I feel like my second tri energy is all gone.. I am exhausted literally all.the.time. I adore my job, but I just want to take a day off and call in tomorrow.
I completely agree! The second tri boost did not last long for me at all. I could nap every single day if I could. It's been wearing on me and luckily I have a fair amount of vacation owed to me so I booked this week off for a quiet stay-cation. Best decision I've made in a while!!
So i don't know if we all get the same "articles" in our home page of the bump...maybe it's the same if we are the same weeks along...anyways i noticed this bump "article" today titled "Top 10 Things They Should Warn You About Before You Get Pregnant" (i guess this includes a link to the article)...but i'm more thinking WTF Bump, i'm 23 weeks along now, don't you think you should have shared this article with me sooner...like when i was on here TTC?? I've been pregnant before so these things aren't a big shocker...but i just think the timing of showing this article in my feed is a little off??
@erinmarie86 as a FTM, I couldn't help laughing and nodding along as I read this but I get what you mean. If I'd read this before I got pregnant, I would have probably thought, "nah, it won't be that bad". And, sadly, it is, it really is. I'm 100% convinced people are just being nice to pregnant women when they say they glow. I most definitely have not glowed once, with the exception of oily skin and teenage acne.
Just had my 24w appt. MIL is visiting from out of state, so I invited her along so she could hear the heartbeat. I also took DS1 with me and he got to help with the Doppler. He was stoked!
Next appt I have to do the glucola drink/blood draw, Tdap and Rhogham shot. Ugh.
But after that, I'm already on biweekly appointments!! It's going by so fast!
I think we narrowed names down to Ruby or Eliza. I just want to pick one already, but DH is all "we have plenty of time, we'll figure it out". Whatever.
@seitzy3 Yeah, the ads are back on the website too. Grumble.

Ladies, if you are into stand up comedy, I just watched Ali Wong: Baby Cobra on Netflix. She was pregnant when it was recorded so part of the routine is dedicated to pregnancy. You may get a good laugh at it, however it isn't for the easily offended
Thank you all for the continued thoughts and prayers. He had surgery on his jaw and leg this past weekend. The driver was drunk and is currently in jail.
@RedMar ugh what a jerk! I have no tolerance for drinking and driving. Me and my mom were hit by a drunk driver and it was a horrible experience. My little brother used to do it and try to hide it ...I talked him into getting an apartment where he mostly goes out so he now walks pretty much everywhere. I'm that bitch sister who would take his keys the next day and wouldn't give them back until I fully grilled him and made him late for work.
@RedMar that is awful. Prayers being sent for a speedy recovery for your student. I don't know why it's so hard for people to call a cab or an uber when they've been drinking
UGH!! I just got a text from my friend. We were at her house for her son's birthday party on Saturday. Turns out one of the other kids there had hand, foot and mouth. I want to smack the mom of the kid, because during the party while the poor kid cried the whole time, she said "he's warm, I think he has a fever." If your kid is not right, stay home!!!
We just went through this in Oct when my friend brought her daughter to my daughter's birthday party. She had a fever and spots around her mouth, but my friend insisted she was teething. Let me just tell you...this hand, foot and mouth was no joke. My youngest daughter refused to eat/drink for several days because of all the sores in her throat. My older daughter lost every single finger and toe nail. And her face was covered with blisters. I'm praying that we avoid this. It was the worst!
@LizC216I'm so sorry you had to go through that and are having to worry about this now. It is no fun! I often wonder if people are in denial, are that selfish, or simply god forbid, are that ignorant when raising a child that they don't know to keep it home when sick and not infect anyone else.
I know you don't want to upset your child by not going, but come on be sensible!
@LizC216- Ugh! My sister's twins had HFM a couple years ago.. it was miserable and doesn't even sound as severe as what your kiddos had. Fingers crossed that Patient 0 kept it to herself.
I'm taking my sons baby clothes to the consignment shop today. I keep getting all weepy about it. It's bittersweet to not use his baby clothes again.thats just nb-9m his cousin still has the rest
@LizC216 Ugggg as a FTM I don't have any experience with HFM, but a friend of mine's son caught it last year and I remember it being so horrible for them -- hopefully you guys are in the clear!!
My random: I FINALLY felt a whole bunch of movement on Sunday night!! Until then, I had felt a few things here and there, but I have anterior placenta so it's been tough for me to feel anything so far, as I'm only at 20 weeks. Sunday evening she was kicking around like crazy for a couple hours, it was awesome!! It continued yesterday, and even though yesterday was a horrible, crazy stressful day for a few reasons, feeling those kicks in there throughout the day made it so much better.
Question, I'm going to try to find the heartbeat with a stethoscope tonight (we have a few at home, as we're both in medical fields). I read that you can usually start to hear it with a stethoscope at around 20 weeks.. has anyone else tried this yet and had success?
@lovelylauren86- with baby boy #2 on the way we've been going through clothes too (only newborn - 3 months so far, the quantity of 6 months+ is just insane)... I'm still feeling a bit weepy. There are outfits I can't wait to put him in, and outfits that were just SO "Emmett" to me that I am having a hard time thinking about reusing them (that thought will be gone after a couple blowout diapers and outfits changes each day!)

