Are you going to bring LO in the water? I'd use one if you will only because a regular diaper absorbs so much, and going without while you're in the water is a dangerous proposition with baby's poop habits.
Thanks! I have friends that want to have lunch tomorrow but I'm too afraid to leave him (just because I would miss him) and then afraid of taking him out. It's also 40 min each way, and it's my first time with an infant out, ever. Should I go? My son us 6 days old.
Tonight she'd only stop fussing if I held her propped upright, so I put her in her swing (which she normally hates...) and she zonked out. Now I'm terrified to move her because DH and I are both irritable and sleep-deprived. Her nose isn't blocked, though her head is tilted a bit forward but not harshly so.
This answer is a little late but I wouldn't touch that baby! Let her sleep. My LO slept in his swing for almost the first week of his life. It was the only way he would sleep and my pediatrician said it was. As long as she is chin to chest I think it's fine.
So she DOES need to have her chin resting on her chest, then? That's part of what I was paranoid about, I thought she wasn't supposed to be that way. When I felt the back of her neck, it wasn't overly stretched forward so I left her. She slept fantastically. I, on the other hand, was paranoid she was going to stop breathing and didn't get a wink. @-)

I know chin on chest is bad for baby but dd likes to tilt her head to the side so it rests on her shoulder while she sleeps in the car seat. I fix her and she goes right back. Is this ok? If not how do I fix it? I can't get anymore towels in there to keep her up.

I asked the publc health nurse about this and she assured me it is not as uncomfortable as it looks and not to worry about it. I find when I try to prop her head up with a blanket so that it doesn't fall to the side, it falls forward instead, which is bad news. I just leave it and try to minimize how much time she spends sleeping in the carseat.
Does this K'tan look like it is fit properly? Please disregard the stupid look on my face - Truman was screaming his head off for reasons unrelated to the carrier. Anyway, I worry this medium is too big. It is a K'tan Breeze so perhaps it will stretch slightly less, but I have no idea. Thoughts?
Girl moms, stupid question from a boy mom. DD has some booger-like discharge coming from her vagina. Totally normal right? Cuz she's getting hormones from my milk and whatnot? Not worried, more curious. I vaguely remember girl moms discussing this 2 years ago but didn't pay much attention since I had a boy.
The nurse told us it's totally normal and not to wipe it away. You may also notice some blood in the diaper (very little) in the first few days also due to hormones and such. Our nurse told us some girls get a "mini period" because of hormones. My LO didn't - or I didn't notice it - but my niece did for a day or 2
Is there such a thing as too much time in a car seat? I want to visit my dad who lives 1.5 hours away, so 3 hours round-trip in the car. Plus I do an hour walk every morning with my dog, and he's in the car seat in the stroller then too. Would 4+ hours in one day be excessive? I just feel bad cause he always looks so scrunched up in there, poor little gaffer.
I wonder this too...but my family lives 8 hours away by car. I just can't imagine him in there for up to 2 hour stretches at a time for that long. Please tell me someone has a successful road trip with am infant?
I'll let you know in a month after we drive from SC to PA... eeek!
@rockstarlaw The size looks fine to me. I was having the same concern and I went to the store to exchange for a small, but the woman there just adjusted how I was wearing it and we were set. You want the material to be spread out a bit more on your shoulders. That will keep baby closer to your body. And be sure the straps are crossed on your back. I also pull that loop down pretty low before I put my daughter in to keep her high up on my chest. I highly recommend getting someone to help you at the store if you can. They can also check the sizing to be sure. It was much more comfortable after she showed me what to do. Hope that helps!
I mostly lurk here, but I am in complete panic mode. My daughter is six weeks old and she doesn't make much eye contact. My pediatrician asked about her eye contact at her one month check up and since then I have been trying to get her to look at me more, but I haven't had much luck. She makes eye contact with me but it is usually for a very short time. Am I expecting too much? Is it too early for me to be panicking this much? My husband works in another state and hasn't seen the baby in a few weeks so there is no one for me to talk this over with. Our family lives far away too. I will probably call my pediatrician tomorrow just to have him hopefully calm me down.
Is it too late to start wearing a belly binder type thing 1 week PP? I never got around to buying one (and then ended up having a C section). I'm interested in one, but is it too late to do any good??

Yep. Totally normal, she might also have a little blood too.
What temperature is considered too hot to take baby out for a walk? It's 80, cloudy and slightly breezy here and I'm jonesing to take Merriwether out in the stroller. Yay or nay?

I did and it was awesome. I was WAAAAAY more overheated than Merri, thank goodness. Humble is the ex-D1 nationals-qualifying runner who just had a baby and can barely push a stroller up a hill without breaking into an uncontrollable sweat and pant-a-thon.
This is really stupid, but that's what we're here for, right? I bought new coconut oil (is this one better, @ColleenSwerb ?) and I also use the Motherlove nipple cream. Do I use these together? Or separately? If together, does it matter which one I apply first?
I know some green poop is okay for BF babies but my LO consistently has green poops with a random yellow one here and there. This all started when I started giving him Little Remedies gas drops and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. Is it possible for the two to be related? Also, I've been finding some blood here and there in his green poops which I know could be a dairy issue but his stool hasn't been "frothy" or "mucusy," so should I be concerned? I've been eating dairy since LO was born (he's 3 weeks) and the green poops/blood didn't start until about 4 days ago. Any insight?
How often does your LO look directly at you? My DS is 3 weeks tomorrow. I noticed the only time he looks directly at me is when he is eating (both when I breastfeed and bottle feed). When he was very alert today I was talking to him and he would always look just past me, never directly at me. Is that normal for this age?
My baby has woken three times before midnight. Last night he woke frequently too. Before this he has always been very consistent: 2-3 times TOTAL and at the same times. Is a sleep regression normal and will he go back to normal soon if it is?? He's 4 weeks on Thursday.

My experience with both my boys as newborns is that they will go through growth spurts where they wake up a bunch to eat. My LO is 4 weeks on Saturday and he just did this to me last night. I think he's nursing all the milk I have! Anyway, they do go back to sleeping better once they stock up on calories.
But be prepared: every growth spurt, developmental milestone, and illness could mean poor sleep for you and LO until they morph into preteens and sleep forever.
Do babies get their tdap shot at 2 months? Once they get this shot is it still important that caregivers get this shot? Or was it only important for caregivers to get it if they were planning to be around the baby prior to the baby getting their tdap?

My baby is doing the same thing (around 4 weeks) - she was actually sleeping through the night and now she's up several times most nights. Pretty sure she's just a bit too young to have a real schedule. Very annoying.
4 weeks PP, breastfeeding and planning to continue for several months...is there any chance my boobs will get smaller than they are now? Or should I be buying giant nursing bras?

I took DD1 on a 6hr trip at 3w, just stopping for milk & diapers. She did fine.
