Any of you ladies gaining weight in your face yet? Whenever I gain weight- it always shows first. So now.... I've got my chubby face. Ugh! Why do I have to be so vain!???
My random of the day (and most likely TMI but sorry too happy ) is that I had an orgasm during sex last night for the first time since BFP!!!! It's a miracle! I know it's been mentioned by others but my sex drive since pregnancy has been 'eh-whatever' and even more to the no side because apparently my region goes all Sahara desert on me when it's time to boogie and that's just not fun. But last night DH really stepped up his game and it was glorious!!! (If I knew how to gif there'd be major applause gifs for DH everywhere).
So regardless that its down pouring today and went from 80 and sunny yesterday to 40 today, it's going to be a marvelous day. Happy Friday ladies!!
@marikkita12 sorry to hear this- how frustrating! My father, who is a raging alcoholic, is so anti-drinking during pregnancy it's crazy. He also smokes, but keeps it outside. It's crazy what the difference is between generations! Hang in there and you have every right to limit visitations with your LO!
i usually don't scare too easily but the past two days baby girl hasn't been moving like she normally does. I mean it's significantly less movement. By now, she has times during the day where I'm used to feeling her and then poof, nothing. I have an appointment on Monday morning and I'm trying not to worry. Maybe she is in a growth spurt and is sleeping more these days
@lovelylauren86 Seeing your pic reminded me of the damage my toddler can do. Then I started wondering how much worse it will be once she has a partner in crime...
@marikkita12 Sorry your evening went that way. I guess I don't understand his thinking. Would he have caused a scene if you'd chose not to drink because you just didn't want a glass? Or maybe he just doesn't want to believe your mom did things during her pregnancy that could have been dangerous? Either way, I hate the thinking "Well, we all turned out okay!". Because, no, YOU turned out okay. The ones that didn't aren't here to say otherwise. The guidelines and laws have changed for a reason. Again, sorry you had to deal with that, and I hope it gets better for you after your mom talks to him.
@laker2014 Woo-hoo! Not TMI. Amazing sex can make my day (or several days) as well. What a good way to make a Friday even better!
@marikkita12 I am very sorry about your dad. I just don't understand how some people in this day and age could really be so ignorant as to the affects of smoking and drinking. Both my parents smoke and my dad is an alcoholic. They no my stance on both and I really don't give them a choice anymore, I put my foot down and leave. Maybe if you got up and left every time he smoked he would get it? but from the sounds of it probably not, so people just don't care and maybe you will have to separate yourself more from him in the future for the welfare of your baby.

@seitzy3 I went through the exact same thing last week! I started getting really paranoid, but now LO is swimming around all happy again, so like you said, maybe a growth spurt? Could also have just been really active at night when we were asleep and lazy during the day. Either way, I'm glad to hear your baby girl is noticeable again!
@seitzy3- some days the movements are much more subtle than others.. and babies are sleeping something like 14 hours a day. Very possible little one is subtley squirmy while you're snoozing and not much during the day. Those are the days I like to have some cold juice/caffeine and lay on my side when I get home just to make sure. Thinking positive thoughts for you, but trusting that all is well
I'm starting to get a little bummed out at the end of every meal. The 2nd tri appetite is out of control. I wish I could eat all day. It's my favorite thing.

THIS! geez, I already was the type of person who never felt really full BEFORE I was pregnant. Now it is out of control! My husband and I will eat the same amount of food and he will talk about how full he is afterwards and I am over here like more food please.

Thanks ladies! I just made myself a cup of coffee and ice water (she usually jumps around after a nice cold glass of water) so we'll see if she wakes up.
@TheTamedShrew my appetite is also ferocious. I think I'm eating around 6 meals a day. Some definitely smaller than others but I noticed I'm going food shopping more these days too. I am a terrible meal planner so I just go to the store and grab everything I can.
@kosmo86 I have left my husband in complete awe lately. I can out-eat him by a long shot. I am never full. I wasn't like this before at all, I would never be able to eat more than DH without getting sick. Now I get finished and I'm embarrassed by the amount of food I consumed and the fact that I STILL want more of it.
@TheTamedShrew I am so hungry too, especially during the work day, that vending machine has got a work out from me. Yesterday I tried to be healthy and got a big salad and was starving after so I had a hostess cupcake, some fritos and a two chewy bars before dinner time...
