October FET buddies

Re: October FET buddies

  • @omarismyhomeboy that is why I can't POAS anymore.  I would be completely crazy.  How could i ever believe what is says, especially after a CP a postitive doesn't really mean positive and then what if a negative isn't really a negative bc maybe I tested a day too early. I would spiral out of control so I will be waiting until beta.

  • Hello everyone! I may be joining you all for an October FET but not 100% sure yet but want to try and get caught up with everyone's posts just in case.

About me: I have been diagnosed with PCOS and hyperprolactinemia (high prolactin), and issues with thin lining. After three unsuccessful IUIs (two ending in CPs) I had my second FET on 09/12 (first was a negative) and **TW*** while I had a strong positive beta on 09/26 at 284, the second beta only increased by 14%. I go back again on Friday to see what's going on but have started spotting and can see the writing on the wall. I have 6 frozen embabies left so will probably just keep trying until one sticks for good! I will have a discussion with my RE to see if she has any thoughts as to why these embabies don't seem to stick around for very long and possibly change up my protocol next time.

I look forward to getting to know you all and recognize some familiar faces. Hopefully October will be our month!

  • @omarismyhomeboy That is totally me after I POAS! It will be hard to fight the urge to want to test, but for my sanity I know it's not a good idea.

I am trying to remember how many days my doctors office has me wait until my beta.

How many days after transfer does your office do your beta?

  • @tcolechia my clinic makes me wait the full 13 days post transfer, but I think the normal is usually 9-10 days. I see you have been diagnosed with an arcuate uterus, me too!

  • @mtpbadger is your RE concerned about your arcuate uterus at all? Mine said it shouldn't be a problem. I was worried when I first found out about it and asked if he thought I needed surgery to correct it, but he said no. I have a friend who has a full septate and she has been having a hard time getting pregnant. She is looking into having surgery.

  • Both my RE and OBGYN weren't concerned about it at all and said it shouldn't impact pregnancy. My RE was originally concerned it was a septate uterus and would have recommended surgery if that had been the case. She said most women wouldn't even know they had an arcuate uterus if they weren't going through IF treatment.

  • Hey y'all- just got back from my lining check- it is at 11.9 so we are good to go!!! As long as my progesterone lab results get back that I haven't ovulated, then I am in the clear. I am nervous and excited. As soon as I get the OK, I will start the Crinone gel tonight..anyone been on this before?

I also wanted to mention to @tcolechia and you that I too have an arcuate ute! It didn't pose a problem with my IVF baby so there's hope

@omarismyhomeboy I have been on crinone. It's not fun. Gross and just a pain in the butt. I lie down for 10-15 to reduce the amount that comes back out. Just wear a liner and be prepared for some odd stuff. Lol

  • Hi Ladies,

I feel like it's been such a busy workweek for me that I've had no time to post... But I have been able to read your posts and am excited with everyone progressing closer to their transfers!

@tcolechia I was also wondering about PIO experiences because I've never taken it either.  For my fresh IVF cycle, I took the Endometrin suppositories.  I felt like they were alot of work and worry (having to lie down to make sure it stays in, worrying if it's running out, am I getting enough dosage, etc.) so that's why I'm trying the PIO for this FET.  The demo video I watched shows a women injecting herself in the bum, but I don't know that I'm that talented haha.  A friend of mine did them and said it was just too hard for her to twist and do it herself... She said you have to hold the needle in for about 15-30 seconds after to make sure it doesn't run out and that was just too hard in that awkward position, so her DH did the injections for her.

About the POAS stuff... For my fresh transfer, I swore to myself I wouldn't POAS.  Then I gave in and did POAS 3 days before my beta, which was 6dpt.  It was BFN.  I think I also took one the next day and it was a BFN too... I was sure nothing had worked, but then my beta was positive.  I had good high numbers for three betas, but then it ended in CP.  So nothing good came of POAS for me.  I had false negatives and they just stressed me out.  I'm telling myself I will not do it for this FET, but it may be a different story once I'm in that two week wait, haha.

AFM, I'm still in the midst of BCPs and baby aspirin.  I take the BCPs for about another week before my baseline US.  I am kind of dreading all of the upcoming social events I have in October... That involve drinking... When I shouldn't be drinking... But if I don't, I'm going to have to deal with questions... When I don't want to talk about anything with anyone because we keep this IF stuff private.  We have a Halloween party and two weddings coming up... Nice that my first day of PIO injections is going to be on the day of one of those weddings... and we'll be 45 minutes away from home for the wedding and reception.  I checked with my IVF nurse and she said to just do the injection before leaving for the wedding that afternoon.  I really didn't want to have to take it with us and have to worry about doing it for the first time out like that.

