@rachstar18 my inductions took forever so I don't think i'm in that club, but I was # 4 for my mom and she almost had me in the car. My dad was speeding on the shoulder to go around traffic trying to get to the hospital and of course got pulled over. The cop heard my mom screaming that she needed to push, and hopped back in his car to provide a police escort to the hospital. All with my older brother in the backseat (he was 2). My mom almost had the baby while my dad was in the waiting room waiting for my aunt to come take my brother. He just made it.

Sooo...do you live close to the hospital??

ETA and by "the baby" I guess I meant me lol

  • @zande2016 I was also almost a car baby.  My Mom drove herself to hospital, ran out gas with my brother almost 3 in back seat and tried walking to gas station.  She then refused to go to L&D until she got a sandwich but my Dad who had arrived talked her into it.  I was born within 15 minutes of her getting upstairs.

@rachstar18 I was in May ‘16! 👋 And very impressed with your memory, that feels so long ago!

ETA: Okay I just stalked your history a little bit and we totally know each other from May ‘16 Facebook group. 😂 Not sure how to convey this without identifying information... I have two little girls, S+A, and live in Oregon.
  • @Pascal86 YES I thought that was you!! So exciting to be in a group with you again! I left the big group after all the drama happened recently. But I’ll add you on fb 😊

@zande2016 I feel good about the fact that it’ll be summer and the school traffic won’t be a thing. I live like 10/15 minutes from the hospital. I was soooo lucky that the last baby came at night. I got to the hospital at 8:30, ran in between contractions and baby was born at 8:50. It was interesting.

@Pascal86 I guess I have a track record popping them out. But this is definitely the last so hopefully no twins 😬

@busymom247 do a lot of your own research as well! Even if you have a provider itching to induce you right after you turn 40 weeks you can still say no. But make sure you’re finding reputable scientific articles. Sounds like if you’re a good candidate Maybe try to get in with the midwives again(sorry if you mentioned something about this, I tried to read the entire thread but may have missed something!)
I work in a high risk labor and delivery unit and our midwives are also more lenient on induction times but with increased in clinic monitoring near the end! (My two cents, if you care, otherwise ignore haha, From what I’ve worked with personally, and from what our docs do for themselves, 41 weeks is cutting it close for your placenta to adequately be able to oxygenate baby really well through the entire stressful labor time. But I’ve seen horrible 39 week placentas and beautiful ones at 41w 3d. But most importantly work with your provider, and do what YOU feel is best for yourself and babe(after lots of research of course 🙈)
I am in with midwives again! I was pushing to go a tad past 10 days overdue if needed and they were okay with it. Luckily I had baby 1 at 41 weeks :-) I am educated on all of that but thanks! It is important to know and I tell others

I will not know my EDD with this baby until my first appointment which is December 20.  My original post was just asking what people thought they might do with 4 day difference. There is no discussion until that appt. I can't do a thing so I asked people's opinions. I hope to keep my due date based on LMP which will give me 4 extra days, if that makes sense?
  •  I was hoping to get a massage next month With a gift card I got. Does it *have* to be a prenatal? They barely massage when you’re on your side and I like them so much better when they are regular ones lying flat and I didn’t know if it was early enough that it’s ok to be on your stomach or if I needed to be on my side.

    DD: 10.13.18
    baby #2 due: 7.14.20

  • @sunnyknightsarah there’s no reason you can’t lie on your stomach this early and the only adjustment for prenatal is it’s gentler and avoid certain pressure points. Some spas won’t see you during 1st trimester though so just be aware of that. It’s just a liability thing, there’s no evidence that massage is dangerous in any stage of pregnancy. I actually got a massage the day after I found out this time. It was already booked before I knew so I just went with it and didn’t mention my pregnancy (they didn’t ask).
  • @mrsdrez I had planned on getting my flu shot at my OB visit, but they're out and can't get anymore, so I'm off to Walgreens, or somewhere.

@rachstar18 with #2 my ob had me check into the hospital because I'd been at 8 minute contractions for over a day. She broke my water and dd was there 30 min later. I can't imagine making it to the hospital if my water breaks on its own this time. I already told DH we are taking an ambulance if it does. I'm not risking delivering in the car on the drive to the hospital. Lol

  • @sunnyknightsarah I got a massage a couple days after I found out as well. Didn’t tell them I was pregnant either. Gonna probably look into a chiropractor for later in pregnancy instead of massages (even though I DEARLY love massages.)
  • @treeofcheem I’m so torn...
On one hand I’m like “holy crap! What an amazing story & experience for all involved!”
On the other hand, I can’t help but think about all the goo... (once my dog got poisoned by a bad batch of dog food and exploded on our LR rug middle of the night. We took one look at that shizz, rolled it up, and didn’t look back).
Glad it turned out well though! :)
  • @zande2016 @nursejenn5 thanks! I was thinking along the same lines. And since Christmas and New Years is keeping life busy for the next few weeks, I will probably get one at the beginning of second trimester!

And I def recommend the chiropractor! I have been seeing mine once a month for 4 years and it was so helpful during my first pregnancy!

  • @sunnyknightsarah I definitely have to start back up with the chiropractor. I had sciatica last pregnancy and it already started again at only 7 weeks. My chiropractor is a pregnant mama guru, she actually only sees pregnant women so I’m excited I can go see her again now that I’m knocked up again
  • @pretzellover that's right where my head went too :D like, how does your carpet/rug recover from that.... it doesn't. You just get new lol
  • @treeofcheem wow! You are amazing! I have a coworker who had to deliver his and his wife's second baby in their upstairs bathroom while on the phone with paramedics. When he came back to work, he looked... shell-shocked lol.
  • @treeofcheem that’s amazing. I’m honestly just going to research home births as much as possible that way I’m prepared. My contractions were consistently 5 minutes all day but out of nowhere went to 2 minutes. With the last 2 babies, I was 4cm a full month before which made it faster. Baby 3 I actually went to l/d the night before I gave birth and they sent me home.

