My parents have been here since Sunday watching DD while I went back to teach and finish the school year. It's been amazing! I love watching them spend time with their first and only GD. My in-laws came last night and my MIL is watching DD tomorrow morning, just for a few hours. I don't know if it's because she hasn't seen DD since she was a week old, or because I sometimes question her decision making, but I am NOT looking forward to leaving her. :-(
She leaves on Monday, so I just have to get through the weekend. I wish we had a closer relationship... Any ideas how to bond with a MIL that never had daughters and struggles with female friends??
Thanks ladies, I had 4 glasses of wine with DH at our date night tonight and I feel a little better.
According to our spreadsheet no one lives in okc, but if you do let me know! My boss knows me too well and told me to "take the weekend to calm down" and call her Monday. I'm hoping she says I can work a few hours a day until the 7th.
Any STM that bf: did you first LO ever bite? I just ha this thought and am now scared for teeth
Dd only bit me a few times, long before she had teeth (she didn't get any till almost a year old). A quick thump on the cheek and me saying, "no bite!" took care of it. She BF for 16 months and never bit me again, not even when teething.

DD1 has been going to vacation bible school this week and received a CD of kids' praise music. I totally had to jet out of the room to avoid laughing in her face when I walked in on her fully deadpan Shatnering one of the songs.
"Your grace... is enough. Your grace... is enough. Your grace is... enough. Oh. Lord."
)
I had to ask my husband what you meant by this, so he showed me....... WHY. %-(

@KendraColeslaw I guess I needed to elaborate a little more than what I did. Oops! I didn't know what Jelly meant by Shatnering (I figured it was William Shatner but didn't know what it was in reference to).

DS1 bit me once and I took the boob away. They aren't supposed to be able to bite if they are latched correctly since their tongue is in the way. I would always just pay attention to when DS1 was finished eating so he didn't have any time to play around afterwards.

O would flash smiles sometimes, but one time I looked at him and went "WOMP WOMP WOMP" in a really low voice and he gave me crazy smiles. It works every time now.

Although I also got baby giggles while dancing and singing the "Thong Song" when it came on my Pandora. My baby is a little strange.
I nursed O while I was shopping earlier and plopped him in the car seat/stroller and put a blanket on him afterwards and continued shopping. He was passed out by the time we got to the car. When I got home and pulled the blanket off I saw that I had forgotten to buckle him in the car seat! Cue ugly cry for 5 minutes while I went through all the "what ifs" in my head since I was driving freeway speeds. Mom of the freaking year. Now he's getting all the snuggles.

DH and I did this after watching one of my classes' plays. She was under a blanket and he forgot he'd unbuckled her for comfort when the show started. I unwrapped her when we got home and flipped right out. Crying, freaked out mommy. We've never made that mistake again. (

T&Ps and all the hugs @Tasha575. It's hard seeing these things happen to our LO's, but thank God for modern medicine and that you are able to know about it so early and be proactive for anything that might come up.
My husband did the same thing when he was coming home off midnights and I was leaving to drive to a conservation area. Literally his only job was to buckle LO in while I put my coat on or whatever I was doing, and he forgot somehow.
So don't feel bad. Haha
We've done this once too!! I was ugly crying when we figured it out. But, it has never happened again.
Yep! Been there done that. Hello worst mommy of the year. Didn't help that DH made me feel like a total ass about it.
@aviola329 I use the Medela hands free when I'm pumping at work and I really like it! I have a L, and am also a 38DD, and it works really well. I only throw it on when I'm pumping, I just fold my normal nursing bras down and out of the way.
Hugs @Tasha575 ! Dealing with genetic probs with our kids is so hard. I have a genetic condition too that my kids have a 50% chance of inheriting and I feel so awful some days that I might have passed it on to then. It's awesome that you have support from your mom! And FX that it will just be a simple murmur that fixes itself.
Congrats on the rescue of Mr Giraffe. I can only imagine how worried you guys were. I know our household would be distraught if we lost Ducky .