When do you ladies cut back or cut out alcohol during the course of treatment?  For my fresh cycle, I quit alcohol as soon as I quit BCPs and began stim meds.  I'm wondering if I should do it the same way again, or if I can get away with one drink during these upcoming social events if they're before transfer?  It would help to preserve my sanity and fend off questions as to whether or not I'm PG... Of course I don't want to jeopardize anything... I just don't know what's considered to be safe.  I feel like my clinic says to treat the entire medication process like you're PG... But I know other women in treatment who will have a glass or two of wine a week and then cut out a week before transfer.  Opinions and thoughts?

@joneser1281 my husband has been doing my PIO injections for me. We do them at 8:00 every night. I thought they were going to be really painful. I watched a lot of videos on YouTube and took a little  piece of advice from each one. What I have been doing that has been working well is  numbing the area first. I got numbing cream off Amazon called numb master. I let that sit on the area for about 1/2 HR before we do the injection. I cover the area with  saran wrap so the cream doesn't get on my clothes. Then I warm up the oil in the  syringe by putting it under my armpit until I'm ready to do the injection. After my husband does the injection he will rub the area for about 10 mins. Then I lay with a heating pad on my bum.

  • @tcolechia Thanks so much for all of the good advice!  I'd heard about women icing up their tushes to numb them... I didn't know there was such a thing as numbing cream.  Good to know!  Seriously, the things we go through.  Just thinking about it makes me mad at people who get PG without a hitch.  They don't have to give it a second thought and then there's you (and soon to be me) putting yourself through conception olympics every night with everything you do just to make a single shot bearable.  But on to positivity before I get on a tangent haha... Your transfer is tomorrow right?!  FX for you!  I will be thinking good thoughts for you... Let us know how it goes!  <3

  • @joneser1281 my RE says I can still have 4 or 5 drinks a week (not all at once of course) until transfer. He said it really won't mess with anything. I stopped drinking like 8 days before transfer though just to be on the safe side. Even when I was stimming I had 1 glass of red wine on 2 different nights, because we were at a big wedding with all our friends and I knew I had to have SOMETHING for the same reasons you're thinking of. And I had a pretty successful stim cycle so I really don't think it affected anything at all. My RE is less concerned about the FET- just that we have a HARD STOP on the day of transfer, obviously.

My advice is try not to drink but don't kill yourself over having a glass at a party or wedding.

Good Luck to ladies that have transfers this week!

Afm:  I had a fresh transfer ivf icsi in August that didn't work out. I have one embryo frozen that we are going to use for transfer sometime this month..  I go in for an U/S on Sunday to check my lining. I have been taking estradiol 2x per day since Friday.  Boy have I been having vivid dreams.  Has anyone else experienced that? Also, my RE will be doing assisted hatching. Has anyone have any experience with that?

  • @omarismyhomeboy Thank you for the drinking advice!  I hate bringing that up because I know we would all give one of our arms to have a baby so it's not that I can't stand not drinking... That doesn't bother me at all.  It's the not drinking in social situations that I can't handle because of the questions and/or speculation I have to deal with.  Really though, both of the weddings I have to go to are too close to the transfer.  The first one is only five days before transfer (so if I'm going to quit drinking at least a week in advance...) and the other wedding is two days AFTER transfer, so I definitely can't drink at that one.  That's going to be the toughie because it's going to be all work people, none of whom know that I'm going through IF treatment and DH wasn't invited.  Only people from work were invited, without spouses.  Ugh.

@tcolechia Yay!  Thinking good thoughts for you!

  • Hello! I guess I'm a little late to the party. I stumbled upon these boards today and was hoping to join in. Here's my story: my first round of IVF ended up with four blastocysts that all tested abnormal with CCS testing. With our second round, we now have 5 chromosomally normal embryos and we are planning to transfer just one at a time. My FET is scheduled for this Wednesday (10/5) and I am both nervous and excited. I'm cheering for all of you ladies!

  • @joneser1281 and @omarismyhomeboy someone posted in another thread.. get a "vodka" cranberry or "rum" and coke. As long as hubby is the only one heading to the bar for you no one should bother to question. Or stick with water and say you had just too much the night before with someone else you can't stand to have another drink.

Welcome @vic311 looks like this is a busy week for a bunch of us here.   :)

  • @joneser1281 i worry about that too, i have two left and i am betting everything on these two thawing for transfer but what happens if i drive all the way in and they dont make the thaw?? back to square one.  my first FET i had no issues it even kept the same grading before and after the thaw but am i putting my eggs all in one basket expecting the best situation?  Ugh things are becoming real again since i got the call about the time...1130est on thursday :)

does anyone know the statistics on thawing? how many dont make it?? i think that is the only thing i haven't googled in the entire process :( . . .off to Dr Google i guess

  • Had my blood work and US today, lining is at 6.6, the ultrasound tech said its looking the best it has so that's a positive. Going back on Monday for re-check! Praying this month will be it! Congrats to the Pupo ladies! Great to hear your first embie survived the thaw @omarismyhomeboy, I hope mine will too after three months of preparation.

  • Good luck tomorrow, @vic311!!!
