@elizabethrn87 hope all is ok! I had a terrible night due to a huge headache, shortness of breath, contractions, and really sad dreams giving me anxiety. My head is still hurting and keep feeling out of breath.
@wildtot I am sorry you had a terrible night. I have been up since 3am and feeling really sad today for some reason. It could be just lack of sleep in general lately, but I am just struggling. All these emotions in third tri are really hard to deal with....
Meagan Married 6.12.10 DS 11.8.12 Baby GIRL! due 7.4.18
@stlmegs I am also dealing with crazy emotions. Last night I was cuddling with DH and all of a sudden started crying because I started thinking what if something ever happened to him. I'm so dumb and I don't know how it started but the poor guy was so confused.
Also feeling a bit of a TW because he actually initiated sex last night but there is no way I can do that without lube, bahahaha. So I felt bad telling him that but he took it really well(it seems) and said he will take care of it. Makes me feel good he still wants the action, although in all honesty it was already past midnight and now I slept like crap and I just wanna nap all day!
@wildtot sorry to hear about your night, I hope the day turns around and you get to relax even just for a little but after work.
@kissableviv lmao DH started kissing me last night in a potentially initiating sex way and I have never been so happy for him to then just say goodnight and roll over. Dodged that bullet, now I have to buy lube too lol
I'm jealous of those of you getting some action this week. No way am I putting my messed up swollen vagina through that, OUCH! I'm afraid I might be out of the game till post baby this time
I hear you all with the DHs initiation. I get amazed that he still wants it with the huge swollen belly, but then he says that I've never looked more amazing to him. I guess it really is a turn on to see what they accomplished?
@nimmle he says the same thing and I'm not feeling too huge that to be honest I'm all belly and boobs but I'm clearly not as nimble!! So that's always awkward. I would also pass but I think I need to enjoy this time without baby and it's a good opportunity to cement our relationship even further. So, lube it is!!!
@wildtot I hope your day is better than last night and you get some r&r. @runsomewhere I'm right here with you! Dh has actually stopped asking because of how much I've been complaining about the swollen painful vag. I miss sex, though. Enjoy ladies!!
To all those struggling to have sex, I saw my doula today and we were talking about various methods of trying to encourage spontaneous labor, and I asked her straight up when I HAVE to start putting effort into having frequent sex. Because right now it's just not worth the effort (I am the worst wife but whatever, my vagina hurts). She was like don't bother with it until 36 weeks, and then just get the semen any way you can, even if it's orally. So apparently we don't have to actually have sex to get the benefits, just swallow it?? I mean, not that that sounds very appealing to me either, but for those suffering with a sore vagina, or on pelvic rest, it's good to know!
@zande2016 probably was discussed before but I’ve been heard it before but don’t know why, what is the benefits of having sex at that time?
My loor DH is also going through a dry spell so to speak lol I’ll try lube too hahah, I just feel so large and unattractive. Not on the regular just during intimate times lol
@catftm2018 semen contains a lot of prostaglandins, which is the same substance the doctors will put on your cervix to help you dilate/ripen if you're being induced (like cervadil). So having frequent sex towards the end of pregnancy can help you dilate and can help soften/ripen your cervix. I had no idea just ingesting it could make a difference, but according to my doula it can.
I feel bad but I'm convinced that if I attempt to have sex now my vagina will either run away, explode or the baby will fall out.
It wasn't this bad with my first pregnancy but honestly we also hardly had sex in the third tri back then. It went back to normal within 2 months after birth though so I'm not too worried.
@zande2016 maybe it was in here or on a website but I heard that three shots of seen is equal to one dose of whatever cervical ripened docs use. To me that seemed like an awful lot of sex so I was writing it off bc swillen vag, but I can give bjs til the cows come home so if that helps I'm in! I wonder if it has to be a certain frequency?
@smashjam I have no idea, I guess it's just the more the better, or as much as you can tolerate. I'm like, can't I just have him get the semen out himself, and then we can turkey baster it up there?
