  • @MichelleAG05https://www.primary.com/ This website only sells solid colored clothing but it looks like the burgundy (cranberry) options are unavailable at the time. I assume it's because burgundy is considered a "fall color". I'll keep my eyes open though.

@zande2016 I'm experiencing the exact opposite right now. My DS (2 years, 2 months old) won't even give me a kiss anymore and when he does (reluctantly) he wipes it off. I try to pretend like it doesn't hurt my feelings but it totally does.

  • @zande2016 +1 for clingy toddler - DD started around 20 months too so I'm not 100% sure if it's the age or the new baby and knowing I couldn't pick her up as much...trying to enjoy it but SOOOO annoying when I'm trying to drop her off at daycare... today I actually told her teacher to "take this devil child away from me" .... #sorrynotsorry

congrats @babygagnon2018 and good luck @carsonraynee!!  I just said to my husband last night I was surprised no one had any babies yet and BAM here come 3 :-)

@carsonraynee good luck!! Hope all goes smoothly!!

@zande2016 DS has been more clingy in the recent months since turning 2. It’s so wearing for sure and so much sneaking around lol we’ll be experienced ninjas at the end.
  • amdftwamdftw member
@zande2016 My DS (4) has been way more clingy than usual, specifically to me but also to DH a little.  He also "plays shy" when I drop him off at daycare and tries to hide behind me, etc.  He's been going to the same in home daycare since he was a baby so he's comfortable there and definitely used to it.  I'm sure it has to do with anticipating his brother's arrival.

  • I think it hurts my husband that he only wants me, but I tell him it's no picnic for me either, I literally cannot pee without having to hold him while sitting on the toilet. He LOSES HIS SHIT when I won't hold him. This morning I was trying to take a shower and my husband came in to pee - we only have 1 bathroom - and my son was wailing. I said he wants you to pick him up, he was like I can't, I'm peeing. I was like so? I do it all the time. He was like well you sit, I stand. Um, yes and your point? Multi-task! So yeah I can't take a shower, pee, or do anything without listening to a screaming toddler, but my husband can do whatever he wants. I'm sure I would be hurt too if he wanted nothing to do with me though.

@kissableviv im with you on the hospital bag! I have most of my stuff piled in a corner and the bag i ordered arrives tomorrow (I’m replacing an old weekender bag/treating myself).

Has anyone else completed their postpartum basket of supplies? I got a lot based on the thread about it a few weeks back.
  • @rachelsogo may I ask what you ordered?? My stuff is also still piled up! Have not decided what I want to bring and may go with my carry-on roller but TBH I don't think that all my stuff will fit! I ordered a robe for the hospital stay and for later (it's a nursing one and it's mid calf, which I wanted) and a take home onesie but they won't be here for another week or so.

So I bought a bidet insert for the toilet...I'm so stoked to install it this weekend. Haha. But I'll still get the peri bottle too. Hospitals give you that, right? I have some plain aloe and witch hazel in my "save for later" Amazon cart. I'm going to make my own Tucks I think. I also added depends pads to the Amazon cart. No shame! So yeah, slowly building that post partum kit. Also loooooved the Aeerie high rise panties, I have 8 pairs ready to use.

    @acunamatada yay!
So yesterday I saw on IG that a fellow fitness instructor who certified with me for one of the classes has a breech baby on her hands - at 37 weeks . She is semi anti vaxxer and went on and on the whole pregnancy about natural birth and all and now it seems like she is headed to a c section soon. Her fluids are low so they don't want to try the version (if that's what it is). I'm hoping this babe stays head down!

Also, I don't know if that impacted baby positioning but she is still doing box jumps, jumping in general, and lots of (in my opinion) non pregnancy friendly stuff, I feel our bodies don't need any tightening at this point, quite the opposite...but you do you girl, lol
  • oh man- just caught up on the June drama  :D pretty entertaining to read on my lunch break haha
  • @kissableviv wouldn't box jumps and jumps in general help? Like, loosen things up and help the baby move down? I may be way off with this but it sounds like it could help?

@kissableviv Yikes...I struggle with the stairs let along box jumps. I've seen lots of people bite it doing box jumps without being pregnant, I wouldn't risk it.
  • @crabcake18 congratulations on your boys! I hope their NICU stay is short and uneventful. My boys were 33 weekers and did two weeks in NICU to feed and grow so I’m here if you have questions/want to vent!

@carsonraynee good luck with your induction today! I hope everything goes smoothly

@zande2016 my boys are stage 5 clingers on a good day lol. I’ve actually found for us that me sneaking away made them way more upset than if I say bye and tell them I’ll be back soon. I also usually offer a fun “treat” like those gerber cheese puffs or freeze dried fruit/veggie drops.

Holy shit guys, things are getting real!!

