@BeachTigress At least diapers are useful. You should see some of the stuff I received before DS was born. Crocheted baptism outfit (we're not religious much to my grandma's distaste), hand knitted stuffed animals that would give you nightmares, girl clothes (we were team green). And the things we didn't receive - my MIL bought DH's 3 other siblings each a glider but because I didn't want the same one everyone else received we got nothing. Which sounds a little more bratty then it was IRL.
@silvers626 how do you even respond to a hideous knitted stuffed animal? I will take 1,000 piles of diapers before I would except a knitted stuff animal! And that is pretty rude of your MIL. She could of at least given you the money for the cost of the glider and you go buy whatever you want with it. If she was already going to spend then money then why not just give it to you?

Also I'm really happy i have had three days of no vomit! This is a huge thing for me and I feel my throat has finally healed granted I have stupid cold now but everything has felt so much more manageable the last few days and I think I needed this so bad as it was getting really depressing

"Vomit free for 03...days!" Woo hop! glad you're feeling better on the MS front.
I'm flying out to my parents home town for a long over due visit. And I will be announcing to all of my extended family. I was extremely close to my paternal grandparents and I'm so lucky to still have quite a few great aunties and great uncles around. While it's not the same as getting to tell my own, it is a really close second.
Apparently I already have multiple crocheted and knitted goodies that have just been waiting for my slow ass to procreate.
And now because I'm crying, I'll include the note that was in with my engagement rings. I lost my grandmother in 2001 so this was waiting 10 years for me.
Ds is sick, poor little guy has been up coughing all night. He's 7 months but is a fantastic sleeper normally- last night brought me back to having a newborn! This is his 2nd time having a cold in his little life and last time he was small enough to go back in his rock and play sleeper which helped so much to elevate his head! Those stupid crib wedges are crap! He just rolled off it last nigh. Hope he feels better soon! I hate seeing him so sad!
@PugsandKisses My pregnant hormones seriously can't handle this. I just finished watching the Harry Potter movies again. Alan Rickman was so good. I think I'm going to watch Love Actually and sulk today

@Natinat6 that is so sweet! Made me tear up!
the Rock n Play is AWESOME when kids are sick/congested. I used it for DD when she was at the max weight limit (at that point hadn't been used in a while) and she had the best sleep ever! Such a relief when your kid is sick.
I sometimes pull up YouTube music videos during DD's bath time (we both love to sing). I have to obviously either pick the videos that are just scrolling lyrics or are tame (Megan Trainor, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran). Well last night, I pulled up Sia's "Chandelier" video and she was OBSESSED. She even called DH in so he could watch (the 2nd viewing). DH took us to see The Nutcracker at X-mas and I think she's really growing an appreciation for dance. I guess I know what I'll be looking into after T-Ball season is over!
Taymiller have you been to the new Wizarding World Diagon Alley? I LOVE Florean Fortescue's! Ugh, now I'm craving Chocolate Chili ice cream....
Edit for spelling
We went a few years ago. Heard they made some changes. Can't wait to go back, but next time we want to take all the kids so it'll be about 2 years, I think.
Ok kinda weird specific question.... Does anyone on here have a situation where both they and DH work on call jobs. I'm contemplating a job change for after baby (I would start a program which I would do the grunt work while pregnant and have the program hit the ground running after my maternity leave, it is my DREAM job), but this job would have an on call portion. DH's job has on call part of it also. Now realistically I think the overlap would be VERY minimal, but I am wondering what other people do sitter-wise for middle of the night calls. We do not have family in the area.
MotherOfDucks Yep, they added Diagon Alley to the Universal Studios side (where Jaws once was, RIP) and now have the Hogwarts Express to ride between the two parts. Taymiller you MUST! It's an amazing area. I may or may not have teared up while walking into Hogsmeade for the first time before it opened to the public

We are hoping to go when this baby is a little older. We are going to Disneyland in March and I am pretty sure I might just cry all day everyday because I am so excited for DS to love it as much as we do.
Alan Rickman was my older sisters favorite actor. She died four years ago. I just rewatched all the HP movies a couple weeks ago (like a pregnant madwoman) and sobbed, a lot. Now...it's too much! I am going to have to watch them again and it will be a complete disaster, but it must be done.
I am still in serious Bowie mourning. And now this. I can't.
@mckcak23 my DH and I both work shift work. My job has on call portions but not often. I use majority of my holidays taking nights off that overlap, as does DH. We couldn't do it without family around. Sometimes DH works 7am to 7pm and I may start at 7pm, family comes to our house to watch DD for the hour overlap until DH gets home. If you were both on call through the night you would need someone to sleep at your house, or come up at random hours if you get called. Unless you can schedule your call-in when your hubby is not on call. It's really tough but we make it work.
@elenabrent@MrsRo731@foxa319 hanks. We were really close. I still miss them both terribly. I need to get it properly framed so the words aren't cut off. It's on my bedside table. Most likely, our daughter will have my grandmothers name as her middle name. Margaret.
That note was on our picture table at our wedding along with their beautiful marriage certificate. I used the quilt my great aunt sewed for us as the table cloth.
I can't wait to see what beautiful things they have made already for this baby. These are the only people in the world I would pay to fly to Rochester for in mid-January.
@Natinat6 there is just something about Grandma's names Margaret. Mine was as well and she was the best person on Earth. Not a day goes by that I do not think about her. I have notes from her as well that I cherish. If we have a girl she will be Margaret Ann. (I should note also that I am named Margaret after her so it is also a family name)
can we restart the baby name thread with suggestions.... its like a favorite past time of mine ( especially because our names are 100% solidified for boy or girl and I need a little fun in my life)

Normally I would be sad, but due to pregnancy, I am crushed. I want to cry and throw up. I am in my 30's for God sake.
"After all this time?"
"Always."

I can't keep myself together this week. Between Bowie and now Alan Rickman, it's too much. Humanity lost some real talents this week.
