I've been looking everywhere for a long off-white or white dress for maternity pictures & have thus far been unsuccessful. I would prefer strapless, one shoulder, or v-neck. I like the bohemian/beachy style but a little more formal is ok too. The only ones I've found that are even remotely what I like have sheer skirts with super short slips underneath... Don't like that look at all. Anyone have any suggestions on where to look for something that matches this description & is reasonably priced? Maybe our resident fashionista @annabenanna?
To keep things truly random around here, does anyone have breast implants?
I'm considering looking into it after this second (and last for us) baby. And, while I know Google is my friend, I thought why not pose the question here.
I'm totally clueless on the subject. Do you have to have "upkeep" surgery every 5-10 years? Because, that's not ideal.
I've never heard of needing to have upkeep surgery every 5-10 years, and live in LA... land of plastic. My best friend has had implants for about 5 years and they still look fabulous. No plans for upkeep surgery. I am on the opposite of the spectrum... my boobs are giant, so as soon as we're done having kids I plan on having a reduction and lift.
I can't do a reduction because if I do, my shoulders will look huge. Lol. But I definitely plan to have a lift. I've been planning that since I was 23 and lost my 80lbs. My DDs sagged bad after that weight loss.
I'm really behind on this thread and still have several pages to read, so maybe this was addressed later, but... Breast lifts are a thing?! Why did I never know this?? I was a 34DD pre-pregnancy so NEVER wanted implants, but now I'm something like a 36G which will only get worse when my milk comes in. I am completely worried they are going to deflate and hang to my belly button!! I might just look into this
@chriscasey33 I'm in the same situation as you! I'm only 5ft tall as well, and at my last appointment I was measuring 2cm small so my OB ordered a growth scan. My lab work is all normal. I feel like that's crazy because my belly is huge, but maybe my belly on a taller woman would look small? My OB was very chill about it and seemed very confident that baby is fine, but I just can't wait to see that little guy and make sure he's growing ok! Monday can't get here soon enough...

FX for normal growth scans. Why must it all be so overwhelming? I had a good breakdown after work where DH just listened to me cry and freak out.

Can I join this club? I'm only 5 feet tall too and I am definitely not feeling huge. I still feel like I don't even look pregnant (just slightly fatter in the belly than normal). Maternity clothes still kind of hang off of me. I've been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and have now lost the 4 pounds that I'd gained due to the GD diet. And yet . . . at my last OB appointment a few weeks ago, the NP told me I was measuring 2 weeks plus 2 days ahead. WTF??????? That sounded like it COULDN'T be right to me, but of course I freaked out because one of the biggest risks of GD is a big baby. So she sent me for a growth scan a week later . . . baby is measuring on the slightly small side of average (35th percentile or so) and is perfectly fine. Gah! All that stress for nothing. I have an OB appointment on Monday and it will be interesting to see what she says about how I'm measuring. After the last debacle though, I'm completely ignoring that they say about fundal height. It's growth scans or nothing.
Good luck at your appointment on Monday!

I decided to go and get my hair done last night (braided with a weave). 10 minutes in I was questioning my decision, hah. I haven't had it done since October and so I guess I was feeling brave. It looks great but it was a brutal 2.5 hours.
On the plus side, I don't have to worry about washing/brushing/doing anything to my hair for like three weeks!

Yay for short mamas. Going into this I just assumed I would become weeble-wobble status at 12 weeks. I will definitely try not to stress on the fundal measurements! Glad your little one is looking great

@Kaessi, remember those two dresses that I was picking from for my wedding? And everyone picked the beachy bohemian one? It's still sitting in my closet unworn. If you wanna try it on, I'll send it to you (seriously), because it looks like a parachute on me. lol.
BUT for particularly boho ones, I found www.fillyboomaternity.com Haven't ordered there yet though. There are also some cute ones on etsy:
@annabenanna Check it out, here are some ladies who are shorter than us
Yah! The Shortie club! My OB has been measuring fundal height, but hasn't said anything...so I'm assuming this was just one of the measurements she needed to take. Had no idea it had something to do with tracking growth etc. How is that reliable? Seems like it could depend on so many factors!
@simcal18 - My doctor doesn't even measure fundal height. She says it's too unreliable.
I didn't know how I felt about that at first, but seeing your post makes me glad she doesn't!
My doctor does but they said they don't rely on it too much. Two appointments ago, she said I was measuring pretty far (like 4weeks) behind. But as long as I was growing, it was a good sign. At my most recent appointment, I measure only a week behind and they said there is no cause for concern. They would only order a growth scan if I wasn't progressing.
@Kaessi I tried on this dress from Motherhood. Can't seem to find it on their website, but it was really pretty - just a bit too snug for me. (You can't see the bottom but it just ends like a maxi)

@annabenanna Aww I knew you would come through - those are exactly the kind of dresses I'm looking for! ANd you are so, so sweet! I LOVED the dress you were considering for your wedding but I'm pretty sure I'm wayy bigger than you, so how big of a parachute are we talking? lol
I just go the blue screen of death on my work laptop. A very small, irresponsible, part of me was hoping that my computer just wouldn't work for the rest of the day and I could relax instead of working. I turned it off and then back on and it got up and running just fine
@AllyTheKid, i was looking for Halloween costumes on pinterest and found this...and reminded me of the epic Goblin King haircut picture you posted months ago!
The past two nights I've had to wake up a million billion zillion times to pee. Before then, it would only be once a night, maybe twice. Two nights ago it was five. FIVE! Last night it was either three or four times. Grrrrrrr!
Every time I get up I think "just practice for Baby, I guess," and then I think "NO! I refuse! I'm gonna let that baby cry!" Which I won't, but I might glare at him a little bit while he eats...
@bamacoop I have been getting up at least 4 times a night since super early on (now it's up to like 6 times a night). I keep telling myself that my body is preparing for the baby to wake me up lol
@bamacoop@emmaaa With you ladies on the constant peeing. It has resulted in very shallow sleeping. I've been waking up 3x a night now just to pee. Cannot win!
@emmaaa@annabenanna It's the worst! And then in the morning, DH has the audacity to tell me how tired he is. Step off, buddy! You got up zero times last night! Imma kill you!
@annabenanna@SpaceBurger Oh. My. God. The kids STILL haven't let that go either haha Everytime DD and DS watch the Labyrinth they say "Look, it's you!"
I'll just be Jareth for Halloween, and LO can be Toby. I'll used some of FI'S rolled up tube socks for the extravagantly over emphasized package haha We'll find a character for the whole family!
Edit because somehow my phone added a tag in the middle of a word?
@annabenanna I love it, but I'm afraid my boobs would never, ever fit, unfortunately. Perhaps one of them might...but not both, haha! Thank you so, so much for the offer though!
I told my mom that I was going to dress up my LO for Halloween and go out (with one of my gf's and her 2 year old). My mom was like "you're not taking my 2 week old grandson out! You can leave him at my house!" No matter how much I tried to explain that I would have him dressed in something warm, and it's with my gf and her 2 year old so they won't be going out very long, she wasn't having it. I seriously think this woman is trying every tactic to steal my baby.
My tone deaf neighbor just said "Damn girl, you look you're having twins!" I'm actually proud of myself because I told him that it was a mean thing to say. He didn't understand why so I told him he's basically implying that I'm twice as big as I should be. He goes "i have 7 kids!" I said, "then you should know not to say that shit to a pregnant woman!"