Is it bad that I secretly can't wait for my husbands first blowout diaper? I can just imagine the look on his face and it cracks me up every time!
@lovelylauren86 me too! Trying to figure out what to donate and save for new baby.
@AnnaS930 I was that way too with Deklyn. The girls were born in the same season so I could reuse almost everything for Cameron. I would pick up outfits and know exactly what we did that day when she was wearing it. Turns out cam is a lot chunkier then D was so some of those outfits don't even fit now. She is 13 months and in 18 month clothing
@seitzy3- glad I'm not alone! I already put Emmett's "going home" outfit into a shadow box with his little card of info, hospital hat and bracelet, so we won't be re-using that. I think the rest I can reuse, but unsure about holiday outfits.. like baby's first Christmas, etc. BUT on second thought.. would be pretty cool to have pics of both of my boys in the same outfit (and still buy baby #2 his own!) hhahaha
@LizC216 I hope your girls don't end up with HFM again. When I worked in childcare, HFM was the virus I hated the most. It's just so contagious, hard to contain, and looks very painful. Keeping the infected kids home is the best way to keep it from spreading, but I think some people don't realize just how bad it is until their child has an outbreak in the sores.
Regarding baby clothes, I still need to go through DD's. I plan to just tackle NB-6 months before DD2 is born. I'll purge some clothes, but not many. Both girls are/will be September babies, so everything should be reusable. I remember packing up her clothes the first time and hoping I'd have another girl so I'd get to use them again. I can't wait to see them all hanging up again!
@LakeR2014 All blowouts ended up being passed to me, so they weren't that great regarding DH's reaction. However, newborns have this way of projectile pooping when the diaper is off. The first time he got hit with it was the best.
@AnnaS930 I've thought the same about holiday outfits. I'd like DD2 to have her own, but how cute to have pics of them both in the same outfit? I'm thinking I'll reuse them prior to the actual holiday, but buy a new outfit for the actual day.

Exactly what I'm thinking. It's cute to wear Christmas jams leading up to the day... also we celebrate Christmas 3 times with different family groups, so lots of outfits will be perfect.
I'm actually have flashbacks to Christmas cards of my sister and I (2 years apart) wearing matching Christmas jams in front of the tree. I'm so excited for all of us about to have multiple little ones at home!! And those with their first! And those who already have multiples and are having more! AHHHHHHHH! I'm baby crazed!
@SLou24 I'm 23 weeks and have tried for two weeks to hear the heartbeat and both husband and I have been unable to hear/find it. I am plus sized so that might have something to do with it. Good luck!!
my random this morning. Husband was in Vegas this weekend for a bachelor party. He came back yesterday and since he partied all weekend, we were both asleep before 10. Since he was gone, I've been going to sleep before 10 every night. I'm so well rested I woke up at 5 and have been considering/wanting donuts from the shop up the road but I can't decide what I want more. Donuts or NOT putting clothes on. This pregnancy thing is hard. Lol
@SLou24- I also have a stethoscope at home and was never able to find the heartbeat last pregnancy. I can't remember how far along I tried.. but just couldn't seem to nail it down. I'm a pharmacist though, and only use my stethoscope to take blood pressures so I'm really not an expert (and have a maybe $100 Littmann stethoscope). Hope you're able to find it! I haven't tried this time.. but might just for the fun of it. Don't get stressed if it isn't there!

