My results came back this week, and the baby was negative for the 3 chromosome errors they test for. Also found out it's a girl! 😳 So I guess I will have one of each! I told the office to email me the results so I could send them to my sister and she could get a cake for us to find out what we're having. But they sent it through the portal, and when I logged in to take a screenshot and send it to my sister I saw what we were having anyway. so it kinda ruined the surprise. Then to top it all off my husband picked up the cake for us and they accidentally confirmed the flavor. 🤦♀️ So he knew too before we cut the cake. Ah well.
Thank you @dunder_mifflin! It was kinda funny, I wanted us to find out together as a surprise, but it just didn't work out. Then my mom was mad that I didn't tell her early apparently! 🤦♀️
Had our gender reveal party on Saturday and to my TOTAL SURPRISE, we are having another healthy baby boy. I was, along with everyone else, convinced that we were having a girl!
"Negative" for the conditions tested for. Yay!! And we are having a girl. Was and am still a bit shocked as just assumed we'd have another boy, but thrilled!
As an aside: really don't like Maternit21 and the way they report results. Maybe I'm just too much of a control freak, but I like to know the numbers so that I can get some sense of the risks involved. I think I had Harmony the last time and it felt waaay more reassuring to read 1 in 130,000 risk (or whatever it was).
@abbyanneheird congratulations on having a boy!! @Madamemerle so glad you got them! I was happy with harmony, I liked the “less than 1/10,000 report” @kagesstarshroom awesome! Remind me, are you team green?
Hahaha @kagesstarshroom fair enough! Though I will say if you begin to crack under questions a good way to deal with it is to spill to anonymous people online lol!
Thrilled to announced that our NT and NIPT was all clear *cue angels singing HALLELUJAH*! We even added the extra testing for microdeletions, and everything looks good!
Our sex reveal story is pretty funny: We were visiting my family in Colorado, so I decided to have my genetic counselor tell my sister the sex, then have DS do a little cake smash. It was like 10 minutes into the cake smash and DS still hadn't gotten to the colored frosting that was inside the white cake LOL. He was just picking at the outside and was about to be over the whole thing and want to get down (he's 1.5 yr old), so I stuck a plastic knife into the middle of it in the hopes of helping him along. I was assuming that wouldn't work either, but low and behold he yanked that plastic knife right out to reveal bright PINK frosting! We got my reaction on video and it's PRICELESS.
DS loved all of the attention, but was definitely confused when we all gasped and made a big fuss at the end LOL.
We're thrilled that the tests are indicating a healthy baby, and excited (albeit shocked!) to be having a baby girl!
Results came in today, really fast once the blood draw went to the right place. Everything tested looks great and we are having a girl so will be g-b-g!!!
So I had my blood drawn last Tuesday and had been tracking it obsessively since. Ours is through Myriad and has been stuck on “clinical review” since at least Sunday. Today I finally called hoping to get an estimate on when they would be ready and they said oh your tests have been done since the 15th and released to your doctor. But your doctor needs to go over the results with you before we’ll release them on your portal. AUUUGH. Like what has my OB office been doing sitting on these results for 4 days? So I immediately went to call my doctor but it was 4:30 I the nose....I could practically *hear* the answering message click over to “we are now closed.” I’m so frustrated. I just want to know! Will be that jerk first thing tomorrow morning when the office opens...
@Malidocious YES I called and they were like oh sure we’ll go ahead and release them. Like, whyyyyy were you hanging on to them?? Shouldn’t complain, I got them back and baby is low risk for everything so YAY! And yes, @EmilyLove25 being the early caller paid off. Hopefully they don’t write down that I’m an annoying patient in my file somewhere 🙈
My sister is prepping our small gender reveal now and we’ll do it tomorrow! Which is good because I don’t think I have the self control to not look at it myself for any longer than that. I’ve said before but I feel very strongly it’s a girl....we’ll see!
Update: We had our 16 week U/S today, and it went perfectly.
All measurements were on track and they were able to get great shots of all the
major anatomy. Confirmed he is in fact a boy. Overall, he’s measuring at 16w4. so a few days ahead. The high risk doctor said he looked like a perfectly healthy baby. No
additional testing needed other than the echo at 20 weeks just to be cautious
and ensure the heart continues to look good.
Update: had my 16 week appt today and brought the bill with me. They are going to resubmit the claim with a different code. The original bill I got was for $797.01. Can you say STROKE? I was expecting about $200 or so because that’s what the doctor told me to expect if insurance didn’t cover it. Fingers crossed they can get it down for me!
@abbyanneheird I recommend talking directly with the testing company. The Quest website has a ton of information regarding insurance coverage, pricing without insurance, and pricing if insurance denies coverage. For instance, one of their documents states that "Insured patients, whose plan
denied QNatal Advanced as a
non-covered service, should
not pay more than $300." and "We offer an uninsured patient
price (UPP) for the majority
of states of $395 for qualified
patients whose physicians
are enrolled in Quest’s
UPP program". Check out this document.
@abbyanneheird I second what @stassischroeder about talking directly to the testing company. I got tests done through Myriad/Counsyl that my insurance wasn't going to cover, and it was going to be about that same astronomically high price. I talked to the company directly and they said I qualified for assistance, so they ended up paying for the entire thing. I didn't have to pay a dime! Call 'em!
My doctor called them for me because they were told the same thing from their NIPT rep (shouldn’t be more than $300 without insurance coverage). They spoke with the rep today and the rep is looking into it. For now, I’m holding off and not paying on the bill!
Quick update-- we had our 20 week ultrasound today with the echo. The doctor was confident everything looks "perfect" and there are no heart abnormalities. We are so relieved and excited.

I also got billed an insane amount - $690.
But I think it is just par for the course with my high deductible plan?! I'm guessing it would have actually been cheaper to not run it through insurance. In any case we've reached the deductible now, thank God. But unfortunately, we have to switch insurance in January and start over, eugh.

Update to my NIPT result: had my NT scan this week, and had a "normal" 2.1 measurement
Waiting for the bloodwork, but I'm feeling fairly good with the good NIPT results and the NT scan.
Baby measured right on the edge of OK CRL for NT at 13w6 (I was 13w2).
At any rate, I'd talk directly with them.
