Someone on my last bmb had a mix up too. The doc had a pre printed form and on left it says boy and the right says girl and they circle one. The baker just saw the boy on the left and not the circled girl on the right. So after the reveal celebration she looks and sees it's actually a girl.
Someone in my A16 board was told they were having a girl at their ultrasound. When the baby was born, surprise! He was actually a boy. They had a pink car seat and everything. Our entire board was like whoa!! For a FTM she handled it so so well. I know I wouldn’t have as I was a FTM at that time too and we were still pregnant with DD for another few weeks. I started thinking, oh gosh we have all these girl clothes, I hope they didn’t tell us wrong too!

Somone in my A15 board was told for most of their pregnancy that they were having a girl and it was a boy. She found out a couple weeks before he was born. She was a champ about it though.
With DD I had an ultrasound at 18 weeks and they said baby “definitely looked like a boy.” 3 weeks later at my anatomy scan, we got confirmation that she was a girl. I don’t trust anything before 20 weeks anymore and only if the ultrasound is able to get a really clear shot. Sometimes I think tech’s only get a glimpse and make an educated guess.
With DS2 I waited until the 20 week ultrasound to find out. She put the gel on and started rubbing it around my belly with the wand. When she scanned over the genitals it was very clear to both DH and I that we were having a boy. We both looked at each other with big eyes.
@whitney812 Haha yeah I think it is bizarre that she is the only one who
sends a list. It would make a lot more sense if you all were doing
lists and this was part of the lists everyone was sending around. I
agree--go off list! I like lists as guides, but definitely not with such
presumption as "You will all buy me something and here's the list of
pre-approved gift ideas."
The sex mix ups are so crazy to me! I don’t know how I’d handle it. All I know is that I better not have male chromosomes floating around in my blood for some odd reason if this isn’t really a boy 😂
My parents were told I was a boy, and they didn’t find out otherwise until I was born. There were a couple of older ladies who still have my mom girl stuff because they were convinced otherwise, haha, so I had a pink blanket and maybe a couple of outfits.
I just assumed that that barely happens anymore, though because I haven’t heard of anyone it’s happened to. I guess I’ll have the tech double check at any ultrasound I get.
I think having a sex mix up would be better than a girl who I worked with who was a twin... except her parents didnt know they were having twins since it wasnt determined before she was in labor. In fact i think it may have been a surprise even to the doc expecting after birth and getting baby 2.... identical twin girls.
