I have a question for BTDT moms - what type of undies do you need after giving birth? I'm planning on vaginal delivery, but as you know plans change, so are different undies needed if you end up having a c-section? I've seen talk of the mesh undies they give you, but I'm assuming I'll need to bring some too.
@LauraPCOS I have only had vaginal births- my underwear advice is big ol' granny panties that can accommodate large pads, and/or icepacks, with a moderately high waistband, preferably in black so leaking and staining isn't too much of an issue.
@krzyriver Time Warp?! I don't know what happened, but it's blowing my mind... especially since it's possible many of our multiple mommas and early October girls may end up delivering sometime NEXT MONTH.

I plan to wear these maternity granny panties I've been rocking. I won't care if they get ruined PP and can just toss the ruined ones once the bleeding stops.

@LauraPCOS I just brought regular cotton underwear and used the pads they give you (and put the witch hazel pads on top of the pad). I only had a second degree tear so it wasn't too bad and I think I only kept using the pads for the week just out of caution. I know some of my friends have brought along depends just in case. It's really not a bad idea especially if you end up tearing worse.
I had a c-section and still wore the mesh hospital undies and granny panties. C-section mamas have the same type of PP bleeding, so you still need to accommodate giant pads.
@AllyTheKid Oh man, it's even scarier when you put it that way!! I'm Oct 9th and most of the women in my family deliver their first at least two weeks early if not premature.
I've just been wearing my regular bikini cut panties... pushed down under the bump. I literally called my mom and asked her wear she gets her high waisted panties because they've always looked sooooo comfortable, I just never liked the style. Lol. I figure I'll need them after I drop and the bottom of my bump rounds out. So I'll probably stick with those PP too.
I'm an awful daughter tho, cause I really wanted to call and ask where she gets her granny panties, but I figured she wouldn't appreciate that. Lol
@krzyriver your more sensitive to your mom then me mind you she's been kinds on my short list. I called her yesters while st walmart and asked her where I locate the old lady undies. I'm a mean daughter but I hate walmart so I was annoyed.
@Laurapcos What @AllyTheKid said. But, make sure you tell the nurse that you're out of mesh underwear the day you're discharged (even though you won't be because you'll be hoarding them). That way she'll bring you more. I brought home two or three packs and wore those until they were gone. I had more bleeding than usual (for longer than usual - yay) and that's all I felt comfortable in.
Once they were gone, cheap granny panties all the way. I threw them all away once I was recovered.

Ya I knew about the bleeding still (has to come out somehow right??). How do you protect the incision though? So your panties aren't irritating it.
@LauraPCOS I had a c section with my last one and I just bought the really high waisted, up to my belly button panties to keep them far away from my incision. The incision is really low, so granny panties are definitely high enough.
@LauraPCOS I wear my normal undies (Hanky Panky, which have a ton of stretch) all through pregnancy and post-partum. Boy shorts are more comfortable post-partum than the thongs. A great help for a c-section is to have extra pads and tape them over your incision for the first few days after surgery; the protection will be very nice if your undies or waistband hit in the wrong place (or if you have overly enthusiastic pets). Also, don't be afraid to ask for extra mesh undies if you prefer them.
For the cake-loving icing-hating UO ladies, RUN to Wegman's and get their cake with whipped cream frosting. It's amazing, not too sweet, nice and light. Pairs especially well with their strawberry filling and vanilla or marble cake.
@LauraPCOS I just bought a few packs of Hanes cotton briefs from Target. Those worked well and they were cheap enough that I didn't care if they got ruined.
+1 for belly button height granny panties and hoarding the mesh panties. I wore them I think
until I got my staples out, then I switched to the high waisted ones for
a while.
I'm a c-section momma and anything even remotely low would bother me. What sucked for me is that it lasted for several months while my scar healed up, and even still sometimes certain panties on certain days will irritate it 7 years later.
I do have to say though I think the bleeding depends on your doc; mine cleaned me out really well before he stitched me up, which was a godsend so I didn't have to deal with a preemie in the NICU, major abdominal surgery, and then bleeding like crazy on top of it all.

@MRSCORKER - All this talk of panties reminded me that I wanted to ask you about those fold over Motherhood panties you mentioned having in a previous thread.
I bought some in XL (I'm generally between and L and an XL in their pants). They fit okay in the waist, but they're really baggy in the butt. Now, I don't have a donk or anything, but it ain't small either. Are yours baggy in the butt? I'm wondering because I don't know if I should exchange the ones I haven't worn for larges or just return them.

Mine aren't when I first put them on but they do get a little baggy as the day goes on.

This is definitely a confession but I will forget by Thursday.
We had an ice cream social for the seniors last week. There was some leftover ice cream so I put it in a container in the freezer. I decided that today was a good day for ice cream for breakfast and made myself a big bowl. And then my boss walked in (rarely ever comes to my place) so I hid it because I didn't want to share. LOL!

@sjo_thetwins I'm hoping you make it to next month too! I'm implementing a "NO Birth Announcements until September" rule, going into effect right meow. Let you uteruses know, ladies.
I think we should start a labor buddy system though! I saw one on another board and that way you have one gal to report to if you go into labor so that she can update the board. How you choose to (text/private message/etc) is up to you but it seems like a good idea! We just need to get a thread together to pair up! Thoughts?
@krzyriver Maybe you'll be the exception and keep in LO until your due date! I'm not banking on making it to mine (8th), I'm getting early vibes from this one already. LO was two weeks early, and this being my third I just don't see my poor, worn out body holding onto him the whole time haha
I know this was mentioned on a thread last week, but I still can't get over the fact that the April '17 board is up and running. We'll all have 6 month-olds by then!! Whaaaaaaat?! Crazy!
Got a sneak peek of my maternity photos! We're going to do another one soon with normal clothes and my DS too. No, I'm not made of money...I'm extremely lucky and have a sister who is a photographer and does my sessions for FREE! Been feeling huge and very unattractive lately. This session definitely brought me back to the beauty of being pregnant.
@Mintz1982 Normally I would've just blurted it out, but she's put up with a lot of my whining over the last 7 months. So I decided to be nice. I might blurt it out later tho. Lol
@AllyTheKid Oh man, that would be lovely. I'm imprient for this pregnancy to be over, but obviosuly I want to make it to term! I don't know tho... I've had some preterm labor scares, so I'm setting little goals right now. Lol. But maybe we'll both be pleasantly surprised.
@emmaaa, @AllyTheKid, @MRSCORKER - thank you guys so much!! We had a blast doing the shoot. At one point, a HUGE dog came running straight at me and I pictured myself being knocked down and covered in mud...luckily, he ran straight past me. Would have made a memorable shoot!
