Re: Introductions

  • Hello all!!

Introduce yourself: Hi! I’m Hillary and I’m expecting my first child! I’m 37 and my husband and I were married in September 2021. I’m from Fort Wortn, TX.

Due date? September 15 (but not yet confirmed)

How did you find out? We’ve been trying and I took a home pregnancy test. I wanted to do something fun to surprise my husband but I got too excited.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) my husband and I bought our dream home together last year. I work at home, and have for over 6 years now. We have 3 dogs thst we’re obsessed with. I love gardening and anything outdoors. We both enjoy camping and road trips.

How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) I’m honestly exhausted but also have insomnia for the first time in my life. I have waves of nausea but I haven’t gotten too sick yet. My first appointment is in two weeks. I’m nervous and very excited!

GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever: Tortellini
  • Introduce yourself: Hi! I'm mnmomma84 - sorry, no real name on the interwebz. 6 weeks and 3 days along, I'm 37 (will be 38 when baby is due) and this will be our 3rd child. Husband and I have 2 boys, ages 15 and 8, and we live in Minnesota.

Due date? Due September 16 according to my app, but maybe that will change slightly after meeting with my OB?

How did you find out? We had just recovered from covid and I thought the nausea/vomiting was due to being sick...until it stuck around for another week and a half and my period was a few days late. Not necessarily a planned pregnancy, we're a little shocked and slightly anxious about our age this time around, but we're happy to expand our family.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) We have 2 boys who keep us on our toes. One dog, Arthur, who is a great little buddy and I think might suspect something is up with me based on my pheromones. He seems a tad clingy. We recently moved to a home on the Mississippi river and enjoyed kayaking and fishing last summer. Wondering how I'll be able to fit a big ol' belly into a kayak this summer...

How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) Feeling a little anxious about this pregnancy. My age is a factor, and I had GD the last time so am anticipating the glucose test a lot earlier this time and hoping that we don't have to deal with that again. Symptoms come and go, typical stuff but the bloating has been the worst.

GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. If I had to choose one thing, probably sesame chicken with fried rice!

  • Introduce yourself: Hi, I'm Michelle. I just turned 38 this month and live in LA county.

Due date? As of right now 9/10, they will reconfirm at my appointment next week, but to make a long story short I’m measuring behind what my LMP dates would suggest.

How did you find out? We had always talked about a 3rd, but with Covid put the convo on pause. We finally decided it’s now or never, as we don’t really want a bigger gap than what there already is going to be between this one and our older kids.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) my husband and I have been together for 15 years and we have a 6 year old son and a 4 year old daughter. I work full time, so aside from that and spending time with the family, the only other hobby I really have right now is reading.

How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) This pregnancy feels very much like my first, except I’m nauseous at random times vs the first half of the day with him. Same aversions, no sweets, no grilled/sautéed onions, can only handle low amounts of meat, etc. I’m also just so exhausted and dealing with more cramping this time around.

GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. Easy, pasta all day.

  • Introduce yourself: Hey! My name is Emily, and I’m from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada! 🇨🇦

    Due date? sept 15th

How did you find out? Funny enough, dollar store pregnancy test (+4 digital tests) and then blood work & ultrasound!

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) me & my hubby have been together for 7 years now & married 3 in June this summer. We bought our first house about 2 years ago & adopted the cutest black lab / shepherd dog, which we rename Duke!

How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) I had my first DR appt today & had my ultrasound, it was amazing I cried like a baby! Lol… I have been feeling so emotional lately & quite sick!!

GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. Pizza!!!!!!

  • Introduce Yourself: I'm not comfortable putting my name out for the world to see, but hello! I'm 32.

Due Date: Originally I thought I was due around August 16, but it turns out I'm actually due September 11.

How Did I Find Out: We found out from doing a home test, then confirmed through an OB.

Tell Us About Yourself: I have 4 other children from my previous marriage, but my husband is extremely supportive and loves them dearly like his own. We are pregnant with our first together (his first, my fifth!). It's stressful because we had miscarried last year and have this fear it will happen again, but staying optimistic. For occupation I used to be an Ironworker but quit the union. I am now a maintenance personnel and welder at a gravel pit on 10 hour shifts. I absolutely love my job, and I love welding. I also love to crochet, cook, bake. I have a 7 year old German Shepard who is darling. My husband is also an Ironworker, and works around the clock.