This makes me so excited! This year we will celebrate Christmas with both of our daughters! And I'm totally doing yearly photos in front of the tree in matching outfits.
@camichael84 - I scoured FB for an example from the 90s of us growing up. Couldn't find a matching one, but how about coordinating jeans, Santa hats and turtlenecks?? hahahaha, Sister on the left (age 5), me on the right (age 3). I'm sure your girls will bring you years of cheer
@Thscary YES, Ali Wong is hilarious! I wasn't expecting much because I'm pretty snobby when it comes to the type of comedy I like, but she was amazing. I watched it by myself, and I totally want to make DH watch it with me. I was laughing so hard the whole time.
Just got an email that my bursar account had a balance, which it shouldn't, so I freaked out that I owed a bunch of money but oddly my account was negative! Hello refund!
@megan324 Unexpected refunds are awesome! I got new maternity pants with part of my tax refund this year.
I went shopping for cribs yesterday with my MIL and found one! It's now ordered and should arrive in mid-July. Whoo hoo! I am thrilled to have that part straightened out! It's a beautiful vintage grey, I hope we made a good choice.

Aw you just got me all excited for when the time comes on this board that we get all the, "Heading to L&D" posts!!!!!
@MrsVoorhees - I didn't enjoy that time as much last run as I should have. I was due Dec 3, and once my due date came and went and I was still pregnant I became a little irritated with all those with due dates after mine heading in and having their babies (basically I was impatient and selfish). This time I am more relaxed and hoping to be more accepting of going past the estimated date and just enjoying everyone bringing their babies into the world
Just getting caught up here...I haven't checked in since Friday.
- Yesterday DH and I stayed home from work and painted the nursery. It looks pretty good. The area rug we ordered should come by the end of the week so I will post some pictures soon. - Saturday night DS whacked his head into my nose really hard - it made me cry. I am surprised that it never bled...it was a very hard hit. It is still pretty sore today and I have had on-and-off headaches since it happened. However the swelling is minimal and there is no bruising (I once broke my nose and had hardly any swelling and bruising - my nose is weird) - I went to a birthday party for my husband's 2 year old nephew. My BIL's MIL (make sense?!?) asked me how I was feeling with the pregnancy (very common question) only to interrupt me and go on-and-on about all the horrible symptoms her daughter, who is due around the same time I am, is having with her pregnancy. I don't think this lady realizes how obnoxious she can be.
I'm curious how we're going to organize labor and deliver posts when the time comes. Are we each just going to have our own separate thread? A daily birth thread? A thread where everyone just checks in? I mean we have lots of time to figure it out, i guess I just don't know how it all works
I just met with HR about maternity leave and was pleasantly surprised! I thought they had stopped offering short term disability (since I couldn't opt-in during the last enrollment) but apparently, they just made it automatic for everyone without taking out a portion of our pay. So I'll be getting 6-8 weeks of short term disability pay while on leave - which is better than the $0 that I was expecting and planning for! Wahoo!
@PoodleDoodleOoo - I was lurking on May '16 last week and I like how they did their L&D posts. They made one sticky post and everyone announced on their. They asked that no other comments be made on that particular thread (congrats and what not) so as not to clutter it. But I think women made separate threads as well if they wanted to. The one sticky was just nice so that at least they were all in one spot. Reading through those got me so excited to be at that point again!! I can't wait to meet these two!!
edited to say - That's awesome! It's always a nice surprise when you end up getting paid when you thought you wouldn't!
My OB clinic just called to confirm my long awaited a/s for tomorrow afternoon! Crossing my fingers for no surprises at that appointment.
Also, my fiancé has managed to coordinate his work day to join me tomorrow for the ultrasound. I love watching his face when he hears the heartbeat on the Doppler so the ultrasound should be fun as well!
Agreed with @UnwritteN12- this is how we did things on Dec14 and it worked well, of course the sticky had a few extra comments than we intended but it was just a bit annoying and no big deal. Did a sticky where people would say "Baby born September 1, at 9am. 8lbs 0oz, 20 inches long. Mama and baby doing great" and usually included a picture. Love Its encouraged, hopefully no comments so you know when something is in there it's a birth announcement. Then mamas did individual threads that included whatever else they wanted to share - full on birth stories, more pics, etc.
Re: May Randoms Thread
by the way, what the F is up with these stupid advertisements now while scrolling through the threads. NOT a fan bump!
I'm on mobile- is it like that on the website?
