Hi ladies! Just wanted to pop in after a MIA weekend. So much going on, but can I just say how loved and blessed I'm feeling right now? Sometimes it's in the midst of the hardest times that you know you are truly loved and cared for. And I love having this community to come back to. Squishy hugs for all!

Random thought of the day: going to birthing classes is really good for my marriage. That's what DH was saying last night after ours, and I heartily agree. Yay for unexpected blessings!

My SO is always so nice after our classes too! I get back rubs and everything. Why don't they spread them out longer? Five classes arent enough.

I've filed for 7 years with my madien name because I have yet to change it on my SSC but its been my married name on my DL since 2 weeks after the wedding. I just hyphenated my madien and married names.

This is the worst part of getting married IMO! I had to switch my name and the state my id was in. Took me two days and 8 hours. OK has this stupid system and I had to go to three different places.

Agreed. I remember looking up changing all this stuff in the couple days after our ceremony and the local SS office said I had to have an updated driver's license to change my SSC to my married name. The DMV said I had to have an updated SSC to get my license changed. What in the fucking fuck, seriously?! I don't even remember how we finally got that shit sorted out, but I DO remember it took about a week and I was a hairsbreadth from going on a psychotic rampage. I swear, the county we lived in is so ass-backward in some things... *sigh*

I need to vent. I am feeling very stressed and overwhelmed. I am under a great deal of pressure at work right now. I generally work 10 hour days, but my whole dept is crazy right now so my boss is now asking all of us to work a couple of extra hours each day. I'm barely getting through my normal 10 hours, so I just don't know how I'm going to survive working even more hours each day.

And added to all of this is that DH and I offered to let our 11 year old niece have her birthday party at our house this Saturday. My SIL is currently out of work and they live in a small apartment, so we offered to help.

I'm going to have random moms and kids in my house on Saturday. My house is a mess, and I have no idea when I'm going to clean the house between all of the extra hours at work, etc. I just don't know how I'm going to get everything done this week. I just want to cry.

PSA again: Diapers.com has newborn diapers on sale and with the code: WOW3MONTHS they work out to be $.18 a diaper. It's the pampers economy sized boxed. And only the size 1 and 2 work out to be the cheapest. The others are on sale but not as good.

If I already have 2 of those huge boxes in both sizes should I get more? That seems like a crazy amount to me, but I've never been there before.

My mom had a different last name than me and my sister because she was remarried and never had issues.

I am totally in favor of women not changing their last names to their husbands'. My personal belief is that I shouldn't have to give up my identity just because I married a man. What an outdated idea. I did it for him today as a way to honor him because he's so wonderful to me. My maiden name is (obviously) my father's last name and he's not a good man and he's a deadbeat jerk who has caused nothing but pain for me and my family. eta - I definitely didn't do this because we're having a baby. I don't care about parents with different last names who have kids. There's plenty of mixed families in this world that that shouldn't even matter.

I did it because I hated my maiden name. I was glad to get rid of it and break my ties with a family history that has a lot of issues. If I liked my name, I wouldn't have changed it.

I changed my last name because it was literally one of the worst last names possible...nothing to do with my family. They are great, but I couldn't handle the jokes anymore. I'm also so thankful my mother didn't give birth to me 4 hours quicker..I was born at 4am on 4/21. Otherwise I would have been born on 4/20 with a last name that goes with marijuana...

I was excited to change my last name

It was a little difficult for me as a teacher to remember not to call some of the mom's by their child's last name, but that is all the experience I have with that. When my mom divorced my dad I started crying when she told me she was going to change her last name back to her maiden name because I didn't want her to have a different name (so she didn't), but the Kinders' whose mom had a diff. name didn't care/notice.

This is not a common occurrence with episiotomies (when done properly) and I would think that there is some sort of corrective surgery that could be done to fix it.

@dani+california -- It was important to us to have the same last name, and since I was more attached to my last name, my husband took mine! It raised a few eyebrows, but I love that we did it a little differently. Bio-dad isn't in the picture, so DH grew up having a different name than his mom, and my last name would've died out after my sister and I got married. When DH asked my parents for my hand, he also asked them to take our last name. My dad was sooo happy, and even more so now that we are having a little boy to carry it on as well

Didn't change mine and it's never been an issue. Although I got this weird piece of mail one time that had my son's first name, my middle initial then our last names blended together. It's like they couldn't decide who to address it to so they just jumbled our names. I forget what it was for but I kept it because I thought it was so hilarious.
