@allen4tl I was found to have pre-e at 36 weeks with DD and I was admitted to the hospital immediately. Pre-e can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of hours. When I was admitted my BP was around 150/100 and within a couple days I had a couple spikes of 185/115. The only symptoms I had were a headache and I had gained 8 lbs in a week from retaining so much water. I *think* once your protein level gets above .3 that it is cause for concern. They had me on 24/7 monitoring and strict bed rest until I hit 37 weeks when they induced me.
@amovin21 well that's why I'm a little confused because my doctor said that LO was "deep in my pelvis" at my last apt so I assumed he meant she dropped but maybe he was wrong and she's still crowding my lungs... all I know is it's super uncomfortable and scary when you feel like you can't catch your breath.
Anyone else experiencing the difficulty breathing and rapid heartbeat? I have noticed a change in my heart beat when I check my pulse. It has been elevated and also irregular. Usually the breathing and rapid heartbeat happen at the same time. Just curious.
QBF.
I had this. Heart rate would jump for no reason. I went to doc for it and she said it could be related to my anemia. Once i committed to taking iron pill or eating more iron they stopped. A seperate pill not in my prenatal.

Yep. Doc says it will go away hopefully after birth.

@kp90 especially earlier on in the homestretch, baby can engage then disengage from your pelvis, especially if they're not in a great, comfortable position. Last pregnancy DS was engaged, but sunny side up at 36w, then not engaged after a couple weeks of false labor.

Thanks. They did call me and scheduled another NST and a BPP for tomorrow after the midwife consulted with an OB I guess. Hopefully, everything will be fine!
I'm sooooooo tired. Beyond tired, first tri exhaustion has nothing on this for me. I have zero energy to do anything with my DD and I feel so guilty. We try to do something outside every day so she can just run around but I've been allowing far more tv than I would normally. I try to color with her and do Playdoh and all that but all I can think of is ... Tired. Oh, I feel like such a bad mama these days.

Same for me. Heart rate jumps for no reason, dr said it was common in the 3rd and has a lot to do with the how taxing pregnancy is at the end. I've been having trouble breathing too, especially when I lay down to sleep at night. I usually end up in our chaise lounge to sleep mid-way through the night because I can prop myself up better to breath....actually just told my husband this morning that I was excited to be able to sleep in bed again in approximately 3 weeks

I feel the same. I can barely do anything without huffing and puffing and the BH force me to sit and chill out. Because of that DS gets way more tv time than I'd like but it's just temporary!
@TXmamatobeYes! So exhausted. I feel like I can barely keep my eyes open, and it takes everything in me not to make a cup of coffee (I try to keep it to one in the morning). It's like 1st trimester, but thankfully, no all day morning sickness.
Not really a 3rd-tri symptom but it kinda fits. I went and got my tdap and flu shots yesterday. As soon as I got home I was overwhelmed with sleepiness. I fell asleep on the sofa after I decided to go take a nap in bed . . . I never made it to the bed. The shoulder of the arm that got the tdap is really achy now today and I had a very hard time sleeping because it felt like I had a rock under my arm where I had the shot done. Also, both arms are bruised and itchy where I had the shots, and I have a massive migraine today. Is this all normal? I might just call the nurse and make sure I'm not having some kind of bizarre reaction.

@KurrantOf course contact your doctor if you're worried but I got a fever from the tdap shot and my arm hurt like hell. I felt kind of flu-ey with body aches and fever for 24 hours after and then it went away. Turns out it is actually a fairly common side effect of the vaccine. I've never gotten sick from the flu shot but it definitely leaves my arm sore also. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm glad you got the shots, yay! I know mine hurt right after getting the tdap shot, ached for a couple of days. Migraine is weird, but most likely just a co-incidence. I hope your drinking plenty of water, but definitely call the nurse if your concerned.

@kp90 not sure if anyone answered this for you yet, but I was getting that about 2 months or so ago. I was getting something called Ectopic heartbeats. I would usually get them in the afternoon, and would be sporadic all day. I found that when the heartbeat went weird, I felt like I needed to cough to get my heart working properly again. I saw my Dr (I work in a hospital) and did an ECG which confirmed I was having a weird heart rhythm. Apparently its just another one of those things, nothing to worry about just annoying. Strange thing is they went away as suddenly as they started, haven't had any for the last couple of weeks at all.

