It's a thread where we post 3 random things relevant to us that day. We can share something about us, something bothering us, something we are excited about, something that is happening that day, etc. @Themaritimemama. Btw sorry to hear about your family!!! In Canada?

  • That pb cup sounds amazing. I made a target run this afternoon and bought pb cup ice cream and pb cheerios. The cashier said "wow.. someone likes peanut butter" and I just smiled and said "oh yes we really do!" Rubbing my big old belly. We both had a good laugh. Yum.

This might be TMI, but I felt terrible today and I thought that something might be wrong with the baby. I was driving home from the store when this intense pain started coming in waves. Being a FTM I thought "omg, are these Braxton Hicks contractions? Are these real contractions?!?!" Turns out I just really had to poop!
Lol the "contractions or poop game" I played it often last go around

@Themaritimemama sorry to hear about your family. Hopefully they find peace soon, those wildfires look crazy!!

@jennm- I agree with the others- hire some help! Ain't no shame in a little merry maid game ;)

Guys I am so so beat (as if that ridiculous saying up there wasn't enough of an indicator). We have had events going on this entire week after work and I feel like I can't catch my breath. Tonight we attended a CPR course that was nearly 3 hours long :-0. It was so worth it though as I feel confident if I'm ever (God forbid) in that situation. I won't have a chance to rest this weekend bc I'm taking 40 kids to the city and it will be an all day, 17 hour trip. Yikes.
  • @JennM205 My DH is the same in some ways- he insists on doing a lot around the house, but there are certain things he does still slack on. This week he's been pulling overnight shifts, and I've been working a lot of extra hours too so it's like our apartment is slowly getting messier and it's making me nuts! And I won't have more than a day off until the weekend after this one. :/

  • The show 'The Last Kingdom' has become something of an aphrodisiac for me in a curious/disturbing way. Apparently I have a hot spot for the medieval? I just hope DH doesn't catch on...the mocking would be relentless...

  • Ooh that sounds fun then, @mom2adoodle !

Yes, in Canada! It's pretty crazy out there. They don't anticipate returning anytime soon so they made the trek across Canada to come back here (Nova Scotia). The nice thing is that we haven't seen her in a while, so this is like an impromptu vacation :)

@RedMar ughhhh CPR training is soooo long but def worth it. I always do a re-cert because I would keel over if I had to do an 8 hr one all over again. Your weekend sounds crazy! What are you doing?

  • I wish there was a flip I could switch in my brain where I stop judging myself based on the number on the scale. I had such an amazing day yesterday with my husband and son, and didn't even eat beyond my normal amount, and yet the scale goes up this morning and I start scorning myself for eating a cookie and some ice cream yesterday. Ugh.

I logically fully know that the scale must go up and that my body just seems to gain 40 pounds while pregnant whether I eat all lettuce or all cookies, and the healthier diet is beneficial to me and baby even if it doesn't slow the increase on the scale. It's just hard.

@Themaritimemama we are headed to a few museums and out to a nice Italian dinner. It's an annual trip I take with my high schoolers, but this year my number has doubled and I'm less mobile ha. Hoping it will be smooth sailing and the rain will stay away!

@annas930 I feel the same way. I have eaten fairly healthy this whole pregnancy and I'm still gaining substantial amounts of weight. I'm hoping my metabolism will be the same as last pregnancy bc it melted off.
  • That's my strategy, @PSUBecky23   My doctor and her nurse even know I don't want to know the numbers. It just is easier on my mind. I know for some, the mystery could be worse, but as long as I'm not putting myself or my baby in danger, not knowing the number helps me for sure!
  • Random of the day, my boobs are already rather large and they're starting to look rather porn starish. Not ready for that. Broke out the comfy, totally unsexy nursing bra today.

  • @UnwritteN12 Awwe, your coworkers sound amazing!  :)

@PSUBecky23 @Sporty1216 I admire your ability to avoid the scale.  I wish I could do the same but I think I'd obsess even more by not knowing!!  Though, at the same time, I KNOW it'd be good for my psyche to not know what I weigh.  I step on the scale every morning and, sadly, the little number that pops up has waaaay too much impact on my mood for the day.  I swear, there have been days where I have just been so irritable and grouchy - I take a step back and ask myself why I'm in such a mood and it's always like, "Oh yeah, the scale."

  • Thanks for the support, ladies. I know I shouldn't care so much - and I certainly don't practice what I preach. I always tell others not to worry about the numbers and just grow a baby, but can't seem to convince myself of the same. I'm realizing that next week's appointment is with a nurse practitioner instead of my OB, so I highly doubt that anything will be mentioned weight-wise regardless.

