We're set on our names, as soon as we decided to try we came up with them. DH was so darng stubborn about DD's name it took 7 months for him to agree to my first pick which was Audrey. A boy is Charley Wayne, Charley after DH's grandpa and Wayne after my dad. We don't like the name Charles though, but if he grows up and thinks thats too "nicknamish" he can go by Wayne. A girl will be Charlotte Noelle, I've always loved the name Charlotte and it goes well with Audrey. Noelle was the only other name DH suggested so we went with it.
We know baby is a girl and thankfully only had a girl named picked out. We are going with Kenna Marie. Kenna is a name a heard years ago and loved and as far as I know no one around has used it. And Marie is actually from the Aristocats, my all time favorite Disney movie. And as an added bonuses we will share the same initals. Mine growing up was almost the same ago my mom's and I ago sways lived that little extra bond, plus she will be the only girl with 2 older brothers.
We are thinking Liam for a boy. William is a family name, but we like the name Liam. So question for all of you, (I know Liam is actually a nn of Uilliam but humor me because it works for William as well) do we name the kid William and then tell everyone the nickname we want? That way the kid has the potential to change his nn if he doesn't want to go by Liam when he is older. Or just name the kid Liam because that's what we would call him anyways?
I'm imagining the birth announcments to read: Welcome William "Liam" middle name last name
Maybe this baby will be a girl and then I don't have to worry about using the name William.
We are also going with Liam for a boy. It is a stand alone name and actually really common right now. My name is Meghan which I think was originally the short form of Margaret and I think it's evolving in the same way as Liam from William. If ours is a girl it's either going to be Eleanor or Madeline. DH won't talk about middle names until we find out the sex. Older sister is Sarah Faith.
gosh i've loved reading this thread. there are some great names in here!! love love poppy and penelope. penelope was on our list but poppy wasn't.. it may need to make an appearance
so far we are at boys: Nicholas, Mason, Everett or Linus girls: Alice, Amelia, Molly, Penelope, Casey, Evelyn
@mcdonald-bailey I agree, I much prefer Liam! @Phil413 yes I've been hearing it a lot lately! I know people just use the name Liam, I'm now contemplating it because I would like to name (if it's a boy) him after my grandfather William, and I'm not sure Liam by itself really does that?
@CanadianintheSouth FWIW I really like William. (Liam would be a grea nn.) It's a really versatile name that your kid can really make his own if he needs/wants to.
We just like it because it's soft but also masculine and both of us have Scotch/Irish heritage. DH also has an Uncle Bill that just passed away. At first I was a little put off that it's ranked number 2 but since we like it so much I decided that I really don't care. DH doesn't at all. I have a rather common name and never cared.
I'm having a middle name dilemma if we have a girl. I gave DD1 my middle name. I really like that we share middle names. I just don't know what to do if we have another girl. I am leaning towards also giving her the same middle name so it can be a little bond between all of us girls, but I didn't know if that was odd or if I should maybe give her my first name as a middle name or a form of my husbands name (Like Andrea for Andrew) so the intention is similar but not the same. My middle name isn't after anyone in the family so its not a tradition or anything. Thoughts?
@kristenc01 I know a family where I am that had 2 girls and gave them the same muddle name. They adopted another little girl later in life, and that was the only part of her name they legally changed, so she would also have the same middle name. If my husband and I have more than one boy, they will all have my maiden name as a middle name.
I think we are going to go with Sam if it's a boy. It's a nod to both the Bible and Lord of the Rings, and my husband and I are big fans of both, lol. I'm debating about the longer version "Samuel" and then nicknaming him Sam... DH wanted to go full-nerd and do "Samwise," but that is technically "simple" (stupid) in Old English so, no. Stuck on middle names for Sam... maybe Wolfgang for something spunky or Everett for something softer-sounding between a first and last name heavy on consonants.
If it's a girl, I used to really want either Lily or Evelyn. Now both seem so overdone! I don't think I can do it. I'm leaning toward "Annabeth" since "Anna" is my middle name and from a long line of women in my family, "beth" is a nod to "Elizabeth" (like Bennet/Pride & Prejudice, and the queen, and lots of other cool ladies), and the Hermione-character in the "Percy Jackson" series is named Annabeth (so my husband and I will think of our daughter as a smarty-pants without giving her the full-nerd Hermione name). And she can be "Annie" for as long as she'll let me call her that (another subtle pop culture nod, because we both love "Father of the Bride" too). Our last name is 3 syllables, though, so Annabeth would probably have to be matched with a short name so she isn't loaded down in sounds. I like "Joan" a lot (family name on DH's side, plus Joan of Arc is a bamf) or "Hope."
I was afraid to post these earlier... didn't want to jinx it. DH and I have fought about names before. But last night he admitted that I should get a heavier say in naming dibs because I'm doing the hard part of growing and birthing the baby. Thanks, morning sickness barf and eventual scary labor! lol

