I have a therapy appointment scheduled for this morning and my MIL was going to take the kids for me so I could go. Well then I wanted to schedule a massage and scheduled it for later in the day today. I wanted to keep my massage appointment more than my therapy appointment so I rescheduled my MIL to have the kids for that and I figured I’d just cancel my therapy appointment. I could not, for the life of me find my therapist’s card so I still have to go to my appointment. Luckily my friend said she’d watch my kids. This is my first massage ever and I’m super excited. I hope it’s amazing! (And it puts me in labor... jk... or not...)
@hillbillywife enjoy your massage! I have to reschedule mine tomorrow because my massage is booked from 1215-115 and I have an OB appointment at 1....I’m really hoping she has a later opening!
@comealongponds and @hillbillywife jealous of your massages! I hope they are amazing! I want to book a massage for just my feet and legs.
AFM, I went in last night to be monitored after some high BP readings. They were all over the place while I was there (152/95 down to 123/69 and then back to 149/89 all while laying on my side in bed). My urine came back negative so they discharged me on bed rest. I am calling my dr later this morning but i don't think she works Mondays so expecting to be on bed rest until my appointment tomorrow.

Oh man, FX that you hear something from her soon @MrsMiller8588!
DD is home sick today. Want to talk about bad parent moment? I knocked the baby monitor off my nightstand last night, which apparently caused a short in the power cord. So it died. When I turned it on this morning when my alarm went off DD was standing in her bed sobbing and calling for me. She had both end problems in her bed. She's happy now and sitting on the couch watching Daniel Tiger with DH, who is staying home from work with her. She said her tummy hurt though, so she hasn't eaten anything yet today.
Today is my birthday! And my last day of work (which is only a half day really since I have a OB appt at 2) Going out for tacos tonight. Gonna be a good day.
Went out yesterday for a “preggo” pizza that’s supposedly has labor inducing qualities. Hasn’t started anything yet. Lol booo.

I’ll be joining the massage group tomorrow, excited! Happy birthday @rachelsogo !!
@MichelleAG05 hope the tummy ache is nothing lasting!
Well DS has been waking 30 mins to an hour early recently and of course momma to the rescue. I’ve been letting him chill with me in bed because i love the snuggles but gosh i just want to sleep in past 6! Also once baby arrives I’ll have to switch back to sleeping with H. I’ve been enjoying my alone time and the more comfy bed.
So I consider myself very fortunate to have my job, I work from home part time for my old company and can basically pick and choose when to work, so long as my projects get completed. Overall it has been great, but I have been SLAMMED this past month and I thought I was done with my most recent project, but now the client is wanting a ton of revisions... on top of that, I am only taking 2 weeks off for maternity (when I come back after 2 weeks it will be limited though, basically they will let me decline to take on new projects, but I have to handle routine daily and weekly tasks).
I am just feeling a bit overwhelmed. I am worried that the person taking on my daily tasks may leave a lot piled up for me. I guess I am just venting. I just wish I felt confident that once I leave I wouldn't have a huge pile of work waiting on me...
@hillbillywife i was thinking that too but he doesn’t like it much lol. I like the firmness while he doesn’t. It overall just helps my back pain. But I’ll see if he’ll give in. Eventually we need a new bed.
Happy birthday @rachelsogo! Enjoy the tacos!!! @hillbillywife I'm now reminiscing of my massage last week. So good! You'll love it.
@MrsMiller8588 keep us posted on the bed rest, I hope it's not for long. @acunamatada hope this kid stops tricking you! @zande2016 yay for wfh! @MichelleAG05 sorry about the sick kiddo:( @cseley321 that sounds stressful. Can you talk to your replacement and emphasize you will not be going full speed when you come back?
I woke up craving a donut. I mentioned I didn't eat super well this weekend but I'm very tempted to go get one! We didn't go grocery shopping this weekend so there is not much food in the house for a yummy breakfast.
Reading the birth stories and now concerned about post labor cramping. I swear I don’t remember any of this with my first...perhaps my doctors kept me so pumped with the super strength Tylenol I didn’t notice?
Waiting for my follow up appt after all the excitement Thursday..I’ve at least hit 38 weeks so there’s that. Hoping I can actually make it 1 more to July!