I'm on my own with DD this weekend, I know there will be a lot of peppa pig on TV. I feel zero guilts now because A: growing a human here! B: she loves it and one weekend isnt going to harm her and C: I was feeling all the guilts but because I'm so incredibly tired, and I literally cannot chase her around like I used to I have decided to not feel guilty because again point A!
Also its set to rain all weekend.

Sorry for the tmi but anyone else dealing with vaginal varicose veins? Did not experience this with first pregnancy. It is quite horrific. Not to mention I made the horrible mistake at taking a mirror to see what sort of damage was being done... Yeah not fun. Ugly cried for a bit. don't know if anyone is dealing with this too?
This has to be the most painful, and embarrassing symptom I've ever experienced. I did not have this with DD, nor did I even know it was a thing! It came on with this Pg late in the second tri and hasn't gone away. BUT My OB has reassured me that this is completely temporary! It's due to all of the pressure from the baby and once LO arrives, it will be gone. I didn't think anything could make my sex drive tank any more, well now it's gone entirely.
That being said, I can't wait to have my baby, a cold beer, and have my body back. Not even pre baby shape or anything, I just do not want to share it with anyone anymore.

@TXmamatobe You're so not alone. My standards are slipping too, and the mommy guilt is terrible.
STM who experienced preeclampsia late in pregnancy: did you notice any symptoms? When I went in for my 36 weeks appointment yesterday my blood pressure was high so I was sent to triage. While in triage it went below the 140/90 but was still high for me( I typically am 118/55 and it was 130's/70's). They had me do a 24 hour urine sample and blood work. I did have an "excessive" amount of weight gain at 34 week appointment (8 lbs and then 4 lbs this appointment). My feet swell a lot but I am at a desk all day. I had headaches the last week but they went away with Tylenol. My protein level came back at .43 when standard range is supposed to be <.2. However, I FEEL fine. I have an appointment Tuesday but I am just wondering/hoping if it's all a fluke of individual pregnancy symptoms happening all at once? If not when do they typically induce if you have preeclampsia? I would assume my midwife would call me if there were serious concerns so I am not all that worried just wondering.
As far as delivery, it really depends how your pre-e is progressing. It depends if you have other symptoms such as visual changes or decreased platelets. Also, keep an eye on your swelling. Are you swelling in your face or hands? If so, your midwife needs to know. Keep that baby cooking - but at least you are 36 + wks!

Don't feel bad Mama, we didn't leave the house today. It was rainy, and at least we had our in-home therapies today, so they got some interaction. However, I'm calling today a win because I made chili for dinner and banana bread. Dinner doesn't always get made these days.

I haven't noticed significant swelling in my hands or face just feet. I will know tomorrow I suppose when I go in for more tests.

Exactly. We went to the park this morning and I thought for sure we had been there an hour - nope, 25 minutes. I was so tired after we both took a nap. I left my standards back a few weeks ago, now it's just about making it through every day with both of us happy and fed.
I had a Dr's appt today and I had slightly high blood pressure. I've never had high blood pressure and had no other symptoms. I think I was just anxious for my appt (finally booking c section and talking about a tubal). Dr sent me to L&D to get monitored just in case. While I was there blood pressure was really good. They did blood and urine. My urine came back with some protein in it. I'm doing a 24 hour urine catch now. I haven't had an swelling, no headache, no vision problem etc. Wondering if anyone has been in a similar position. How likely is it that I had a fluke high blood pressure reading and borderline protein in urine and nothing else? I thought the dr mentioned maybe they'd monitor me twice a week if it comes back with more protein. Anyone know how to they'd monitor me? Wondering what to expect now.
@cortney626I've not experienced this myself but from what I've read and heard from women I know they monitor you in L&D however many times a week and for however long the doctor decides. FX it's just a fluky thing.

