  • @slippintrippn84‌ yes! I usually have a larabar or some nuts and dried fruit. I also chug water like crazy while nursing.

Anyone else lay their LO down only to have them wake up an hour later with gas? This happens almost every night. Just when I think Im going to get sleep..

This just happened with us and happened all last night too. She's also been feeding like crazy the past 24 hours or so. According to the Wonder Weeks app, we're 4 days away from her first leap, but maybe it's come early? Not sure how exact those things are or if they're just rough guidelines.
I'm being featured in a new pregnancy/motherhood blog during the month of October, so if you ever wanted to know more about my pregnancy, birth, and motherhood experiences than anyone ever should, check out my posts in the link below! :)

  • Nursed at 4:30, 5:30, and now at 7. Why does my daughter hate me?

Thank you @jenniferurs‌ ! I just downloaded that app and saw that my LO is in the last day of her leap!! Makes perfect sense as she has been crying more than normal. This app is awesome!

Mini vent. I spend a lot more time with lo than dh and if hes soothing fussy tired lo and lo wont calm down he complains so much i cant relax when i should have a chance to. I have to hear lo crying and dh complaining. I told him to calm down or lo would never sleep.
    This. Every. Single. Day.
To make matters worse, I think LO is amidst another growth spurt. That booger was hungry every 2 hours and ate around 31 oz today. As soon as I would pump, and I only got a feedings worth, he would eat it. I had no extra milk all day to freeze or pop in the fridge for later. Now I'm worried I'll run out tonight and I'm freggin exhausted. Please please please please sleep hard and long tonight LO.

  • LO has not stopped nursing since 730!! I took him off so I could eat, then back to nursing. Then took him off to shower, and back to nursing. If I didn't take him off those two times he would've kept going! Please, get full and give me liberty!!!

  • Just placed my super fussy LO in his bassinett with a paci & white noise. I thought babies were supposed to be happy and calm after eating. Lately my LO screams and fusses worse than when he's hungry. He's scratched the heck out of my chest during his tantrums.

Please please please please universe, let him sleep now. Please please!!
  • I'm baaaccckkk... :(
Lost track of the time and so by the time I'm ready to sleep, DH brings the baby upstairs and just puts him in the crib and walks into our room. Moments later, LO is crying due to (what I think) lack of bed time procedure. One diaper, another feeding, and a massive milk puke later, I crawl into bed. Look at my phone because it's buzzing. M-Fn time to pump. FML DH says, "oh, have fun with that, I've gotta go to bed b/c I have to go to work tomorrow." rolls over and then bitches that I didn't turn off my lamp.
Just wow. His blue balls are gonna be purple if he keeps this up.

  • LO slept 6 hours last night! After eating he went down for another 2!! Of course he's been awake and SCREAMING all day today. That means either another night of good sleep or a really shitty long night tonight. I'm going with shity and long.....

  • I think my daughter hates me. Seriously. Every time I hold her and she's not sleeping, she squirms and cries. With anyone else, she's awake and calm....FI, family members, doesn't matter. MOTN meltdowns take me hours to fix whereas if FI gets up with her, she's back asleep in no time. It's breaking my heart.
  • Update: up again. This time for a 3oz feeding. I have an awful jittery inner feeling... hard to describe.

  • I think we are in a growth spurt here. Every two hours or less around the clock during the day. Tonight he has done 2.5 and 2. I am so tired and hope this lasts only one night.

  • Didn't get LO to bed until midnight, she just want having it. And now an hour a half later she's still asleep but I wake up feeling like I'm going to be sick. Now I'm hanging out in the bathroom instead of sleeping.
  • LO fell asleep in the swing at 6:30p and DH & I fell asleep on the couch nearby at 8p. Just woke up a little bit ago and realized that LO has been asleep for nearly 6 hours. I'm scared that this means he'll be up a lot tonight. I just fed and he's fading but I'm wondering how long this will last. Should we have woken him up somewhere in there given the time of day?

  • I have almost mastered the art of sleeping while sitting up.
I'm pretty sure I did this last night, but I'm not sure. I thought I went in to tend to LO around 2ish, but didn't leave his room till 4ish and I'm sure that I wasn't in there awake for 2 hours, but then I'm not sure I slept either. Last night was super rough. Ended up just taking LO downstairs and watching TV till he passed out again b/c it became obvious that he didn't want to be in the crib :(

  • So LO will sleep longest when he snuggles on my chest and I've gotten pretty good at getting sleep while sitting up. Last night LO scooted and before I woke up slid down to my right and landed in my arm. I'm so thankful he didn't go left because there is a table there. So needless to say no more cuddle sleeping in this house. Scared the hell out of me
  • Anyone else go through a growth spurt and then engorgement? Thinking I have a clogged duct in my right but the left feels like it's gonna pop now cause I've been trying to nurse out the clog on the other side. Suddenly wishing baby would eat more like she was the past few days. Ouchy.