How Are You Feeling: Physically nothing but my breasts and nipples hurt. I'm constantly nauseous and can barely hold anything but bread down. Emotionally I'm drained for multiple personal reasons.

GTKY Fun Fact: If I could eat anything forever it would definitely be Mexican food or Udon.

  • Introduce yourself: Hi everyone! My name is Kristin, I'm 32, and this is my first baby! I'm from eastern PA

    Due Date: 9/3/22

How did you find out?: Husband and I were trying since September and I just felt it. I took a test before my missed period and the line was bright and pink!

Tell us about yourself: I'm a speech therapist working in early intervention. I absolutely love my job! I enjoy doing crafts (card making, knitting), we also love to do outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking. Husband and I have been married for 3 years, together for 10.

How are you feeling?: Very tired, sore boobs, and nauseous. Fortunately no vomiting, but I have this gross taste in my mouth so I feel like I'm constantly eating to make it go away lol. I had my first ultrasound last Monday and we got to see our little bean!!!

GTKY: I would choose rice. I love any kind of rice and could eat it literally anytime!

  • Due date?

    September 3

    How did you find out?

Super cheap pregnancy test strip, followed by blood test and ultrasounds at week 6 & 8.

Tell us about yourself: Job? Things you like to do?

I’m 43. This is my first successful pregnancy after a miscarriage this spring. I’m a landscape contractor. Currently no pets.

How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?)

Next ultrasound is at week 12. I’m feeling decent. Tired/exhausted a lot of the time. Sore breasts. Heightened sense of smell combined with taste buds that seem mis-calibrated. Food aversions that shift around on a sometimes daily basis.

GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever.

at this point in my pregnancy that would be fresh fruit!

  • Introduce yourself: Hello! I am Carlie and I’m 33 years old. My husband and I have a 9 year old daughter. We are originally from CA but live in Costa Rica now!

Due date? September 30 but not yet confirmed

How did you find out? I was so sure I was but the moment has been such a long time coming that I waited 6 days post scheduled period to take a test and it was a very clear positive.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) myself, my husband, our daughter, dog and cat moved to Costa Rica last year and have been so happy here. I quit my corporate job in the US and we made investments here in Costa Rica. We spend our days fishing, surfing and managing our businesses.

How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) It’s been 10 years since I was pregnant so it feels both exciting and overwhelming! In Costa Rica the public healthcare system is not generally where expats choose to birth so we are currently deciding between a home birth with an OB or a home birth with a midwife. I have a phone appointment with my first choice midwife next week and hopefully I’ll better understand then the logistics of care here.

GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. Mexican food which is not available here anywhere!!!
    trapperkeeper87magnolia209
  • @[email protected] Welcome! My husband and I do a lot of offshore fishing and plan to take a trip to Costa Rica very soon! Idk how you're living without mexican food! haha
    magnolia209
  • I made nachos today for lunch. Not ideal but it curbed the desire a bit ☺️.
  • Introduce yourself: Hi, my name is Katie. I am a 30 year old from Kentucky.

    Due date? September 14, 2022

How did you find out? I had been acting extra emotional and spent my 40 minute drive home from work crying nonstop thinking about my poppy (grandpa) who passed when I was 10. Also, was super pissed at my husband for having to work over when I knew it was part of his job and he couldn't refuse. Usually understanding about that. Took a home test after dinner when I barely ate and it was positive. I was not quite 4 weeks. Just called my husband into the bathroom mid-dinner and showed him the test.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I have two bonus/step kids: 14 year old boy and a nearly 7 year old girl. The 7 year old is moving in with us permanently in a week. I have an 8 year old son from my first marriage that I have full custody of. Husband (31) and I got married in October 2021. We have 2 cats. I currently work but will become a SAHM around 5/6 months.
I have may-thurner syndrome, factor V, history of DVT and I am stented twice. My husband required I get cleared by a MFM specialist before he would be open to trying since I had been told by numerous physicians before to never get pregnant again. Got cleared in May 2021.

How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) Overall, shitty. I've been throwing up almost every day for 3 weeks. I've felt really depressed. No interest in much of anything. I go to work, come home and do the bare minimum, and am asleep by 7-8pm. My husband has been an all-star. Been doing all his usual household chores and mine without complaining. The moment I get sick he is there with a cold rag, to hold my hair, and to rinse my 'puke bowl' after.
I've had 3 appts and ultrasounds before 8 weeks. Have another ultrasound and appt @ 10 weeks and 12 weeks. I guess I'll be having them every about 2 weeks. Seems excessive but it's cool comparing the ultrasounds as we go.

GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. Probably sweet potato casserole!

  • @edelweiss2 sorry to hear you're so sick! I was super sick from 5.5 -8.5 weeks but have started to feel a bit better now. Hope your sick doesn't last too long.
    edelweiss2
  • Introduce yourself: Hey y'all! I'm Jennifer. I'm 36, currently 8 weeks (not confirmed, but likely), and this is our rainbow baby after my first pregnancy resulted in a loss last November.

    Due date? September 18(ish)

How did you find out? We've been trying for about 6 months and this was my 2nd cycle after a MC. I took a test as soon as I could and I told my husband as soon as he woke up (he was working nights). I'm bad at keeping secrets, so I have almost slipped up so many times when talking to other people. We told a bunch of people the first time and I had a MC a week after we found out I was pregnant, so we have held back a lot more this time.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) This will be our first child. No pets, but when we move into a bigger place, I'm hoping we will get a dog. I am a powerlifter and until I got pregnant, I was planning to compete in a couple local meets this year. I am a prosecutor and my husband works for the city.

How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) I have had some nausea the last couple weeks, but I've mostly just been really tired. I ended up getting covid, so the super smell has toned down a lot. My first appointment is on Tuesday (2/8) and I'm simultaneously excited and nervous.

GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever: Nachos

  • Hi! I’m Carly and I live in Europe although I am American. My husband is from here and we relocated last year with our two little ones, a one year old and an almost 3 years old.

This newest little one is unofficially due 9/27.

I took a test pretty early since we were trying to get pregnant and I suspected it. I had a full blown meltdown one day and knew something was different hormonally. We are really excited but a little cautious given loss we’ve experienced with our first.

I am a little nervous about delivering in a new country with a new medical system and I’m currently looking for a doctor near us that speaks English! I’m feeling the nausea for sure and the fixation on food.

Speaking of fixation on food, if I could eat one thing for the rest of my life it for sure would be sushi. It’s the only thing I think about these days 😆 😭
    oh-suzicueelle-0409
  • Introduce yourself: Hi everyone! My name is KA (abbreviated) and I live in Pennsylvania with my husband and our 110lb Bernedoodle! I’m 29.

    Due date: 9/11

How did you find out: Had some implantation bleeding, took a pregnancy test on New Year’s Day and it was positive! I had a chemical pregnancy in early Dec so I have been hesitant to get excited/ even introduce myself but I had my dating ultrasound this morning so I feel a bit better!

Tell us about yourself: I work in education, I love to read, I’m an Eagles fan, I love to shop, and I enjoy cycling & barre for exercise! This will be our first child 💜

How are you feeling: Depends on the minute 😂 right now I am anxious but also a bit relieved post-scan. No crazy morning sickness but sore breasts for weeks and so sleepy! I’m a little apprehensive so I may not be super engaged but it’s not for lack of support of all of you, it’s just nerves!!

If I could only eat one thing forever it would probably be sushi or turkey sandwiches which is so unfortunate 😂

    channas20oh-suzicueelle-0409

  • Introduce yourself: My name is Julianne and this isn't my first rodeo but I am so excited to be back!

    Due date? September 9th

How did you find out? We were out of town between Christmas and New Years and I thought for sure I would get my period while we were away. But I didn't - and I am an every 28 days to the hour kind of girl. When we got home I realized I was 4 days late. I never thought I was pregnant but took a test before I called my doctor to find out what was wrong with me. Turns out, nothing was wrong...just fertile.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) My family (husband and two sons (June 2019 and Aug 2020) and I live in Baltimore with my mom while we rebuild our 1854 farmhouse. It's a circus but the end is near and we *should* be home by May 2022. My husband travels Monday - Friday several months a year for work so I solo parent some of the time.

How are you feeling?  Exhausted. I was tired with my first but not with my second at all. However this pregnancy I am tired all the time and no amount of sleep helps. I also am nauseous which is new for me.

GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. Dolmas from Wegmans antipasti bar.

  • Introduce yourself: | Hi! ❤️ I’m Susan - I’ll be 30 in a few weeks and live in central Indiana. My husband and I both work from home (I have a home bakery) with our three-legged golden retriever mix we rescued from Texas.

Due date? | Sept. 11, but haven’t confirmed by a doctor yet.

