October WTO

Re: October WTO

  • The fall is staring here- I'm in the city so the trees are just turning yellow. There are not as many orange and red trees in Switzerland as I had when living on the east coast. We did have snow this weekend on our trip to the mountains!

Im going a little crazy with this WTO... I'm at cd 16 and I usually get a positive OPK on 15 or 16. It's the evening of the 16th and nothing so far- I'm freaking out a little bit.... I'm holding it in now to pee on an opk soon...

@vlagrl29 we just finished our taxes too! We're also getting a refund- it's a happy accident but DH was paying quarterly taxes on his income which was from as we learned a non taxable grant- so we're getting it all back! I'm looking forward for that fat check  :D
  • jchpg You're currently living in Switzerland, or you're visiting there? Either way it's absolutely beautiful!

  • @ELeighMay I'm living in Switzerland now. It's partly why I'm alway having to catch up with you ladies on here. My timing is off!

  • @jchpg that's beautiful!
  • is anyone taking or have taken evening primrose oil?  I've read it can increase cervical mucous so I figure that can't hurt.  Make sure I have plenty of that plus pre seed.

DH wanted to fool around last night and I'm pretty dry in the CM right now as I'm only CD 10.  I am feeling twinges on what I think would be the cervix part.

  • @vlagrl29 I've read that you can take it until ovulation but it's not safe in pregnancy so you should stop after O. But that's all I know. I tried taking it years ago for my IBS but it gave me crazy migraines (I have a migraine disorder) so I haven't tried taking it while TTC.

  • @vlagrl29 I have a Diva cup but found it painful to use. I think I bought the wrong size (I followed the sizing chart but I think I need smaller). I do, however, use cloth menstrual pads and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I will never go back to disposable pads. Ever. I only made the switch a few months ago after debating it for years, and I wish I had done it sooner.

  • Good to know about the sizing @tosh24

i just wish I could consult my doctor with all these herbs I think about taking but they don't recommend them.

  • @vlagrl29 I know you've made mention that your insurance doesn't cover paramedical services, but if you are able to swing even 1-2 visits to a naturopath, they would be able to advise you in the supplement department. Even my RE admitted that he didn't know a heck of a lot about supplementation and he advised me to see the naturopath on staff at the clinic. I've found it to be a great help with what to take, how much, and to make sure nothing is contraindicated with anything else (natural or otherwise) that I'm taking or other health issues that I have.

  • @vlagrl29 Thanks for the info, I think we screwed up with gross vs net income. I have a personal thing against Regence blue Cross (long story) so that's why I didn't go with them this past year, but I should have. This insurance has really hit us hard financially this year. Our parents have helped us out big time, thank goodness. In my area, Cigna doesn't reimburse providers too well so a lot of providers don't take it, but they are great otherwise. I may consider switching to them.

@tosh24 Interesting you like cloth pads. I may look into it for my next period, which hopefully won't be for a long time if all goes well this cycle :)
  • @tosh24- that is a good point.  I could try and find a natural doctor in our area just to confirm I'm taking everything as I should be with the right dosage as well as what DH is taking.  I could probably afford a couple visits.

  • @fishee333 I waited so long to try them out because I was scared of the cleaning process but it is seriously NBD. I throw them in a wet bag during the day and rinse them out with cold water at night. Every day or every other day I throw them in with a load of socks/underwear and hang them up to dry. It is easy peasy and not at all the grossness I thought it was going to be. And I don't even feel them when I'm wearing them. I actually *forgot* I was on AF multiple times last cycle, which blows my mind. They are so comfortable. I did a ton of research before buying and the best advice I can give is to measure out the pads you use now to figure out what cloth sizing you will need. Measure the length, the width at the back and front, and the width at the crotch. If you have trouble areas (like leaking off the sides or off the back, for instance) then you can address those by adjusting the width and length of pads you buy. I started out doing a Google search of "best cloth pad reviews" and then once I found the top brands of interest to me, I went on to YouTube to look at video reviews so I could actually see the pads. Flow of the Goddess has a YouTube channel for her cloth shop and she has a video that goes through all the best top layer fabrics, absorbency types, backing/leak proof fabrics, etc. I found it super helpful. And the rest is just trial and error so I would advise against buying too many of the same brand to start in case you don't end up liking them. I have had good results with Domino Pads, Pampered Mama, Cheecolicious (LOVE my cotton sherpa pad from them), and Flow of the Goddess (although her pads a bit too narrow for me). Most of the sellers are on etsy and do custom orders to your preferred sizing. I have adenomyosis which causes extremely heavy flow and I have not leaked out of a single cloth pad ever, which was a regular occurrence for me with disposables (I wore overnights 24/7 and still leaked all the time, sometimes so bad I'd have to leave work to change my clothing).

Sorry for the novel, I just have to share my new love of cloth :)

  • @fishee333 - regarding cigna that's what I heard from our Chiro last year.  They don't pay much regarding claims so their network of doctors is smaller than other providers.  My OB takes them though so that's good.  Yes go with Net income for next year.  Open enrollment starts Nov 1 I think.