Thanks all - she's already watched far too much Daniel Tiger this morning. I intervened while DH was on the phone with the garage door company (did I tell ya'll that the spring snapped and my car got stuck in the garage on Friday when I was having contractions every 15 minutes?!?!) and got her to eat a banana. Now they're building a robot with blocks, with the TV off. She's more whiney than usual, which makes me think she still isn't feeling good but otherwise seems happy. So we'll see! I'm fortunate that DH has a ton of sick time and that he can be her primary caregiver today while I work and save my PTO for maternity leave.
You know you are on TB right before bed when you seriously have dreams that ladies on here get a breast augmentation 2 weeks before a scheduled c section. Don't ask.. I can't even explain why pregnancy gives me the weirdest most vivid dreams!
Slight rant. I’ve been seeing a lot of exercise and weight related questions on the “Real Answers” section and along with so many instagram posts about how quickly these moms lost their baby weight- let’s say I’m just annoyed by it all. It’s nice that they are looking forward to getting back in shape but seriously stop making it the goal immediately after birth.
Happy birthday @rachelsogo !! @MichelleAG05 don't feel bad - we leave the sound off on purpose on our monitor....she woke up a bunch of times crying and I checked the camera, saw nothing was wrong, and rolled over and went back to sleep... So happy DH is watching her today and GL on the garage door @MrsMiller8588 you can do it! BR isn't all bad especially for the short term - excellent excuse to make DH take care of dinner and dishes and watch trash tv and stay in yoga pants -So jealous of all y'all ending work this week! I still have 3 weeks of work, though I'm going to start transitioning stuff this week so back-ups get some refresher/practice and it goes smoothly.
AFM - construction started on the kitchen today!! YAY they already cut open the wall and replaced the window by lunch :-O only downside is I need to actually wear clothing/bra this week with all the work guys here instead of my usual WFH shorts and a nursing cami or nightgown lol. After a total hot mess weekend today is looking up though! Got the new sectional ordered and it's magically back in stock and will be here next Friday! That power recliner is going to be boss for the rest of this pregnancy and CS recovery.
@rachelsogo Happy Birthday and yay to your last day of work!
@wildtot while I get where you're coming from, the reality is that most people want to feel attractive, healthy and in good shape and that's ok! Our bodies get put through the ringer during pregnancy and child birth and it's OK for us to put some focus on feeling and looking good! That doesn't mean it's more important than our family or that every mom is expected to care about "bouncing back" however some of us do.
Personally, I love my body and I feel so grateful for the children it has let me carry and everything it has done for me. However, I do not like carrying extra weight, feeling sluggish and weak. I feel inspired and excited by reading the fitness stuff. To me it's not "shaming" it's affirmation that I can do it and that I'm worth it.
Rant- Hubby and I had a ton to get done around the house this past weekend. Of course we only accomplished half of what we wanted. One thing that was important to me was setting up the bassinet. It's been sitting in a box for weeks. So H is getting it together and he completely cracks the bottom of the sleep surface portion while screwing it in. I feel like he wasn't following directions and paying attention but it still shouldn't have cracked like that! It's not usable and it's getting exchanged. Now I'm worried that the bassinet is a piece of junk but I already have the mattress protectors and sheets that fit this bassinet so I'm hesitant to get a different kind.
^ word. the pressure we moms put on each other is frustrating. "I did it--so should you!"
@MichelleAG05 that's rough--hopefully the kiddo feels better today. Don't forget about popsicles, juice, and gatorade or flavored pedialyte--anything to make sure she stays hydrated today. They even have pedialyte popsicles!
@BrittG13 I don't remember bad cramping after delivery, just the first day stomach "massages" the nurses give you, which hurts. I have heard from a few others that they thought their post-delivery cramping was worse than the labor, but obvs everyone is different.
@cseley321 I don't think I realized that you're only getting 2 weeks off. You seem OK with it...but that sounds horrible to me. When I was a FTM I was able to leave the house and stuff after DD was born, but I couldn't have imagined being required to function at work that soon after birth.
AFM--I also am getting a massage this week, but it's not my first one. So glad my MIL is in town because I was almost going to cancel the appt not knowing who would watch the kiddos. It will be 100 minutes of relaxation--I hope. I almost wish I scheduled it for my 39th week though to see if she could encourage labor. Oh well!
