@brie_and_almonds Beatrice and Tennyson are both family names, actually. And using Tennyson as a girls name was the only way I could get DH to agree! 😂 I think I’m sold on Beatrice, though. ❤️
@mrskoz428 Oh I like Beatrice with the nickname Bea too! That’s super cute!
@Sarahbtek You have a lot of great names! I really like Holden. Also like Grayson, Griffin, Nolan and Cohen. For your girl names, I love Fallon, Gracelyn and Leighton!
@bpietronicco well, and I’m a 90s baby so I know nothing about it, so I don’t think too many other parents would either. Also, it’s not like we do initials for much.
Le sigh. Your indication that you're a 90s baby @mrskoz428 makes me feel so old 😖 Then again, you're a FTM and I'm on baby #3 😆 But I still feel old........🤦
@mrskoz428 I was born in '85 so I have no recollection of his actual activity, I've just seen true crime TV done about him because I'm also really intrigued by true crime, cold cases, and crime shows like Criminal Minds.
@missmcgonnagal That's awesome! I am almost done with my BSN (I'll be done on April 28th). After I was done with my BA I went to grad school and graduated with a MS in Human Services.....then I decided that I really wanted that be a nurse so back to school I went 😁
@missmcgonnagal that sounds so interesting! You and @MelissaMay82 are way ahead of me 😂 I just got my ADN. I plan on working on an online bridge program after I find a job I like. But I'm not exactly looking for a job at the moment so that may be a bit delayed. The hospital I want to work at most requires a BSN within 3 years of hire. So, I'll have to get one eventually.
@MelissaMay82 and @eatinwatermelonseeds I'm not that far into my BSN unfortunately. Just started so I won't finish until September 2020 (I'm taking summer semesters too). But from what I hear, most hospitals are going to require a BSN if not for hiring purposes then soon after.
@mrskoz428 and @imrachellea Talk about feeling old- I was in high school when @mrskoz was born. I The BTK killer was caught like 5-8 years ago which is the only reason I know about him. Well that and my true crime obsession. You will get it from the people who are true crime nerds like me, but probably not most people.
@chloe97 BTK was actually caught in 2005, so 13 years ago. That's the only reason I've heard of him because when I was in high school, I watched an expose on him just after he was caught.
ETA: @mrskoz428 I still don't think it's likely to come up much/ever in your LO's life.
@mrskoz428 I love Tennyson, so cute and fresh but not crazy trendy. Love the gender neutral part of it as well to limit bias before people even meet her haha. But it seems like you're sold on Beatrice which is an old name to me but probably because H's grandmother was a Beatrice and he wants to pass on the name to a girl of ours. I said fine to middle name but he won't allow just Bea. Anyway, I'm also a 90s baby and have no idea who the BTK killer is 🤷
@mrskoz428 I don't think the BTK killer had been talked about on Criminal Minds unless maybe in passing, like maybe when Spencer is going on with all he knows.
I've never heard of the BTK killer - I'm a late 80s baby, but also Canadian, so... but, I wanted to add that I feel like, even when people do use their initials, they rarely us middle names. DH just uses his first and last name. I have 3 letters because my last name is weird and has an article that I use as part of my initial. But neither of us use our middle name.
Then, again, I don't live in the land of monograms, so maybe I'm wrong?

I really never thought we'd be discussing serial killers on the name thread! FTR, I'm 34 and I'm familiar with the BTK killer, but I doubt it's something that would ever come up among our children's generation while they're young enough to tease someone about initials. Also, teasing about initials is not that likely in itself unless it's pretty egregious.
@mrskoz428 I think Beatrice and Tennyson are both beautiful names. I have a preference for Tennyson Beatrice because I like the combo of unexpected first name with classic middle. Tennyson does call to mind the poet (not a bad association), but like many "last as first" names sounds to me like it suits either a boy or girl. Agree with @brie_and_almonds she sounds "spunky", adventurous, maybe a bit rebellious. Beatrice is a very virtuous, feminine name. This name reminds me of Beatrice Portinari, who was a muse for Dante Alighieri (The Divine Comedy), and it makes me associate the name with traits traditionally praised in women, like gentleness and kindness. Like I said, I think they are both lovely; they just have different vibes.
@mrskoz428 I’m a late 80s baby, and while the BTK killer sounds familiar to me, it wasn’t the first thing I thought of. Coming from someone that gets a lot monogrammed, if you’re monogramming anything for a girl, the last name initial typically goes in the middle (f,l,m), so no worries there. 😉
For a boy, I started thinking about Hayes Robert. Hayes isn’t a family name, but Robert is after my father. Only one family name may be the best we can do this time around. I’m still not sold on it, but I can’t think of any boy names at all. Any thoughts?
So the only boy name my husband and I can agree on so far is “Henry”. Just curious of what kind of person comes to mind when you hear it. I worry it’s too “old man”. WHat do you all think? Thanks!
I love the “old man” names like Henry, Arthur and Otto. If you would have asked me a couple of years ago and I would have said no way. Haha. I know the cutest little Henry. He is about 4 now. In general these types of names are becoming more popular but I don’t think they will be so common that there will be multiple in the same class.

@willmisspumpkinbeer I definitely don't think of Henry as an old man name... DD1 a few Henrys around her age (5), so I don't think it'll be considered too out-there.
@willmisspumpkinbeer I love Henry! That was our boy name for DD, but unfortunately one of DHs good friends used the name and he didn’t want to use it. I know a bunch of Henrys-a13 year old kid in our neighborhood and s few babies. It’s popular these days so I don’t see it as an old mans name.
You can also search the SSA by state if you’re wondering how popular a name is/ where you are and how many there might be in your kid’s class as opposed to nationwide. Some name trends are really regional. I also just think it’s fun to compare.
@anonellis yes! I’ve eliminated names based on their popularity regionally! As a teacher, I had two Laeloni’s, two Ella’s, a Johnny and a Johnean last year and it was really hard! One teacher had an Alexis, Elexis, Alexa, Alex, and a Lex all in her room last year! I definitely keep this in mind when picking out names.