  • @tosh24 - took your advice and got a referral from a functional medicine doctor from a friend of mine.  Have a free 15 minute consult tomorrow to see if she can address what I need and help me out with the natural supplements.  Shes cash pay.  $124 first visit and $70 for all additional visits.

  • @sprkls8506 I hope it doesn't last that long.  Happy BD time

@sprkls8506 yay! Hopefully you get a solid soon.

I haven't had my smiley face yet. I'm freaking out a bit. I just have smile or not- but I'm past when I should O and nothing. I've never hated that stupid blank face so much. I'm temping and hoping to see an increase in the next day or so- maybe my opk stick is just off. Ugh. I hate this part. We've had great BD timing this month too! I think I'll be devastated if I don't even O. It will like some is crushing salt in the wound too- this is my last chance before my EDD on he 31st.
  • *sort of lurking from the bench
@jchpg That looks lovely! I can't imagine living somewhere so peaceful!
@tosh24 I have thought about trying the diva cup too... but of course I am BSC and continually think that I'm going to be pregnant and won't need it.

AFM - even though I am technically still benched for October, I have been tracking with OPKs. Yesterday was positive (CD19). I was really worried that the septate resection surgery was going to mess with my cycle, so as long as AF comes on time, looks like I'm finally unbenched next cycle, after 5 months!!! Can I just say how incredibly excited I am to get rid of condoms?
  • msstephanielynn YAY for getting off the bench! That's awesome.

sprkls8506 Good luck this cycle! I hope it's your last for a while.

I should get my blinking smiley Sunday or Monday, so I told DH we'd better BD for practice until then...you know, just in case.
  • yea for no more bench!  @msstephanielynn

GL with the blinking smiles @sprkls8506 - that would drive me nuts lol

We will get on the BD train tomorrow night

  • @Mack2342 Hahahah I'm dying! That GIF is great :)
  • Am I the only one that feels like the TTC process is like waiting to be chosen for the hunger games? I get so excited for the TWWer that finally gets their BFP.
  • @msstephanielynn ya for no condoms! Have fun BDing!

@ELeighMay yes BD for practice! DH keeps telling me that!

    @vlagrl29 have fun tonight  ;)

Im still dying here- no smiley face for me. Seriously hoping my opk reader is broken and my temp will spike soon.
  • @msstephanielynn yay for almost being off the bench!!

Well, I go here now. CD2 after my second 7 day LP in a row :disappointed: Waiting on a reply back from my ob about what she thinks I should do about it. Just wish things would get back to normal already!

Anyway.. DH and I are having a date night tomorrow because our BIL will be watching DS, so at least I can have a few drinks now??
  • pumpkinpancake That sucks about your LP. There must be something they can do to help that. I hope they get back to you soon. In the meantime I hope you have fun on your date night. I need to schedule one of those soon. I miss date night!
  • So this am I did the OPK. Error!!! So I waited a few hours and just did it. The circle came up but yesterday was a blinking smile???? Has this happened to anyone before?
  • So I had switched testers because mine gave me an error twice. I just read that a new tester will give you the circle to start. Grrrr!
  • sprkls8506 - Which one are you using?
  • Clear blue advanced. So now I feel like the testing will be a mess. I was thinking I was calmer this month despite the fact that all things baby make me sad but now this. Now I will be BSC for a little longer.
  • I use those too. I've never had it automatically give me a circle, but I did forget to eject the stick this morning when I left home so am panicked a bit that it'll ruin the holder.
  • It did the thinking thing then the circle. I read that it will happen if you switch testers but after 2 errors I wasn’t sure what else to do???
  • I hope ur tester isn’t ruined!! They r so pricey to just keep buying. Does anyone know how many cycles a tester works for?
  • You can use them for more than one cycle, but you run out of the stupid sticks so you have to buy a new one anyway. I wish they would sell just the sticks. I googled the $#!t out of it and wasn't able to find anything that said it couldn't be used again. Just that it might think it's a new cycle. Whatever, It shouldn't be a flashing smiley yet anyway. I started a few days early just in case really.
  • Happy Friday everyone! AF is already gettting lighter, and it’s almost the weekend, so I’m feeling happier today. I’m thinking about trying OPKs this cycle so I can have more data points with temping to confirm o, so I wanted to see if you guys could suggest your favorite kinds? Any tips for someone new to OPKs?
  • Yep I just bought the box of 20. I was using the old tester until I got the error. I know I shouldn’t get a solid until Mon so hopefully it is all set. We are usually good about BD but the silly progesterone has to be after O. I don’t temp so hopefully it all works out...prob for a BFN anyway! Isn’t it fantastic to deal with such a process???Also, I don’t get why they don’t sell just the sticks. Might as well start a new tester anyway!!!
  • @pumpkinpancake I like the clear blue advanced even tho I’m annoyed with them today! Haha! And yay for lighter AF! I also feel better once it’s almost over!
  • I would not be able to handle the advanced stuff.  I"m going to buy my cheap dollar strips tomorrow and start testing sunday
