Symptoms, symptoms, and more symptoms!

Re: Symptoms, symptoms, and more symptoms!

  • @vrj0522 tomorrow at 11am. I will talk to them about it then.  I'm feeling less dizzy after eating, but the pain is insane.  I just like to know if this is something I just have to deal with or something else...

  • @Jens_Hoes If it feels like true pain, I'd call. If it's just discomfort, I'd wait (if it were me.)
  • I may be the only one but I don't think labor pains feel like menstrual cramps.. or maybe I've just never had strong cramps... I think a Charlie horse to the abdomen sounds a little bit more like my last experience.
  • Thanks. Seems like a crazy question but it was so weird because I could hardly stand up. But I had to pee really bad so I just hobbled across the house bent in half. Who knows. And with my BH my whole uterus gets hard and it definitely was not like that. Oh well. I only had the one and then it went away so just another lovely mystery of pregnancy!

I get cramps/contractions just like this when I have a full bladder too! It's definitelty not BH but so painful. For me, real contractions feel like the worst menstrual cramps when you just want to curl up into a fetal position.

  • My blood pressure has been borderline high this week (I'm a teacher). I generally feel out of breath and feel like my feet and legs are a weird purpley/blue color. I had my 36 week appt tomorrow and bp was 138/78 and was 139/79 today at work, even after my prep.
  • @heath313 Hopefully your BP will be okay tomorrow at the appointment, but I'd mention your concerns. Also, take a load off, prop your feet up, and drink some water when you get home. ;) Hope you feel better!
  • @livin541 Earlier this week I had a few painful contractions that felt like labor.  Nothing that made me think I was actually in labor, but was enough to make me go "oh yeah, that's what it feels like" and then get really bummed out to have to go through it again in a few weeks.

Exactly. The end of pregnancy is not all puppies and rainbows, but I remembered and was more prepared for all these aches and pains. The labor memories are just now flooding back, and all these moms with super quick labors and no time for epidurals are freaking me out a bit!

If it's painful discomfort, I would wait until tomorrow but if it's straight up pain or if you feel like there could be something wrong, then I say call and don't wait. Glad the dizziness let up some.

  • @Cubslove12 sorry to hear you had a tough day, but hooray on your last day of work!! My last day is scheduled to be the 19th, but these kids are seriously wearing. I may end next week after I finish proctoring PARCC.

Ha, yeah, I used to get menstrual cramps so bad that they'd wake me up even if I was medicated with ibuprofen, and I'd sometimes throw up from the pain. The one silver lining was that my mom (who also got them bad as a young woman) said it was like labor and that I'd be ready for that if I had kids. And yes I was ready! Early labor was a cinch -- mild to medium cramps. Active labor was like my most intense menstrual cramps (horrible, but at least I had done it before). Transition, well, that was not something I was prepared for! But at least it's pretty short.

  • @lrwardrop Its past midnight right now amd Im thinking the same. As I was going to bed, i started feeling strong cramping in the front of my belly and it was lasting about 2 to 3 minutes apart and I was just thinking this can't be it. I even started using a contraction timer. Lol. I'm using the bathroom now (TMI) to see if that's the problem. This is all making me nervous now as far as what's to come because I guess the real pain or intensity will be a lot worse than what I'm feeling now. It must be something I ate, but we will see if this continues.

How's it going @MrsCPALeslie? Has the cramping progressed or has it subsided?  Hoping you're doing ok!
  • @rkstro2 the cramping stopped after I left the bathroom last night. False alarm I guess.
  • I think I might have some pregnancy carpel tunnel in my right hand. I woke up around 5 this morning to pee, and noticed my arm and hand were numb/tingly. It didn't go away. I can see a bit of swelling between my thumb and forefinger, and if I make a fist, the tingling gets worse. It basically runs through my hand and up my arm to about my elbow. Anyone know if that sounds right to be carpel tunnel? I've never experienced it before.
  • @starphish18 that sounds about right :(

@starphish18 - yeah, sounds like it. Hopefully it goes away after baby's birth.

  • @starphish18 It should get better after baby, but hopefully it'll get better throughout the day. Try to rest your wrist (typing is the worst). Also, try to pay attention to how you're sleeping. I've noticed my hands and wrists go numb/tingly if I sleep with them bent at all.
@MrsCPALeslie Glad it was a false alarm (or not if you were hoping to go into labor!) Definitely glad you're at least feeling better.
  • @erinh2005 I'm in the same boat as you except I know where to call! Need to pack my bag if these contractions finally find a rythm

@MrsCPALeslie sorry you had a food scare instead of go time!  Hoping it's resolved now so you feel better
  • Good job @ShadeofGreen816! Proud of you!

meanwhile my hip joints are effin killing me. I can't get comfortable in bed at all! Even with pillows between the knees and everything!
  • I hear ya @thistlenweeds! I slept horrible last night due to hip pains. Nothing helped...we had graduation at the college today and I ended up sitting a ton! Then my boss said I could go home early

  • @ShadeofGreen816 I'm super behind, but wanted to say congratulations! That is an incredible achievement!
  • I'm having cramping pain but only on my right side. So annoying.
  • lnds32lnds32 member
@starphish18 right?!? I am like, maybe this is it! I am only 38 weeks but I am good to go anytime!
  • That's how I feel, too @kat81. I just get a really tight feeling and sometimes a little crampy. Don't drink enough, feel crappy; drink too much, feel crappy. Ugh...are we there yet?

Yeah the painless braxton hicks contractions are still kind of annoying. But then you get the ones that are actually painful. I mean, not REALLY painful, but like real early labor painful. I had that a lot last time around and ended up being overdue anyway. I actually don't mind going a few days overdue this time because it works fine with our schedules, but if I go more than 4 days overdue it will start to really piss me off! Not just with all of the annoying contractions, but also because my in-laws are leaving the country for two weeks about 9 days after I'm due. They are our backup people for the older kids! So hopefully I'll have the baby close to on time.

  • @kat81 I'm in the same boat. I've been having tight take-your-breath-away contractions every 20 minutes for the last 4 hours. This happened a lot with my first and I wound up being induced. This time it's every evening- last time it was 2am so at least there's that. It's so annoying. I have an appt tomorrow and I hope that they tell me I'm a little bit dialated.
  • @kat81 Right there with you! I'm sorry you're dealing with this!
  • kat81kat81 member
@Hansolosparka , @jayandaplus , @BabyMC517 -- how are your partners about the contractions? My DH is freaking out even though this is #3! I guess part of it is that we really want to get through Tuesday night at least because we have dinner plans (and probably more so for me because of my grading). But it's like he doesn't remember that I had this going on with #2 as well and I told him repeatedly that the midwives warned me this is how it would be -- extended false labor with #3. @Hansolosparka I hope that you get a good result at your appointment and that you don't have to be in limbo much longer!
