I took my pic today too. I'm out of town all next week for work and didn't know when I'd have a chance to do it. Speaking of, I'm going on a super last minute work trip and I'm actually excited about it. It is for a conference and I'm really looking forward to zoning out and just sitting in classrooms all day. Plus the hotel is super nice, so I might even play hooky for some spa time.
Unless the person(s) associated with this account is fixing the “New Discussion” button, why is s/he in our PG? I'm leery of anyone who calls themselves a supreme overlord. Creepy...
I see a dog park on the way to work every morning. Today most of the dogs were all hanging out by their owners, jumping and looking excited. And then I saw a doggo sitting all by him/herself in the middle of the park. Prolly has a case of the Mondays. 😂
@RedBreast35 That’s so random lol. Through the type of work my company does I’ve learned there is an actual high level job called “road master”. Since then I have stopped being surprised by titles lol
@RedBreast35 I have a call with my team tomorrow and I am totally going to tell them that "Supreme Overlord" is what they must refer to me as from now on. Muahhahahahah

Can I ask a silly question. for the PG, does the pineapple have to be a fresh from the store pineapple, or if we have a pineapple statue/stuffed animal/can of pineapples/cut up pineapple would that work too? (DH does all the food shopping because I hate it so I'm trying to avoid the, WTF do I have to buy this giant pineapple that you won't cut up and I'll end up throwing away conversation )
@MsBeachNJ honestly, I am cool with any kind of Pineapple. If I hadn't bought one, I was going to print a picture off the internet lol. I think as long as you're holding something Pineapple related, it'll be unique enough to rule you out as any sort of catfish.

Last week an older coworker called in sick to work. He’s a
little over a month away from retirement. When he called he sounded very
disoriented and was slurring his speech. The front office lady called him back
to make sure he was ok and he still had very slurred speech an hour later. There
were talks about sending the police to his place to do a welfare check (he
lives alone). I’m not sure if it ever happened or not. The next day he came
into work but couldn’t remember his password. Couldn’t get into his computer to
do anything. He was super confused and still slurring. So he went home. The
next day, the same thing only this time my supervisor sent him home. It’s now
been almost a week since this noticeable change. He keeps refusing to go to the
doctor. He’s been here all day and cannot understand simple directions. My
supervisor just had to take his keys away… I’m not sure what’s going to happen
next. We’re all pretty sure he had a stroke and are pretty worried about him.
But what can we do if he’s refusing to get help?!

There's a maternity clothes thread somewhere but I'm too lazy to find it... sorry guys. Anyway, I have this jumpsuit in black. It's not the cutest, but it's the single comfiest thing I've ever put on my body and I wear it at least once a week. Just sharing because I'm obsessed and it's on clearance right now - I of course just bought the rose color too
@lillywonderland ha! I'm pretty sure my 3 year old does... we win all kinds of odd stuffed animals from the boardwalk (we live so close we go all the time!) so if I can find it, I will certainly use that!
My kindergartener just came home from move up day, and her First Grade teacher references her students as ‘her pineapples’! She came home with a folder full of pineapple things!
@LJMoon6 that's so scary. Whoever is closest to him, tell him they're driving him to the hospital. (My coworker had to do that for me last year when I was having neuro symptoms before I knew I had MS. Say something like: "We're going now. Come on. Come with me. This is important and we're going now.") Whoever goes, just stay with him. He'll respond better to one person telling him to do this than everyone "ganging up on him" (maybe?) Say things like "Let's go find out what it is. It could be nothing. We're going now." Good luck! Sounds like a TIA (mini stroke), probably on the left side of his brain (Wernicke's area, controls speech and auditory comprehension). At the hospital tell them "slurred speech, trouble understanding speech." They will do a CT or MRI and if they don't, ask them why not. He could get much much worse left untreated depending on what the cause of the damage is. He should 100% go to the hospital. Good luck I hope he is ok!
@LJMoon6 could you call the local PD / 911 and have them send an EMT to your workplace to check him out, so he doesn’t go home without being evaluated?
@LJMoon6 Crikey, that’s some scary stuff. Agree with pp, try to see if you can get HR involved or a PD/FD/EMT response if he won’t/can’t to go the hospital with anyone.
@MsBeachNJ 😂 I’m ded. I can’t wait to see your pic!!
I think they may have already tried contacting his emergency
contact person because the day this all started they sent out an email to
everyone to verify/update their emergency contact people. I think they either
can’t get a hold of his or it’s no longer current (or maybe whoever his is
knows how stubborn he is and knows there’s no point trying to argue with him).
The worst part is that there’s an emergency room only 2 blocks away right on
campus. But he is flat out refusing to go. People have offered to walk him over
there. He said if our supervisor tells him to go then he is going to walk out.
I think he almost wants this to be the end. He made the comment to one of the
guys that he feels like he's spiraling down… It’s just so sad. He’s not very old,
barely 65. I think my supervisor is looking into what he can legally do and will do something tomorrow.
Because he clearly can’t let him keep working.
@phillyftm It definitely has affected his speak and auditory
comprehension and memory. I think you’re right.
@kiddiesandkitties I have a feeling if we call 911 he would just
refuse help from them, get mad, and walk out. We have a staff member who is
first responder certified that will hopefully be in tomorrow. Maybe he can talk
some sense into him…

