Guys, I was gone for one day and can't catch up! Went out to dinner last night for H's bday to a place on the water. Long story short, my phone ended up at the bottom of the Chesapeake bay. I'm now the proud owner of a brand new rose gold iPhone 6S.

Whoa whoa whoa wait a minute! People actually post pictures of their MP??? I know I shouldn't be surprised, but c'mon!! That's like me spreading my legs and taking a picture of my twat and asking if you guys think I'm dilated!!!
I saw the video of the gymnast breaking his leg, and I think the only way I was able to watch it, is it looked fake, like when Harry Potter lost all the bones in his arm....then I remembered it's the Olympics, not the movies, so it was filmed live, then the EWWWW came out of me, so of course hubby was all "what what" and I made him watch it. I think he threw up in his mouth, which made watching it worth it lol.

Hahahahaha! This made me laugh so hard.
Also, on the broken leg, Harry Potter's arm is exactly how it looked!
Heading to my friend's baby shower next weekend and the invite says to save paper and not wrap your gift.... But I want it to look pretty! Any ideas for wrapping alternatives?
@bnsmith85 - Maybe inside out grocery paper bags? Comic strips from the newspaper? Definitely not the obituary section, though..haha. turn a big plastic bag inside out and sharpie it to death?
I may end up doing that because the blanket thing might be tough. I got her three different things of varying sizes so they'd be tough to wrap with blankets, now that I think more about it. I know how to make bows so I could always make a nice big one.
You guys, this is gonna be my only baby, and only time I'm gonna be pregnant (we are one and done) and I'm thinking about doing maternity pics even though I said I didn't want to! Now I need outfits.
Also bnsmith85, buy the bunting!!! I just got a Columbia one from Amazon.
We just got home from our tour of the birthing center. Does it make me a bad mom that I'm upset that they got rid of their nursery? I don't think I'll mind him being in the room with me, but if I have a particularly rough delivery, I'd prefer him to go to a nursery so I can be rested for him.

Not at all. I think the whole "baby friendly" model they have in hospitals now is bullshit.
Buy a cheap tote or reusable grocery bag and put the gift in it like a gift bag. Then the mom can use it for whatever later.
Heh in my family gift bags get reused until they are dead, same with ribbons and bows. My mom was so poor they would *save the wrapping paper and tape* to reuse... but we stick with the stuff that doesn't rip.
@bnsmith85 Ugh, that article made me ragey. Thank goodness my son is old enough to take care of himself so my husband can be in the hospital with me and help. Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks it's stupid. Lol
@krzyriver Right?! A friend of mine posted it on FB and it pissed me off too. I mean, imagine how those who don't have a good support system and a tough birth manage.
@krzyriver I don't like it either. I would like the option to send him if I need to at night, but ours has been eliminated too.
@rainmira9e we do this too- bags, tissue paper and bows. I have an aunt who used to save paper and threatens to use it on gifts for me I'm happy to report that yesterday's shower gift was wrapped in new paper!
@ibabyloveb87 I gave up on dinner. I'm having ice cream. Haha
I got part of my Halloween costume today. Still don't know what we are gonna do, or where we'll be (probably just answering the door for trick or treaters...) But behold......
@books&icecream I love the swimming in the Olympics! I grew up as a swimmer, so it's always one of my favorite events. Watching Katie Ledecky right now, she just amazes me.
lol @bnsmith85! I saw babies dressed as burritos on pinterest and they are soooo cute! I'm still pissed at DH because he refuses to dress as Khal Drogo. I even got him the wig! All he has to do is grow a beard and stache and be topless. I dunno how gung ho I'll feel about dressing up, but we shall see!
@LGW2015, It was a toss up between something HP themed or GOT themed. This was justt easier to pull off because the costumes were cheaper!

Maybe this is a UO, but I FULLY support rooming in in hospitals. I agree it is ridiculous that a nurse wouldn't be able to help you bathe the baby (if there's a tub available to you, there's one available to her, no?) but taking a newborn who just experienced trauma and shock and putting them essentially by themselves is pretty cruel. Initial bonding is so, so, so important! That teeny tiny person has NO idea what's happening and the only emotion they can really feel that early on is fear, so it's REALLY important that they learn mom is a secure comfort. I am fully aware I am going to be exhausted and at my wit's end, but it's one of those things you kind of just have to get through, like the labor itself. I will reiterate: a nurse refusing to help is completely inappropriate. If that is a true story, that woman had every right to complain. ETA: I'm not judging. The research is pretty new but it's mind-blowingly consistent. Culture is always slow to adapt but soon this will be as normal as the belief that women should have the right to vote. It is also important to point out, while initial bonding is very important and definitely ideal, OBVIOUSLY the health of baby and mother are more important.

@LauraPCOS As your labor buddy, I request that you do NOT do that. Lmao. I'm not modest, but I do have *some* boundaries.
i like that idea @ball4768!

They're almost as fun as the "am I in labor?!" posts