Ahhh I am so jealous of all you ladies getting massages! Enjoy them! I had one this pregnancy, for my birthday back in November before I even felt pregnant, and always told myself I'd get one more before delivery. Now it is looking like we only have one more paycheck each before baby comes and no wiggle room in the budget for a massage. I am tempted to just get one and charge it to a CC and worry about it later, but I need to do the responsible thing and just forego it. Wah. I do still plan to see if I can get an acupuncture session before baby comes (have to check if insurance covers it, and how much), hoping I can find someone who takes my insurance and is willing to do an induction session at 38 weeks instead of 40 - my midwife is willing to provide a note okaying it, since I need medical induction at 39 weeks, but I feel like practitioners will be hesitant.
@runsomewhere i get what your saying and I’m all for success stories but half of these are not “stories” it’s more of a rub it in your face “look at me” without context or motivational background. Or even those “how soon can i go on a diet or start extreme workouts”. Those can affect healing and if BFing and I’d wish they would really talk to their doctor about it. The pp body image pressure can be too much sometimes. Love your body in all stages and it’s great to work towards a goal but be good to yourself.
@rachelsogo, happy birthday! Eat all the tacos you want!
@cseley321, I would be feeling overwhelmed in your situation. I hope you can emphasize to the temp how important it is that you not come back to a big pile of work.
@foxbaby2016, wow, that induction is soon! Good luck preparing for it!
Everyone, enjoy your massages! I had one on Saturday. If you have any swelling issues that haven't been going away, I recommend that your masseuse work on them (if he/she can)--it's the only thing that has given me some relief from swelling.
AFM, as I mentioned on another thread, I had problems with throwing up a lot this morning and then a couple of gushes of fluid that I'm not sure were urine (could have been, because after the gushes there wasn't very much). Going to OB in a couple of hours to learn about my c-section and get any questions related to this resolved. I've been nibbling on snacks and trying to rehydrate myself, and so far I haven't thrown up again, so maybe it was one of those random things (my nausea and throwing up never really disappeared this pregnancy, though the vomiting has been much less often). Ah, the things that week 38 makes you wonder about!
I settled on cereal, because I had an early meeting and didn't have time to drive to the donut place! I will for sure get one tomorrow as I plan on going on a morning walk. Trying to get through the day, I feel so sleepy. Hoping to get a nap in soon on one of my breaks!
Regarding the bouncing back, those posts make me cringe. The photographer friend was like "You're so tiny you'll lose everything right up". It's not my priority even as a (part time) fitness instructor! It's not about enjoying feeling sluggish and large. It's about letting your body heal as it's meant to instead of feeling like going on a run while you're still bleeding, or advertising that you've begun "operation snap back". I will be super excited to go back to working out once I am clear to do so, and only if I feel like it! It is very hard not to send the wrong message out and come off as "I am doing it and so should
I personally think you can still feel put together and confident with a few extra pounds on. Attractive doesn't have to equal thin, in fact that is what annoys me. Now, I get it, if you put on 60 lbs during pregnancy and you're petite it's 100% more difficult to say "Who cares" and it's probably good to start losing some of the weight relatively soon mostly to avoid extra strain on your body/joints/all that - but it should not be a race or something that we do because otherwise we won't be looking good. Eating nutritious food and let your body recover correctly should be the #1 priority.
I think in general society puts unrealistic expectations on women regarding recovering from child birth, from “bouncing back” to returning to work etc. It can take a year or more to physically and emotionally feel “normal” again and that’s okay! My doula was explaining how we have a huge wound the size of our placenta in our uterus, and we need to take the time to heal from that. I never thought about it that way. Beyond that time though (prob the standard 6-8 weeks), we are all going to heal and feel ready to lose baby weight (if we want to at all) on different timelines and that’s totally fine. I wish that was reinforced more by society. I was trying to do weight watchers at 8 weeks postpartum last time and I just was not ready at all - this time I am not going to push myself, and I am going to be more assertive with work and family if I feel like I need more time to heal. I was also really disturbed to read a thread on another pregnancy app recently about women whose husbands were telling them they can’t wait for them to get their body back etc. Reading that made me sick. Your body may never be the same but it did this amazing miraculous thing called making life, and to think men are pushing their wives to bounce back instead of cherishing every stretch mark, makes Me sad. Kind of unrelated since obviously that’s an extreme example and hopefully not the norm, but holy shit there are some people in our society who think that’s okay for a man to tell his wife.
@wildtot I'm excited to be sleeping with my H again. We've been sharing the same bed this whole time, but with my preg pillow it feels like I've been in a different planet sometimes. Which has been great for sleep, but I've missed the snuggles.