  • @treeofcheem wow! You are awesome!

I have a friend who caught her second on her own. Her husband was out of town headed her way and her midwife was on the way as well but I wonder if the same thing happened because she kept telling me I’ve been having on and off contractions all day but they weren’t close enough. She didn’t want to bother her midwife so she just waited and then all the sudden they came on strong and as soon  as he was born in walks her husband and midwife. I can’t imagine!

@rachstar18 I am currently on it. It’s helped and worked really well with my second but this time it’s mostly just taking the edge off and today I feel like it’s not helping but most of my issue is reflux disease so I can’t tell if that’s what’s going on or if it’s morning sickness. Again, it worked really well last time!

  • @rachstar18 My OB just prescribed it for my severe nausea (I’m picking it up later today). When I told him I have hemorrhoids, he said “coffee is highly underrated!” (damn straight sir!), but I haven’t been able to drink it lately due to the nausea/reflux ➡️ he prescribed me the Meds. FX it works.

@treeofcheem what an amazing story! You rock!

@pretzellover gotta love a coffee prescription 😂. Last pregnancy I never wanted it but this one I still do! Thank god, because it’s so much harder now that I have to keep up with a toddler this time around!
  • @rachstar18 re: diclegis. I swear by the stuff. I took them through to the end of my last pregnancy.. If I skipped a day I would vom (even at 8 months pregnant). I didn't start taking them until after the first tri because I thought you were just supposed to feel nauseous. My OB recommended them and I said write me the prescription and  I'll decide if I want to take them. I had to pull over to puke on my way home from the appointment and drove right to the pharmacy and started taking those babies religiously. Made a huge difference for me.

@rachstar18 I'm taking Unisom at night and it helped with this LO and when I was pg with DD

also, Sea Bands. They don't work for everyone but they've been a straight up game changer for me. I wish I had tried one on sooner.
  • @blaf322 so glad the sea bands are still helping! Same here. They are taking the edge off of bad days when the diclegis isn’t holding it all back. I was really surprised they work so well!

  • @rachstar18 I'm also on diclegis. I honestly feel like it's helping more this time than my first pregnancy, not sure why or whether the nausea is just different this time. I can actually eat. Fair warning though that it's basically time-released unisom so you are basically in a cloud and feel exhausted all day (but you're probably exhausted anyway!). Also fair warning to wean yourself off it or you may get headaches. I remember last time I broke the pills in half when I felt well enough to stop taking it (around 14 weeks I think), so I could taper the dose.
  • @blaf322 @meanjellybean I bought some sea bands coming today. It’ll give them through the weekend and if that doesn’t help, I’ll call my dr.

  • @rachstar18 good luck! I hope they work! I put mine on the night it arrived and was feeling better the next morning. Not to say I haven't had bad days since, but far fewer and the severity was less.
  • @laurad75 have you checked out the approved med list I posted? Not sure what all is on there, but maybe there are some other options?
I can tell you, all day long, what to do about toddler constipation but I have no clue when it comes to adults lol
  • @pretzellover Oh my goodness, the goo. You have no idea. My husband wasn't thrown off by delivering his own baby so much as the amount of cleaning that needed to happen afterwards. She was born in the bedroom, then I waited in the bathroom to deliver the placenta, then they walked me down our hallway into the entryway/living room to get outside onto a gurney to the ambulance - so the destruction was widespread. Luckily everything was tile except the bedroom. But MH got some questioning looks when he stopped by the drugstore to pick up a wide variety of cleaning supplies and gloves and asked what was good for getting out bloodstains!

@blaf322 Good to know the SeaBands might help! I was thinking of getting some but wasn't sure. Can't hurt, though.

@laurad75 Try adding fats and non-soluble fiber (think veggies not fruits) if you can - avocados are great, or adding some olive oil or coconut oil to things you're eating. I also really appreciate flax seed. You don't need much, and you can sprinkle it onto something like oatmeal or yogurt or a smoothie. Those are my go-tos for anyone in the family that needs some extra help.

  • @treeofcheem 1- they made you walk to the gurney?! They definitely should have come to get you! and 2- "the destruction was widespread" :D dead
  • @blaf322 Thanks.  I have tried metamucil and colace (not milk of magnesia).  I was hoping someone had a brilliant uncommon trick or something.

  • @laurad75 Have you tried a probiotic? I take the Pink Stork probiotic and it works like clockwork. I previously never took any probiotics, but thought to try it with this 3rd pregnancy and it’s been such a relief.

Sennakot and colace work well together.  Lots of fluids.  Probiotics.  Prunes or prune juice if you can stomach it.  Pears or pear nectar.  Eat canned pears and drink the juice, too.  Someone once told me to drink jello juice- like mix it according to direction but drink it before it firms up.

  • @laurad75 what works for me like a charm IF I stick to it daily: coffee + steel cut oatmeal with a few almond slivers, raisins and any other fresh fruit. And water.
Last preggo I tried ALL the fiber supplements And nada ... but this simple breakfast diet does it like clockwork.
  • @MrsTiger123 and @laurad75 do not take senna or Senokot. They are both stimulant laxatives and a pregnancy category C.

Senna is on the list of treatments for constipation my OB gave me, but obviously do what you and your doctor are comfortable with.