I got period cramps out of nowhere last night, they've been constant, not coming or going, and literally just feel like I'm on my period and like I should expect to be bleeding like normal. I'm assuming baby engaged/is engaging right along with these period cramps because there's literally a war going on right now between my cervix/pelvis and this child. I'm really hoping my cervix and pelvis can win this war for several more weeks even though it definitely feels like theyre losing right now.
I've been having more than I'd like BH'S. Decides to go in last night after I could for sure say I exceeded 6 per hour. Turns out I was having more than I even felt! My cervix is pretty much closed, etc. Negative fetal fibronectin test. They did have me take a Procardia to see if it would calm down my uterus. Meds helped, they sent me home. They basically said "no restrictions with added rest". Here's the thing- activity seems to be the reason I have the contractions! Simply getting up, rolling over, walking, bumps in the car...anything causes a contraction. I have an appointment Tuesday for my routine check. I really would hate to get pulled from work early , but it seems like the best choice. My job is physical, with very limited ways to make it light duty. The contractions make me nervous, even though it's my third baby. They are definitely more intense than I've had. Arggg... annoying!
Apparently my fickle food nature is making a resurgence. I couldn't decide so I just ordered soup, a salad, fries, and a milkshake for lunch and not a single one was appealing. And now I'm not hungry at all.
@ncm0328 I've gotten those cramps the past few nights as well, though mine are accompanied by back pain. The back cramps are making me a little concerned that though this LO has settled head down for the past few days, he may be sunny-side-up. (If I have back labor, so be it...but DS was in this position before he flipped breech back to back with me. I'd rather avoid having both back labor and a csection for breech position again. Though, if he comes out safe and healthy like DS, then that's really all I can hope for at the end of the day.)
I told some friends that when I stood up the other day, I could swear I dilated.. Ok, I know that isn't possible, but I do feel like she is "knocking" on the door, ready to come. The tech at my GS this week told me she is low and head down. I keep getting this feeling that she is going to be early (mainly because I need/want her to be a week late for selfish reasons). And that reminds me that HOLY CRAP she could technically be here any day now.

I've been feeling like this since 19 weeks. I've been seen for increased contractions 3 times, but so far, my cervix has stayed closed. I was last checked at 29 weeks, and I will be 33weeks tomorrow. Neg FFN as well. I hope we both make it to term! (My second pregnancy.)
resting, hydrating, and keeping bladder empty has helped me the most.

Didn't know right place to put this so... Just wanted to say to trust your instincts everyone even if people think you're being... how shall we say -neurotic? was in hospital today as just last few days felt things not right - long story short am being induced tomorrow and baby coming this weekend one way or the other - waters had broken few weeks ago and I had been reassured it was just normal discharge - obviously wasn't the movie gush.. Luckily baby ok as if they had known would have had steroid and antibiotic - - he is a good size and they want him out now- week 36 tomorrow.. Everyone thought I was being daft yesterday and today when I was just saying it didn't feel the same and luckily I would rather be an idiot and wrong than risk it and turns out my poor baby didn't have much fluid to play in anymore!!
So trust your mothers instinct and even if you're off the worst case scenario you feel a bit foolish!! Best case is baby gets here ok xx
@kbrands7 it's super annoying. Mine started last night around 8 and still have not gone away. It's been constant, no start/stop so I know it's not contractions, and my cervix is definitely feeling the pressure. I mentioned it at my ob appt earlier today and they checked me and said I hadn't progressed past a dimple (which was where I was last week when I was in L&D). I'm only 34 weeks today, so definitely hoping these constant menstrual cramps are simply just another joyous pain of third tri. I hope LO stays head down for you and hopefully he decides to be good and not stay sunny side up!
@yogahh thanks, it's super weird!! Hoping to get some rest before it all kicks off but wired and that may be it for a while! Currently washing baby clothes, then to pack the hospital bag!
What compels you guys to even pull out the mirror for that purpose????? Speaking of mirrors...where do you stand on the mirror during birth thing? I'm totally against it. Freaks me out just thinking about it. Just get the baby out, I don't need to see the scary things going on to my vagina thanks!
It's also a big NO for me. I have a friend that declined the offer of a mirror during birth, but she said she was slightly horrified when she could see everything in the reflection of the TV screen in her room.
PSA: YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING IN THE REFLECTION OF YOUR OB'S EYEWEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT IMAGE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU!!!!!!!!!
They...wear special eyewear? Or are these just their regular glasses? Like, how much splattering should I expect if they're wearing protective goggles?
