  • I woke up late today and it's picture day at work so scrambled to look put together and then my son threw a fit and was crying hard about going to school.  He's sad because his fav teacher left and was clinging to me and crying and I had to just leave.  I hate it.
  • I swear I cleaned my house all day yesterday and today it is still a mess. 🤔 how does that even work?
  • Like @dntstpbelieveing I am part of the antivan movement. I think it's partly because growing up there were certain people who had vans and for some reason those just happened to be kids whose mom's were mean and I didn't much like the kids either. Ha So maybe I was scarred from a young age.
Right now, we own a Subaru Outback and I love love love it. It's great for our dogs, it's all decked out with our bike racks and roof box and I've driven it all over America. I think it will be great with kiddos. It's obviously not an SUV, but it's more of a crossover type car. I doubt we would decide to get a new car anyways. We live in the city and my husband commutes on a bike. Daycare is up the street from us, so we'll walk there.

@jhems776 it's funny you say you did it for your NT scan. When I went in for my very first OB appt, I hadn't shaved my legs in awhile and the OB was being so nice and rubbing my shin, but it just made me feel so bad for her because all I could think about was her having to rub the hair. Eww haha I wanted to apologize.
  • I’m glad I’m not the only one putting off shaving except for appointments. I don’t know if I’m getting a physical exam or not at my 12 week appointment, but I’m going to shave my legs anyway before then just to Ben safe.
  • I had my NT scan yesterday. The sonographer was running 30 minutes late and did it very rushed. Didn't even talk except that baby looks good. Once IIhavent gotten back the results I didn't want to post in the results threat, but  peeked at the NT measurement and it was 1.70.

Only thing was that LOs HR is a bit high at around 180. (13 weeks) but it was bouncing and kicking all around. So totally normal. Regardless, Dr. Google has me worried.

  • @amaren-2 Don't know if this makes you feel better, but for a baby at 13 weeks, it says a normal NT measurement is anything below 2.8 mm (https://www.babycenter.ca/a544491/nuchal-translucency-nt-ultrasound). So 1.7 mm is well below that, which would suggest low risk. Also, there are other things they take into account like HCG and PAPP-A to generate risk. There are at least Google searches that suggest you shouldn't be too worried. Can you call your doctor's office and discuss the results with them?
  • @catmommac we moved at the beginning of the year from our first home and I bawled. Mostly from all the memories of bringing our daughter home their and all the memories like first steps 😭 oh god I’m tearing up. Hormones engaged.

I have been SO busy at work, haven’t been able to contribute much but have tried to stay in the loop. I have 500 boxes of caramels and 300 jars of caramel sauce to have done by Friday and I’m only half way done 😳. Being a one woman show during first tri is NO JOKE. Pray for me guys 😂

  • @luckystar28 did you see the chart on women's ideal penis size? I really enjoyed that she pulled this "scientific" finding from penissizedebate.com :joy: She has to be trolling, that's not natural crazy

I get to take the 1 hour glucose test today 10+5 - is it at least cold? Is bringing my own shaker full of ice frowned upon? lol

edited because I accidentally wrote 11+5 and I need all those weeks 😉
  • @kissmeimscottish Someone always sang Mary Did You Know af the Christmas Eve service at the church I went to growing up, gets me every time!!

  • @pigglesworth I always brought my own straw because it makes it go down easier!
  • Now I’m gonna spend my lunch break reading that thread cause I haven’t even opened the sex thread 😬 I’m “nurse sitting” I guess at work right now, which is fine with me and my sciatica. We have so many sitter patients and no sitters. So I have 2 pts and I’m sitting in the annex between the rooms all day, scrolling TB haha
  • My first BMB was literally the wild wild west. It was eat or be eaten. You had to be on guard at all times. That was before the great exodus though.
  • @emeraldcity603 Wow! That’s nuts. I’m content with our level of Wild right now ha
  • We just bought a roomba on a Black Friday special and last night I set it to run while we went to bed. It was kind of magical to wake up to clean, dog hair free floors this morning. I loved it.

We aren't team van yet since this is only baby #2. But I plan on being all about the mini van when #3 comes. I would probably be pushing harder for a van this time if we hadn't just bought a new house. Oh well.

Re: shaving. Being on pelvic rest has made me so lazy in that area. No one knows but me.
  • So I've heard rumors of the mass exodus,  but have no idea what really went down. Anyone have background?
  • @harrierwife I would just tell her if she's so concerned about it, she can clean it herself. My MIL is super nice, but she is a very very very clean person. She cleans obsessively. When she comes to visit, I welcome her to keep my kitchen at a level that is comfortable for her. She's much better at emptying our dishwasher than either me or my husband.
  • I was on the bump before during and after the great exodus. Before the exodus was fun but you definitely got your ass handed to you from time to time. I was a FTM back then and made more than a few faux pas and believe me this group has be gentle compared to the roastings I got

The exodus was triggered (as far as I remember) by the Bump banning a bunch of really good and contributing members/admin, cracking down on rules (like telling someone to GTFO), warning everyone and their grandmother over the slightlest TOU violations and just a sudden and sharp change in atmosphere. It wasnt pretty. I followed my group to the new forum but it was not mobile friendly so I just gave up.
  • I was on TK before the exodus and kinda in limbo because we didn’t have kids yet. The stuff was so insane that went down on the boards. Even back in the day, early 2000’s even Tk had some good roastings, especially the wedding etiquette board. All you have to do is read up around 2014/15 at its peak crazy. I believe those bmbs are still around.

  • Actually @meatballs37 a lot of content got deleted because when everyone left they asked for all their content to be deleted. So you may see some posts that don't make any sense.

I know a lot of the moderators got booted and then the regs on the parenting board got banned. Tons of banning! Then the banned people came back with new accounts and taunted the Bumpadmin. They left a trail to the pro boards they used.

My bmb joined them and then we shortly went to FB. Then I joined a new BMB on that board. It was much slower and about 60 people tops joined the board.

THEN, something happened with Then Comes Family (the name of the new board) and the parenting regs jumped ship and invaded the Scary Mommy boards. They didn't get a warm welcome there and they got shoved off those boards pretty fast. After that, I said screw it, and just gave up trying to keep up where everyone is.

I can see that even though it has been years, TB hasn't fully recovered from the exodus. Every board used to be busy and had tons of participation. Now, when I lurk some of the other boards it's almost like I can actually hear the crickets.
  • My MIL passed away 3 years ago and I was thankful she stayed in her lane - never had any conflict with her. I feel bad for my DH cause my mom is a wackadoo.

  • @canuckbaby My mom is a wackadoo also. She has to be reminded that DH is my immediate family and not to try and push her way in the middle with nonsense. Love her, but she has an assortment of issues and DH had to really get used to how..umm...unique of a person she is

  • @eleven_ i am not sure saying she's raging crazy biotch would be more appropriate lol.

Shes literally the person you call and everything is sunshine and roses and the next call the world is ending and woe is me. She likes the drama and to be a martyr
