  • Excruciating back pain hit me all of the sudden. I know back pain is common. But it hurts to walk

  • Braxton Hicks, Braxton Hicks, and Braxton Hicks! Ugh. I had an appointment on Friday and the doctor told me that if I'm having more than 6 in an hour (which I have more than that during the work week), then I need to empty my bladder, sit down, and drink water. If they still don't go away, I have to go home. If I did this, I'd be leaving work EVERY SINGLE DAY. They only go away when I'm lying down. I've had an insanely easy pregnancy until this. So painful and uncomfortable and annoying.
But all the fun, crazy movements make up for it a bit :-)
  • @spatter1 the good news is, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll have it in subsequent pregnancies. I think the severity of mine depends on her positioning, so I'm hoping she doesn't drop too long before she's ready to make her entrance!
  • @AmadorRose @spatter1 I hope the two of you are luckier than I am - I had SPD badly in the last 8 weeks of my pregnancy with DS and this time around, it started even earlier (around 25w). Some days are miserable, some not so much. Rolling over in bed and stair climbing is devils work though. Hang in there!

I empathise - I've had BH for over 2 months with similar frequency to you but they're definitely worse in the aftn/evening and more so after a busy day.

Ive found moving position, deep breathing, and a drink often helps them to pass and stop. All good prep for labour!
  • OMG yes! Feels like the only thing holding my pelvis together is my stretchy pants..
  • So I've obtained the lovely pleasure of experiencing numb/tingling fingertips. My wrists don't look swollen, but it must be somewhere to be cutting off blood flow. I had no idea this was a normal symptom. It's really annoying trying to do anything with tingling fingertips.
  • Still emotional fits. I lashed out at DH about our new car because he didn't communicate with me during the process (I was at home with DS since my dad only took DH since it would be "DH's car"). Also started crying last night about moving out.

    Sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Lots of little things but nothing too terrible. Noticing I'm more and more tired especially after 5 pm, Braxton hicks but nothing to worry about, peeing all the time. The worst is probably my acid reflux that acts up when I lay down. I have a prescription for zantac that I haven't filled yet but it worked wonders with my first pregnancy so I should just go and get it filled and stop complaining haha!

  • This pregnancy carpal tunnel crap is bullchit!  All day....even during the night, I have numb, tingling hands and fingers.  It definitely makes trying to write anything at work a challenge.  Last night I had quite a time trying to get my hand comfortable enough to sleep through the night.
    image
  • @fourtsixand2 - try a wrist control splint at night and avoid positions that increase the symptoms. If you work in an office, try to make sure your workstation is ergonomically correct for you. Make sure you don't have to be in positions of extreme wrist flexion/extension for prolonged periods of time (writing, typing, etc). Neutral posturing is best.
  • Geographical tongue flared up again bad! I always had a theory it was hormonal because it would be worse just before I ovulated. But man! Never this bad! Half of my taste buds are gone off my tongue and a quarter of the rest are swollen... I at least can taste with the remaining quarter...
Other annoying this is he likes to stick his legs and but on my right side. It feels like he's trying to break through over there by my pelvis!
  • Probably not technically a symptom, but I keep having the same nightmare 1-3 times a week for the last month now. It's disturbing and graphic and it seems so real that I wake up short of breath and bawling my eyes out. Almost every time I end up waking DH due to my uncontrollable sobbing and it takes him a good 30 minutes to get me to calm down. I'm sure it's anxiety because when is there a better time in life to worry and stress than now? But I seriously miss my happy pre-pregnancy dreams.
  • My feet have been killing me! I've been having lots of heel pain when walking but I haven't had any swelling. I also feel like there is a bone in the top of my left foot that is sore/broken/sprained/whatever. It's so bad that I cannot stand up for long periods of time anymore and my daily walks are not happening. Anyone else having this problem?

Oh anyone else notice all that second tri energy completely gone... I usually need a nap by noon! @foxbaby2016 what shoes do you wear and how much are you on your feet?
Yes energy and any desire for alone time with SO ::poof:: doneski.
  • I got a new one! I have a knot or lump the size of a ping pong ball on my right side. It's uncomfortable to sit and it kind of hurts. It's outside the rib cage on the surface. I had it checked out and was told by two doctors (one was my boss the medical director) it's either pulled tissue, a cyst, or something caused by the pulling and relaxing of muscles in the upper abdomen. It's not a tumor or connected to any organs and they said it might relieve itself after baby is born so I might be stuck with it for awhile. :(

I had that issue with DS. I pretty much just scheduled when I was going to eat a bunch of small meals and then tried to find something bland. Over time it went away but I could only eat specific foods without feeling terrible afterwards. Weirdly, all of the foods that stuck were spicy.

