@tusername and @FatPony - I am so so sorry. After such hard work and mental energy, I think losses are that much harder for us than for other people. Sending lots of hugs.
@AugustAng - I hope they have some answers for you at your appointment and maybe another cycle would have different results? My RE said that at 38, basically 1 egg in 8 was normal, so maybe now that you've had several abnormals, the normals are coming next :-)

AFM - something very interesting happened to me tonight. Just chilling in my condo (26th floor) and an all white pigeon flew onto the balcony. I tried to scare it away since we don't want bird poop all over and when I knocked on the glass, it flew to the window of our second bedroom, which would be our future baby room. It stayed around and was not afraid at all and I honestly felt like it was looking right at me. I know white pigeons are often used for ceremonial released and can be more tame than the typical pigeons but I've never seen one around and the timing seems very fitting. I usually don't believe in signs but this one is a little too odd not to ignore.

@lilmissslp I had my ER on a Wednesday and really turned the corner on Saturday. That Friday at work was pretty uncomfortable but bearable. Hopefully this weekend will bring some relief!
I'm hoping my little birdy friend makes another visit! Happy Friday all!
@cmm012 Yes! OHSS is so terrible. So sorry you suffered as well. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Spent all day Sunday - Thursday in bed sick as a dock that could barely move or breathe. So happy to be feeling a bit more human. Your post really helped me push the chicken noodle soup more so thanks for that!
@mrsmoten313 Congratulations!!! So excited for you!
@lilmissslp We were so surprised too! Still waiting to see how many are good quality. Should hear back tomorrow. Exciting. Congratulations on your 16 eggs!!
@ConstanceGoodspeed I hope that too! Not sure I would be willing to do the ER again any time soon (but let's see how many eggs make it to days 5-7 before I say that!).
Hey ladies! I know we'd mentioned baby showers and how hard they are for us to attend. I've got one this Sunday and I'm not sure what I want to (or should!) do. I've already got the gift and have been planning on going. This friend knows about my struggle. My beta is the next day and I'm 99.9% sure it'll be a BFN so I'm already down in the dumps about that. I was telling my acupuncturist about the shower and she asked if I *had* to go. When I think about going I already start to get emotional. But I feel bad and selfish not going. What would you do??? Btw, this friend also struggled for years but ended up getting pregnant naturally after her doc told her IVF wouldn't work.
@kyrgyzshan baby showers just plain suck. If you feel like you have to go, Could you maybe get there a little early and tell your friend you'll stay for a bit but might have to leave so she's not wondering where you went. Or let your friend know you are sad to miss it but would love to take her out to lunch/dinner and give her the present then and enjoy some quality time together? I don't think you are a bad person or selfish at all, you need to feel however you are feeling and take care of yourself at this tough spot in your journey. I've bailed on plenty of events when I know I wouldn't be able to suck it up and fake it around a lot of people and yes, felt a little guilty at the time but it was best for keeping myself sane. Good luck with whatever you decide to do and FX that your beta is in the .01% of how you think it's not going to go!
@kyrgyzshan I agree with @mtpbadger. If u think u won't feel up to going just be completely honest with ur friend. She will know how u are feeling having gone through the same struggle. If ur feeling down at the party that will just make her feel bad for having asked u to be there. I think the private lunch sounds like a nice idea and who knows maybe u both will have some celebrating to do together? FX!!! I also thought I was going to have a bfn....but ended up with a bfp, try to stay positive.
@Sunflower5678 - that's a great number of eggs! I forget - will you be doing FET or fresh? looking forward to hearing the updates on how many got fertilized, etc..
@kyrgyzshan - I would hope that this friend, with both knowing about your struggle and having struggles of her own, would completely understand if you decided not to go? Does she know that your beta is on Monday? I like the PPs suggestion of maybe doing something just the two of you at a later date to celebrate instead. Or, go and give her your gift but give her the heads up that you will/may be leaving early if things start to get overwhelming? Good luck with whatever you decide!!
Thanks @heidis1. I'm ready for that! Pants are uncomfortable lol.
@kyrgyzshan If just thinking about it makes you emotional then you need to trust your gut. I love the idea of taking your friend to lunch and doing a low key gift exchange. Showers are so hard because all the convo and decorations and games are centered around babies and it's just thrown in your face. Best of luck with your decision. Do what feels right for you.
Im at high risk for OHSS so im drinking a ton of water/gaterade. I feel super bloated, gained 4 lbs since this morning and let my RE know. I'll weigh again the morning...wishing, hoping, and praying I don't. Listening to everyone's stories about it, it sounds awful.
I agree with the suggestion of maybe taking your friend out to lunch/dinner instead. I'm sure she will understand and that way you can have more one on one time with each other. Fingers crossed for you! @kyrgyzshan
@Sunflower5678 Keep drinking that Gatorade. Salty foods and protein are your friend. I hope you feel better tomorrow. Monitor your breathing. If you can't take a deep breath, call your doc.

@cmm012 thank you for the suggestions. I've dropped 1.5 lbs since I first got home yesterday. So I hope that's a good sign! I've been peeing like crazy and drinking lots! I'm finally feeling like eating more today I think so I'll increase the protein. Breathing seems to be okay...just very bloated still.
@Sunflower5678 Losing weight is a great sign! The day 2 days after ER were the worst for me. I didn't lose any weight until maybe day 3 or 4. Still feeling really bloated, but the worst is hopefully over for me. (I had my ER this past Sunday).
The staff at my clinic were very happy to give me prescriptions for things that would keep me comfortable (pain medicine and nausea medicine). If you're feeling too uncomfortable try calling and seeing if they can adjust something for you.
Congrats on those numbers @Sunflower5678! GL with embryo development and your transfer on Wednesday!
@kyrgyzshan If it were me, personally, I would not go to the shower. The older I get the more I realize I can make decisions that are best for me, and I don't need to put myself in situations that make me upset or unhappy. I like the suggestion of taking your friend out privately, and that is exactly what I would do instead rather than expose myself to a very painful social gathering. GL with whatever you decide to do!