Mine are pretty traditional but we're sticking with mostly family names. Patrick Christopher for a boy and Catherine Ann (used as a double name) for a girl. The last 3 generations of women in my family have all been Catherine so that was a non-negotiable.
Catherine Ann is beautiful! That name ages well, is classy, doesn't affect employment opportunities, has plenty of nickname potential ("Catherine the Great," for starters), and is all-around awesome. I may be very very biased as a Catherine Anna, though.

@EnglishTeacherMama i like Samuel Everette! NI personally don't think Lily is "too" overdone. It's in the 50, but not a top name like the Emma, Olivia, Sophia group. But! I do think Annabeth is lovely!!
We have had our names pinned down since before my first pregnancy. We planned ahead so we could just say, "these are our names, and we don't really want your opinion. DD is Catherine Lin (fn after my mom, mn for his mom).
Had she been a boy it would have been Asher Crosby, and we are sticking with this name if this baby is a boy. Asher is a family name on DHs side, and Crosby is my maiden name. Colette Ann was our second favorite name if we had a second girl last time around, so we will use it if we have a girl this time around. Part of the reason we are sticking with both names is because they are names I had shared with my mom last time I was pregnant, and with Colette, she had picked a nickname that we could (and will be) use. Ann is also the middle name that I share with my mom and her mother. My mom passed away unexpectedly when I was 22 weeks pregnant with my DD, so it's nice to have the names have a connection to my mom.
The middle name for our baby girl will be Evelyn for sure (named after my Grandmother) and so far for first names we have Kara or Leah. Nothing set it stone yet except for the middle name....my husband is Russian so I thought he would prefer Russian names but he doesn't so fine with me! Our last name is kind of complicated so I definitely want a shorter first name that is easy to pronounce.
@dubcompanion I like Arya too- I thought about it also but DH wasn't really on board. What if its a boy, any ideas? Jamie, Tyrion, Eddard, Jon, Sam....the options are endless in GOT world!
@Spartanrd4 We have our boy names set, but we're keeping those secret! (They're REALLY traditional, lol. If I'm pressured enough, I'll share them. But most likely people will see them and be like "Cool story bro.")
I read the "You-neek" baby name thread and was crying, literally tears pouring down my face at the suggestion of one name in particular. That thread was a riot. 10/10 would recommend reading.
I read through the "you-neek" list too and started off laughing and ended almost crying.... What is WITH the periods in the middle of names?!?!? like a normal name like Oliver but spelled Oli.ver If anyone can tell me a reason for that other than how it looks, I'd love to know. As far as I'm concerned, your just setting your kid up for a lifetime of puzzled looks when they have to correct people by saying, "oh, there is actually a period in the middle." Like, what?!?!?
@julievdm12 I believe the periods are so that if someone Googles the name, the thread won't show up and the unsuspecting parents/unfortunate child won't realize people are mocking them.
@dubcompanion I agree, it was wild from start to finish! I lost it at the suggestion for EGGSAVIOR. WHAT?! I'm typically on "whatever floats your boat" team but that is where I draw the line.

OH ok! And here I thought the reason would be dumb....
My husband's family has a tradition where the first boys name starts with the letters Ch- and the middle name LeRoy. Since everything from Chad Chuck Charlie Anne Chase has been taken and it's really important to him we came up with the name Chandler LeRoy Moreland for a boy. Our girl will be Alayna Rose Moreland.

I love your names! I will say you probably want to change your post and screen name to omit last name because of internet creepers.
If it's a girl, she will be Noelle Margaret. If it's a boy, no idea lol. We had a hard time with boys names first time around too and I would up literally just yelling out a name after my traumatic delivery and that's how we got a Jesse Bernard.