@SmashJam I'm dying at your post lol tmi but I'm actually totally ok with that too and if it gets me off the hook for sex and gives me more sleep I'm all for it, bring it! Hahahahaha
Got sent home last night as pain went away on it’s own. Had a bacterial infection. Woke up today in excruciating pain- back at the hospital- they think kidney stones now. No contractions though anymore so that’s good
@zande2016, I'm not willing to Google it on my work computer but the comment your midwife made about BJs doesn't sound right to me. I'm fairly certain that your stomach acid would kill off anything beneficial there, plus how would it get it your uterus?!? Through your blood? I feel like there's a reason they put cervadil directly on the cervix, not in an IV. Like I said, I've done no research so maybe I'm wrong!
We forced ourselves to have sex once late term with DD and it wasn't fun for either of us. It's been about 2 months since we last actually had sex - maybe it traumatized us into no longer wanting 3rd trimester sex?!?
@MichelleAG05 I know, I had the same reaction when she said it, but then I was thinking that some swallow evening primrose oil pills for the same thing - prostaglandins. My midwife said swallow and apply to cervix. so I guess the same would apply to semen? I’m sure vaginal sex is way more effective. Also it’s mostly all anecdotal from what I can tell, not much in the way of scientific studies. Googling got me nowhere.
@zande2016 - I had a dr's appt today. I asked if I can finally be off of pelvic rest. So we talked about sex. She said it's more than a wives tale, but there isn't a whole lot of scientific study behind it to actually say whether or not semen will jump start labor or not. She just told me proceed with caution until 36 weeks (because I've been on rest for so long), then have at it
@zande2016 aren't there also pills taken orally for induction? I feel like some women on BC said that in their birth stories. I don't know if that is their purpose but it would stand to reason that if I can ingest pharmaceuticals to ripen my cervix I could swallow semen to do it too! lol
Holy headaches, anyone else? I was starting to get them before my last appointment so I mentioned them to my OB then and she wasn't concerned because they were manageable. I have an appointment next Friday, but wondering if I should call before then. I'm literally having them every single day, sometimes they're not too bad, but other days they last for hours or go away and then come back. I'm also generally tired a lot. I was slightly anemic at my last visit so I've been on an iron supplement since then. I'm not having any other worrying symptoms that usually go along with headaches that I know of. My weight, BP, etc...has been good at all of my appointments, but man the last couple weeks the headaches have ben real.
I have an appointment with my OB in a bit. I'm just seeing the nurse practitioner for the quick, weight, blood pressure, belly measurement, baby HR check. It's also a chance to ask any questions which I rarely have. Now I have that whole swollen vagina with possible varicose veins thing going on. I kind of want them to take a look and make sure it's ok but I'm embarrassed to show them my jacked up looking vagina Should I just get over it and talk to them about it?
@runsomewhere may as well ask... Someone will see you vagina way more jacked up than it is now when a baby is coming out of it. I can pretty much guarantee a medical professional will have seen things way stranger than pregnant vagina
@supersara2 and @KatyF0813 I'm going in planning to show them. Realistically I know I'm being silly but I feel so weird about it!
I'm seeing the same OB as I did with my previous pregnancy and somehow the doctor seeing the baby coming out and all that mess didn't bother me like this does.
I talked to the nurse practitioner about it and she checked out my situation. Said that it's totally normal and that the swelling and varicose veins are actually very minimal and it will go away after baby is born. But, there isn't much I can do about it other than stay comfortable and ice it if I want so I will have a busted vagina till birth.
And that last sentence I typed made me lol because obviously things will get way more busted with birth but I meant regarding this situation. In short, I have a few months of various vagina issues to get through lol.
I listened to a FB live talk with my yoga mentor and a pelvic floor specialist today. She gave a workshop last week during my training. I wish I could get an appointment in before the baby! But it's $200...so unless I can use my HSA (we get roughly $200 a month in thanks to Fitbit points) I can't spend that now. She mentioned that pelvic pressure, sciatica and tailbone pain are early signs of pelvic floor issues. One thing she suggest trying maybe once a month is try to stop the urine flow while peeing to assess your pf strength .
For kegels, she suggests to do 10 where you squeeze for 10 and release for 10 seconds, and 10 quicker ones. Making sure you relax the pf completely with the release. She says to do them while you brush your teeth...ugh so much to take care of during pregnancy!!! Hope this is useful info. Her website, if anyone's interested, is called restored physique.
I hurt today! And not in my hips like I have been when I wake up, but lower back, ankles, shins. So weird! I didn't do anything yesterday that was abnormal from other days. Baby must be in a different (painful!) position.