Spicy food is the only thing that doesn't make me feel horrible, so I make a breakfast burrito with hot sauce every morning. I try to force feed myself but it just makes me want to throw up :disappointed:
  • Heartburn has gotten pretty bad now. I never noticed an energy increase in 2nd tri, but I am completely exhausted all the time now. I can't sleep more than 2 hours without waking up. Almost like clockwork, I wake up every 2 hours, so I never feel rested once I finally get up. That coupled with night shift and being anemic, means I pretty much hate life right now. RLS and hip pain make it difficult to sit or lay down, and baby kicks have become painful, it feels like he is going to break through the skin. He is also head down and sitting low in my pelvis which makes walking painful as well. I am so ready to be done!
  • This is kind of odd... I have a little patch of skin on my neck that is kind of dark and dry. I thought it was a bruise, but it's dry skin. It's the smallest spot but I keep thinking I have a bruise when looking in the mirror.
  • The hip pain is pretty damn bad. I am absolutely never comfortable. The word energy isn't in my dictionary any longer. The heartburn is constant. I feel like it's even triggered by my own saliva. Ha!

I don't know what this is.. But as of the last week or so (specifically today) I will have bouts of tense "cramp" like sensations along my lower abdomen--right underneath the belly bump. I have no idea what it is, but it can be either uncomfortable or painful. It's sort of baffling me.

ugh, I have that too. It was really bad this morning. It feels like really bad gas pains, but I don't need to fart.
  • I know I've already mentioned carpel tunnel but DAYUM!!!  It literally, and I mean literally, kept me up all night last night.  It felt like my hand needed to be amputated it was so uncomfortable.  It wasn't until my husband, about 6:00am, massaged my arm/wrist/hand and it felt better for a few minutes.
Aside from that, at about 4am, I got up to let my dogs out to potty and as soon as my left foot his the ground getting out of bed the most intense sharp pain ran down the length of my leg.  It was debilitating.  It almost felt 'shocking'.   That was the first time that happened.  What the hell is going on with our bodies!?

This whole pregnancy! The hormones have really made my hair brittle and dry. It's finally going back to "normal" with the use of pureology. I'm nervous to see how much falls out after LO is birn
  • a few new things in the last two weeks:
    - random itchy rash all over my legs - it went away with enough lotion and a Claritin, Dr said dry skin, esp. in the winter is normal so not to worry unless the rash doesn't go away
    - lower ribs have popped out of place causing extreme pain on my sides (on top on the pain from streching
    - breasts have started leaking (so on top on not controlling my bladder now i can't control my boobs)
    ~~When you wish upon a star ~~

I have this same pain sometimes. I can't decide what it is. Maybe RLP? I've noticed mine seems to be at night, after I've had dinner so maybe it's gas pains or being bloated? Idk but it can HURT.

I definitely have no idea what it is! I haven't experienced BH but from the description of BH I don't think it is that... I sometimes think RLP, but the RLP I felt in first tri felt pretty different from this!
  • @randilea0110 I have the same thing going on with my dreams. I have had quite a few disturbing ones in the last few weeks and one particularly horrifying one where my daughter gets hit by a car that keeps replaying over and over again. I've never had dreams like this and I'm attributing it to messes up sleep patterns.

I had the same thing on my knee for a while! Very odd. It went away though!

@fbanke42 yes to the hair thing! My hair has been pretty great up until now. Third tri hit and all the sudden my hair is just gross... Doesn't seem to be growing and is frizzy and flat.

@kalanieileen I've also been getting pain in my low abdomen at night, mostly on the right side. I feel like it must be gas... But I don't know. It's uncomfortable and hurts to roll over/switch positions at night. I think I've also had some mild BH contractions at night which feel different, they feel more like mild period cramps.

I work in an office environment so I usually wear flats (stopped wearing heels around 10 weeks pregnant). and I sit most of the day so I'm not on my feet very often at all. That's why I'm so confused about having this much pain in my feet! Going to the doctors this morning and I'm hoping she will have some answers for me!

YES!  If I use any type of non-clear or moisturizing shampoo or conditioner my hair is caked with oil for the day.  It's disgusting.
The first time it happened, I used baking soda to wash my hair.  That seemed to work and took the oil out of my hair but I knew I couldn't do that daily.
I bought a clear non-moisturizing shampoo (it was a Pantene product - the only one they sold that was clear and in a clear bottle) and that did the trick and I didn't have an issue after that.  I avoid using conditioner all together, or just put it on the tips, but never the roots.
    That has helped for me!

  • Ugh, I try really hard not to complain about pregnancy related symptoms since I knew what I was signing up for, but this week has been tough.

I am hungry constantly. I eat two bowls of Special K for breakfast and am hungry 2-3 hours later. My admin has started to comment on how I am eating a second lunch almost every day. And I practiced some self control last night and didn't eat the entire pizza, I left 2 slices.

Oh, And I am farting constantly, the pain in my hips wakes me up at night, and I was told I cant run anymore.

Pity party of one over here

  • I can't go shopping in the mornings without getting naseous. Walking around WalMart, I grab one thing and then I'm exhausted, naseous, and if I continue too long without sitting, I get lightheaded. Evenings don't seem to do that.

Very small meals, and maybe dry crackers, or bland foods that are easy on the stomach. I am having the same problem. The baby does not like certain foods.
