@BeachTigress I totally had that awful taste in my mouth all the time and for weeks. Pickles work to get it out too. And if you can stomach it, apple cider vinegar works too, either a teaspoon or mixed with water.
I want to kiss your feet. Seriously read thru all of her recommendations and feel like I have such a better grip on things I'll need! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I noticed a lot of you have been posting about not cosleeping and I think it is a very personal choice between your comfort level, your baby and your SO. But I know there are people who may look silently at these threads and I wanted to say that I personally chose to cosleep with my daughter from 3 weeks-14 months. I was not getting any sleep and I had done a ton of research before hand. LLL has a book called Sweet Sleep that talked about 7 key things you need to do/have in place to make sure you can cosleep safely in developed countries (it is actually the norm in most countries around the world, and SIDS doesn't exist, or at much much lower rates, where parents cosleep with their babies) it talks about things like bedding, pillow, not drinking or smoking and how to position you and baby to make it safe. I am not saying everyone should or trying to start an arguement just providing some info for those who may want it. Feel free to also PM me if you want to discuss.
I used to co sleep a little when DS was about 2 weeks old and breast feeding. Then something went wrong and I was traumatized and never Co slept again.
Although I respect parents who co sleep, it definitely isn't for everybody.
I have also heard they can in serious cases give u a low dose of Tylenol with codeine if it is absolutely necessary. Sorry about the pain and good luck.
I am having some scare issues lately and wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I'm 13 weeks and for some reason everytime I try to take a Luke warm shower I can't clean myself fast enough to not get light-headed. I now have to make sure my 12 year old is home and keeps an eye on me in the shower because I come so close to passing out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I know we aren't supposed to take a lot of baths but I feel this might be what I need to start doing. Sorry I'm new to this, meant to make my own question. Not reply on a post.
@lcking82 I've dislocated my toe 3 times whilst walking in the last 2 weeks. My foot is so swollen it's ridiculous. When I went to the dr's to check it was back in after the first go, she didn't believe me when I said I wasn't doing anything. I was literally just walking and then got searing pain and couldn't put weight on it. DH had to carry me inside it was so bad.
@sccrmom8 I get the same thing. I believe there was a thread for fainting awhile ago which may be helpful. What I remember from the suggestions and what works for me is to make sure that I have a large glass of cold water before getting in. I also always eat something before. I will keep a second glass of cold water within reach to take sporadic sips during my shower. If I start to feel really light headed I will sit down on the floor of the shower to one prevent a fall risk and two I can finish my shower. I fainted 3 times in this pregnancy before I started taking extra measures. I had never fainted prior to pregnancy.
My biggest suggestion is to search for the fainting thread and try different combos of suggestions until you find what works for you.

-- As PP said, I started a fainting thread a few weeks back as I've done it too. My doctor said as long as you aren't hitting your belly you're fine and to drink more water.
I also do the cup of water in the shower trick and sit down when you have to. I dreaded showers for a few weeks but the feelings have really eased up since hitting second tri. Good luck !

I take baths regularly. Mostly because I don't trust myself not to fall over when shaving my legs, even when not pregnant. I took baths all through my first pregnancy and it was fine. Just don't take scalding baths for a long time. Hot (not super hot) bath for 10-15 min is normal and fine. It's hot tubs and overheating that are potentially dangerous.
When DS was born I swore I wouldn't cosleep. And I didn't. Then DD was born. We moved when she was 4 months old and thing were difficult. So. She started sleeping with us when she was about a year. She's still in my bed and just turned 2. Last night was the first night trying to get her in her bed all night and it was awful. With this baby I won't cosleep. I like having just the bed for DH and I. I'm okay with cuddling or taking naps together. And when we go out of town sometimes we'll share a bed, depends where we go. I'm not against cosleeping. Depends how comfortable you are. I had DD with me on the bed at the hospital when she was born and the nurse yelled at me.
I converted DDs bedroom to a playroom this weekd (removed the crib turn toddler bed). She slept in the guest room Queen bed the WHOLE night thru the past three nights. I'm so thrilled. I actually got some good rest! I think she was waking herself up bumping in the crib slats/side rail of the toddler bed. I didn't have a Queen size bed until after I was married! What a lucky 3 year old. LOL!
DD fell on her back at the library and somehow tore the piece of tissue that attaches your upper lip above your front teeth. It took all my strength to not vomit right there. I was so grossed out I was sweating walking outside in our 10 degree weather without my coat. Thankfully it sounds like it should heal fine naturally.

