  • Having a shitty 24 hours. Food poisoning yesterday, Penny had her vaccinations this morning (we both cried). And just got mail from the gov telling me my maternity benefits were denied because I'm short 18 days of work :( Not working over the summer and having holidays over Christmas screwed me. (Substitute teacher). I would have had enough hours if the time frame they based the assessment on didn't include summer break. So my income of 1500-2000 a month is now nothing. Great.
OMG what! Vacation time shouldn't work against you...you can file an objection. I would definitely try! I'm so sorry you're going through this. :(
It's so frustrating because I've been working in AB for 11 years.... and they are basing my request off of the last year. I've been paying into these benefits since I was 16 and now don't get to use them. Doesn't make sense to me at all. I worked a TON this school year but I'm not a salaried employee and I obviously can't work when there is no school in the summer or over Christmas. September is always slow too. I wish I had known this was going to happen because I could have temped at my dad's office once a week or something to qualify. That would have been super easy for me to do.

I had successfully fought it off for weeks, but I have finally succumbed to my sons illness. Taking care of an infant while down with the flu sucks balls.

@poru I'm so sorry! Get it out if your system, now though, girl. You are not allowed to be sick next week!

  • Thought I'd be a nice wifey and make homemade burgers and potato wedges for dinner . By make I mean form the patties as there is no way I should be allowed near the BBQ.

It was sunny when I thought of this and now that the patties are in the fridge awaiting their fate it's pouring like Noah is coming

Somehow I doubt SO is going to want to BBQ but I really want a cheeseburger.

Well today sucks.  Carlene didn't go to sleep until about 12:30 and right as I started to drift off, DS woke up crying.  I had to go up the stairs to his room several times before he went back to sleep, so I didn't sleep until about 1:30, then he woke up again at 5:00 and was up for the day at 7:00.

Carlene got a cold several days ago and has decided to share it with the entire family.  I'm offering DS all of his favorite foods to try to get him to eat and he is turning down everything.  We have a family photo shoot today from Groupon that DH bought months ago that expires on Thursday, so we're probably all going to have red noses and circles under our eyes.

On the bright side, Carlene is content in her crib right now, DS will be napping soon and I fully intend to nap myself.

ETA:  And for some reason the dog has diarrhea.

  • @ebie79 I'll keep the pumpkin in mind.  Hopefully we won't need it, but that it good to know if we do.

Since I caught James staring at the TV multiple times, I've decided that part of our day will involve singalong time! I put on Disney songs and sing to him while I tickle him and move his arms/legs to the beat. So far he loves it! Especially when the "I wanna be like you" song from The Jungle Book comes on. :)

This is my favorite song to play/sing for Sullivan. Quite possibly my favorite Disney song ever!

  • How do you do this with two kids? Sitting next to LO on the floor while he swings, and my dog brings me his antler so I can hold it for him while he chews it (lol) and my cat is on my lap trying to climb onto my shoulders. Add another kiddo to this mix?! Ha!

Thats why you wait unti the first one is pretty self sufficient. It's magical.

Amen. Bonus points if #1 is an age whete you can send them to day camp or kindergarten half the day.
All 3 of my older kids are gone from 8-3, of course it's summer break right now so they are bat shit crazy.

  • DH decided to take 3 weeks of paternity leave next month. We're thinking of doing a family vacation. Any suggestions with an almost 2 year old and 3 month old?
  • Kid has been fed and swaddled (including his top off of pumped milk) and he's wide awake, creepy staring at me.
I knew this method was too good to be true after working 4 nights in a row :(

  • Poor kiddo! After his shots today he has been sleeping almost non-stop. He woke up to feed at 6:30pm and was drowsy and dozing off until midnight when DH finally decided to wake him up for a feeding. I don't think he has eaten this little since he was three weeks old. Hopefully I get my happy snuggly baby back tomorrow--I don't like this shot stuff!
  • Shots + the 6 hour nap that followed = the worst nights sleep since B was a month old. We are already on wake up #2.