Umm, did I just write this!?!  I seriously get so hopeful before I step on and then either feel like I'm on top of the world or get super irritable depending on that damn number. I did this last pregnancy and looking back told myself I wouldn't do it this way again because I had the most amazing prize at the end of it all and lost the weight easily. Yet here I am, repeating history

  • @camichael84 - I love lilac!! My parents had a huge one in their backyard back home that filled the yard with it's smell. I don't see them a whole lot down here though.
Way to go to your hubby too!!

  • @UnwritteN12 My parents had a huge one in our front yard when I was growing up. I remember in the Spring, getting off the school bus and going straight to the lilac when I'd get home. I loved that thing, and always knew I wanted to plant one as soon as I got a home of my own. I thought I'd killed one of my two the first year, but it's doing great and I can hardly believe how big it's getting already.

I can imagine a lack of lilacs in Texas. I could be wrong, but it seems like it would be the wrong climate for them.

  • @PSUBecky23 I had planned to plant mums the fall DD was born. I bought them maybe a week before I went into labor, but then they stayed in their pots and died because I never got it done. Hoping to be more active with things after this LO is born than I was my first.

  • @Kimmyschmidt - definitely a typo - thanks for clarifying for me :)

  • @JennM205 - that's hilarious. The chocolate chip cookies are essential - 2 year old bribery and adult-escape/reward for survival.

Speaking of lilacs!  My city has a lilac festival that I'm going to today! It's one of my favorites
@Megan324 I think we're in the same city!   If so, enjoy it the weather is supposed to be gorgeous! :)
  • One of my co-workers brought me a huge plate of cookies and brownies an hour ago leftover from a funeral repasse (I work at a church)...I've already eaten 4 cookies and 2 brownies. Someone please stop me!!!!!!!!!!

Lilacs are my absolute favorite flower and my favorite scent!! I love the time when they're in full bloom, walking by a huge lilac bush is like heaven to me. My mom always had them surrounding our yard when I was growing up, maybe that's why I love the scent so much. A park in my town was supposed to have a "lilac day" last weekend but they were nowhere to be found yet... now that it's warmed up this week they've finally started to bloom! Yay!
  • @UnwritteN12 your co-workers sound amazing! And here I am sitting at work alone with a group of 45 people because my lame-ass boss called out and gave my co-worker off! So I'm stuck covering the front desk alone, sprinting for bathroom breaks and nibbling on snacks until the group leaves between 1-2 pm so I can get some real food!

  • I love lilacs! We have a big bush of them at our apartment but I've barely been home to enjoy them the last week, and this week is no different! I'm dying for a few days to just relax but no such luck! I'm working a 6 day stretch this week, with extra hours every day since my staff all bailed on me.

The scale- I weigh myself every morning but I don't get down on myself. I just do it to keep myself in check, make sure there's no random gain of 5 pounds in a day or weight loss. I was on Weight Watchers prior to getting prego, so I had to make my peace with the scale a long time ago.

  • I'm also in the camp of loving lilacs and the smell of them. I'm north of @SLou24 and ours are not yet bloomed, but should be in the next couple of weeks.  Unfortunately I HATE fake lilac smell (candles, body washes/sprays) so I only get my favorite smell for a month each year... but it's so worth it!  We have a magnolia tree in my yard that doesn't do so well (I don't think it gets the light it truly needs.. again, I'm in the frozen tundra that is Maine), but the lemony smell of the flowers is divine.

  • Note to self - It's called the sciatic nerve, not the butt nerve.... And yes, it's starting already.

@SarahDarah333 - I kind of just want to smack your boss. I'm sorry it's rough for you right now. Just remember..."4 more months and I get a break! 4 more months and I get a break!"

  • I'm way late to the game here, but I'm seeing this month's siggies for the first time. I am dying!! You girls outdid yourselves this month. Also, I feel like there must be a story to the tattoo family, and I kind of want to know what it is...

  • I just walked to the bathroom and could feel buttcrack sweat (I'm not even overly warm.. just my toosh I guess). I remembered I was wearing khaki capris that are very obvious when wet. Luckily when I got to the bathroom mirror and spun around there was nothing to see on the back of my pants... BUT I wore these during my last pregnancy on an especially hot day and there was a noticeable dime sized wet spot at the top of my crack where the butt sweat was showing. LOL, try not to be jealous of how glorious my pregnant life is!

  • @AnnaS930 I am so with you on the butt sweat.  Some days, it's enough that I have a mini freak out and am sure I must be bleeding.  Wearing panty liner has been sort of helpful, but obviously it's not exactly in the same spot.  Luckily no noticeable wet spots yet, but I'm really glad I won't be working over the summer to worry about it!