@LJMoon6 poor man. You are all doing the right thing. Sorry if my responses seem bossy / pushy. My coworkers last year confronted me two at a time (I was acting different / I was super freaked out because I had had a stroke-like event in my car/ had obviously been crying). I was like "I'll just go home and rest." I went to drive myself home and another (different) coworker just took charge ("It's probably nothing. We're going right now. This is important. Let's go. Get in my car right now.") She was also incredible at the hospital and remembered all the symptoms that I was too freaked out to remember to tell the triaging nurse. Sorry you're all dealing with this tough situation. Exhaust every option and keep trying! It's crazy because I'm in a medical profession (I'm an SLP), and how I behaved "as a patient" did not match the rational/ medical knowledge part of my brain. Thinking about you guys and hope it works out.
@LJMoon6 oh my goodness that is all so sad! It's really hard when they are stubborn, but it can do so much more harm sometimes. I hope he gets checked out soon.

@phillyftm No you’re not being bossy or pushy at all. It’s
good to hear your side of a similar situation (sorry you had to go through
that. I hope you’re doing well now, as much as you can be). I really wish I
could be that bossy with him and basically force him to go. I’m not that close
with him tho so I don’t think he would listen to anything I had to say. And everyone
is so non-confrontational here. So whenever someone mentions going to the
doctor and he says no, they drop the subject right away.
I guess the day before he called in sick, him and another
coworker were doing some heavy lifting. In the middle of it he got
overwhelmingly exhausted. The other coworker said he looked like he was going
to collapse. At some point that same day, not sure if it was before or after
the heavy lifting, he was complaining of some pain in his leg. It’s just so
crazy how many signs there were that he had a stroke.

@LJMoon6 what a stressful and scary situation, I hope he does get some help. When I was much younger I had a couple experiences with family members who wouldn't accept help/actively repudiated it when something was clearly very wrong, and it can be very hard to force someone to get medical help against their will; I've never figured out how I'd handle encountering a similar situation as an adult. It sounds like your supervisor and the rest of you are coping as best you can, and I hope someone or something can get through to him and he gets the care he needs.
@phillyftm that sounds terrifying, but I'm glad you had someone who took initiative to get you to the hospital and who could help you while there as well. And I hope you've been feeling OK lately - I remember you posted about a flare up a while ago.
@LJMoon6 Yes getting someone the help they need is easier said than done. Poor guy! Sounds like a blood clot traveled up to his brain if he was doing some lifting at the gym. Prognosis would be pretty good if he went to the hosp right away last week (and still could be) agh!! Such a stressful situation. You all are doing the right thing. I felt inclined to share because I can relate to his obstinance / denial that something "big" might be wrong.
@ternsetc feeling much better finally, having to accept some new symptoms after the flare in March but it's manageable and I'm back at work / functioning much better overall : )
Sidebar I've been taking it wayyyy easy at home just waiting to "feel better" (and also, pregnancy sympathy). MH asked last Tuesday night after he cut the lawn: "sooo do you think we should have someone come in and help us clean once or twice a month until you're 'better' ?" I hadn't even realized but I kind of fell into a rut using my new (not severe) symptoms as an excuse to avoid cleaning. 😂 I reacquainted myself with the broom and the toilet brush that night.
@phillyftm I would have very quickly acquainted myself with a resounding 'YES!' if presented the way your H did, versus reacquainting with my cleaning products!!

When he got into work the next day, he had a stern talk with his supervisor (who he will be replacing soon) that they should have taken better care of this guy rather than brushed him off and they need to have more care and concern for their employees, and he was like “Ehhhh it could have been anyone! @sunshine2417 that is terribly sad! I'm sure your husband feels such guilt even though he was trying to do the right thing... his boss sounds like a real piece of work!
@sunshine2417 Yikes. That is horrible, and I'm so sorry for your DH. It sounds like his manager definitely deserves to be replaced! That work culture of "pull your self up by the boot straps" can be so toxic.
