that they are a "nut and perfume free facility". This is not a school, its a manufacturing plant. Why do they need to be nut free? I'm even side-eyeing the perfume free a little since some of the inks and varnishes I've worked around are pretty smelly, but its more understandable.
Website says they do some packaging work, does that mean they won't take reeses as a client?
@momofcatan - I don't know anything about that sort of thing, but I think you'd be right to assume nut-free due to the packaging work. Perfume free could be any number of reasons. I worked in an office just before DD was born and one of the older ladies complained about the Scentsy we kept turn on near the backdoor (where said lady and a few others would smoke just outside of). We were trying to counteract the disgusting smoke smell that would waft in, especially in the winter when they wouldn't venture far from the door. But she took her complaint to Head Office and they reacted by instating a no scent/perfume policy. Depending on the situation for the perfume free environment, it may not be very strictly enforced.
Grayson just left with my mom to go to my grandma's house. I made the mistake of laying down. I need to shower and start getting ready for tonight. But my bed feels soooo good...
@calikat80 Is onto something y'all. After a pitiful showing for Halloween (only 8 kids so far and it's 6:45) I sent DH out with DD to walk up the sidewalk. I got to finish my beer alone and have much needed me time.
The passing out end is the bomb! It's freezing tonight, I definitely got the easy job!
We went for a walk with A to look at the decorations. I was bummed we didn't see any kids dressed up while we were out. We've had maybe 15 kids so far - that's like a third of what we normally get. Makes me sad.
None of our neighbors were inside. Everyone was in their driveway, some gave the parents pizza and some gave the parents booze. The candy "alternatives" were golden Oreos and pretzels. Now who wants to move next door???

I'm on my way. I presume when I cross into Florida there will be signs guiding me to this magical place.

We rode in a hay trailer pulled by a lawn mower, and also had people sitting in the driveway passing out candy. (but not all houses, mosquitoes y'all) DD caught on faster than I thought. Can't wait to eat the butterfingers!
My Vent: My SH is being such a jerk. First he insists that he doesn't want to hand out treats because he doesn't want strangers looking into our house. I tell him he's crazy and I will hand out treats. He says I'm the crazy one and never listen to him. I say fine and he can do whatever he wants. He decides to put treats in a bowl outside the door. Goes out to set it up and spends 30 minutes talking to the neighbors. He even ate a cupcake one of them gave him. I want a cupcake! In the meantime I was taking care of KJ. Then he comes inside and says it's going to rain so he's not leaving treats outside (still hasn't rained). I tell him to turn our front light off. He says nobody follows the light off rule. Our door rings and he looks at me and says, "You're not moving so I guess I have to get it." So I don't want to speak to him the rest if the night.

And a random thought, every time I get an email from sephora I think of you because they think my name is Kari from the mother's day swap lol