  • Baby is fussing I'm trying not to go pick him up and cuddle until he cries and DH is snoring like a freight train. I guess no sleep for me tonight
  • I fed LO at 12:45....she woke at 4 fussing. She probably was hungry....is it bad that I know if I pull her into bed with me she will sleep soundly? I feel like I'm purposely not feeding her and tricking her into more sleep but she must not be that hungry or she would still cry right? Eh those extra 2 hours are worth it, she's a chunky monkey baby anyways. I know she certainly isn't starved.
  • Got an almost 5 hour stretch but then up every two hours after that. He barely would nurse and fall right back to sleep. Any suggestions on how to get him to take more and sleep longer?

Dealing with the same thing, but no clogged duct that I can tell. I'm scared because this is only the first growth spurt! Trying to block feed. I'm pretty sure they call it that because you're boobs feel like blocks.
Eta: quote fail! I'm engorged too.

Lol yep we were block feeding then I seed to regulate supply where she could almost empty both and after the growth spurt we are block feeding again. It does feel like the boobs are blocks! The side I think is clogged feels like a jumbo Lego in there that won't go away after feeding or pumping at it.

  • Also after that 2:30 feeding I was able to successfully put her in her crib without her waking back up 5-10 minutes later! She slept 3-6 on her own in the crib! Big score for me since she's been wanting to be held or moby wrapped the majority of her days and nights lately.

  • It's 4:40 and I've been up since 3. The 3am feed was so painful, but I thought maybe we just didn't have the best latch side lying. But the stabbing pain continued so I went to check in the bathroom light and there's a giant milk bleb. Ugh. I had one last week, but was able to massage it out in the shower. I'm tempted to jump in the shower now, it hurts so bad. I'm not going to be able to sleep. Of course it would happen early on Saturday morning. I don't even know what to do if I can't take care of it myself.

  • About ten minutes ago I was seriously crying as I fed LO, just thinking about what a dumbass I was ten minutes before THAT, trying to put him down in his crib so I could go to my own bed instead of the couch and get some decent sleep. It's really hit or miss with the crib these days and sure enough, as soon as he lays down, despite having fallen asleep at the breast and being out cold, he pees through his diaper, outfit and swaddle and starts yelling his little head off. He's back in his vibrating snugabunny chair, I'm back on the couch, and wondering what happened to the awesome 4-5 hour stretches of sleep we were getting earlier in the week!! I really underestimated how much the sleep deprivation would get to me, because I've always been able to function really well on small amounts of sleep. But this is something different!! Also, my back hurts so badly all the time. From this couch, from leaning over the changing table, from carrying him around about 4x more than my husband does!!

  • Lay LO down after burping and keeping her upright for 20 min aaaaannnnnddddd she gets the hiccups.

I miss sleep so much. So so much. I only get naps these days. And then DH complains that he doesnt sleep well bc he wakes up in the middle of the night. Does he hear LO cry? No. He just randomly wakes up. Well you know what at least you can stay in bed and try to get back to sleep. Next time you wake up though why dont you go take care of LO because I could actually sleep.

*Rant over. I just needed to get that out. Those of you that have help in the middle of the night just know how lucky you are.

@sarahsimon I feel you so hard. I wish my husband would help me in the middle of the night. It's part of what is helping fuel me to get over my dread of pumping...if there are bottles in the fridge, he can get up for at least one feeding in the night...Not during the week, because I really do understand he's got to work and I'm on maternity leave and can nap more during the day, but at least on Fridays and Saturdays!!

@violajack‌ ugh I'm so sorry... That really sucks. I would jump in the shower and try to work it out since you won't be able to sleep anyway. Try to get some relief!

  • It is the most annoying thing ever to be on the pump, in the middle of the night, and LO starts to fuss/cry. DH will prob not get up to calm him down so I get to cut my pump short, and spend the next hour in there instead of relieving my tits. Thanks non-sleeping baby.

  • Newborns should not be awake for over 7 hours in a row.

  • On Wednesday, he'll be six weeks old. Why is he still only sleeping 1.5 to 2 hr stretches? Sometimes his initial sleep interval is longer, more like 3 hours, but then I get to pay for that because it can take up to two hours to get him back to sleep once he wakes up, so I actually end up getting less sleep when he sleeps longer, plus my breasts get engorged. I go back to work in one week. WTF.
  • So while rocking LO to sleep I saw a giant cockroach skitter into the nursery and I was like image.

LO is sleeping in my room tonight.

Holy hell! And you didn't leave the house?! I was feeding my LO the other night and a giant spider crawled across the floor. I wanted to run out and set the house on fire. Why does this happen when we're tethered to the kids and can't really move?
  • It's 1am why wouldn't LO be wide awake? Come on Jack help mommy out a little bit
  • It's almost 11 and my toddler (almost 3) is still awake! Just chatting and singing away. Can I go to sleep before her??? I think it's happening!

  • 7 hour stretch tonight! Thank you 2 month shots!

Downside is the projectile spit up side effect from the rotavirus vaccine. Ugh.

This is a legit side effect? That explains a lot! I've been projectile spit up on x2 for the past few days.

    Legit according to Dr. Google.

  • Just had a little scare. LO sometimes inhales his milk while chugging the bottle and he choked on it pretty hard tonight. He usually will cough it up but he really struggled with it and I had to intervene. Poor guy screamed an awful scream and cried like I have never heard him cry before. He was just as scared as I was and climbed up my chest and nuzzled as far as he could into my neck. Poor guy. This would not happen as often if we could just breast feed.