FInally sized up diapers as the waist was getting a bit small in the 1's . He had been in the 1's since birth as the newborns flat out did not fit him . Well in both the 1's and the 2's the ass portion is ginormous. Major poos or not my kids bum does not fit either. poor guy and his non bum.

Ugh this happened a few weeks ago when I was with my Mom. Same thing, LO was tucked in with a blanket, Mom didn't check straps before putting her in the base. The very worst part is, we avoided an accident by inches when some jackass on a cell phone changed lanes without looking. Luckily my Mom swerved in time, but when I realized that LO was unbuckled after we got home, I lost.my.shit. I seriously sobbed for a long while thinking about what would have happened if he hit us. Now, I triple check no matter what.
Guys, our plans for the weekend include eating all the food and I'm so excited.
Tonight DH has a work dinner at a ridiculously good seafood place on the waterfront here in Boston where all of his unwed lady coworkers will fight over holding LO while I drink beer and eat a lobster. Butter. So much butter.
Tomorrow, our neighborhood GUACAMOLE COMPETITION where assorted neighbors will hold my baby and I will drink margaritas and shove approximately 9 avocados worth of guac in my face with no remorse.
Sunday is a BBQ festival held in Downtown Boston where my dad, brother and sister will hold my baby and I will eat all the ribs. All of them. And maybe a corn on the cob because vegetables.
Om nom nom nom nom. If I can manage to fit cake in there somewhere, it will officially be my dream eating weekend.
@MrsStanton87 I know it's hard right now and it sucks to hear "everything happens for a reason " but it does.
We found a house and were so excited. We offered market value (about 8,000 less then what they were asking) they took all 3 days to respond and then came down from their asking price $400. I was so pissed. Their agent said they HAD to get full asking on it our they would lose money.
So to make sure we weren't being stubborn we looked at it again and took our dads. Both found so much wrong with the house they said to run. We said no thanks. 3 week later we found our dream home (living in it now) and found out the other house sold for 15,000 less than asking. Karma is a bitch.
Long story short it sucks now, but you will find something!!

Add me to the list as well... Loosened the buckles for shopping around the mall in the car seat/stroller. Blanket covering. I was driving, totally remembered and pulled over to tighten. I was appalled at myself. But clearly it happens and now we won't forget!!!
May the Fourth Be With You: Our 5-4-14 Baby: Andrew Joseph
Baby Girl pulled a switcheroo this morning. She nursed for, like, three minutes (I HATE when she nurses just long enough for letdown, then stops. What a tease.) then fell asleep. Burped, swaddled, put her back down. Five minutes later she was fussing again. So frustrating! Picked her up to nurse again but she just wanted to be held. I'm not used to being more than a food source for her, so I was walking around, holding a cuddle bug and having all the feels.
Now we're nursing again, and she's started playing while nursing the last few days, which I am not amused by. Just now she nursed for five minutes, and I think she's discovering her tongue, because she's popping it in and out, snake-like, licking my boob like a lollipop. She doesn't want to suck on milk, she just wants to lick my breast. Little weirdo.
Also we're having a real date tonight! My BFF is coming over to watch Josie and DH and I are going to happy hour and Xmen! I also have a hair appointment at noon that DH will stay with the baby for, so this is officially the longest I'll be away from her since she's been born. I'm excited, but also really not wanting to leave her. I told him I reserve the right to call off the movie if I want to come back home to her. I know she'll be great and my nurse BFF will be great. It has nothing to do with them, and everything to do with separation anxiety on my end. Wish me luck!

went to target and ended up buying more of their nursing tanks. They had cute ones today not just the solid color ones so i got a couple that are stripey and some with decorative buttons.
Target is horrible though and i of course also got a maxi dress and a couple cute but looser shirts because my stomach is a mush pile and driving me nuts. I have a closet full of fitted everything and its depressing.
I'm going to try and make these Lemon Cupcakes with Raspberry Curd this weekend, but without dairy. I've made them before I had to go dairy-free and I love them to death - they're like summer in a dessert for me, so I'm going to make this work if it kills me!
