@MrsDramaK@raptormomma I knew what you meant. What I am trying to say is some of us don't have the luxury of ever having a place to escape.
I think the conversation here has been awesome, and honestly surprisingly so.
I think everyone has been very respectful and listened to the opinions of others. I'd be fine with a separate post with a TW. But i also feel like my life going through life for me is a TW. I am sure based on the current climate in our country the police wives on the board likely feel the same way.
I wish I could go somewhere and pretend things aren't happening but that is not a privilege that i have.
As the only black woman (that I know of on this BMB) the fact that a conversation is too much to handle strikes me as small when i live with this all day everyday.
That said again I am not opposed to its own thread or TW label.
Also, i like mint, but i think because it's a pastel it can be taken as "feminine" (whatever that means lol). I think what you pair it with will determine how others view it. But if you like it.....eff everybody else's opinion

My son always picks things that throw us off, he just picks when he sees it in the store. My daughter however said she wants to dress up as "Mal" from the Disney made for TV movie "descendants" which is great because I saw this outfit at Walmart so I know we can find it as for me I wanted to dress up with my husband like the following picture, but my husband was not amused and is not on board at all. LolI have no clue who these people are, I found the pic on google.
I think a separate thread for those who want/need to talk politics is a good idea. Then those who want/need a bubble can easily avoid the convo. What would we call it, Bubble-free Bump Thread *TW reality & politics*
@FishyMom No! I love mint, I have strong opinions for it. I think it actually looks brighter in real like, but that room gets a lot of light in our house. Just to show you actual photos of it, I happen to have these two on my phone (sorry if they're huge).
This one is when it's darker out and using the over head lights.
This one is during the daytime and is all natural sunlight.
@yogadevil You summed that up very nicely. I think that's why I sometimes feel compelled to explain, even though probably no one wants to hear it (sorry guys!).

My apologies for deleting my comment, but thanks for reading it! I think you and I are both on the same page, my tendency for long winded redundancy isn't always the most appropriate on a forum like this so I rolled my eyes at myself and decided to let it go lol.
I really like the color @mrsdramak. I can't wait to paint!
@homemake I want to think of something super cute too since DD is almost 2, this could be my last chance to choose. If she were to choose I think she'd pick to be Minnie Mouse or Daisy Duck.
@krob I completely understand where you are coming from. I'm mixed race but identify with being Black. I feel the same way that I can't escape this horrible reality or shake the terror that some day my Black son will be look at like a target and someone to be feared. I feel helpless, and his father who has been a cop in LA for 15 years feels helpless. It's devastating on a daily basis and impossible to escape.
I also agree with what @Spicyweiner said. We've had conversations on race here before and it made me nervous a little, but most of the ladies on here are allies and have said everything I know to be true. It made me proud to be apart of this group and gave me a little hope for our future and the future of my children. These women, will teach their children their values, respect and advocacy. I need to see that to try to believe my kids have a chance. But it is exhausting. And yes, this morning I read the news stories and felt hurt, defeated and afraid for my kids and family. And I came to The Bump to get a few moments of thinking about something positive. And then I realized the thread was talking about what I just saw on the news. And my anxiety returned, and my heart sank and now I'm crying.
Im such an emotional mess I don't even know what I'm saying. But I stand with you @krob and I also appreciate what @Spicyweiner said. I gotta go clean off my running mascara now. I just thank all of the ladies for withholding judgment, being allies and all the support around pregnancy and babies! This board is awesome.
just a note. some of us aren't able to live in a bubble.
That's not what I'm saying in the slightest. If you re read my statement, I said this place is my bubble, not that I live in one, or want to. Eta: I just read your response and I apologize if I came off harshly. I get what you are saying.
@fishymom mine just turned two a couple weeks ago. She would also like Minnie but she's really into stuffed animals and has a few bunnies that she plays with all the time. I just found this
@krob I have so many feels on this. The most recent bomber was Afghan, which is pretty rare as far as bombers in the US goes and we were just like "fuck". I can't even imagine the fear of having a black son right now.
I don't have a kiddo yet but I think my dog needs a Halloween outfit... just for me :-)
My bigger cat is using his velociraptor costume from last year. My sweet little cat is going as a reindeer because her little antlers make me squeal. If this is any indication of my dressing up this baby I'm totally going to be "that mom."
FTM, so no current kids to dress (my dogs refuse). I keep suggesting to DH that we dress up like Hogwarts students, and make the dogs be creatures from the films. Say, a hippogriff and a dragon? He is not for dressing up. Nonetheless, this may happen this year:
@Gretchypoo Yes to dog costumes! Last year, Lana was Yoda and some of the trick-or-treaters just about lost it b/c she was so cute. This one little boy/dinosaur was so excited he started kissing the screen door glass and Lana was on the other side licking the same spot. His mom tried to apologize (for dinosaur saliva on my door?) and I was thinking it was the highlight of my day.
@kswiger06 I saw someone wear that costume last year and I loved it!! And then I totally cried a little inside because I couldn't wait to be pregnant. I think you should totally do it! Lol especially cuz my husband's got a bit of a belly, too, now.
@srscott3 I think your or your husbands costume idea is brilliant!! I luv it.
I found this costume online which really made me laugh! My sister sent me a whole page of ideas for Halloween belly painting but I really can't get on board with doing that
I am late to the conversation, but I think the while thread stayed positive and compassionate. Hugs to anyone who needs them, and keep fighting the good fight of raising this new generation to be the change.

@yogadevil I'm totally THAT mom. We got our pup last Thanksgiving and we did puppy pictures with him on Christmas. He didn't mind the bow tie or bow but HATED the Santa hat-- it is still his favorite chew toy. The good news is it wore him out ;-)
Ok, this wasn't Halloween... And, I may have had to wait till he was sleeping to apply the hat and beard. But, I give you angry cat Santa (a.k.a. Jerry):
Soooo what are you guys dressing your LOs up as for Halloween?
DS wants to be a Minion.
I have a very close friend and SIL and our kids are all the same age so we tend to try to pick group costumes for them. The babies are 3 and the older are 6/7. We go to a community Halloween fest and they have won each year. This year we are doing ghost and ghost busters. Babies are ghost and older are the ghost busters. The kids all seem really excited! Last year we did 3 little pigs and big bad wolf and little red riding hood. It was so adorable.

Nevermind, I'd rather see all the nursery decoration talk and toddler costume ideas than bring up a topic that was several comments ago

It shows pictures of different paint colors in real rooms. You can even search for 'mint' or browse through the blues and greens.

Talk about pigeon holing.....
i will say one more thing and then drop it. lol
while these conversations are super difficult and i can understand being reluctant to have them, if we don't have them the problem just continues.
if if we always stay in our comfortable circles where most people are and think like us we'ok never get to progress.

+1 to police officers and their wives needing safe space too
+1 to this being a good and thoughtful convo.
