    Another one:
I know not to put sunscreen on LO until at least 6 months. But what about what I put on my chest? Like if I'm going for a walk and wearing him, should I skip the sunscreen on my chest?

I would still use it. My pedi told us to use sunscreen on LO already because it's better than LO getting a burn. We'll keep her covered up but put sunscreen on her face at the beach even though we plan to keep her shaded- a lot reflects off sand & ocean.

I'm happy to hear that. It was...nope, you're doing it wrong and...its supply and demand, you're gonna affect your supply, etc... I was kind of stressed about it. I'm going to do one at a time from now on. Like always!

DD has a hemangioma on her ear and we have to make an appointment with a dermatologist which we plan to so next week. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they dangerous or cause for concern or do they just go away like dr google leads me to believe?

Had our first baby, Samuel Robert, on April 17, 2014!

  • I used Blue Lizard baby sunscreen with DS. It doesn't have something in it that other sunscreens have that they can absorb into their skin. I can't think of what it is at 3am.

DD has one on her back and her pedi said it's harmless. He said it might get a little bigger but it's not painful to them and will eventually go away by the time she's 5-6.

@snmetz7 DD had one on her ear when she was born. Her pedi said that it wasn't and issue and would probably be mostly gone by age 5. She will be 5 in July and guess what! Its just about gone.

This is her at 3 months old
    image

This is her at 4 years...its mostly gone and just a little pink (hard to see through her hair)
    image

ETA: she actually has a rather large one on her leg that was bigger the one on her ear and that is also just about faded.

  • Is it ok to put neosporin on my DD's ear (outside).
I asked about this a couple days ago. Her ear appears to be very dry and crusty/flaky. I called her pediatrician and they said to put aquaphor on it for 3 days and see how it does. It's day 3 and I've noticed it's weeping (like slightly oozing) and the dry areas are tinted yellow.
I'm worried it could be infected but I have no idea what could have caused it.
She has bad baby acne on her face (cheeks and neck). I don't know if it's acne on her ear that got irritated.
I just thought I'd give a little description to see if anyone had any clues.

Hmm, this sounds like something my DD gets in the crease behind her ears and its eczema. Every so often it flares up and gets infected and ozzes and gets crusty. I would probably have it checked out again. I'm not sure how to treat it on a little one so young, we have a RX cream for DD but she is 4 years old. Her pedi did suggest to keep it dry as possible and lotion to prevent flare ups.

Oh no. I have no experience with eczema. Is this something she would have her entire life (if it is eczema). Is it hereditary because nobody in my side or DH's side has it as far as I know.
Thanks for your response! Ill call the pediatrician again tomorrow
  • I'm not sure we really just figured out what it was just a few months ago, but she has been getting it on and off since she was 9 months old. DH and I don't have eczema issues but we do have sensitive skin, so far she is the only one that gets it out of out 3 kiddos and its only behind her ears...so pretty mild case and doesn't bother her too much. No one in either of our family has it as far as I know too.

Can you develop PUPPP postpartum? I have noticed a bunch of bumps on my bottom and outer thighs and they are SO itchy! When I press on the skin it looks like white stretch marks but they look like bumps otherwise. My stomach is incredibly itchy as well but I have stretch marks so it could be that? They aren't getting better and I feel like I'm getting more and more as the days go on.

Yes you can develop it postpardum and it's horrible! I have been suffering from it. It started at my stretchmarks on my belly and have now spread all over my arms, legs and breasts. There is no cure, the dr told me to use hydrocortisone cream but it hasn't done much to help. Right now I'm taking dandelion root but so far I can't tell if it's helping our not...I really hope that isn't what you have because I wouldn't wish it on anyone!
Oh no! I'm sorry you are suffering! I'm almost positive that's what I have and I'm miserable. I've never itched so bad in my life! I got some Aveeno anti-itch lotion to help alleviate the itch but I'm not sure it's really working either.

The best anti-itch cream I've ever used is IvaRest. Supposed to be for poison ivy rashes, I use it on fire ant bites and it stops the itching (and I'm allergic to ant bites such that my whole leg swells from one bite on a toe).
I'll have to give that a try! I brushed myself from scratching so hard. Do you know if it's safe for BFing?

So the lady at whole foods said nutritional yeast would work in place of brewers yeast. Since we weren't sure she gave it to me for free. Anyone know if they are interchangeable?

They are different but I was told they do the same for supply. I have both and the nutritional yeast has a cheese flavor and is flakey, whatever the brewers yeast is a powder and mine has no flavor. Some are very bitter tasting apparently.

  • My LO seems to stick out her tongue quite often. She does it a little when she's hungry but she'll also do it after a full bottle so it's not just a hunger cue. Is this just a normal baby thing? We've started calling her Lizzy the lizard lol

I got brewers yeast at Whole Foods in the supplements area. Just next to the chia and liquid coconut oil.

My whole foods was out of brewers yeast but ha the nutritional yeast and because it wasn't what I wanted she gave it to me free of charge. Looks like it has the same effect so I am excited to use it. But I forgot chocolate chips:( so it will have to wait until tomorrow.

  • Funny story about the tongue thing: dd was doing it when I took her to visit some coworkers. A male coworker looked at her and asked her if she had a funny taste in her mouth! =))

Question: DD has been sleeping in the mamaroo during the day and RNP at night. Any time I put a blanket over her legs she kicks it off. But the past night or two she sounds congested when she sleeps and her little hands are just a bit chilly. Should I be dressing her warmer to sleep? I keep her in a footed jammie and we keep our house at 74 degrees. I just feel bad thinking I am overheating her if I put her in a halo or something.

I have the same worry. My poor babe has cold hands all the time but hates her arms swaddled. I thinking about just a long sleeve onsie because she's finally stopped kicking off the covers. She sweats easily too, though. I don't know which is worse...Hot or cold.

same thing is happening with my LO. No spitting up until this week, and now it's happened the last few days. Still just once or twice a day though. I was going to ask the pediatrician but I'm guessing it's normal?

I use coconut oil kind is as a diaper cream. It creates a barrier so the poop doesn't stick and is super easy to clean off. Also It makes her butt smell like a pina colada. I sometimes use it to lube up my nipples before I pump too.

Same thing with my baby too! Weird. I'm glad it's not just her. It's usually just a little bit. There's only been a handful of times when there was a LOT - like it seems she puked up everything she ate. She never seems upset or anything, so I just figured it was normal.

  • Are you supposed to/is it recommended that you give LO baby Tylenol after they get shots? My LO got his second hep vaccine today and the doc didn't mention it but everyone else I talked to did.
  • My dr said the hep vaccine shouldn't need any Tylenol. DD seemed fine after it but didn't like the area touched. She did mention I should give her Tylenol after the next round of shots
