@zande2016 Agh, I am so angry for you. I wish I could say just move everything into an account he doesn't have access to and give him an allowance, but that doesn't stop him from opening his own account and then not contributing to the household. I hope you can resolve this somehow.
@nimmle that's the thing, he knows I keep a really close eye on all credit/debit transactions, so the second he gets some cash from a random delivery or whatever (not a regular source of income for him, he just helps out sometimes with deliveries), he sees it as an opportunity to pocket it and be irresponsible. I mean if we were in a better financial situation and didn't have a baby coming any day it would be different, but he knows the deal and I just can't believe he wouldn't WANT to contribute every dollar he can to help out right now. That's what really hurts me. I can't exactly ask him every single day if he has any cash from tips and check his pockets on a daily basis so he just takes advantage of it.
@catftm2018 congrats!!!! And you stayed so positive! Such a trooper!
@kbernal2021 congrats!!! So so happy your H made it! What a story!
@zande2016 ugh I’m so sorry you’re going through all that stress. That’s a struggle I know too well. You shouldn’t have to be the only adult in the relationship and have to put all the work into budgeting and policing his spending
btw, it seems like this group needs to start adding new baby-related threads. Like...appointment check-ins or baby sleep threads, baby feeding threads, MOTN threads, etc. We don't have to end communication at birth! My baby isn't out yet so I feel odd starting these...but I'll contribute when I can.
@kbernal2021 so precious!! I'm so glad H made it and you had a positive birth! @catftm2018 you're my hero! Congratulations @MrsMiller8588 what a quick experience too!! @zande2016 your H really needs to get serious about money. I personally think it can put such a strain on a relationship. But at the same time it can be an easy fix if both people agreed to make small changes to make things better. He needs to understand that there will be a time when he can spend that money on himself but now that's not it. I also would love to spend money on fun stuff but all my paychecks are going to baby stuff and bills.
No news at my usual nst except fluids were at 20 today but I'm thinking maybe baby had just peed. Still within normal but this is the highest reading I got. Picking up my mom today and then tomorrow I'm going to start doing all the things to encourage this baby out!
Also we got a new AC unit and yay, it's amazing. Looks like we just got a lemon last time. But all is good now and we tested it last night so I'm feeling less stressed about the heat! Not quite like Colorado @wildtot, that sounds miserable!
Yay for AC @kissableviv I don’t know how anyone survives without it. My fluid was 21 last time and they barely mentioned it, didn’t seem like much of a concern, just something to keep an eye on.
Well my H started texting me telling me how he knows he’s selfish and it’s a problem and he needs to work on it. And how he isn’t happy with himself for his behavior. I’m just jaded because he’s always remorseful after crap like this but I just don’t want the crap like this to happen in the first place. I feel like I always have to have my guard up and just want to feel safe and protected instead of constantly defensive. I also had to leave the house and go work at Starbucks because every time my son saw me he’d have a meltdown and I felt bad that the babysitter had to deal with that. And the MFM called me and said not to worry, my blood sugar is elevated but not at a point where he’s worried, so just keep increasing the insulin and seeing what happens, but “you should deliver soon.” What does that even mean? I see him Tuesday at 38+4 and I’m terrified he’s going to say “go get induced on Friday.” Still having that wanna run away feeling but trying to suppress it. I know I’m just scared and stressed and overwhelmed and my gut reaction is to want to escape. But I can’t hide from this. Ugh back to work.
+1 to adding baby threads. I can't participate yet but I'd like to follow along with how others are doing with their babies! @kissableviv yay for working A/C! @zande2016 I"m glad your MFM isn't concerned about your numbers! Maybe he means he thinks you might go into labor soon? I'm terrible at keeping up these days but so I can't remember, have you had any cervical checks yet? If he does suggest induction hopefully you can have a conversation about waiting a few more days past 39 weeks to hopefully go into labor spontaneously.

@Sarafuss on Tuesday I was at 1 cm and 80% effaced. I think they'll recheck at my appointment tomorrow, ideally I'd like to get myself to 3 cm before inducing to lower the changes of needing pitocin but who knows if that'll happen. I definitely will ask about waiting, it's just so frustrating how he keeps upping my insulin dosage and it seems to be making no difference. I guess we'll also see how he's measuring on the ultrasound as I'm sure that will play into it.
@zande2016 I think it's a good sign that you're already 80% effaced. I was reading that once you're fully effaced that dilation goes much more quickly and easily. Fingers crossed that you've made good progress since your last check!

I ordered a breast pump through Edgepark Medical months ago. I was notified that per my insurance I need to confirm my order on June 13 and will be getting an email asking me to confirm my order. I got that email, confirmed and got an email back right away saying "Congratulations, Thank you for submitting your breast pump order! Please allow 7 ‑ 10 days for order processing and shipping. "
12 days later I haven't received a shipping notification so I called them. Got told they just got the RX from my doc and it should go out in a couple days. A couple days later, today, I call again and I'm told it's pending with my insurance and that they called my insurance again today and that they're not being responsive and that I can call them to hopefully move things along.
I feel like I'm getting the run around.
What do I do?
I have really good insurance and I thought they had to pay for a pump?
Thank you everyone for all the warm wishes! I have not been able to keep up at all this week, but I am thinking of you all! I have a crazy MIL story to share once I have time to type it all out!