  • @zande2016 DS has been the same way. I also nanny, so he'll act like a baby again to try and get me to carry him since he sees it work for the baby I watch. I remember he hit a big clingy phase in general, though, when he was  [I think] about that same age. Wouldn't let me leave his side EVER. A few months later he started sobbing every time DH went to work. I think they just cycle through, especially as they get old enough to have more fears. I don't really  have advice since it stopped as quickly as it started, but I  can definitely offer you lots of sympathy and commiseration.

I almost ran over a prairie dog the other day and DH would of lectured me if i swerved (it moved in time). But i can’t stand throught of running it over.
  • @And846 I take all the pads, mesh undies, peri bottle and stuff that they'll give me from the hospital and I don't usually have to buy much else.  I do use the Always Infinity overnight pads after the first few days and I think I already have some of those at home.  I know a lot of people suggest getting Depends but I'm cheap and the stuff from the hospital is free and works well enough for me.  I have thought about buying the Earth Mama Organics herbal perineal spray but haven't yet.  I only tore with my first birth and haven't torn at all with my last three babies.  So I'm not sure if I really need it.

  • Everyone is getting so close! It's amazing. And @acunamatada glad your babe is head down. What did you do that you think was successful? Any idea?

Guys I'm having a moment. I had all the stuff to do today and just, no urge to do it.  DS is a mess because he's tired, and I just couldn't deal today so I gave up. He  threw a fit on the way to the store and I just turned around. I just couldn't. We have no snacks, dinner, breakfast, coffee, nothing. We have like, popcorn and some lunchmeat and carrot sticks, and bread and peanut butter and jelly. Oh and cold bacon that was gonna go on our pizza tonight but we don't have any cheese so we aren't having that. So we are having shit food for dinner and there will be no coffee in the morning when we wake up. I can't do dishes because we are out of dish soap so those are piling up too. I tweaked my back or something and my left side hurts so bad I can't even independently move that side of my lower body or bend at the hips (though i can squat) so at least I'm sitting without pain. The dogs are barking at everything so I locked them in their cages. DS is watching Blaze while I try not to lose my shit.

What's most annoying about this is literally no one cares if I cook or clean the house. DS and DH are perfectly happy eating crappy food. DH gets to leave for work tomorrow so he cna get coffee there. DS is fine watching Blaze. I'm the one that is actually suffering so if I don't get up and do something soon I will have no one to blame but myself for the shitstorm of a day I'll have tomorrow. OH MY GOD WHY AM I SUCH A SAD SACK??!

@carsonraynee Good luck!!! Sending you positive vibes and best wishes!

@kissableviv  I agree with you and @nimmle about box jumps. Seems a little risky because you could easily injure yourself.  But let me be honest, due to my severe SPD pain I have done little more than a slow waddle to chase after my 2 yo DD, lol!

And speaking of box jumps, my husband recently joined a CrossFit gym. He was telling me about how high he could jump now, and compared the box to our counter in the bathroom. I said there was no way he could jump that high. Oops. I then watched him risk the structural integrity of our bathroom vanity as he proved that, yes indeed, he can jump that high. I was also fairly impressed that he avoided hitting his head on the ceiling at the same time.
  • @SmashJam I'm sorry you're having a rough day!  Can your DH run to the store later or keep DS so you can go?  No coffee in the morning is a recipe for disaster for me lol.  I hope the day turns around and you can prep for a better day tomorrow!

I’m starting to realize i should maybe start my hospital bag. I’m just not prepared at all! Still have a lot of baby gear in the crawl space. We got out appointment with a L&D nurse in two weeks to go over hospital preference and get more details on the c section procedures. Had a talk with my ob yesterday about get tubes tied and eventually (1-2 years from now) get hysterectomy. I was relieved to hear they don’t push for ovary removal like my mom told me.
  • @SmashJam I really don’t know, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she moves back too, just last night I was feeling kicks low.. Now I’m feeling hiccups low again!
I think the frozen veggies on my bump got her low most consistently, but she’d just hang out transverse- I never did the heat down low. Plus it felt awesome on my ribs! I spent most nap times upside down like a weirdo, and hung out in a sort of childs pose but more inverted/butt in the air- which also feels good on my back.
I’m trying to do more hip opening exercises now to keep her there but I guess time will tell!
Sorry you’re having a crap day, do you have Instacart in your area? I use that in a pinch when DS is being a butthole or I’m just lazy. I think there’s a free trial period too if you haven’t used it before.
  • @SmashJam you are completely allowed to have a bad day.  I also get down when I'm the only one that cares about stuff and i'm killing myself and no one appreciates it.  I think a grubhub night and coffee drive thru run in the morning is needed.  Order a pizza and put the bacon on it yourself. If it helps...i meant to go into the office today but DD fought me for 40 min to get ready for daycare....so instead of driving into the office after drop off I drove home and got back in bed to work (by way of starbucks drivethru...)