@cseley321 Oh man, only 2 weeks? That must be tough. Working from home and only worrying about daily tasks will be nice. I'm in a similar situation. We're a family owned and run business, so I'm still planning on being involved if I need to be. And come in at the beginning of each month to do what needs to be done. Gotta do what you gotta do.
@gingerbride26 horray for construction starting! Very brave to be starting so close to due date! Our master bathroom remodel started 2 months ago! And it's still not completely done. Should be done by this week though. Definitely cutting it close!
@foxbaby2016 wow so soon!! Good luck with it all!!

I am so glad to be around such body positive thinkers. I also hate the societal pressures to lose so fast. I was one of the people who did not lose at all when nursing and with PPD ended up gaining weight. It was such a hard time to feel so insecure. This time I have a plan and feel like I have so much more grace and love for my body.
I've been feeling so weird lately, like I don't have the energy to contribute. I feel like I've talked way less the last few days, although maybe that's not so true, haha.
@zande2016 you are working from home from now on??! Somehow I missed that you got that squared away. Awesome!
@gingerbride26 awesome that kitchen work started today! I hope you'll post pics of the after!
@BrittG13 I don't remember my cramping being real bad either. But I was an unsuccessful breastfeeder and maybe breastfeeding makes it a little worse?
I go both ways on the fitness thing. I get excited to be able to work out and eat right and buy clothes that fit and I'll probably start at 6-8 weeks with super low key stuff, running won't happen for a few months (my pelvic floor always hurts at first). But I also hate that it is something I feel like I need to worry about, and I do often compare myself to others who have lost the weight more quickly...It's not easy for me so it tends to be slow going. It does get hard to still not have many clothes that fit you right after because you are in between pre-preggo pants and maternity sizes.
@SmashJam I did! After being sent to the hospital again on Friday I called my boss when I got home and basically just told her I’m sorry but I can’t commute anymore. She was fine with it.
The girl covering for me is a full time employee. I have dealt with her in the past very closely, and she just half asses everything. She is one of those that instead of resolving the problem she tends to ask a long drawn out question and just push it off to someone else (usually that person was me). I only spent 2 hours training her, but it was over the phone via teamviewer, so I don't think it will be very effective. Most of what I do is play things by ear... basically dealing with insurance companies and client demands.
As for the two weeks, I feel like I was pretty clear that if the reduced workload is still too much, that I can take more time if needed. I am pretty sure they will be understanding. If not, well I don't need the job or anything. I would hate to bail on them, but I am not going to make myself miserable either if I find I just can't handle it. With that being said, my mom agreed to come one or two times a week when I start back so I can get some work done.
I do that too @SmashJam. I can’t help but compare and feel kind of bad. I mean Blake Lively had a baby and then right afterwards she filmed that movie “The Shallows” where she is wearing a bikini for the entire movie. (I have an unhealthy infatuation with Blake Lively though. She’s amazing.)
I agree with everyone, despite my insecurities, that people just lose the weight at different rates. And the important thing is to listen to your own body and make sure you are healthy and safe when considering your new exercise/diet plan.
Well pedi said rash appears to be something like eczema because it’s starting to go away. So that’s good. But his mouth breathing could be a cause of enlarged adenoids (H had the same issues). So we will be trying a spray for the first month and it that doesn’t help we’ll be looking to a specialist to see if he needs them removed. His tonsils are currently larger than they’d like.
@lindsayleigh1989 to go with what you said regarding feeling comfortable with yourself post baby... After DS I was still 30lbs heavier than I was before DD, and I for since reason i just decided that I would stop caring about the extra weight and just be happy with the new me. I stopped being self conscious about wearing shorts and bathing suits out in public, and stopped comparing my body to others...and it was never so easy to lose those 30lbs. Because I wasn't so preoccupied with what was wrong with my new body, I could focus more on just healthy eating and moderate exercise and with nursing, I lost the weight. I don't know, I impressed myself.
I am hoping to lose the extra pregnancy weight I have gained this pregnancy but I'm not going to stress about it.
@wildtot good thing your pediatrician is being proactive on the tonsils! Ds has an appointment on July 24 with an ENT specialist to talk about having his removed, but not because of snoring. We realized after 5 positive step tests in the span of 4 months that ds has so much of the strep bacteria that it basically lies dormant causing him to get it if anyone around him has it. Glad you guys may be able to fix the issue before he starts school and may find himself constantly sick!

@kissableviv go get that donut tomorrow!

I am hoping to lose the extra pregnancy weight I have gained this pregnancy but I'm not going to stress about it.