@runsomewhere I was in a similar situation and was able to get it resolved and received my breast pump within 3 days of calling my insurance company. Have you talked to them directly? If not, I would call them.

Ya'll want to talk about hot? It's over 100 here in Texas and my electric company came to the door yesterday with a letter. They have to replace a transformer on Tuesday so I'll be without power from 10 am to 11:30 (assuming all goes well). Yikes!!! I might be going to Starbucks to work!
@runsomewhere - Personally, I would just leave it up to the DME company and insurance company to work out. But I'm of the opinion that I have enough to stress over and my baby hasn't come yet. If handling it yourself would make you feel better, call your own insurance company about it and see if they can push it through. They do have to pay and I'm sure they will, it's likely just stuck in some queue waiting on someone to look at it and hit approve. Happens every day.
@zande2016 so sorry about the added stress you don't need now. I get the wanting to run away feeling myself, hoping starbucks was a nice change of scene and that you at least treated yourself to a drink or pastry.
I called my insurance company, they had no record of contact with the third party company (Edgepark Medical) I ordered my pump from. They gave me the name of the company they DO work with, called that company for me then called my OB's office to confirm everything. It looks like I should be able to get a pump.
What's weird is that Edgepark told me they were in contact "back and forth" with my insurance and that my insurance is a company they work with.
Another weird thing, when they said I should call my insurance company to get things moving along they said I'll have better luck and that insurance companies are often rude to them or hang up on them. That was a red flag.
Now I'm questioning if this Edgepark company is even legit. I found them through an ad on the Bump but I see that they have bad reviews. Ugh.
@runsomewhere that’s weird! I used edgepark this time and had no issues. As soon as we got to the date I was eligible they sent me a shipping confirmation and it arrived 2 days later. Glad you got it worked out though.
Spoke with my Director and we agreed there is no real reason for me to come in next week. It's going to be in the 90s in NYC and the idea of coming in for a day and a half before July 4th seemed silly and our boss is on vacation anyway. I start WFH next Monday!
@zande2016 I'm glad you had no issues. Also, that's a relief that they do provide the service they say they provide. I was starting to worry about who the F I gave all my info to!
@runsomewhere That's so strange! My insurance company directed me to Edgepark and I had no issues. Sorry they gave you a hard time FX the new company works out better for you!
I have probably done 1 hr worth of work today and it’s 2pm. I check my emails and chats to look busy. Probably the same story for tomorrow. Except tomorrow H is off and spending the day with DS (save up on the sitter). Secretly hoping he gets to experience the same challenges i do.
Baby has been having frequent bowel movements close to diarrhea and has some diaper rash. We are still hoping to go home this evening instead of tomorrow morning and the dr was not very concerned but wants us to keep an eye on it. I am ready to go home and not have the flux of interruptions and just get into some routine of normal not to mention sleep in my own bed!
@lindsayleigh1989 congrats to YOU! It is so nice to be home and in my bed. Although I'm still terrified of being home without all the support. Hopefully they will discharge you and baby tonight!

@runsomewhere I used edgepark during my first pregnancy- they wouldn’t even send the pump until my due date or they had verification that I had the baby. I’m surprised they’re sending it so soon! They told me my PIS would be covered, and then sent me a bill for $90 months later saying that it wasn’t covered in full. At that point I just paid it. I did get the pump, only a couple days after I had DS because he came a little early, but it was annoying. I would just stay on them, it sounds like they’re the ones not doing their job, you shouldn’t have to deal with the insurance companies.

@lindsayleigh1989 I was also going to ask about any intolerance baby might have. Are you eating/drinking any dairy or soy? Also, diaper rash could be from the diaper itself too. DS couldn't tolerate target brand diapers as a newborn so we did Pampers swaddlers and his rash cleared up...though I think most hospitals use Pampers anyway. Hope baby's tummy settles soon so you can go home!!
regarding pumps and insurance. My old insurance didn’t cover a free pump because they were grandfathered in to some pre Obamacare plan (also didn’t cover no cost wellness/preventative care). Pumps were covered like any other medical equipment. They covered 80% of the cost up to $500 after you met your deductible (70% for out of network). I got a pump through them before my last day of coverage and ended up going out of network (amazon) because all of the companies that were in network were terrible to work with. I ended up paying like $73.
With my new insurance, they cover a free pump and I went through Aeroflow and they did everything and I got my pump in a few days. It is a super basic one though.
But essentially I got 2 pumps (the only good thing about getting laid off?) but I noticed with my old insurance, my company’s HR was a huge help in getting it figured out and reimbursed so try them if you are getting the run around