  • @crabcake18 congratulations on your baby boys! Sending a big hug and hoping their time in the NICU is short.

Good luck @carsonraynee! Hoping labor and delivery is as smooth as it can be. Can’t wait to hear your announcement!
  • Re box jumps, I think it's the actual high impact they have on knees, pelvis and hips in general. Again my first question is...why? Normally those are to improve endurance, balance, coordination, I get endurance is good for labor but there are other exercises that are safer for that I think.
  • @kissableviv I agree that box jumps seem too risky and too high impact on the joints so far along in pregnancy. Also the thought of coordination and balance makes me nervous bc of center of gravity being slightly off.
  • Yay @zande2016! I hope it settles! Sorry about the squirrel @rachelsogo. I always freak out when I visit Texas because there's lots of deer by the in laws' house.

@SmashJam I HAVE to have coffee in the house even though on some mornings I end up not having any. I hate wanting it and not having any around. Hugs and I hope the day turns around!

@Sarafuss I heard great things about the spray but see I'm also cheap about some stuff and wondering if I can make my own??
  • @kissableviv I've heard that the Dermaplast (sp?) that I've been provided in the hospital is the same thing but not the natural/herbal version that Earth Mama makes.  I've never felt like I needed to use the Dermaplast stuff though so I'm thinking I should just go without...

  • As I've mentioned, we are moving into a house with my bil and his 8 yo. I have so many emotions on this. Latest story in spoiler

Well, he has 2 dogs, 1 being a puppy. He does not take care of these dogs at all. His older dog, 10yo, has been neglected for as long as I've known them. Some days she has had no food, always full of fleas. BIL has abused her. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about this. Well, DH and I were over at the house doing some work on it and the boxer attacked the puppy for no reason. None. Just preyed on it and attacked. I dropped whatever I had in my hands to grab the boxer, DH grabs the boxer as well, all while the boxer has the puppy in her mouth. We all fall to the floor and the puppy runs off yelping. This is the 2nd time the boxer attacked the puppy in the 2 days we were there. The first time dh was able to grab the boxer before any harm was done. I call bil and tell him because he isn't even there. BIL says oh just put one outside and keep the other inside. I say no, Im taking the puppy home with me because she is bleeding and needs to be taken care of asap. That if we were not there, the puppy would have died. DH is crying because the boxer is old and hasn't had the best life, the puppy is hurt, I fell on my butt, he is angry with his brother, all the feels. I call L & D as a precaution. They tell me what to look for if I'm hurting. Thank all things holy I was not hurt (although I am covered in spider and flea bites). We take the puppy home, dh bathes her twice to clean her up and get rid of the fleas. We managed to stop the bleeding from her nose. However, I find an old puncture wound under her chin. It smells, is infected, and just gross. I clean it up as much as possible because its now going on 1am. I put the puppy in a crate with a warm blanket and bed. The next day I make sure she is cleaned up again, fed, potties, and has water, etc. I text bil to let him know the puppy needs to got o the vet to get looked at. His response: she'll be cool. I'll go next check to get her medication and vaccinated. There is NO urgency. None. 0.  To top it off, the puppy is his 8 yo daughter's. She is only around 50% of the time. She told me that the puppy has been attacked 3 times. This little girl was attacked by a different dog a year or 2 ago. So she even knows how bad this is. So now I am trying to figure out what to do with this puppy. Do I give her back knowing he won't do what is needed and her more than likely getting attacked again? Do I take her to the vet and relinquish her because I am not willing to bail bil out, again? If I do this, it will create an even bigger issue between dh and his brother. I'm truly at a loss here. The puppy is not mine. We told bil that we will not move into that house if the boxer is still there. I will not put myself, my newborn child, and my dog in a bad situation. The owner of the house (my sil, dh and bil's sister) does not want the bil there anymore, however she will not kick him out because he doesn't have anywhere to go. I'm truly feeling like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place now.

  • @acunamatada YAY! Glad your LO is head down.  I'm going to try the frozen veggies and be better about doing all the crazy upside down and bendy exercises.

@SmashJam Is your LO also in breech?  I'll cross my fingers for some turning for you too!

Baby is still in breech :/ I'm trying to remember that there's only so much in my control...but as soon as we walked out of the appointment, I got teary and upset.  Anyone have successful version to turn baby?  They very frankly told me how painful it will be and that it's 50-60% effective.
  • @julybabybear yep! Just found out, although flipping between transverse and breech at this point! I'm gonna have to try the frozen veggies and heat thing also. I read on a website that having DH talk to the baby or sing and hold a light down by the pelvis is a good thing, and also music being played down there with a light as well, so I might try those. FX for you also!