@sccrmom8 I just want to point out that you can take all the baths you want! If you would feel more comfortable in the bath, do it. Pregnant women are only cautioned against taking extremely hot baths (think hot tub). The concern only arises when the water and time spent in the water have the potential to raise your body's temperature to over 102 degrees. You can do a luke-warm bath for as long as you want or a short, quick hot bath!

Have you talked with your doc/nurses line about this? That seems severe enough to warrant a phone call or appointment... my thinking there could be something on with your blood pressure... keep us posted.
I always get dizzy easily and pregnancy makes it worse. One reason I hate showers. The heat really affects me. For the record, my doctors are not concerned.

oh, poor baby! and poor you! I would be freaked out, too. Glad to hear it'll heal on its own!
I'm pretty sure I felt the baby move last night (15+2). I was lying in bed watching The Labyrinth (silent tear), and it felt like part of my insides flipped over. I stayed really still and it happened again! The baby is already a Bowie fan.
I've never fainted or gotten really light headed in the shower, but up until week 13 I threw up every time I showered. I could last a few minutes, but without fail, I'd end up jumping out to vomit in the toilet. It was very cute and it completely explains why I barely shaved my legs for 3 months.
Today I'm so happy because we had our NT scan and everything is measuring perfectly! I can back negative for cystic fibrosis and Tay Sachs screenings and baby has a very low risk of Down's and trisomy 13 & 18 based on the scan and bloodwork. Plus it was so exciting to see the baby moving around and finally having PROOF other than a hpt that I'm actually pregnant
When you are close to passing out, the issue is lack of blood flow to your head. This can happen for a variety of reasons. For me, it's happened because I get too hot (showering or cooking) or when I stand in one place too long (blood pooling in my legs). Sitting down, bring well hydrated and changing positions slowly all help. I know you said the shower temp is lukewarm but maybe it's still too warm for your body? Has your blood pressure been running low lately?

I had this problem around week 6 when I would shower in the morning. I started showering in the evening right after dinner and it helped immensely. I made DH sit in the bathroom while I showered the first few times to be sure, and now I'm totally fine on my own.
Saw my OB this morning and confirmed the hospital I'll be delivering at-- how many of you guys are planning on doing a tour? Not sure when to schedule one but will probably do it soon just in case it turns out dreadful.

I did a tour before my first child's birth and I was pretty far along. My feet were SO swollen from all the walking and I felt shitty afterwards. Do it whenever you feel is best. Just take good notes if you go early.

Most people do tours at the end of the 2nd tri. I did officially with my first. However, I used to work there, I just never hung out on L/D. I am very familiar with the post partum unit aka Mother Baby.
I asked a old coworker is a lot has changed and they said no. So I will not be doing another one.

I'm planning to take a tour sometime in the next couple of months. My sister is due in June with twins and will be delivering at the same hospital, so we'll probably just go together.
Not that this has anything to do with the tour, but I was recently informed that the hospital I'm delivering at has a fabulous food court. They call you and take your order for every meal (included in your stay). And apparently there's a designated smoothie time! Let's have this baby right now!
Random: I finally got to hear baby's heartbeat today at 12w (yay!!!!) and doctor said it was in the 170-180 range. I didn't think much of it, but as I've been reading different posts here, it seems higher than "normal". I can't find a definitive answer through Google (go figure), and I assume if it was too high my doctor would have said something. But does anyone know off the top of their head the range of healthy BPM?

Well. I feel like a total dumb-ass now. Thanks for the info, @HMcDade1!
@PinkLady2015 With my first pregnancy the time to take the tour was during my busy season with work, so I ended up taking a virtual tour on the hospital web site. The rooms looked decent, which is all I cared about, and I quite honestly didn't notice most of it while I was there anyway!
At my last appt, baby's heart rate was 150. I told my doc at my NT scans, it was 173 and 169 and asked if I should worry about the fluctuation. She said fluctuation is common and depends on baby's movement "so that's why that old wives tale makes no sense about a certain heart rate meaning boy or girl".

I'm not sure but at my last apt my baby's was 170 something. My doctor didn't say anything so I'm not concerned.

Don't google!!! If the doctor didn't say anything then don't worry. My doctor said that the heart rate can never be too high but it can be too low