After my a/s on Wednesday H and I had a great dinner of an amazing bacon cheeseburger. After that I exchanged my clothes my mom had bought me at Maternity Motherhood, and they were having a 30% off 100 or more sale and buy three shirts get one free. So I had to get more and am loving these new work pants, pregnant and still stylish. Their 'ankle' length is the perfect 'petite' length, very hard finding petite/short length in maternity.
@RedMar@camichael84@kosmo86 thanks ladies. The frustrating thing is that if I had just said no thanks and not given a reason, none of this would have happened. Even when my mom and sister pointed out that I'm not a drinker and wasn't before I got pregnant. I felt really bad for my husband because he's just sitting there while we are fighting in Spanish and when we speak fast he only gets about 1 out of 5 words. I'm so glad he was there though just because he's always a calming presence.
@tamedshrew me too! I had a Jimmy Johns sandwich for lunch this week and a we were leaving I seriously considered grabbing another one as we left to eat when I got back to my office. The only bad thing is, I totally don't want dinner. It takes me forever to eat it and I have to force bites. Suuuuucks.
@jhems776- dressing to fit my pregnant body (and non-pregnant) makes me feel so good, I walk with new confidence and I think that helps even more. I'm with you on needing ankle length pants - 30 inch seems to be a good full length for me.. short legs over here!
I was just looking through my phone for a pic from a month ago and OMG my bump was TINY! I haven't participated in HDBD for a few weeks now, but I gotta get one up there and compare it to last pregnancy. I'm coming up on 24 weeks and I think my bump is similar to my 34 week bump at this point. Really excited for my appointment next week to get measured and see where I'm measuring in terms of fundal height (not that it means much, more for curiosity)
@AnnaS930 HDBD I love looking at everyone and yep totally guilty of not posting. In some defense I haven't taken any pics since week 17 whoops. Monday is my ticker change but I swear I will take one tomorrow so I can have a week 20.
We have a crib! Or will tonight... it's on hold at Target right now. We can't fit it in our hatchback without putting the seats down, which means the carseat can't be in there. DH is going to go get it after he gets off work tonight. Now we just need to start getting the stuff out of the spare bedroom so we can paint and start the process of turning it into a nursery!
@camichael84- I was so excited that the dresser arrived yesterday, I had to leave it on the front porch because the box weighs something like 125lbs. My husband got home at 1030 last night and came in through the garage.. I totally forgot to ask him to bring it inside! Luckily it's still on the porch (the porch is covered thank goodness) and it didn't rain overnight. That could have been ugly!
My belly got compared to a yoga ball last night. I was talking about how much I wanted to be able to lay on my stomach and here comes DH with "I can't imagine that would be comfortable....all I can imagine is you laying over one of those yoga balls, but your belly is the ball." He is damn lucky I love him and can find the humor in this. Had it been anyone else, I probably would have cried. As it is, I've been giving him a super hard time about it. Payback....
In other news, DS and DD had their kindergarten performance last night. Everyone was so cute!! They performed "The Little Red Hen". It's so funny to me that those two are so completely opposite. DD started out fine and ended up getting a little embarrassed so she was somewhat hiding behind a friend of hers. But other days (when there isn't a crowd of people), she's pretty outgoing. DS on the other hand, was in his element! The more people the better so that he can show off. They were up on risers, DS was on the very top row and, of course, he's the one that gets pulled to the front of the stage because he's screwing around and about to fall off the risers. That's ok because I think he just thought, "Oh, everyone can see me now....let's play it up!".
@UnwritteN12- The things you say about your twins, if I didn't see they were coming from you I'd assume they were texts from my sister about her 4 year old twins. The boy/girl personalities and differences are SPOT ON, too funny!
DH and I picked out paint colors for the house last night! We're planning on doing quite a few (small) renovation projects before the baby comes including painting the living room and bedrooms, getting new carpet for (nearly) the whole house and cosmetically updating the bathroom - refinishing the tub, tile and vanity, and then repainting to a bolder color.