Hey Ladies, just a quick check-in after my BFN a few weeks ago. I am doing a little better. Just trying to regain my emotions and mind. I have started seeing an infertility therapist, am doing yoga, and have had some great 2nd opinions. I am not jumping into a new cycle, but taking the time to heal before starting injections again.
I have written a spiritual post about "in the mean-time" and when God is saying "not yet." What do we do when this is our new normal and it doesn't look like it is going to change anytime soon? I hope it helps if you are interested. He is not Angry, Absent or Apathetic.
Congrats to all of the BFP's and to all the ladies suffering another loss, I feel your pain. We can do this together!

My lining is 7.4 so transfer is scheduled for Friday (the 22nd). My RE looked at my chart and saw my previous two cycles - both resulting in live births - my lining was also in the 7's. Not the suggested minimum 8. Maybe that gives hope to someone. Still has me anxious though.

I've been having a tough time. My back is hurting like crazy and I'm worried about sitting in the car for 5 hours to drive to the transfer next week and laying on the table. Also I lost my voice, got a horrible sore throat, and cough which is killing my back even more. My acupuncturist cancelled my appointment for Monday, which was my last appointment before I had to drive on Tuesday for ET on Wed. Then on top of all that my sil had a concussion a couple months ago from hitting her head on her car door and now apparently it's flared up and we can't stay with her. That was our place to stay so we'd be close to the clinic and *tw* our childcare to watch DD. The clinic is in Seattle and apparently there's 2 conventions so everywhere is booked and they're expecting 4,000 people to come to the city which means crazy traffic in a city that there's already crazy traffic. Thankfully we got a room on a bid on Priceline 15 min north of the clinic (that's without the traffic) and fil is supposed to take the ferry from where they live to come and get DD. But I'm worried that with all those extra people he may not get on the ferry in time depending on what time our transfer is and DH would have to miss it. Trying not to stress....it would help if I didn't feel like crap.

@cat4151 Sorry to hear about your back/throat/etc. Definitely plan to stop a couple times on the drive over and get out to stretch/change positions so you don't get too stiff. (longtime Ortho RN here, specifically working with spine patients).
I live in Seattle. Not sure what events you are concerned about, but 4k people shouldn't mess with traffic here much. Sounds like a big number, but my commute from West Seattle to downtown is on a road that has over 100k vehicles over it every day. Also, for your FIL, the WA state ferry system does a great job keeping people updated on when the ferries get backed up or what the wait time is, so if he keeps an eye/ear on that he should be OK to get whatever boat he needs. Especially midweek.
Sending calming vibes and light traffic thoughts your way

@PNW12RN thank you! It's so frustrating. I've had back troubles off and on for years and when it flared up I started going to the chiropractor right away thinkin it'd be better by transfer time, but it's just not healing like it usually does and my pain level is at like a 7 today after weeks of tx and stretching/icing etc. I don't know what the events are, I just know that every single hotel in the area had no available rooms when I was looking, so I contacted the travel agent for my clinic and that's what she told me. Thankfully we did get a room in Northgate which should only be about 15 minutes to Lake Union if traffic's not crazy. We actually moved to Spokane from the Kitsap Peninsula 3 years ago. The ferries are great, but if you're driving on, which he will be, sometimes it can be backed and you have to wait a couple hours esp in the summer. As long as my transfer isn't first thing it should be fine. I guess I'm just already anxious so then I start worrying about worst case. Thank you for your logical words (when I'm thinking emotionally) I feel better.
@ConstanceGoodspeed I used to live on the other side of the state and that is the office where I was successful. That clinic has since opened a location about 25 minutes from where I am now and that's where I do my monitoring. I didn't want to do my transfer there since it's a new location and I was successful at the other one (guess I was being a little superstitious), but since this is our last chance I didn't want to risk it. Also my clinic has you be on bed rest the first day and take it easy/modified bed rest the next two so we figured we'd go stay with family to take care of us. Thank you!

@cat4151 My RE is 2.5 hours away one way and it kills me. He is the closest one and luckily I love the office. I can't imagine 5 hours away...you are a rockstar! I hope you start to feel better!!
I had my first PIO injection this morning and DH did a great job. I did not find it painful at all. I was prescribed thinner needles for the administration, so maybe that's why.
I'm starting to feel nervous/excited about Friday. It's hard to believe this could all be over soon.

@Sunflower5678 Wahoo, that's a great number!!!

thanks everyone!

The staff at my clinic were very happy to give me prescriptions for things that would keep me comfortable (pain medicine and nausea medicine). If you're feeling too uncomfortable try calling and seeing if they can adjust something for you.

Sending calming vibes and light traffic thoughts your way
Chemo killed my ovaries (along with a BRCA1 mutation, which causes DOR)

@ConstanceGoodspeed I used to live on the other side of the state and that is the office where I was successful. That clinic has since opened a location about 25 minutes from where I am now and that's where I do my monitoring. I didn't want to do my transfer there since it's a new location and I was successful at the other one (guess I was being a little superstitious), but since this is our last chance I didn't want to risk it. Also my clinic has you be on bed rest the first day and take it easy/modified bed rest the next two so we figured we'd go stay with family to take care of us. Thank you!