How did you find out? | I thought I had implantation cramps, so I was suspicious pretty early. I was hit with extreme exhaustion at three weeks so I tested and it was clear as day!

My husband has a favorite Premier League soccer team, so I bought team pacifiers two years ago during my Christmas shopping. I knew whenever the big day came, I’d surprise him with the pacies to tell him. Yep… I’m a planner to a fault!!

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) | I grew up downhill skiing, so a definite snow bunny here! My husband works in finance and talks numbers all day (blah), meanwhile I live in our kitchen making wedding cakes and custom cookies. It’s my dream job and I love it! This will be our first kiddo - although our little pup Millie will always be our first. ;)

How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) | Anxious for our first appointment - it’s not for another week and I’m ready to meet our baby at the US! It feels so weird not knowing the gender yet; I feel like it won’t feel real until we do. Otherwise, totally and absolutely exhausted and nothing sounds good to eat. Lol!

GTKY Fun fact: Tell us what you would choose if you could only eat one thing forever. | I’m with the masses here! There’s a taco place near us called Condado that has the most amazing combinations. I could eat their burrito bowls every day of my life!

    Due date? 9/3

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I have a 9.5 year old, an almost 7 year old, a 1 year old pomsky puppy, and a 17 year old black cat. I like to cycle and do yoga (not that I’m particularly talented at either) and spend time with my family at the beach.

How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) physically I feel fine, just a lot of fatigue. I had about a week and a half of severe nausea but it seems to have passed. Anxiously awaiting the next scan in a couple days.

  • Introduce yourself: Hi, I’m Erin!

    Due date? 9/16/22

How did you find out? We were TTC. I had a positive OPK on Xmas eve :) I was trying to wait until missed period to take a pregnancy test, but I woke up at 4am 3 days before my period, so I took it as a sign. And it was positive :)

Tell us about yourself: I’m a married healthcare professional living in a major metro area in the Midwest. I like Yoga with Adriene, going for walks, and hanging with my hubby and our two kitties.

How are you feeling? gassy as a blimp. Ready for bed immediately after dinner. My first pregnancy ended in “missed miscarriage” in 2021 - so sad. So happy to be pregnant again but nervous for my 2/21 first ultrasound.

    GTKY Fun fact: Cheese forever.

  • My name is Kenzi ❤️ I am in my late 20s and from the Canadian prairies.

I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. (My husband is also pretty pumped and equally nervous!)

I believe I am due late September (30)

I love the outdoors, hiking, camping, and being in the sun 🌞 My husband is my best friend and has been such a great support while I'm feeling like total crap lately.

I felt awesome right after finding out and have since had gradually worsening morning (or all day) sickness. Food looks gross and coffee smells horrible (I know... so sad). And I am SOOOO tired. Yesterday I felt like I blinked and fell asleep at supper.

GRKY food: Air pop popcorn with all the butter 🍿

Introduce yourself: Hi! I’m Karina. I am 31, recently married in October to my much better half!

Due date? Sept. 23 but not yet confirmed

How did you find out? Many pregnancy tests followed by an HCG blood test

Tell us about yourself: I am happily married to my best friend since October but we have been together for 5 years now. He proposed last January on our annual snowboarding trip and we got married this October near Breckenridge, CO, very small backpacking elopement! We have 2 fur babies, an 11yo Husky and 1.5 yo Lab. I work as a critical care nurse in ED/ICU but am working on a Masters in Disaster Medicine. This is our first pregnancy and we are so excited!!

How are you feeling? Our first US isn’t until Valentine’s Day and we are counting it down! This past week especially, very nauseous, no vomiting. A lot of food aversions, the only thing I can tolerate swallowing are smoothies so it definitely could be worse! And just overall exhausted. I wake up from a full night sleep, do something for a few hours then need to nap again. Mentally, so worried our babe is developing healthy, hoping for he/she to be strong and healthy. Otherwise so pumped!

GTKY Fun fact: One thing to eat forever, probably Poke Bowls!!

  • @knottie937aa1c16cd146a3 welcome and congratulations! We are also due late September (27th unofficially) and if this baby is a girl her name will be Karina! I hope everything goes healthfully for you and your little one.
  • @komamommy I'm in Norway so there's a good chance we're in the same time zone or a least close to it! Thankfully the midwife in my town lived and worked in the UK for many years so she speaks good English. With my last pregnancy, the midwife at the hospital was Danish and spoke some English....that was tricky. She mostly just talked to my husband who is Norwegian and could understand her Danish 😅