DH has been dragging his feet on actually doing any of the work. He's all talk and no action when it comes to house projects! But last night we finally picked out four color samples for the bedroom and living room and will hopefully get it all painted by next weekend! It seems like such a small baby step, but at this point ANY step feels like a huge leap towards progress I'm excited to show off some before and afters once it's completed!
Is anyone else tackling any home reno projects that just need to be completed before baby gets here?
@PoodleDoodleOoo- we've got a few reno projects (some that revolved around baby.. moving guest room to basement to make a nursery upstairs), and some that are really not baby related but I'd like them done before he comes. We've also just re-mulched all of our gardens and are changing out some wooden edging for stones soon. Lots to do! I love keeping busy before baby arrives, makes the time pass quickly and I know how tricky it is to get things accomplished with a newborn!
So, is anyone in favor of a weekly randoms thread? To make it easier to keep up with?
Also, I was never under the impression, and I hope no one else is, that you have to read every single post and reply to each one. I definitely read what you ladies share and do my "love its" when warranted but I didn't think replying was the custom etiquette and I hope no one else feels that way either! It's just for what it's called, sharing randoms.
I think a weekly thread will add 3 more threads to the board each month, but I don't think it will increase the activity elsewhere on the board. I'm totally content with the monthly randoms but if people want to switch to weekly that doesn't bother me
@PoodleDoodleOoo There's an increasing chance that we may be moving in late June/early July, and the place we will be moving in to will need some reno for sure!! Paint nearly everywhere, and probably re-doing the floor in the bedroom. It'll be a lot of work which scares me at this time, but I'm hoping it works out because I think it'd be a great move for us!
@mom2adoodle I like the monthly thread, but can get on board with whatever. I will say, I still don't really see how switching to weekly will help people keep up. It's still going to be a busy thread that you get behind on by missing a day or two. Which is why I'm with you... if I get behind, I skim, love-tit, then move on.
I don't think weekly will change anything. What I do think we should try to change is posting questions to new or different threads. If what someones posts on here anyone feels maybe it should be a it's own thread try to say so and then for that person to create one.
That felt rambling, no weekly, and tell each other when a post should be made into a new thread instead.
I do the same, especially on my 3 days at home each week when I'm mobile bumping. A lot of the time it doesn't give me permission to post so I just read what I can and start back the next day.
I like monthly, and I definitely don't feel the need to reply/comment on everything! I just comment where I'm interested/have something to say, and throw some Love Its around, but I don't think there's any pressure to do more than that!
My random is that for any ladies in the Boston area (I think there are only a few of us on here), there's a HUGE consignment sale at a local high school gym this weekend. I just saw the page for it on FB and now I'm super excited to go check it out. Apparently there's tons of stuff and they have everything from clothes (newborn to kids), to toys, to furniture, strollers, etc. Woo hoo!
@mom2adoodle - I like the super long randoms thread, but I'm not opposed to a weekly random thread either if that makes the most sense the majority of the board. I also agree that I never feel like I have to respond and a lot of times I don't since I don't have anything to add to a person's situation or advice to give regarding a question.
I do think that we, as a group, need to be a bit better at recognizing what can and should be it's own thread. I know I've debated between starting an individual thread and just posting it in randoms, and went for randoms because I really just wanted to get quick insight from a few people and didn't think I needed to call attention to my concern/question/comment in its own thread. I think we should start (politely) calling out others and possibly starting threads based on topics that come up here that we feel could benefit from being its own thread (even if we weren't the original asker/topic-bringer-upper, if that makes sense).
@PoodleDoodleOoo(and I think someone else? Con't remember now...) I think that's a sensible suggestion. There are definitely things I've thought about for posting separately vs. on Randoms, and it should be pretty easy for us to try to transition more things out to the general board as they come up.
I mentioned it in FFFC, but I also don't care if we do monthly or weekly (although I was the one to suggest revisiting the idea if it helps). Either way, missing a day (or sometimes, and hour ) can result in a big backlog, but it always makes me happy to see that big number. It means we want to talk to each other!
Also, do you think we should create a poll on the weekly vs monthly randoms debate for the whole board? I realize a lot of members might not respond or have their voice heard because we're talking about it in the super long randoms thread that is just too long to read and I don't want to exclude them from this topic. It is everyone's board, after all.
(just go ahead and hit love it if you agree and if I get quite a few, I'll create the poll)
